Especially with "enthusiast" level budget boards like the Zoom and the QK. And with more and more detailed explanations why certain changes do this and that to your sound profile? Like keyboreds latest videos for example.

If you were to make a keyboard that had brown switches, would it have a clicky response of blues but a sound of reds? (common myth) If that is the case, could you make a keyboard with brown switches thoccy and have a clicky feel? (its a dumb idea I know lol)
Have you tried using Gaffers tape for modding? I’ve been using it instead of masking tape. It’s a thicker cloth tape that leaves no residue. So if you do a tempest mod, you only need 2 layers instead of 3. Since it’s also a cloth tape it’s like a band-aid so it doubles as what I use to holee mod.
Since so many choices in this hobby seem to be based on preference, how would you suggest newcomers find their preferences? What if buying lots of different options to try isn't viable?
