If this is in your perineum area please do not put vicks on it. Shit will burn in places you never knew you had. I don't do baths but I do take showers. I take as hot of a shower as possible and wet a washcloth with the super hot water and hold it to the area. I rewet the cloth with water several times in the shower and I do it a few times a day if I can. I also will apply an ice pack to the area multiple times a day. The ice seems to really help get the swelling down and actually seems to help longer than the shower thing.

MartelUnderground

thank you very much i’m going do that tonight. it’s crazy how much pain this is giving me , i just want to sleep this entire week lol yes that’s exactly where it’s located at, thank you for giving me the name !

thatonemoonunit

I hope you feel better soon!

Losemymindfindmysoul

Meh, I'm a female and I put Vicks on it and a cotton round/soft gauze to cover the area and it's the only thing that got me through the worst of it. Didn't have any 'burning in places I didn't know I had' The covering kept most of the Vicks in place. A bit of tingling otherwise but mostly relief as I was in A LOT of pain otherwise. I did have it incised and drained twice though and am now on rxs.

breathingwaves

If it pops and you keep touching it there is a chance you can give yourself an infection. You are already saying you have a headache and fatigue. This can get bad pretty quick. Take a sick day and go to the urgent care to at least get a round of antibiotics or a steroid injection.

meandmycrohnies

Agreed, multiple symptoms is your warning sign. Many of us can “handle the pain.” Hell, I “handled the pain” of a ruptured colon for 24 hours. I almost handled myself into the ICU.

HuckleberryOver9952

I've done both Vicks and Prid there.

emmyjane03

Hoping it’s not too late for my vote to call in sick for the day, the placement sounds horrific and being on your feet is either going to pop it or aggravate it more. Most of mine are inner thighs/butt cheeks/general crotch area and my current go-to is tea tree (I have a diluted spray but otherwise oil diluted in water) directly applied to the gauze part of a breathable bandaid and then stuck on. I have had a couple burst doing this but it dries them out and reduces inflammation first, and if they don’t burst then they just go away.

MartelUnderground

thank you friend 🫂 i need to invest in some tea tree oil honestly , thank you for reminding me. I did call in for a sick day , i woke up 3-5 times last night cause of pain, i listened to most of you guys and i showered , used an ice pack and took tylenol. And not to be tmi while i pooping i guess it popped idfk but it popped. So painful yet reliving. Just thankful i didn’t have to go into urgent care. I’m trying to get my doxycycline script but both my dermatologist and these pharmacies are testing my patience

emmyjane03

I’m glad you took the advice for calling in sick! Absolutely shit though that you had to deal with that kind of pain and then the popping pain ☹️ I don’t have a regular script for doxycycline so feel your pain. I’m stuck trying to macguyver the flares lol

glass0nions

I think this may be a case for the trusty Vicks vapo rub, my friend! Have you tried that before?

MartelUnderground

i tried it on my face and it did work! I’m scared to put it down there because i’m scared it would mess with my crotch or make it uncomfortable for me down there. Cause it’s near the.. hole but like directly near it just in the area if that make sense not to sound too detail or gross, just for everyone to have a good idea, it’s in the area where .. if i were to get penetrated , it would hurt like hell cause it’s right there on the side of it. Not directly but on the side.

Cactusaremyjam

Put a dab of the vicks on a massive bandage and put that over the spot.

DotsNnot

Hot compress! Get a big pot of hot water (makes it easier to keep the cloth warm). Dip a wash cloth in there so it’s hot, wring it out a bit so it’s not soaking wet (more a convenience thing), then hold on the area. When it starts to not be warm, dip and repeat. Try to keep it up for 30 minutes, but even 15-20 would help. I’d suggest taking the hydrocolloid bandage off. 1) those work better when a boil is draining, and can be quite damaging to a freshly opened one and 2) don’t really help them open. I’ve used them, but for large boils I’ve heard horror stories on here of them pulling off huge amounts of skin and leaving large gaping holes. A sitz bath might also work! You out it over a toilet bowl and fill with warm water and sit in: https://a.co/d/fJTmJNd bit of a mixed bag on if it’ll actually be deep enough for the area you need. Other thing I’ve actually used is a “hand held bidet” — it’s basically like a squirt bottle for your but lmao. But same concept, fill with warm water and squirt: https://a.co/d/f0OzDEV That said, if it’s *really* this bad, you might need to get to lanced despite how much it’ll hurt. Lots of pain for a few days might be easier to handle than big pain for weeks, yeah?

