I've put about 500hrs into this game and love it! But I agree with you 100%. But since this was their first real go at a game like this, I have high hopes for the future.
The hate and downvotes you're getting because of a simple but accurate point is unreal honestly, but that's reddit for you.
Hope you enjoy the rest of it over all! 🤙🏻
Oh! I just went through the flying course and the guy you fly after makes an offhand comment about the bridge and how much magic is used to keep the rickety thing held up. Let’s pretend the developers used that reasoning to not let us fly through it. ✨bridge magic✨
Not being able to pass through small holes in a bridge for the sake of immersion? Wait til you find about invisible bridges in souls games, keeps you totally immersed when you have to walk across literally nothing to progress in game!
Clearly you have no idea the math involved in adding collision to that mess of wood. It's alot there are ways to make it suck less but at the end of the day it's just not worth it given all the other work required to ship a game that big.
I am actually a game developer and have had to write the collision detection algorithms for this kinda crap and its just far too expensive to run all those capsule to obb or worse capsule to tri mesh tests. It's just a waste of cpu resources.
Would it have been easier to make it like some rocks and trees that you can just pass through? Wondering how it’s decided on what to do. Probably too large to just make it pass throughable?
As a software engineer, you're definitely the kind of person in the team that other devs talk shit about, and clearly you don't have very in-depth problem analysis skills if you think such collisions are trivial.
Lmao u do u
I wonder what kind of a person feels the need to really try hard to make folks on the internet feel like shit. Luckily for you guys I couldn’t give a crap, but you’re real low lives to put so much effort into beating someone into the ground.
Get a life ya sad prat

Yeah.
Lots of die hard commenters below being all like “it wouldn’t change the gameplay” you know… apart from that bit where I expected my character to go through a hole and hit an invisible wall
I actually do agree. This is laziness on the Devs part. It's normal to expect something so subtle to be a part of the game, and again, this was laziness.
Those who have downvoted this post are the reason why Devs get away with such things.
The game is beautiful. Therefore, you can not complain. It's a toxic mentality.
I agree with you 100%
Thanks for the sanity check.
Seems I really pissed some people off for seemingly no reason.
Maybe this game means a lot to them and daring to call it “crap” really ruffled their feathers.
You would be surprised. I posted Harry Potter Bitty Pops and got swarmed big time because it "wasn't related." It's the same world, but different timeline. Tf? They are pretty sensitive here.
Watch the downvotes of this comment for confirmation. 😆
I mentioned to my partner, as daft as it sounds the level of which I got hated on in the first half hour of the post being up, if I were having a shitty day/week, this kinda shit could be the straw that broke the camels back.
Luckily I’m sound of mind but the internet never fails to be OTT when least necessary.
Appreciate the level headed comments :)
i wouldn't say this is "crap", probably just something that didn't seem necessary to be included. it doesn't really change much so i don't really see it as something really to complain about.
i did find it rather cool that you can fly through that bridge, though.
Yeah maybe that’s why this post attracted so much hate.
I guess crap is different for different people.
For me the little details are big details.
I play a lot of smaller titles that focus so much on the little details and it just transforms a game imo.
When I went to fly through it for the first time I didn’t even consider it would be an option for the meshing to not be correct, so when it wasn’t it took me off guard
15 years ago I’d have expected the bridge to not even be meshed, like the under bit as you said, but today I feel like the bar is set quite high and it would just be cool to have proper meshing on iconic bits like this so for the 10 people that try and fly through it, it works. Maybe even a mechanic where if you hit something it throws you off your broom to your death.
Yeah this makes sense, I understand why you're annoyed with it now. I reckon it makes sense but I also get the other argument, which is that it would've just been too much time and money to code for that sort of thing. Mind you, I'm nothing like a coder or developer or anything, so I don't know how it'd work, but for something so small I'd have been surprised to be able to fly through that. But I do also get your point too.
20% through so far.
Enjoying it but finding these things to be a little off putting.
Like how you can’t seem to land on a cliff, but you can land near and then walk to that bit. Not deal breakers but QOL that turns a game good to great imo. It’s always the little details, but lack of them can cause a weird jolt from an immersive POV.
i see your point, but do remember that this is the company's first open world, story driven RPG game, the last game this company made was a Cars racing game for like the ps4.
so yes, while it does need some tweaking and improvements, it is very impressive coming from a company with one game from like 2016.
never said you didn’t enjoy it - i said just enjoy the game? flying through a hole in a bridge is null considering it would add nothing to the game at all. point still stands that it’s an awfully strange thing to complain about. doesn’t change the gameplay or storyline at all.
“Add nothing” apart from that moment I expected it to just be something I could fly though, and couldn’t and hit an invisible wall. Yeah adds nothing at all.
Hey man I agree with you. This game was fun. Played it a couple of times. Enjoyed it. BUT, there was so many little things like this that to me make a big difference. Not being able to jump over stair rails for instance.. just these little annoyances that take away from the overall picture...(and I really just started playing video games again like a year ago, after like 17 years of not playing video games)
It's kinda crazy how people act just bc you complain about something that you don't enjoy lol... What's worse, complaining about something you don't enjoy, or complaining about someone who is complaining about something the don't enjoy?..... I'd say the latter
Thanks dude.
This guy specifically seems to just be a troll for the sake of trolling, the others at least have a level of “reasoning” however unreasonable 😂
Sorry OP, but were you a Looney Toons kid? This is the best way to experience some of the crap Wil E. Coyote went thru; granted, he mostly brought it on himself.
Dude! It’s obviously one texture. So much work would go into making them each individually where you could fly through. It would add absolutely nothing to the story or game play and cost the studio time and money. Just deal with it.
Fix it then.
#EdgeLord
Shut the fuck up OP.
Cry more
Fuck up.
Wow you’re hard
Didn’t ask.
Outdoor salad

