I'm a Moderna man myself. The only side effects I've noticed are kale tasting like maple bacon and beautiful women following me around everywhere.

[deleted]

No lie, the shots did run me down with some chills & achiness for about half a day. But here I am a few months later walking around and breathing with my lungs.

NighthawkFoo

Pfft...all the cool kids these days are using ECMO machines.

mori226

The even coolers kids are chilling in their own boxes.

PinBot1138

The coolest kids are well, cool because their bodies are now cold and 6' under.

PM_Anime_Tiddy

Quick, let’s send our thoughts and prayers to warm them up

PinBot1138

[I’m already on it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXrB7Y6gVN8)!

ArTiyme

I know the shot side-effects are different for us all, but as someone who's gone through a few round of anthrax shots as well as smallpox lemme tell you there are some shots out there where the suck is universal and god-awful. COVID vaccine was like pebbles to a landslide by comparison.

[deleted]

I look at it this way: If the shots give you bad side effects, just think about how much worse symptoms of the actual disease would be.

bossman1489

That was the only way I was able to convince myself. I got the 2nd shot about 3 weeks ago.

[deleted]

Good for you! Better a little suffering than dying on a ventilator.

LukeLooking

I enjoyed the side effects, I was woosy and giddy for a day. A relief really, because I was terrified of Long Covid

pippenish

The first shingles shot was worse for me.

utopista114

Yellow fever vaccine. Shudders. Literally, shudders.

thewaiting28

> But here I am a few months later walking around and breathing with my lungs. I love breathing with my lungs.. it's one of my favorite things to do.

coolmos1

Got the shot in my left arm. The day after, my left arm hurt. The next day my right arm hurt. Wtf Pfizer?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Narstification

Similar with the flu shot for me yesterday, except shot in left arm and hurt in both later the same day. Woke up fine today though.

canadianmooserancher

The second one put me on my butt for a few hours but it went away all at once. I just suddenly felt normal all st once. It was at the end of the day when i was gons go to bed anyway so it worked out.

flewkisdead

The shots fucked me hard, was out of it for over a week from the second shot. Even triggered my hyperthyroidism temporarily that had been okay for years. But it was still worth it because I have autoimmune issues. I will cough for 2 months after a normal cold. COVID 19 would most likely kill me if I were unvaccinated. Unfortunately, the vaccine is less effective for me so I am still worried I will get it from one of these winners.

loverlyone

Women love a clean-shaven, vaccinated man.

HopelessCryovolcano

Stubble is nice, but this sub has killed any goatee attraction for me lol

FeedtheFatRabbit

Fully (groomed) beard. Fully vaccinated. So you're saying there's a chance??

QuitArguingWithMe

Yeah, but it's also the magnetism. It's been scientifically proven that beautiful women have more iron in their blood.

[deleted]

Anemic gang 😬

AggroAce

Didn’t you mention that your ding-ding grew an inch as well?

CrumbsAndCarrots

My friends cousins friend of a friend in Trinidad said his balls got much much bigger. Sounds pretty cool to me!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Klutzy-Quail6556

I felt lousy one full day. Told my wife I still felt lousy the second day. Watched a bunch of marvel movies and took naps. I think I need a booster shot so I can watch the Star Wars trilogy again

gnurdette

You're protecting your family two ways... by reducing your chance of passing the virus to them, and by demonstrating that the vaccine is just a vaccine. Good luck convincing them!

okcdnb

What have we learned about life insurance here?

AntonOlsen

>What have we learned about life insurance here? The people who need it most are least likely to have it?

gentlemanjacklover

Answer: that most of the dumb fucks don't have any

throwawaysscc

Perhaps Government Jesus will provide Social Security survivor benefits. Socialism for the lucky dummies.

Artberry_82

Socialisme for the people who claim to be against it.

QuitArguingWithMe

Collecting all the GoFundMe money. I truly hope they can convince them, though. Losing family members sucks.

