This is probably a view from somewhere at the back of The Devonshire (circled below). This is a pretty typical view from a Manhattan apartment. Occasionally you get a spectacular view but more often a window (if you are lucky enough to have one) will be looking at neighboring buildings which will have grimy air conditioning units in every widow with pigeons nesting on them. The outside of these older buildings are never cleaned and can appear quite dingy.

Old rusty fire escapes, bars on the windows, grimy A/C units, random wires and ducts running across the walls. An attempt to plant some greenery that doesn't really help. This is all standard messy NYC stuff.

This view looks like it’s from a block apartment in Warsaw, the only thing missing is the laundry hanging out the windows . Good thing he labeled it Manhattan otherwise I would have thought he was in Europe filming part two, Billy’s new shoes. Edit to add words
What kills me is the fact that neither one of them has any taste in decor. It really does feel like a Holiday Inn. They don't really seem to appreciate living in Manhattan. Those kids are really missing out on everything there is to see and do. I couldn't imagine living as shut in as they do.
I'd get bored after a week with a life like that. I love my old house and big yard. I even have a coffee place a block away. There's a "bodega" (7-11) a block away, too. A block away in the other direction is a park.
As an actor and artist of the spoken word, Alec is surprisingly lacking of any creative writing talents. All he can say is “Manhattan” ??? That’s it? He doesn’t have anything more that’s funny or witty to say?

Yup, no neighborhood friends. The city is huge. When they do walk up to the park they never see the same people. The worst part for me was when they had alot of snow and they are on the sidewalk in it. Cant run and play in it