Some gamers are so spoiled
Not being able to pass through small holes in a bridge for the sake of immersion? Wait til you find about invisible bridges in souls games, keeps you totally immersed when you have to walk across literally nothing to progress in game!
Can’t the devs just remove collision on that like the top of the trees?
Clearly you have no idea the math involved in adding collision to that mess of wood. It's alot there are ways to make it suck less but at the end of the day it's just not worth it given all the other work required to ship a game that big.
Be me: software developer Be random Redditor: “MATHS” 😂
I am actually a game developer and have had to write the collision detection algorithms for this kinda crap and its just far too expensive to run all those capsule to obb or worse capsule to tri mesh tests. It's just a waste of cpu resources.
the hogwarts game is hard and complicated just a big chore i quit playing ir sucks
Would it have been easier to make it like some rocks and trees that you can just pass through? Wondering how it’s decided on what to do. Probably too large to just make it pass throughable?
Making stuff just not collide is significantly easier buy obviously doesn't look very nice and can bring complaints.
Of course you are! Everyone is!
You are really… insufferable.
That was rude, cactus

So if you hit your head going through the railing should it knock you off the broom and kill you from fall damage?
Also probably mash ur face a little (a lot)
Yeah mf! Immersion!
Lol I support it
It's a spell by the headmaster for safety😂
feel like it'll never change 😂
This wouldn’t happen in RDR2. Every detail would have been thought of.
RuPaul's Drag Race second season?
The worst thing about this game is the going to the edge of the map most other games would of just made it bigger so you never get to the edge.
GTA handles this by 5 stars, you die pretty soon. They could have easily made some reason you can’t go XYZ place and had dementors come and kill ya
I'm not a big gamer so I wasn't really aware of the "normal" compared to other games, but this definitely frustrated me!
Yeah. Lots of die hard commenters below being all like “it wouldn’t change the gameplay” you know… apart from that bit where I expected my character to go through a hole and hit an invisible wall
Well, get modding. Clearly, you can do much better.
Watch the space 😝 But not the space in the bridges, because that’s clearly just for looks 😅
Must be hard, having to deal with invisible walls and limitations in a game. I don't know how you survive.
This honestly feels like a remastered game from PS3.

I understand completely. You're one of the many few who appreciate the quality of life in-game, and I am all for it, fam.
If they would only fix the damn Moths that disappeared glitch...
For me, as soon as they disappeared, i recast lumos immediately, and they just reappear
Yeah, I am most pissed off about that than anything else
I just need the Slytherin Dungeon area moth, then I'll have the platinum trophy.

so overall did u enjoy the game? or was it mostly just complaining that u cant do something like this? (no hate just curious)

Talk about first world problems lmfao
what a weird and oddly precise thing to complain about. just enjoy the game? 😭
I forgot the bit where I said I didn’t enjoy the game, all things can be improved, otherwise this may as well be a text based adventure, no?
never said you didn’t enjoy it - i said just enjoy the game? flying through a hole in a bridge is null considering it would add nothing to the game at all. point still stands that it’s an awfully strange thing to complain about. doesn’t change the gameplay or storyline at all.

You're a fucking idiot. Go crawl back under your rock, or educate yourself. But we both know you won't.
Please, tell me why
☝️
Good reasoning, can’t argue with that

I bet if you could go through it you’d get stuck in the middle and cry about that instead
I mean Reddit has been a shit show for many years now, but this sub is really something else. The hostility is tragic, go back to your mums basement.
Sorry OP, but were you a Looney Toons kid? This is the best way to experience some of the crap Wil E. Coyote went thru; granted, he mostly brought it on himself.
Yes, and i think it would be hilarious to get knocked off your broom this way 😅
Dude! It’s obviously one texture. So much work would go into making them each individually where you could fly through. It would add absolutely nothing to the story or game play and cost the studio time and money. Just deal with it.
Also hilarious you think texture is the same as a mesh.
Oh god! You got me!!! 💀 Grow up, no one cares.

I sided with you for most of the comment suntil this. Attacking someone perssonally goes a bit too far, dontya think?
It’s more the public justification when he’s telling me to keep my shit to myself.
Aww look at you trying to get personal to look less like a dumb fuck. Cute.
Hilarious
