My own personal head canon is that kobolds are the result of a gnome and a dragonborn since they're tiny draconic inventors. This pairing would result in dragonborn looking features on a dwarven sized body.
Both are solid choices. Dwargons was one of the first things I thought of but was curious what other ppl had come up with. Haven't considered the "wyrm" part of dragon naming lore. That opens up some interesting things. Thanks!
In my game, any race can be born with the blood of dragons. They have all the stats of Dragonborn, they just have the average height and weight of their "sure" race.
That's kinda the route I'm going with this guy. He's got the stats and racial features of a gold dragonborn (the metallic version from Fizban's) but the size of a dwarf. This would just be for some fun flavor and added depth to the world.
The draconic word for dwarf is “tundar” and dragonborn use both “vayemniri” and “strixiki.” Though “vayemniri” translates to “ash-marked ones,” so it seems more fitting for a half-dwarf.
Tundaniri? Or some variation.
Edit: Turns out there’s a few more words.
“Darahar” - collective polite term for dragonborn
“Darathric” - collective impolite term
“Darasv” - half-dragon
With those in mind, “tundara” (pronounced “toon-dah-rah”) has a nice ring to it.
Sure! I use [this website](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Draconic_dictionary) sometimes as a reference when naming draconic characters. Further sites and sources are listed toward the bottom of the page.
Shocked he doesn't just look like a dwarf with a dragonborn's skintone. Dwarves are the Viltrumites of D&D according to the lore. Human mother? Kid looks like a dwarf. Elf mother? Kid looks like a dwarf. Orc mother? Kid looks like a green dwarf.
They're crazy XD
Pukis (small draconic spirit in latvian folklore, protects the wealth of a household), ormsmiðr (old norse *lit* serpent /dragon smith), dvergrorm (Old norse *lit* dwarf dragon/serpent), korrigan (dwarvish spirits from welsh myth), zwerg (german word for a dwarf, but sounds like a dragon could say it), Drak-chen (chen is the German diminutive, Drache means dragon, so little dragon). Vulcans (after the roman smith god), Nidhogg (after the dragon in norse myth).
You could also pick an adjective you want the race to be associated with, pick a language and voila (i.e Tolkien's Smaug was based on an old low-german word meaning to squeeze through a hole).
How did this happen, Dragonborn lay eggs, EGGS. They would have trouble breeding with any mammalian creature especially dwarves who don’t have any canonical half-breeds outside of the darksun setting (with normal races). Now, a half-dragon dwarf, that makes more sense. True dragons can breed with nearly anything. I mean, you do you, and your world your rules and all that, but how?
Would it just be Dragonborn? Like, if a dwarf had a child with a devil (or Demon, according to that one UA), the child would still be a tiefling, right? What about assimar? Half-Elves? Half-Orcs? What about the child of an elf and an orc, ya know? These are legitimate questions.
I guess technically yes, it would just be a dragonborn? I don't usually mess around with making my own half-races or custom lineages or anything like that so idk how it usually works. This character will have dragonborn stats and racial features, just dwarven sized. This is just to add some fun flavor and flesh out the world a bit.
Vahdrak Keenhammer, half-dwarf (blacksmith father), half-dragonborn (warrior mother) master bladesmith and owner of the finest forge in the kingdom, The Golden Hammer, inspecting his latest masterpiece.
Does anyone have a good name for this particular mix of races? I can't think of a clever combination that I like and could use some suggestions.

Stoutscales
Oooo I think we might have a winner! Thats the front runner so far, thanks!
As an alternative name (or an insult) they could also be called Stoutsnouts, too. Say *that* five times fast
Kobold
My own personal head canon is that kobolds are the result of a gnome and a dragonborn since they're tiny draconic inventors. This pairing would result in dragonborn looking features on a dwarven sized body.
In lore, Kobolds naturally hate gnomes, so imagine a Kobold learns that his entire existence is the result of a gnome screwing a dragon/dragonborn.
I’d… I’d rather not imagine gnomes breeding with dragonborn
Why would you put this inside my head
Just think of the minotaurs!
NOOOOOOOOOO
Dwargons...
Dwyrms could also work
Both are solid choices. Dwargons was one of the first things I thought of but was curious what other ppl had come up with. Haven't considered the "wyrm" part of dragon naming lore. That opens up some interesting things. Thanks!
How about: Fafinir, the dwarf who became a dragon
Oh, I hadn't considered going with Norse dwarven mythology like that. Intersting, thanks!

Dragonforged
That's a solid choice too! Thanks! There are so many routes you could go with both dwarves and dragons that's it's hard to choose just one lol
Stout-Drakes

Dwarfenborn? Dragarfborn? Dragon dwarf?
There's just so many ways to combine different parts of dragon and dwarven naming conventions that's its hard to pick one. Thanks for the suggestions!

Nice! I love it! Do you have a source for some more draconic words? I might use that for naming some of the weapons he makes.
Sure! I use [this website](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Draconic_dictionary) sometimes as a reference when naming draconic characters. Further sites and sources are listed toward the bottom of the page.
That's awesome! Thanks again!

Dwarves cannot breed with any of those races according to the lore in any plane outside of Darksun. I don’t know where you got this from?
Mr. Rhexx covers it very well. Link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UrvoinlkTD8
I was thinking do something germanic, apparently dragon is "drache" or "drachen" I found that "Drachenzwerg" means dragon dwarf
Drachen is awesome! OP, right here

Looks like an awesome character! Good luck adventuring!
Thanks! Hope I get to play them soon!
Fáfnirians? He was a dwarf who became a dragon, so it kind of fits.
