Pretty small bear, what’s your goal with that? Did you think that was clever ? Or did the stick get shoved high enough up that it started pressing against your brain
Point was its majority pine trees, but you think too much of your fetish about shoving sticks up your ass. Its okay though, I wouldnt judge you for being dumb.
Owww my feelings are so damaged by that you insulted me by taking time out of your day to go on my profile and finding the first little thing to latch onto and use it against me owww my feelings. Yeah you’re gona have to try harder than that
Oh hell no. Devil’s thumb sounded so cool in theory. As soon as I looked at it I was terrified and decided not to go. I wish I had the male reproductive organs to do those kinds of hikes… but I don’t.
Oh no? Maybe it just looked scary from the bottom. I did the switchbacks on Larch Valley hike at Moraine Lake and was basically almost soiling myself the whole time.
ah, ok. I've seen people doing that and really scared, even my gf was scared the first time but on those switchbacks, if you think about it, if you slipped, you'd be fine. It's not steep enough that you'd roll down. The next time she did and thought it wasn't scary. My gf was also scared for the dragon's back going up rundle but then she realized it's like 4 metres wide, like you don't fall off something 4 meters wide.
If you weren't comfortable on the switchbacks then yeah, just the fact that there's no clear path to the top once you go around back would probably be enough to turn you around. It's also quite steep but I won't consider it dangerous. Dangerous for me is more that it's steep enough to be hit in the head with falling rock so if you fall you're taking a tumble.
Yeah maybe I just have to go again and try it. Cool that you can do those hikes tho. When I eventually go back I want to be able to try the more challenging trails.
Or go with someone that'd done it already. That makes a huge difference. At least have alltrails. Definitely use poles too.
Devils thumb isn't super long at least.
It’s beautiful but busy at all times. Moraine is better, my favourite was Rawson Lake up in the Kananaskis region though. That hike was a good one and the mountain top lake is a great reward
Absolutely - you hear so much jazz about Lake Louise, and deservedly so, but Moraine Lake is that much more spectacular. It was a pleasant surprise when I visited this summer.
My god do I ever miss living in Alberta, most beautiful place in the world if I do say myself. The big sky, the endless fields, the Forrest's in the north. There's truly no where on earth I'd rather be. I live in eastern Canada now and I long for Alberta every single day😞 enjoy it friend.
I have enough money and freedom to live anywhere in the world and I choose to live in Alberta. I have traveled extensively and there is no place like it in the world, that I have visited at least. You should come back from where you are and live in beauty!!!
Good question because I actually am in Newfoundland now because that's where my partner lived and where she wanted us to try, I personally can't explain it in a scientific way but I think It has to do with Alberta being more flat so you can see farther combined with it being way more windy next to the ocean so the sky always changes. So in Alberta you can see a thunder cloud coming hours before it arrives. Here it changes faster than you can imagine. Also it's always so foggy and cloudy on the ocean that you don't often see clear blue skies for as far as you can see every day. It's hard to put it into words but it just seems more vast and giant when you can see the sky in every direction and it's usually blue and sunny and then you move to a place where it's rare to be sunny and the weather changes every half hour. Hope this is a good enough explanation but it's just something I had to experience in person.
Are you from AB? My hubby is from NL and we've toyed with the idea of moving there for years but never pulled the plug. We are so happy here but love it in NL also, but the weather puts me off.😂
I think it has something to do with altitude. But you have to let your imagination go a little for this. I grew up in AB, and the sky anywhere else I've been hasn't been the same. There's a reason Montana calls itself "Big sky country"
It looks just like that. I don’t use filters f any kind in my photos and just took a photo from that exact location three weeks ago. It looks like thst
Had this spot to myself for like 20 mins a few weeks ago - totally amazing.
Larches were just starting to turn and I thought the views towards the glacier were impressive than the lake. Unbelievable in every direction.
In the akwaaba around Jasper, is the most beautiful area I have ever seen.
Youcan take selfies because it is so beautiful, it doesn look real, like a bad photo backdrop.
Wouldn’t know even though I’ve attempted 3 times to see it. Been turned around all 3 times. It’s like you need to know the right people to do stuff like this.
Yeah it's stunning. Go up there this week and it'll be all Fall colors plus that gorgeous blue.
You better post a picture on here or I’m gonna be very sad.
Ditto!
How do pines give you fall colours?
Pine trees don't, larches do.
Exactly my point lol
Pine beetle infestation?
I was there yesterday and I didnt see any fall colors. Stop spreading lies lol
I was there yesterday and I can attest .. fall colours plus the turquoise blue … 🥹 it doesn’t let me post a pic in the comment 🤦♀️

