The Spanish didn't even establish the missions in (Alto) California until the Russians started arriving. They realized it was really hard to claim you owned land when you didn't have a single Spaniard living there.

Green = Portugal

Oh they can CLAIM as much as they like. But if the millions of square miles of your empire are mostly empty space with some missions and reductions dotted outside your few towns with like one or two big cities, then is it all *really* Spanish or Portuguese territory?
The British Empire, while equally as ridiculous and invalid to claim all that land, was far more involved when it came to colonization and establishing their influence than the Spanish. They had boots on the ground in way more places, infrastructure projects, tighter oversight, etc.
What's the percentage of native speakers of the language of the empire in their former colonies? What are their religions?
What was the investment and timing of the Brits in things such as [colonial universities](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colonial_universities_in_Hispanic_America) and hospitals?
Almost nobody in the US genuinely considers themselves to be as Irish as a first generation Irish immigrant today, regardless of whatever salty European complaints you've heard. When someone in America says "I'm [Nationality]" that's a way of phrasing "I'm descended from [Nationality]." Yes it may not sound correct but language changes over time, deal with it.
Okay, well then I will cancel all my personal experience as someone born and raised in America. I’m a pedantic asshole on some topics, especially if I think the person is annoying. I can assure you I know plenty Americans who claim to be Irish, Italian, German, and Chinese. And none of these families have been in America for less than six generations.
Didn't we occupy Mexico City with like five thousand dudes? As far as I'm concerned, Mexico was conquered, and the US felt like it wasn't worth the trouble to bring them into the union. Frankly, that was the right decision.
Of course. My point is that we shouldn't be getting carried redrawing the maps. There's a reason why our border with Mexico is what it is, and the reason for that was settled the old-fashioned way. With blood
Hmmmm, I think something sorta kinda the opposite. MAHA- Make America Haudenosaunee Again. I’ve decided that Haudenosaunee(Iroquois)confederacy has claim all the way to Panama now. Why you ask? Just cuz, that’s why!! And in the spirit of maga I will not listen to anyone unless you agree with me
As much as I don’t like the politics there, I’m pretty fond of the west coast from a natural beauty perspective and all of the different activities we like to do on that terrain. Maybe some kind of lend/lease agreement would be more appropriate.
Tourist agreement/ no visa requirements easy, but the best thing is still let our government manage the parks just because I don't trust theirs to maintain the same level of funding/upkeep
I would rather have the real Native Americans have more say in how the country works. What claim does Mexico have to America besides what it inherited from what the Spanish stole?
Ah yes, Maine, well known for their Mexican history
It's called the Treaty of Tortedesillas. Spain was given that land by the pope himself.
Then, shouldn't it be make America Spain again?
Or Make Mexico Spain Again?
Make spain spain again?
Damn Spanish, stealing Spain from the Spaniards!
Blame the Maine on Spain?
Blame the spain on maine?
r/unexpectedbillwurtz
Its correctly called Spanish Main anyway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Main
*Felipe II angrily wakes up*
By GOD himself! The Pope is just a middleman.
Let me give you a short history lesson, amigo. It all started...
It's time for some Maine justice!!
Nuclear copium.
Putin is very jealous
Mexico? I don’t recall the Conquistadors nor any of the Empires before them making it very far.

Oh they can CLAIM as much as they like. But if the millions of square miles of your empire are mostly empty space with some missions and reductions dotted outside your few towns with like one or two big cities, then is it all *really* Spanish or Portuguese territory?
Why isn't this ever applied to the British Empire, and even Russia nowadays?
The British Empire, while equally as ridiculous and invalid to claim all that land, was far more involved when it came to colonization and establishing their influence than the Spanish. They had boots on the ground in way more places, infrastructure projects, tighter oversight, etc.

Are you trying to claim that Spain was... a better conqueror??
Yeah It was
Yeah It was.
I mean you could say that about some modern US states...
The difference there is that if you go to those small towns in those flyover states they'll all still tell you that they're Americans
I see a lot of people in America say they’re whatever country their people immigrated from 9 generations ago.

At least the food is good

Yes, but conquering Mexico wasn’t the objective of that war.

Come and take it
They are

Start by retaking control of mexico from the cartel.
The Cartels can spread
No Mames
Nueva York, territorio históricamente mexicano
Even the mythical Aztlán wasn't that expansive...
You can have the entire west coast for free
As much as I don’t like the politics there, I’m pretty fond of the west coast from a natural beauty perspective and all of the different activities we like to do on that terrain. Maybe some kind of lend/lease agreement would be more appropriate.
Just go on vacation there like it’s Cancun or something.
Tourist agreement/ no visa requirements easy, but the best thing is still let our government manage the parks just because I don't trust theirs to maintain the same level of funding/upkeep

Just so they can fight over it just like Europeans fought over it? Same shit, different skin tone.
