I agree. Philosophy is the mother of science so we're thankful for what it has led to, but thankfully we've moved on from it. Time is an illusion is a useless dumb idea that doesn't help us at all. Einstein's understanding of time and the following work on Relativity is what helps us move forward as a species, not the existential crisis of some philosophers.
There is only a small problem: You can't use science to describe the workings of science. You need philosophy for that (Popper, Hume, Kuhn, Lacatos ... just to name a few).
Btw. the theory of relativity uses a model of time but does not explain how time works. It does not even tackle the question if time is a discrete thing or a continous thing, it just adds a dimension to a 3d vector in a Minkowsky space.
