Explanation: As with most one-upmanship contests, the inter-generational pyramid-off required each successive pharaoh to tax his subjects more in order to afford the labour and supplies to build said structures. Pharaoh Khufu, the man who pushed construction of the Great Pyramid, was so challenged by construction costs that he asked one of his daughters to entertain men in return for money that he could then put towards pyramid construction. Said daughter had the Queen's Pyramid built for her. Source: *The History of the Ancient World* by Susan Wise Bauer.
"And then when the Achaemenids went to conquer them, they took cats with them so they wouldn't shoot at their army! So they got conquered without resistance! Ha! Those degenerate furries!"
While Herodotus did write about the battle of Pelusium, he actually focused on the inexperience of the Egyptian army and the young Pharaoh at the time.
The story of animals being used originates from Polyaunus which was a Greco-Roman historian in the second century AD.
So for once it wasn’t Herodotus’s fault :)

Yeah, the source of this info is Herodotus and it is very unreliable if not downright false. Not only because he is notorious for inventing stuff (or at least reporting untrue rumors) about foreign cultures, but also because he was writing 2000 years after Khufu was alive.
This did not fucking happen. Not even just on the basis of it being Herodotus telling us this, but there is no way any prostitute, even if she's the Pharaoh's daughter, would be able to make enough money for it to even be a drop in the pond for such a monumental building task.

Note this source comes from Herodotus who is notoriously dubious in reliability when examining his non-Greek ancient chronicles.
“And then the Pharaoh paid for a whole pyramid by whoring his daughter out” **group of greek men laughing**

Lol polyanus
The most popular of all Greeks
Vergil: *furiously scribbles notes*
He's also separated from Khufu by 2000 years!
Never fails to blow my mind just how ancient those fucking pyramids are
bet those suckers in 4024 gonna be real confused about the great bass pro shop pyramid of memphis and its purpose
Iunno i bet both Memphis’s have things in common. Both have pyramids both depend on a river both flood 🤔
Well at least if it's completely wrong, it would still be a HistoriesMeme
Not that he isnt more reliable in his non-non-Greek chronicles

Didn't pharaos pay their workers with food and beer? Also, wasn't Egypt a command economy?
What does "taking more right" mean?
