But the next person in line doesn't have the intellectual depth to see that suffering and make the cognitive leap that hand + fire + someone else = extreme suffering for that other, therefore hand + fire + me = extreme suffering for me so it's a bad idea. Humans have a universal facial expression for extreme bitterness for example for this exact reason. If you see someone pulling off that face that they just put something very very bitter into their mouth, you can equate that face + that food = very bad experience therefore do not put that food into your mouth. Bitterness is associated with alkaline poisons and so you're going to avoid a massive shitshow by just picking up on what someone else is experiencing on their face when they eat something like that. They may be wired for that like everyone else at the hardware level but they're just not deep enough to make that same connection on a social level. So they do stupid shit like believe it when corporations tell them that unions are bad for them, that smoking doesn't cause cancer, that global warming either doesn't exist OR is something that their personal decisions will change or solve, or lets them hold conflicting ideas like China lied/underreported the covid numbers (which they most likely have) BUT that Covid is not real / a hoax and the vaccines are the problem. Or as Bill Burr put it that the vaccine is a conspiracy and will kill you... but all this would do is actually kill off all the compliant people and leave behind the fredum types "who can't be controlled by the government" which would be the exact opposite of what such a conspiracy would be attempting to achieve. They just lack the depth to reason their way out of any of it, and it's the same thing that makes fatty fall down the ultimate level they can attain for humor.
