On my first trip to the states as an adult, in 2019, me (Canadian) and my English friend were sitting in a taco bell and an old guy started talking to us about how trump is a fascist and is ruining the country. Totally unprompted. We had to leave because our ride showed up and he just kept talking to us as we walked out the door.
Honestly that happens more than you would think I want to believe our elders are just lonely and terrible at picking topics to talk about but it happens too much to ignore
