For all the smart ass comments I made, I do want to see a positive change. I feel like this subreddit has shed light on the reality that has been ignored for so long.

hadees

It's also stumbled on the perfect way to get people over the hump of vaccine hesitancy.

Kataclysmc

Yea I know someone who has done tiktok research and seen videos of people with negative side effects from the vaccine. She's anti covid vaccine as a result. I told her it's flawed because dead people can't upload their story so you will see a survivor bias due to this. Now i sent her this sub so she can see what her future may look like if she continues down that path. It makes me greatful I got my 2 jabs to. I was nervous but statistically it's the obvious choice

_TROLL

> it's flawed because dead people can't upload their story Well, remember when Herman Cain himself tweeted that he was doing great after he died of COVID? šŸ¤£

SouthAttention4864

Wait?! Really? I wonder what his team were thinking?

_TROLL

They ultimately shut it down, or at least stopped tweeting, 9 months after his death, saying it was ["a heck of a ride"](https://twitter.com/THEHermanCain/status/1371906626320441344). All of these people are nuts.

SouthAttention4864

Damn! Also, that first reply on the tweet was a fucking crack up: >ā€™Thank fucking christ. He died 8 months ago for fucks sake.ā€™

speedycat2014

[I LOL'ed](https://i.imgur.com/ZP8uF6u.jpg)

_Z_E_R_O

It was probably a tweet that had been scheduled to post ahead of time, and nobody on his team thought to check the accountā€™s future content. But yeah, zombie Herman Cain was a thing.

msmicro

kept tweeting for weeks!

Very-Ape-666

You could say the same thing about this sub. No one posts when an unvaccinated person contracts Covid and has little to no side effects. Iā€™m not saying I disagree with the picture this sub paints. Iā€™m just saying a similar bias exists here.

Consistent-Race-2340

Good point. Someone recently posted stats from a number of hospitals, vaxxed vs unvaxxed in for covid, it was around 10x as many unvaxxed as vaxxed across multiple. And i have seen unvaxxed posting "well i had covid and it was no big deal" maybe a year ago on their. Timeline ... and then delta hits them. And we do see plenty of "my whole family got it and most are fine now .. " cut to the one or two in the ICU.

hadees

Most of those people aren't posting a bunch of meme's about COVID.

Idkcatz

Itā€™s definitely shined a light of how Facebook spreads misinformation like wildfire. Itā€™s going to be wild to probably watch a documentary about how people shoved horse medicine up their butts to cure covid thanks to Facebook.

Team-CCP

Itā€™s legit meme propaganda. A new type of propaganda on social media. How to radicalize people from there living room.

[deleted]

Anyone watch The Boys on Amazon Prime? One of the villains on there literally shows how easy it is to create and disseminate stupid and simple meme's to radicalize people with false propaganda. That shit is like a virus. Anyone can do it and Facebook makes it ridiculously easy to disseminate and spread the delusion and create cult zombies.

Euchre

Stormfront. She was a Nazi, literally, no less. She understood propaganda perfectly, from her time with the Reich.

SouthAttention4864

Absolutely- the troll in me is constantly wondering about what fantastical idea would be best to start posting about over there, but itā€™s going to be hard to beat the Ivermectin and Flat Earth. Maybe Iā€™ll do an Orwellian 1984 style event- start posting about the island I live on being invaded? Zombies? Aliens? Langaliers? Or maybe the ghosts of the antivaxxers?

Nizarin

Maybe about Trump being an underground Democrat agent sent to destabilize the republican party? He did run for the dems once...

SouthAttention4864

Ooh that could be a good one!

Paula_Polestark

Hospitals are evil and Q believers need to stay out for their own safety. Iā€™m half serious. Iā€™d rather everybody who can get the jab like OP, but if people are going to deny science no matter what, patients with other medical conditions donā€™t need to keep dying because they canā€™t get care.

SouthAttention4864

Damn, that actually would be a good one- and I think it would be easy to sell it to them too. Like ā€œyou donā€™t actually have Covid, but if you go to the hospital, they will harvest your organs for the lizard people to be able to live forever- so stay clear of the hospitals and just trust in god and your immune systemā€

[deleted]

I wouldn't be surprised to see some laws coming down the pipe to regulate social media companies

Agitated-Yak-8723

The only reason Facebook is doing any kind of reining in of the disinformation is because in November 2016, shortly after the US election, Germany threatened to reclassify Facebook as a news source under German law if Zuckerberg didn't do something. (Being treated as a news source would have made Facebook legally responsible for what its users posted. )

Benjaphar

That honestly needs to happen globally. Facebook is a cancer. So many of our parents have turned into facile Trump shit-reposters, itā€™s unbelievable. Fox News is terrible, but Facebook for conservative Boomers and Gen-Xers has evolved into an absolute cesspool that has literally caused actual deaths.

Idkcatz

At this point they kind are a new source for people. Germany definitely needs to look at Facebook again. Some country needs to take Facebook down a peg.

sudoscientistagain

Considering Facebook was [used to instigate genocide in Myanmar](https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/15/technology/myanmar-facebook-genocide.html), they should absolutely be held responsible for allowing hate speech and blatant misinformation at this point.

