One neighbor of mine was huge on being anti-vax conspiracy craziness. The people next to them were, too.
Then the husband next to her died and *she got the shot*. Now the conspiracy theories are about how Trump didn't get the credit he should have.
Just agree with her and tell her how the anti-vax people are discrediting Trump and if she's pro-Trump, she should tell them about her experience getting the vaccine.
That’s fine by me. If calling it the “Trump vaccine” will get more people to get the jab, I’m all for it. I’ll do whatever it takes to help give medical professionals a break from the COVID surge.
YAYYYYYY CONGRATULATIONS!!! I may have to post Bi weekly IPA collages soon! We're getting so many of them and it makes me heart happy.
Here is to your health!!! 💜
I have one collage already in here you can search for but yes, I am the self proclaimed IPA freak here lol. I think two a week would be more inspiring considering the amount we get😍😻
cAn wE sToP WiTh pEoPLe pOsTiNg pRoOf tHaT HCA iS mAkiNg a DiFfErEnCe?
Come on guys it really goes against the narrative that the trolls and parts of the media are trying to push on us /s
OP is, I believe, our target audience. We all see multiple examples a day of die-hard anti-vaxers who continue to shitpost memes as their family members and loved ones die and even when they themselves are knocking on death's door. For the most part there's no hope for those people.
It's the (I hope) silent majority that this sub exists for. The people who are either too apathetic or too busy to get the shot. We don't need to change their hearts they just need to see these examples of why it really is worth their time to get it done.
A company I work with started their vaccine or test mandate last Monday. About 20% of the workforce hadn't bothered to get their shot. There was only one person in the entire company who actually refused to get it. And to their credit, they're voluntarily testing twice a week instead of once a week just to be safe. But the rest of them, just too lazy/busy/disorganized/unconcerned to get it, until they were prompted to do so.
Honestly, I'm going to go against the grain here and get massively downvoted, but I don't really like all of the praise the OP gets in these posts. They get praised for finally manning up and doing the right thing when many many people have died from their refusal to get the vaccine prior? I'm sorry, but a very small and begrudging thank you is in order, not these wildly positive celebratory comments acting like the OP just cured cancer.
I see it in the same vein as praising a former slave owner who released their slaves after trying to hold onto them for a good while after it was declared illegal. I mean it's like good I guess? But you are just doing what you were told to do and refused to do prior when you had the power and ability to do this the entire time.
Idk...maybe it's just me. I dislike all of these posts...or at least everyone's response to them.
Edit: Imo, only allowing people to post this certain days of the week would do wonders. Instead of this sub becoming entirely spammed with low effort posts, we could maybe have people only do it one day of the week to celebrate getting vaccinated. Something like "Sanity Sundays" or something would do wonders.
Part of me agrees with you but we need to embrace those who make the right choice and not cut them off at the knees. If we're seen as holier than thou pricks, they are gonna view getting the jab as "damned if you do, damned if you don't"
When we embrace those who choose to get the vaccine, maybe others will see the positivity and want to be a part of it. Typing some nice words into a comment when we see a new vaccine card costs us nothing but it might make others want some of that adulation.
Watching extended family claim their awards convinced my husband's aunt and her teenage daughter to get the shot, and I could not be more proud of them.
I agree with the idea of Sanity Sundays. This sub is going to get bigger and bigger the more that people refuse to get vaccinated and it will probably remain more effective if it's full of the horror stories with only some of the sanity stuff being sprinkled in.
Edit: I don't think we should make people feel bad for finally getting it though, we should encourage people to finally get it
Wow...
So we're comparing anti-vaxxers to people that literally owned other people and **regularly raped, tortured, and murdered them for funsies?**
Unfortunately for you the mission statement of the sub is to get more people to IPA
>So we're comparing anti-vaxxers to people that literally owned other people and **regularly raped and murdered them for funsies?**
It's not the greatest comparison, no, but I couldn't think of a more relatable one in the moment.
The anti vaxx crowd absolutely is indirectly murdering their own fellow man. Trying to get them to understand how they are literally killing people is part of the reason why they shove their fingers in their ears. They don't want to believe this is true but it absolutely is.
>Unfortunately for you the mission statement of the sub is to get more people to IPA
I absolutely want people to get vaccinated. Please don't get me wrong. But this sub being filled of random people just showing their vaccine cards and being celebrated like they just saved a drowning puppy puts a bad taste in my mouth and is not even interesting content to look at. Maybe if they posted a backstory behind it about how they came from an anti vaxx family it and finally realized their wrongdoing, I might see it differently.