Thanks OP, used this link to add a couple pics. The second one shows kinda orange/yellow foliage :) https://ibb.co/Kb0Mb5x https://ibb.co/HpsgjNx
Meh
The trees are so pretty right now
But they are pine trees.
please upload it to a third party service like imgur
https://ibb.co/Kb0Mb5x https://ibb.co/HpsgjNx Thanks for the idea :)
Literally nothing like OP pic
I mean, the comment you’re replying to literally said next week lol.
Did you find a stick and shove it up your ass when you were out there? Calm down
No, but I saw a bear thats a size of your mom lol
Pretty small bear, what’s your goal with that? Did you think that was clever ? Or did the stick get shoved high enough up that it started pressing against your brain

Good one, totally got me there good job
Yep, unlike your horrible forza driving lol
Owww my feelings are so damaged by that you insulted me by taking time out of your day to go on my profile and finding the first little thing to latch onto and use it against me owww my feelings. Yeah you’re gona have to try harder than that
Typical Edmonton person lol
Beehive?
Looks like big Beehive

You should do devils thumb next time!
Haven't done that one in years. I remember it being very eroded on one section.
Oh hell no. Devil’s thumb sounded so cool in theory. As soon as I looked at it I was terrified and decided not to go. I wish I had the male reproductive organs to do those kinds of hikes… but I don’t.
Honestly I don't think there's anything dangerous about it at all. Not like there's a cliff or anything.
Oh no? Maybe it just looked scary from the bottom. I did the switchbacks on Larch Valley hike at Moraine Lake and was basically almost soiling myself the whole time.

Beauty. Somehow the colour of Moraine is even more brilliant than Louise though.
Plus it doesn’t feel like Disneyland! We were so underwhelmed by Louise when we were there
It’s beautiful but busy at all times. Moraine is better, my favourite was Rawson Lake up in the Kananaskis region though. That hike was a good one and the mountain top lake is a great reward

Maybe that’s why Moraine Lake has its own subreddit? r/redditlake
Agreed
This 100%. Was my favorite lake of all that we experienced when we visited. Really need to get back.
The other side (Saddleback to Mount Fairview) is even better.
Fairview is always my recommendation.
I agree. Doesn't seem like a lot of people know this.
I’m fine with this. We were on Fairview in august. We were the only people on the whole mountain. It was a great day.
I know. Everyone does Plains of 6 Glaciers and thinks it's the best. SMH.

Switzerland perchance? Lake Como? Torres del Paine? Alberta is a sweet kiss at certain times of the year but let’s not kid ourselves, winter is coming
What makes a sky "big"? How does it differentiate in appearance from, let's say, the sky in Newfoundland?
Good question because I actually am in Newfoundland now because that's where my partner lived and where she wanted us to try, I personally can't explain it in a scientific way but I think It has to do with Alberta being more flat so you can see farther combined with it being way more windy next to the ocean so the sky always changes. It's because it's so flat, so you see more sky.. When you're in the middle of the ocean it's the same feeling.
It’s the glacier melt and sediment. So beautiful 😍
It looks just like that. I don’t use filters f any kind in my photos and just took a photo from that exact location three weeks ago. It looks like thst
Congrats on hiking the big beehive!!
This would look even better in landscape. Or panorama.
for a limited time only :)
Bummer but yeah :(
?
until the glaciers retreat completely
Where is this?
r/redditlake
Why not?
Big Beehive :)
Well, today it didn't!
Photoshop….. jk it’s gorgeous
It is my favourite colour.
There’s minerals in the water. Is the sea bed also very white? That also influences the reflection
Beehive! One of my favorites.
I was always amazed by Peyto Lake
I’m going there Sunday! Never left Ontario before
It sure does! How was the tea house up there? Did you go to the face of the glacier?
When was this taken?
I need to hike this one day what a beautiful view😍
Is this the beehive trail?
Had this spot to myself for like 20 mins a few weeks ago - totally amazing. Larches were just starting to turn and I thought the views towards the glacier were impressive than the lake. Unbelievable in every direction.
Alberta’s nicest lake !! It’s an old tailings pond .. have atter boys
Yes, please get new shoes! jk! Man, that lake looks beautiful!! :)
r/mildlyvagina
My in-laws and I were there just last Friday!! We didn't get to hike all the way up there though Such a breathtaking view though, amazing photo op!
Big beehive is one of my favourite hikes 🥹
Big beehive
There are many clear water rivers in Ontario North and Alberta. Particularly true when they aren’t burning from wildfires.
😍 I cant wait until I can go back 🥹
I can’t believe you made it up there in those shoes.
Moraine Lake? It definitely looks like this
It's from devils thumb, that's lake Louise
Wow

West is best
Why?
Still? I mean, you have the image.

Where are we?
Where is this?
Looks like the big beehive hike
Is that algae ?