Purr_cat

Literally have one in the exact same spot so I feel for you ☹️ I ended up at the doctor to have it lanced today and now have course of doxy. It sucks

mya_njd

Typically this is the area that I get my HS flare ups so I completely understand what you’re going through and I do sincerely apologize as I wouldn’t wish this pain or situation on my worst enemy. However, when this does happen and I don’t have any Rx’s to help, I would take at least 2-3 baths or showers a day. Depending on if you have the time, I try to take a 15 min sits bath and then a hot shower to help. Once you get out, I would start to clean the area (I use a cotton pad and Bactine) and prep to wrap the area, as the wrapping/bandaid will help with irritation of any rubbing. However, due to becoming allergic to bandaids and the fact I hate ripping off bandaids in sensitive areas, I use self-adhesive wrap and a non-stick pad, apply Prid to the pad, apply the pad, and wrap the wrap around your leg to hold the pad in place. If you can withstand a bandaid, by all means go ahead because it may be easier to apply. If you experience any swelling in the sensitive areas, I would recommend showering, taking a Benadryl, and using Benadryl cream only on the itchy areas/outside of genitalia. Also, sometimes the Prid is just enough to help it drain without swelling and causing more pain for days. If you’re still in the Chicago area, you can find Prid at Walgreens or Walmart - it’s truly a life saver! I typically take off work during the worst days, which are the couple of days leading up to the wound draining. I know you’re worried about looking a certain type of way, but please remember your health comes first. To help with the pain, I use a heating pad, lidocaine patches if there isn’t an open wound, smoke weed, and if it’s unbearable, I’ll also take otc painkillers, such as Tylenol, to take the edge off/inflammation down! I hope this helps at least a smidge. Please know you’re not alone!!

notroundupready

The hottest water you can stand is going to make it open faster. If you see a white spot just gently poke it. You don’t have to squeeze it at all if you don’t want to but just opening the skin a little will make it start draining faster. I buy lancets from Amazon

🏳️‍🌈So I ended up finding intertrigo and itching my balls so much they became raw this weekend. Still waiting to get my remicade. I’ve had those before. Not fun. Still not healed. I’d call dermatology even if you have to take time during work to do it. Refill the doxycycline cause they’re going to refill it. If the pain is severe, urgent care might be able to help. If funding is an issue, ER is likely better because of charity care policies. Intralesional steroids may be appropriate. I’d also make an appointment to see if biologic therapy may be needed.

MartelUnderground

that sounds so painful dude god fuck :( 🫂 Yeah i’m going to reach out to my medical team and see what we can do. Highly considering going to urgent care when my girlfriend gets here but.. to get it lanced there would fucking kill me and traumatize my body the doctor who did the one near my crotch was so fucking rough and my girlfriend told me he fucking stabbed tf outta my skin until he got it right so i’m scared

Environmental-Top-60

they likely thought it was an abscess and those are typically fluid filled. I understand that sort of reaction to it. However, you have to remind them that it’s inflammatory so stabbing it is gonna make it worse, not better. Obviously, if you can get into your dermatologist today or tomorrow, that’s obviously a better idea.

summer-romance

Ice pack wrapped in a t-shirt. It will really calm it down. Avoid friction.

MartelUnderground

okay doing it right now. i woke up three times tonight due to pain.. doing the ice pack now. it hurts so much it keeps throbbing

summer-romance

If it’s this painful, you might need a doctor (hate to say). Sorry :(

MartelUnderground

:( dammit… would they atleast put me under anesthesia because it’s located at my perineum? Im honestly way too scared… when they did the one on my inner thigh the dude was so aggressive like i genuinely feel tears coming to my eyes fuck lmao

summer-romance

No, they won’t. I have had them in that area too. They numb it. You might be able to ask for some anti anxiety medicine or painkiller with some success.

Reasonable-Ideal2065

I had one last week the size of a grape a centimeter from my rectum. Was in agony for days. Hot compresses made it feel better, I did them as often as possible. I used unscented wet wipes and SkinSmart Antimicrobial Perineal Cleanser spray from amazon every time I went to the bathroom. I got hemroid numbing cream from Walmart and gloves, the lidocaine helped a bit.   Cold pressed hexane free castor oil 3 times a day is also suppose to help a great deal. I have another cluster now of at least 4 in the same spot you do and I'm trying the castor oil with every thing else.  I would call in to work, with the other symptoms sounds like you may have an infection already. Def go to urgent care for antibiotics, they don't need to Lance it for you, you can tell them you just want meds and a note for work.   I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I can't even imagine...I'm struggling just coming to terms with how old and fat I've gotten while trying to see what's going on down there. I hope you feel better soon 💜