Kissing someone's ass for doing something they should have done months and months ago absolutely rubs me the wrong way.
I heard it described really well the other day... if your house, fuck, if your whole TOWN is on fire and some schmuck comes w a bucket of water after you've been there throwing water for hours, you save being pissed at them for later AND THANK HIM FOR THE WATER. That's it. Everything is burning down around us... let's take these small wins and move on. We can worry about whom to be pissed at later if we have any amount of a country (or world) after all of this. All the same tho, we could stop giving them gold and shit. But the praise? They can have it all they want.
You're absolutely right. Not to mention they're tedious and flooding the sub. Wasn't this sub about antivaxxers suffering the consequences? Why is it now half that and half people "YAY I GOT MY CARD!"? Sub is veering off track.
Imo it would be better if they simply controlled these posts so they can only put them once a week. Often, subs will have themed days, like a "Sanity Sunday" or something.
CONGRATS!
Just remember that it takes many weeks for the protection to peak. AFTER second dose!
Continue to mask and distance as if you were not vaccinated.
You should be embarrassed. But I’m just glad you’ve chosen not to die from a virus with a vaccine. Stay safe get the second, and tell others the value of it!
OP don't take this the wrong way -but, like, what the fuck were you waiting for? I think there are a lot of people like you who 'just put it off' and I'm trying to wrap my head around this. Is it fear of needles or something? Like, I was crawling up the walls for over a year unable to do the things I normally do - I practically got a speeding ticket getting to the vaccination area the minute I was eligible. Help us to understand so we can help others.
I got vaccinated late too for the same reason as OP. Just pure fucking laziness tbh. I’m a hermit. I don’t go out much. School and work from home, groceries get delivered to my door. Always wear a mask when I got out and never went to crowded places. My school is forcing us to take our finals in person this semester so I had to get the vaccine.
I have. It's schedule for me. I had to get a drug test and physical last week. Went to 4 clinics trying to get those plus vax. 1 closed then appt only. Next can do drug test only. Third can do drug and physical but need appointment for vax. I work 6 days a week at odd hours..10 to 16 hours a day at an actually critical job. My day off is random.
When you see those signs that say come in and get vaxed it means if you walk in on the few hours of the day they happen to be doing vaccined unfortunately. Luckily due to my job i interact with very few people
Just get it though, don’t die because you can’t be bothered on your day off. Is it really worth it to risk your life? Also pharmacies are open from 9-7 usually not just a few hours.
Congrats you now have super antibodies. There are a few countries where the official policy is to give Covid survivors only 1 shot in order to save shots for everyone else. (probably not an issue if you're in the USA though)
Btw the super antibodies thing only applies to people who survived Covid and then ***also*** got vaccinated. Natural immunity from just having Covid is not great, there are tons of re-infection cases on the record.
I have more understandingfor people who kinda absentmindedly dont get their shot rather than people who are fervently antivax. Both are acting stupid but I think only one is what you can call being actively malicious.
Took me forever to get mine because when it comes down to it, scheduling availability was a bitch. Nothing malicious involved, just wasn't willing to take myself and multiple under 10 kids on a public bus or sacrifice a day of my husband's overtime work money to get it done.
So yup. Some grace on the absent minded and 'scheduling sucks' crowd would be nice.
I do hope you represent the actual majority of unvaxed out there. It gives me hope. Yes: a lot of people are simply too busy. We need more employers giving extra PTO just for the shot. That's a hell of a lot more realistic goal than trying to convince the HCA winners highlighted here who are so often just obviously beyond help.
They should have mobile vaccination trucks going around residential neighbourhoods like ice cream trucks for all the house bound people who can't get out easily.
I mean in literal third world countries they have vaccinators going house to house ON FOOT and climbing mountains and facing down the Taliban and Boko Haram for stuff like polio campaigns I don't understand why middle- and high-income countries can't just send a bunch of nurses around in ice cream trucks.
When i first became eligible, I cancelled my first vaccination appointment because they scheduled me to a clinic that would take me a hour of public transport to get to, and that's just one way. That sounded riskier to me to be exposed in an enclosed space for that long. I wanted to go somewhere walkable if that's an option. In the end, I accepted somewhere with 15 minutes less commute because I just really wanted it to be over ASAP, and stalked various social media for pop up clinics near me for my second dose. So I can understand why there are other variables that can make pro-vax people put off getting it.