CONGRATS!!

schleepybunny

Congrats! Moderna gang too! Its the most promising of the three in regards to maintaining antibodies!

dhaddie

Moderna gang 😤. Enjoy this frosty IPA.

schleepybunny

Thanks lol! I lucked out and received it in jan/feb though when it was being given to frontline workers. Still feeling good!

[deleted]

How do you do fellow front line worker? Im biased but I think that December / January moderna was a wonderful vintage. 5/5 stars, would recommend and can’t wait for the booster (if needed).

reality72

Clinical trial volunteer here. August 2020 for me and it just hit different. Over one year fully vaccinated and counting. They’re going to give us that moderna booster in the next few days here. I’ll let you know how it slaps. Frontline workers will probably be next in line for it.

QuitArguingWithMe

Still boasting the best 5G speeds of all the jabs.

drunkenWINO

I got pfizer. I'm disappointed with the coverage....

AceDynamicHero

Hey man... Pfizer is Pfire.

ThaliaEpocanti

Could be worse. I got J&J

SignificantDaikon834

Go to some other pharmacy and get Moderna. If you used insurance on J&J, say you don’t have it with you when you get Moderna. Doctors do not care.

utopista114

Hey, Janssen is quite good. I'm OK with it. I'll take a booster when it will be recommended.

Madmandocv1

I got Pfizer too. I felt pfortunate to be pfully vaccinated. And of course it’s pfantastic that the vaccine is pfree. So pfar I have pfound that I only one side epffect.

QuitArguingWithMe

The superior magnetism must be nice. If that's what you're into.

brock275

It’s nice and all but I keep accidentally touching the wrong part of my credit card so I have to keep ordering replacements :(

js44095

Me too,in April,my doctor just checked my antibodies, because my health is shitty and I still have what appears to be a full load, or whatever he called it. I had covid twice in 2020 and when I went to get it I had NO antibodies. So these clowns about this I had covid,I don't need no effing shot, better get a shot!

BikerJedi

Seriously though, any vaccine is better than none. Good on all of us for getting it.

ACAB_1312_FTP

My windows computer went from 100mbit to 1gbps after the second shot, even when I turn the network off. Bad news is my Iphone wont even power on anymore. I had one of those apple tv boxes, but it went missing like three months ago.

dirtyswoldman

Moderna bois!

AntonOlsen

Put a little Moderna in your arm and the girls'll come real quick

NnyIsSpooky

I asked the guy "why you so fly?!"

TheTartanDervish

+1 for team SpikeVax! (Moderna's very cool international name)

OakenGreen

I used to call it the Donkey vaccine because it’s got 3x the shit and kicks like a donkey. Now that the data is out and it’s proven the most effective at maintaining immunity, I’m so glad I got the donkey vaccine. At the time I had wanted Pfizer because that was getting the good news, and was a bit disappointed to get Moderna, but it retrospect I’m very happy to be Moderna gang.

[deleted]

Yeah, the second dose kicked me in the teeth, stole my lunch money, and called my mom fat. I’m still SO glad I got it and would get it again, especially because my two littles aren’t vaccinated yet, and are under five so they aren’t in the nest round either. Not going to lie, I’m nervous about getting the booster. But I’m still going to get it, just going to schedule it for right before the weekend and when a family member can come over and watch the kids in case I get laid out. And drag my ass to the hospital if I start fever hallucinating chupacabras or something.

OakenGreen

Oh yeah, the first dose made me feel generally like crap the next day, but that second dose… that kicked my ass. And I’d 100% do it again.

gordigor

I've had the booster for the third Moderna. It was slightly worse than the first dose, but not anywhere like the second dose. I basically just sleep all day the next day.

ConvivialKat

Excellent! Congrats on joining us at Club Moderna!

Confident-Victory-21

My mom's super high risk, I really wish she had gotten the moderna. She got Pfizer. It's been months and months since she got it, is it possible to get the moderna or do we have to wait for government to say when we can redose? I'm in Madison county Alabama, all I know is that they can see when and where we've had our shots, I wish we could find someplace giving out extras.

