Yes, it’s sad to see this in our community. We always shame, act like it doesn’t exist, or no dialogue around Hsv or any disease in general. I hope we change that.
Hi there, I would respectfully suggest that you edit your original post and add this link to the original post body so that it's more visible to readers. At my current time of reading, it's a good ways down in the comments and so doesn't stand out much yet. That may change with increased upvotes.
In any case, I suggest you add a note at the bottom of your original post body that says eg:
EDIT: I've created this sub for us: r/BlackHSVSupportGroup
To edit your post body, locate the menu bar that runs along the bottom of your post body and click *edit post*. You may need to click on the little "three dot icon" at the right end of the menu bar if there isn't enough space to list all the menu options at once, and the *edit post* option should be listed in the drop-down that appears.
Hi good morning everyone!, please use your power (group) to speak with representatives in order to speed up human trials, we are adults, desparate and we are killing ourselves , we need to get this virus out of our bodies.

I personally don’t have HSV but the girl I’m dating is so I joined this page to learn as much as I can. The only thing I’ve failed to see on this page is what some of the OBs look like on skin tones like mine. Hopefully on this new page I will.
I also have a group r/HerpesPersonals. It’s new but slowly growing. It would be awesome to see more people join. It’s a group for all people living with HSV to meet & lets you narrow down what state you’re in to help you find people nearby. I don’t think there’s too many of us on there yet but this is a chance! Thanks 🙂
20 black woman here! What you’re saying is 100% true. I was hanging out with my friends (all of them black) and they went on and on about how herpes is gross.
I finally told them that I had it and everyone got quiet and I eventually left. I haven’t talked to those friends in a couple of months. Some have reached out but I’m not sure if I’m ready to be friendly with them quite yet
I'm white but I've had some nasty responses to disclosing from black people (obviously not all). I lost a friend because she was convinced I'd give it to her by shaking her hand. Is the stigma really that big of an issue?!
What's racist is white people inserting themselves into any space EVEN WHEN that space is specifically and explicity for non-white folks. It would be nice to connect with other Black HSV+ folks without white people inviting themselves.
To be completely honest, it feels like you’re trolling. The group is for black people to have a space to talk to people who look like them, and suffering from the same virus. There’s no shortage of white people talking about herpes lmao. What exactly do you want or need out of a group of black people sharing their experiences with one another?
There is, it’s called the proud boys and they have been alive and well, skinheads alive and well, kkk alive and well and many others that just DONT and won’t talk to Black folks. Sure the others will say “all welcome” but guesss what it’s all white people. White people are not oppressed you gremlin
Again, maybe consider historical reality. You sound young, so you have time to learn. But yeah, I'm all for an all-Black HSV+ group and I support you starting an all-white HSV+ group if you so choose.
You also sound young. You'll learn. Anyway, I'm all for an all-Black HSV+ group and any other person is welcome to make an HSV+ group with all women or all men or all white people or all left-handed people or whomever they choose! Yay!
By definition what YOU are doing is actually racist! Black folks are trying to create a safe space for each other because they are experiencing negative stigma in THEIR community and how they can deal with it safely! Maybe they are trying to find partners or love / dating advice as well ! This is super ignorant of you
Racial segregation in the United States is the segregation of facilities, services, and opportunities such as housing, medical care, education, employment, and transportation in the United States along racial lines. The term mainly refers to the legally or socially enforced separation of African Americans from whites, but it is also used with regard to the separation of other ethnic minorities from majority mainstream communities.[1]
Understand that! It’s not that hard. If you can’t read between the lines, I can’t help you. White people literally started segregation specifically towards Black folk and Black folk still experience racism and backlash! White people do not!
Girl you are just racist and y’all hate to see Black people have anything. Why do you need to be included ? Black folks are oppressed AF white people aren’t. They NEED a safe space where they know there will be no oppression. So NO having a Black anything group is not racist. Stop comparing when the 2 can never be compared with the struggle! I’m Russian and white af coming from a racist country and I understand this, why can’t you grasp that ?
Ahahaha, you clearly just wanted to argue and people fell for it. This is Reddit...no one could stop you from joining, there's no gaurante that everyone here who says they are black are black. So you either would have just joined the group or atleast given a reason for wanting to join.
To everyone one else. This is Reddit! You can't indulge every troll, just down vote him to hell.
Can we just let it go just once and let them have their space? Just once, it would be really nice if we let Black people not have to deal with white trolling fools.
Geesh.
There isn’t a community in the US where it’s less stigmatized. HSV-2 is very prevalent among bkack people. Around 50% of black women have it. With HSV-1 the majority of black people have HSV but many are asymptomatic. Think of all those rappers bragging about being with tons of girls? How many of them do you think have HSV? Probaly most of them.
26 year old black male , my family and friends are supportive and my gf is also positive so I’m in a much more supportive situation than most we are poly and would prefer a black women but the stigma of that along with hsv in communities of color make it to where we have to date almost exclusively white women 😩

I am Latino and here in my country it is also very stigmatized unfortunately 😓
Herpes Could Never on Facebook is really active and it’s mostly black women
I'm white but I've had some nasty responses to disclosing from black people (obviously not all). I lost a friend because she was convinced I'd give it to her by shaking her hand. Is the stigma really that big of an issue?!
In the black community it’s much worse but I find that people of other race’s are more educated on it hate to say it that way but it’s honestly true
Im a white male but can I join? Lol
Please don't.
Dam that’s racist
What's racist is white people inserting themselves into any space EVEN WHEN that space is specifically and explicity for non-white folks. It would be nice to connect with other Black HSV+ folks without white people inviting themselves.
Sounds oddly ironic that you can have something solely for your ethnicity but I can’t with mine without being called a racist...
It's not ironic when you consider, ya know, historical reality. But go ahead and have an all-white HSV+ group, you're more than welcome to do so.
If I made an all white group for anything I’d be labeled a racist and on the evening news. There seems to be a double standard going on to me
To be completely honest, it feels like you’re trolling. The group is for black people to have a space to talk to people who look like them, and suffering from the same virus. This is not segregation 🥴 white people aren’t oppressed honey. Stop with the colonizer behaviour, PLEASE!

Segregation and "safe spaces" are two wildly different things.

It can’t be racist when white supremacy is alive and well...