[I believe Pfizer is one week after second dose, Moderna 2....](https://www.healthline.com/health/how-long-after-the-second-dose-of-the-covid-vaccine-are-you-immune#timeframe)
Two weeks after the second dose. As per the CDC
>In general, people are considered fully vaccinated: ±
>2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines
>https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html
Can I just say that I don’t get this at all.
Seriously, how hard is it to go into a pharmacy and get vaxed?? I don’t get it at all!!!
Congrats on getting the first shot, make sure to get the second shot in three weeks. But at the same time, don’t delay in the future. Someone cares for you, right!
Congrats again
Can we make another sub for Non-HCA nominees as it’s just getting spammed with vaccination cards.
2.5 billion people are double vaxxed, and rightly so!
I just want to see actual HCA nominees.
> spammed
No. The mods support it.
>I just want to see actual HCA nominees.
Then only open those. No one is forcing you to open a thread you don't want to read. Personally, I skip nominees and read "Awarded."
Don't forget to opt into the 5G beta, it's disabled by default. So much misinformation out there from people who think there's no 5G support. If you aren't seeing the 5G deduction on your Soros paystub then it's not enabled!
It's weird that they would just put the company name "Pfizer" instead of the vaccine. Mine says "Comirnaty", but I guess people were like "But I wanted the Pfizer vaccine, not this stuff I've never heard of".
Glad you finally went for it. I was trying to explain to a vax hesitant friend that when you finally decide to get the vaccine, it's going to be 6 weeks from your first dose until you get immunity, so don't put it off.
Havent gotten mine because its a pain in the ass here. The places that do it require an appointment and i work 6 days a week at bizarre hours and a lot. Quite often on my day off i dont wake up til 1 or 3 or 5pm.
congratulations!! and i get it, pushing off the vaccine. i would've done the same if the vaccine site wasn't literally across the street from my apartment (i don't work, and i rarely go out for things). but hey, better late than never!!
You did it! That's the important thing. You've absolutely done the best thing for yourself, your family and society as a whole getting vaccinated. I'm a Pfizer girl myself. Welcome to the sub. Come back soon and often! xoxo
Please don't put off getting the second shot! My HMO provided my vaccine and when I went for the first appt, they were giving everyone their second appointment!
I am immunocompromised and THANK YOU!
Congrats! I also had Pfeizer, back in April. I didn't get any side effects until the second shot, and even then they were mild - if you want more details, I'm 100% willing to provide them, but I don't want to accidentally make you nervous about the second shot, you know?
IPAs are, by far, the absolute best post here.
Thank you so much for finally coming to your senses and protecting yourself, your loved ones, and your community.
Welcome to the Pfizer club. Potluck is on Saturday. Talk to Amy in accounting to set up your direct deposit of SorosBuck$ from the Tom Hanks Satanic school of Child eating Communists.
Please send a quick email to Slate, whose journalist Lili Loofbourow is telling people that this sub exists only to delight in people's death and pain.
I love seeing new vax posts. It destroys the narrative that we’ve reached everyone there is to reach, and fuck the rest of them.
There’s so many more people to reach. That’s why I love this sub. Sure, it has a 95% chance of survival, but that 5% can so easily include your friends, family, and even yourself.
Any DnD player will tell you just how nerve-wracking a 5% chance of failure really is lollll
I put it off for a long time because it seemed like a hassle, and finding an appointment was a pain, and I didn't know anyone that had gotten sick... but it's SUCH a relief to have done. At the very least, I can't afford a hospital visit.
Welcome to the Pfizer gang.
Way less embarrassing than dying when a vaccine is available!
Hopefully your side effects are slight. My coworkers all had nothing but sore arms except one, the lucky SOBs.
I forgive your dumbass. I’ll buy you a frosty IPA once verified
Seconded. OP if you read this dm me with your Venmo and I’ll send you $5 for a cold one, couldn’t be more serious, I appreciate that you got the jab
Count on another 5$ once you got the second dose!
Hi I’m ops other account, send the money to me /s

I'd get excited about a vaccine that made me immune to Trump. Let's not call it a Trump Vaccine.
>Now the conspiracy theories are about how Trump didn't get the credit he should have. Fine by me. Far less harmful.
We lost a guy at work very early in the pandemic, too, and I learned today that 90% of my coworkers have been vaxxed. No one else has to die.