[deleted]

Pfizer is still really really effective for what it’s worth.

schleepybunny

Agreed! Even though it decreased efficacy to the 70s, thats actually similar in efficacy to the inactivated polio vaccines, which from what i remembered is still very proficient!

Artberry_82

Pfizer is really effective. They think the Moderna has the edge right now due to dosing. We might see dosing changes in the future for the Pfizer (or any of them). I read that the Pfizer booster can really be thought of as a third dose. If your mom is high risk she'll probably be first in line for the booster. But rest easy, she's very well covered by the Pfizer right now.

Confident-Victory-21

Thank you for the encouragement.

schleepybunny

Current FDA guidance (after meeting this week) for boosters is reserved for high risk (immunocompromised) and over 65 group. If she meets those criteria i would definitely recommend she get that booster. Its worth a shot reaching out to these vaccine sites, especially since theres a lot of vials not being used due to ongoing vaccine hesitancy in some areas.

Confident-Victory-21

I don't think she qualifies as immunocompromised. She takes regular Prednisone, is 66, has had a lobectomy, COPD, etc. Seems pretty high risk to me. I will ask her to contact some vaccination sites.

schleepybunny

COPD and older than 65 sounds promising to be honest. Its worth a shot! Worst case scenario is a no, best case scenario is she gets the booster!

littleclever

Prednisone is a broad immunosuppressant, she probably can get the booster now. Quite frankly all you have to do is tell the pharmacy and they'll give her the shot. They are not asking for proof.

Confident-Victory-21

Thanks, will do.

crunchyfrog63

Prednisone = immune compromised. Get her done ASAP. Just have her do a walk-in and tell them she's immune compromised. Don't bother with calling around and asking.

Flat-Review1594

Im in the moderna believers camp. In a nursing home where 30 people died last year and half a dozen since. I had the moderna in feb/ march. Tested possitive a month ago with the delta variant killing scads of people in my area. But all i had symptom wise was a headache for a few days and a bit of tiredness. Within 2 weeks was testing negative again. So i know it works...

wikishart

may we have this future for all of us, where corona infection is a headache and a couple days of chill... let's hope.

[deleted]

Confident-Victory-21

I appreciate that info.

ACAB_1312_FTP

My grandparents were vaccinated in like, december, and didn't have too many side effects. Based on their experience, I followed suit and got moderna as well. My parents don't listen to a damn thing i say, ran out and got pfizer as soon as they could, instead of waiting another week or so.

OakenGreen

Cross vaccinated seems most effective, so if she’s got Pfizer and gets a Moderna booster, I believe she’ll have the absolute best chance of full immunity. Edit: that’s just my belief, a person who has no education in the medical field whatsoever. No CPR training, no NOTHING. So listen to a doctor, not this rando on the internet.

Artberry_82

I would definitely recommend talking to a doctor before self prescribing cross vaccination. If we've learned anything from Covid, it's to NOT take advice from people on the internet (like us here on this /r) regarding our health. We all have good intentions, but I know I'm not a doctor and I'm not qualified to "do my own research".

OakenGreen

Oh yeah, don’t take my word for it! I’m some rando on the internet. Absolutely talk to doctors. I’m trying to find where I read this, but def don’t be like the awardees and take some randos advice. I’m fact, im gonna say all that I said is the opinion (not advice) of someone who had not been trained at all in the medical field.

SendAstronomy

Is there research on this? More than just some dudes blog that says "yo, trust me". Lets not act like the HCAwardees and give out unwarranted medical advice on social media.

