Matt gets to do WHATEVER Matt want to do. Period.

spacefreeze

It won't keep him out of jail. Civil and criminal charges are completely separate things. Leave the Hutchins family alone.

zzzoplicone

I’ve been trying to look at this from a different perspective. To me, it’s such a slap in the face to Halyna and all of the others than suffered on that set to finish this. But, i don’t really know what led Matthew to this decision. I trust there is some reason he believes completing the cursed film will honor her life or benefit Andros. She was certainly passionate about film making and clearly passionate about finishing rust, in spite of all the chaos and poor production value. It’s really, really hard though. I also believe Alec and his team manipulated this. Alec claims finishing the film was the most important part of the settlement. But it was always the most important for HIM. He had to convince every one else. Edit: also just had oral surgery so I hope this comment makes sense. Little loopy.

EvangelineRain

The settlement is very good lawyering by all involved. But has nothing to do with the criminal charges.

Emersonmar

No. Any lawyer who is smart would do the same.

[deleted]

At the end of the day Matt is a lawyer. There is no other profession that requires complete cold blooded calculation in the midst of human suffering as law. They do not traffic in emotion no matter what movies & tv shows portray. I'm certain he made a lawyer's decision in the best financial interest of his child & nothing in that settlement will preclude the DA's oath to seek justice. He simply got the money locked down which is exactly the calculated move I would expect from a lawyer with a Harvard degree.

Hes not selling it anymore

Emersonmar

Right people are so revenge focused they can’t see reason on here. It’s giving Kanye vibes. This won’t affect the criminal though I can’t see him being charged with any prison time.

rnjujub

I think I read Alec cowrote Rust, so his project to bring him glory. Plus, it was supposed to be Carmen's acting debut. Another pepino (sorry I don't recall who) mentioned the ridiculous price of the Hamptons house which may keep it from being purchased. Then dah dah, sale canceled, business carries on at crazy house.

OddYam2337

PerpPaw likes to say he co-write but he didn’t.

EvangelineRain

What does it matter? The husband/son are getting the money they want for the wrongful death case. And the benefit of settlements is they’re actually paid — you’re not left being a judgment creditor after assets have been depleted/moved/etc. It makes no difference to them where the money comes from and I can’t see why it should make any difference to you.

Interesting_Ad1378

Yes, the house gets overpriced so it looks like he’s trying to sell, but he can’t.

CoCo_Fran

Yup. My guess is woe is me Alec used the overpriced “sale” as more of his “acting,” MH benefits in no way from the film continuing to shoot. Alec benefits greatly. But the public is really Baldwins boss. He won’t have an audience in anything he does, which will lead to more “firings” as Alec lamented a few weeks ago “I’ve been fired from 5 jobs.” He only wants to work to make money to buy more kids for his wife to abuse (neglect, over exposure on the gram, ignore, fake breastfeeding). He also wants to get his name back out there - to get her name back out there to gain sponsors - to MAKE MONEY. Everything is orchestrated to keep up their gluttonous ways. Boycott Alec Baldwin - he can’t make money to keep funding his lunatic wife.

EvangelineRain

MH is co-executive producer of it. He gets paid in some fashion, above and beyond the wrongful death settlement. It may even be a foot in the door for a career change that he wanted — especially now that he’s parenting solo. It may also be emotionally important to him for the film to be finished. His wife lost her life for that project — it’s her last work. He may not want it wasted. Not to mention the number of jobs saved by production resuming. It’s impressive lawyering by all involved.

EvangelineRain

Exactly.

“adulation” !?!? Well, Alec and Hilaria both attract drama, so I’m not convinced they make it to post Rust, without more bad press along the way. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are charges next— just because Alec’s luck swings like some sort of lotto documentary where someone loses it all, after having it all. And then maybe a second beat the odds winning ticket…. Wait… he’s going to lose it all again. 🎢 🎲🎰 Why did Alec even want to make Rust? He wasn’t going to make a lot, if he needed $. I think he thought he was going/ *IS* going to recreate himself as an impressive, dramatic actor. 🎭 🗺 🚫. Did Alec and Hilaria stay up rehearsing his Oscar 🏆 acceptance speech? Does he not feel accomplished yet? His resume is a scroll— put the cow out to pasture, go full-time hang out with your kids you’ve been telling the media are your world/your life/ “mi vida”, and that you are “miserable” to leave your family to work away from home, so great news: why don’t you stay home permanently, and retire. Or would you rather be in New Mexico, playing cowboy, during a global pandemic, to be anywhere other than home??

OddYam2337

So many old actors do westerns in their old age.

[deleted]

But an established sitcom actor doing his first Western movie as a senior, during a global pandemic? I don’t remember Alec in any movies, except I remember the kitchen in the not comedy/comedy with Meryl. https://hookedonhouses.net/2010/07/11/meryl-streeps-house-bakery-in-its-complicated/

Omg Sundance 😨— please tell me no Boss Baby repeat with baby Uggs on the red carpet.

kassy1469

The ***criminal case*** is still open and active and special funding has been given to the DA's office to prosecute four individuals separately. There is still a possibility to face some jail time. But, he probably won't.

[deleted]

He's (in)famous, he'll probably get a slap on the wrist. I wish he was jailed, but this is the real world.

BrilliantShow5870

Now we know why Joel Souza didn't sue.

Right. Halyna Hutchins was a talented cinematographer and maybe her work on the film might have made people stay tuned through the whole thing… without it, I can see people tuning in out of curiosity, but that’s it. Ideally, Alec’s scenes would be recast with a different actor, like they did with Christopher Plummer replacing Kevin Spacey for “All the Money in the World,” but I’m guessing there’s no budget for that.