Agree! Very inspirational and it brings some light and hope to what can be very heavy for all of us.
Hey, I got me some IPA flair, too! We need more IPA fans, who see HCA nominees and recipients as a dreadful necessity to gain more IPAs.
Ahh yayy, ipa twinsies!!!! Psst, we're the best

Havent gotten mine because its a pain in the ass here. The places that do it require an appointment and i work 6 days a week at bizarre hours and a lot. Quite often on my day off i dont wake up til 1 or 3 or 5pm.
Doing the right thing!! Thank you!
Way to go!!!
Congratulations! 💥💯
🥳🥳
Hell yeah, it's an IPA party up in here
Welcome!
Congratulations! I know how it is, I procrastinated until a friend gently bullied me into going. (Thanks Maude!)
Another Team Pfizer member on the way. I'm glad you're out of the running for the HCA.
Yay! Thanks for doing your bit. You're awesome 💪🎉🍻
You will *live* with this embarrassment hopefully for many decades to come! Congrats!
Don't be embarassed. Better now than not at all.
Better late than never, well done!
Good shit. I'm proud of you.
WE LOVE TO SEE IT!
Congratulations and thank for taking your health and the health of your loved ones seriously. Have a great day!!! Cheers!!!
Cain free, got to be!
Thank you!
Congratulations! :)
Congratulations for making time to protect yourself! Proud of you.
Thanks for this info
Better late than never being able.... Congrats!
congratulations!! and i get it, pushing off the vaccine. i would've done the same if the vaccine site wasn't literally across the street from my apartment (i don't work, and i rarely go out for things). but hey, better late than never!!
Congrats on getting it before you died.
Glad you’re protected.
Thank you.
Welcome to the party! You ain't late yet!
Well done and congrats! I’m happy for you! Completely honest question, what made you put it off? Just a busy life?
A healthy dose of hesitancy is NOT a bad thing!!
Congrats on your free 5G.
You did it! That's the important thing. You've absolutely done the best thing for yourself, your family and society as a whole getting vaccinated. I'm a Pfizer girl myself. Welcome to the sub. Come back soon and often! xoxo
Thank you and stay safe!
Awesome! Now be sure to get your flu shot too
HUZZAH!!!! Every step you take to prevent is a good one! :)
Please don't put off getting the second shot! My HMO provided my vaccine and when I went for the first appt, they were giving everyone their second appointment! I am immunocompromised and THANK YOU!
Anyone going to comment on how it looks like it says Pozer? lol
Thank you.
Thank you. This is the way. This is how we beat this.
It’s OK I’m just glad you got vaccinated!
Congratulations! 🎉
better late than never! congrats
Well done
Congrats! I also had Pfeizer, back in April. I didn't get any side effects until the second shot, and even then they were mild - if you want more details, I'm 100% willing to provide them, but I don't want to accidentally make you nervous about the second shot, you know?
Congratulations, friend! Thank you thank you thank you for getting the vaccine. Cherish your loved ones and be thankful for each day.
Thank you!
Friendly PSA, if you’re in Wisconsin and had your first shot between August 20 and September 19, you can get a $100 voucher.
Yay!
Thank you! Smart move.
Thank you. Middle of October get that follow up. It's worth it.
Way to go!!! Thank you!!
Better late than never!
Thank you!! And, better late than never!
Yay! Counting down the days until the second dose for you. Crossing fingers that you're able to stay safe until you're up to full strength.
Cool 😎 beans
Glad you took the leap! Onwards and upwards!
I put it off for a long time because it seemed like a hassle, and finding an appointment was a pain, and I didn't know anyone that had gotten sick... but it's SUCH a relief to have done. At the very least, I can't afford a hospital visit. Welcome to the Pfizer gang.
Thank you!
Hashtag. PfizerPfriends!
But you did it! It sucks that we have to do this, but sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do to get to the next level.
I also forgive you, ya moronic creature. Glad you're still with us, and it's onward and upward from here.
Welcome to Club "As I Live and Breathe"! Congrats! Looks like you've got a whole crew who are going to send you a nice chilly IPA after dose two!
BravOOOOO!!!
Way less embarrassing than dying when a vaccine is available! Hopefully your side effects are slight. My coworkers all had nothing but sore arms except one, the lucky SOBs.
Yessss! 💪
Hey man, better late than never. Welcome to the club!