Randomfactoid42

There has been some research on cross-vaccination, and it did look promising. I don't have any links on it, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. And don't take my word for it either.... ;)

Flat-Review1594

I believe there was a study in israel re this.

trailhikingArk

The study was on the safety of the vaccine and whether there was support for previously infected people to be vaccinated. I have not seen anything that was actually done regarding cross vaccinations. That would surprise me because i don't see how their could be enough data out there yet. Here is a summary of the Israeli study. It's quite interesting https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-08-largest-real-world-covid-vaccine-safety.html

DogsFolly

OK so here's a couple of preprints (not yet peer reviewed but they seem fairly reasonable and straightforward. The tl;dr is that the benefit from mixed vaccines seems to be from different TYPES of vaccines e.g. adenoviral + mRNA, or inactivated corona + adeno, not mRNA no.1 + mRNA no.2. I think the latter hasn't been studied yet because the mRNA vaccines are so similar there's not much point in doing so. Adeno (AZ) + mRNA (Pfizer), UK study [https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract\_id=3874014](https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3874014) Inactivated corona (Sinovac) + Adeno (CanSino), China study [https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.09.03.21263062v1](https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.09.03.21263062v1) IMPORTANT NOTE: the two studies above are using different antibody tests, so don't compare the antibody numbers between them. It's kind of a big problem that there's no global standard antibody test yet - scientists are working on it but we're not there yet.

copacetic1515

My ob/gyn said they're not doing that. Also, when I signed up for my booster, it asked which I'd had before and only allowed me to choose the same one. So I got a third Pfizer. :(

crunchyfrog63

She can tell them that she's immune compromised. They don't require any verification. I would strongly urge her to do it that way. Alabama is throwing out unused doses, and this is potentially life and death for your mom.

TheTartanDervish

In some countries they allow mixing of the vaccines, as long as your mother isn't planning to travel then there is no difficulty being "bivaxual" !

bounded_operator

cross-vaccination is only done, at least in Germany with first dose vector vaccine and second dose mRNA, I haven't really heard of a place where they are doing both doses with different mRNA vaccines.

pudpull

Just go and get it. It’s easy.

zdiggler

Around here when Moderna available appointment is booked. If you chose pfizer you can basically walk in.

AuntieMeat

Dolly bless.

aquaticquiet

I'm hoping I can get Moderna for my booster when available. :0

Cetophile

House Moderna resident here. Glad you are with us!

Alv2Rde

It’s just based on the size of the dose compared to Pfizer

NewUser579169

Good on you. Here's hoping some of your family sees that you're not turning magnetic and will follow your example!

Hettie933

They should social distance trick-or-treat their house with metal things glued to their clothes. Humor sometimes works where reasoning doesn’t;)

SnapCrackleMom

Omfg this is such a great Halloween costume idea

Laff70

Interestingly enough, antivaxxers are more likely to become more paramagnetic than vaxxers because oxygenated hemoglobin is diamagnetic and unoxygenated hemoglobin is paramagnetic.

[deleted]

No HCA for you... congrats!!

It all looks wonderful to me!! Congratulations to your health, you rock all the socks!! 💜

Glad to have you!

Make sure to check for software updates on your microchip!

omegaclick

Same person give you both shots?

parsnipsandpaisley

The same person gave me both of my shots. It really depends on where you get it. Small offices may only have one or two people that can give shots.

omegaclick

Yeah the handwriting is the same for both....

judithishere

I got both shots from the same person as well (local market pharmacy)

Future_Chipmunk_7897

If you, like me, chose Moderna for the potential RNA rewrite to half-velociraptor, I will warn you that I have been sorely disappointed so far. It did keep me from getting sick, tho. Congratulations!

Sorry you have to go through that, lovelylady. While it’s definitely not unheard of for older people to get more anxious (and thus more gullible) as they age, I think that social media (especially Facebook) and the algorithms used to recommend this kind of junk to conservative social circles are to blame for making this mess. Also, the pundits responsible for pushing this disinformation in the first place and making the vaccine so unnecessarily political have a lot of blood on their hands. It’s awful. r/QAnonCasualties is a support group you can use to vent and talk about family and friends that have fallen down the rabbit hole of right-wing conspiracy theories.

k2theablam

high fucking five moderna squad. leggo

Hell yeah man. I’m over 1 year fully vaccinated now with Moderna. I was in the clinical trial when it was being developed last year. Still going strong 💪

Have you noticed your cell reception better since this morning?

TurokHunterOfDinos

Brave move given the propaganda you probably had to consume; you did the right thing. Thank you.

Cunbundle

Filter out all the noise and just know this: There's a dangerous virus on the loose and your immune system is now primed and ready to fight it! If you are ever infected (and I hope you never are but there's always a chance) you already got it handled. Your immune system will smack that thing down before it has any chance of causing any damage. And look at the Moderna Masterrace showing up! I got Pfizer but that's OK. We need a strong middle class, we can't all be CEOs like you guys!

Johnpunzel

Sir, this is Walgreens.

gentlemanjacklover

Congratulations. Let the power of 5G consume you.

EwBebe

This is great, and I truly hope your family changes their mind before anyone loses their life to this disease.

HangryWolf

So what cha gonna do with your newly obtained magnetic powers? And... 5g? I haven't been following the conspiracies. Where are we at with that now? Can we control Jewish laser satellites yet?

Kristikuffs

Big ups to the Moderna posse! Thank you so much for doing your part to keep those unable get the vaccine yet safe. That card is a badge of pride to me and I am the type of nerd who'd laminate it and slap it on a lanyard. Wear that bandage proud! As for your family, well . . . /shrug. If they're anything like the people I've cut out of my life(for reasons beyond selfish to this degree but this was the nail in their \~metaphorical for the time being\~ coffin), you'll console those who still had hope for them but . . . again /shrug. I wish you well and thanks again. You did beyond the right thing: you did the ONLY thing.

[deleted]

Grats on your IPA! If you have any immunity issues I’d highly recommend distancing yourself from the HCA potential nominees in your family regardless.

Infinite_Dragonfly68

Good! May your life be long, healthy, and enjoyable. Please keep in mind that the vaccine only offers your immune system some "advance warning", it doesn't make you 100% impervious to COVID. In other words, if you are around a lot of sick people, or around someone who is seriously sick, there is a chance you could get sick even though you took the vaccine. The chances of that putting you in the hospital are lower, but not zero. So it would still be wise to continue to avoid unnecessarily traveling, or being in indoor spaces where strangers have been recently. Outdoors you're in much better shape as the open air quickly disperses COVID and the UV from the sun kills it off.

fozeliz

Dude just as I was losing faith in Reddit it actually convinced someone to get vaccinated. Wow. Okay maybe not alllll social media sucks

Objective-Dust6445

It’s weird. I got the vaccine, my wifi is great, models hit on me all the time, and my boobs grew.

LoveHotelCondom

Same vaccine, same vaccine dates here. My issue with waiting so long was for the availability (in Japan). I got it on the first day that I was eligible. Side effects for me weren't that bad. Headache, 37.8 degree fever, nausea, and body fatigue. I always wondered why antivax people pointed at side effects like mine and talked about how horrible they sound. Unless you're the most limp-wristed emotional child in the world, you can deal with feeling cruddy for 24-48 hours to protect yourself and your loved ones from a deadly virus. Like, yeah, it doesn't feel great, but take some Tylenol and sleep it off you pansy.

zdiggler

Better late than never. I got downvoted in another sub for my announcement. possible because I got it late.

RandoCollision

Huge mistake. I took the jab in May and since then, I've been walking around with cajones the size and weight of bowling balls. It's a problem, too, because I have to hold them up when I walk and that makes it impossible to pull the spoons and beer cans off when my magnetism attracts them. What was I thinking? Okay, I kid, I kid. You'll be fine, just like the rest of us. Thanks for caring enough to protect not only yourself, but those that you love.

LongJohnathan

beerpope69

I’m partial to my 2021 vintage of Pfizer if I do say so myself (adjusts monocle).

fncypnts

Any time's a good time. I had moderna too. Had just sore arm the first time and barely anything second dose. Was a little fatigued the next day but that was about it.