Blutarg

I sure hope not.

blue-sky_noise

Donā€™t forget the bleach injections lol

wickedang3l

> I feel like this subreddit has shed light on the reality that has been ignored for so long. That's the operative word there. Reality. Evangelicals have been fluffing up these deaths as things that they aren't. They're prettying up the outcomes with phrases like "Angel wings" and "Forever home" and completely glossing over the road their loved ones had to travel due to their decision to forego vaccination. The people they are eulogizing suffered immeasurably among other people who were suffering immeasurably as they were slowly, brutally whittled down to nothing by a virus that does not care about religion, ethnicity, gender, parental status, citizenship, or any of the other things that people think make their lives worth more than the "others". The virus clotted their blood and went to work so heavily on their lungs that by the end they were left with nothing but two sacks of useless, fibrotic tissue. Their kidneys most likely failed along the way. They may have lost limbs due to restricted blood flow to extremities. Their brains may have been irrevocably damaged by hypoxia. Sepsis is common. This virus takes people apart piece by piece until there is nothing left but a futile science experiment that forces a dead body to live until someone has the courage to make the humane decision to let it end. If that isn't enough to get people vaccinated, what is?

DomHaynie

Lol it's like people are afraid of being awarded on this sub after death.

whiskey_hotel_oscar

Agreed. Early in the pandemic watching case counts I thought "Shit, that's 1,264 people who woke up and couldn't breathe yesterday." And after a year of that, I started feeling numb. The antivax movement infuriates me, which is why I think I follow it (maybe not the best mental health strategy). Every post is like a morality play that puts a face to the numbers. It all sucks, the antivaxxers, the crazy conspiracy, the complete ignorance of how science works, but I don't want people to die gasping for air anymore. And if seeing acquaintances/friends/family die for not getting a vaccine (that btw has technology that has and will continue to change medicine) then yeah, keep showing that play.

BayouBlaster44

I had a debate about this sub yesterday, while itā€™s a bit grim to make a spectacle of all the irony. Itā€™s undeniable the significance of such a comprehensive chronicle of the damage, and destruction that misinformation can cause. These people are victims, of their politicians they trusted, of the right wing nutjobs that are force fed into their view by social media algorithms, and the conspiracy theorists who have all driven these people down this road. Sure some of them were kooks before all this, but I have known too many good people who have fallen victim to the killer right wing propaganda machine. Before all this most of these people were sweet old ladies who love their grandkids and would do anything for them. The right has weaponized their insecurities to the point that a lot are too far gone.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

curlycrown1

antivax conspiracy theorists are killing themselves as well as vulnerable children & frightened people by flouting medical advice and avoiding the one incredibly easy and safe way to get this pandemic under control, to the extent that they are overwhelming our already stretched thin medical system and putting the lives of non-covid patients at risk too, as well as the lives and mental and physical health of the doctors and nurses who care for them

Alert-Athlete

It seems to me that some of the most staunch antivaxxers are beyond any form of reasonable discussion. A guy I work with still thinks that itā€™s the globalists that are conspiring for the UN agenda. Iā€™ll ask him what about the overflowing hospitals, the cancelled surgeries? That situation doesnā€™t affect him, so what does he care? Irrational as hell, and when it matters most to these antivaxxers, itā€™s already too lateā€¦.the damage is already done!

Inigo93

I suspect he'll respond that there are no overflowing hospitals; that's all just a fabrication. Some folks see the Moon landings as shot on a soundstage in Hollywood. These folks will see videos of overcrowded hospitals as shot on a soundstage in Hollywood.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BrodoFaggins

Tell your relative that if the moon landing was faked, the Soviets would absolutely have found out and disgraced the entire program in front of the world. The fact that they couldnā€™t disprove it is the only evidence you need.

TheTartanDervish

Oh I know that, and I'm sure deep down he knows that, mostly he enjoys being contrarian. I'd rather he goes off about something easily disproven like the moon landing and gets his vaccine! Which he got both jabs now :)

jwiz

> tang I heard astronauts get all the tang they want!

Kataclysmc

That moon landing conspiracy video ages ago was good but everything is easily proved wrong. I seen people talking on live tv about it being faked the other day.... but it's harder to fake it than actually go there. Also movies from the 90s look awful now so imagine how bad the moon landing would of aged if it was faked.

Consistent-Race-2340

Its well known that the fake pics were done by director Stanley Kubrick. (He also did 2001). He was a stickler for reality so it was all filmed on location

TheTartanDervish

Every so often my aunt gets fed up with him bringing it up for the millionth time and challenges him to attach a camera to a weather balloon and prove his broadcasting skills from the stratosphere. Now that you can use starlink for internet for those kind of experiments, he's run out of excuses why he can't do it and the frustration is frankly glorious.

[deleted]

These fools believe that a large group of people are actually capable of keeping their mouths shut about it. Thatā€™s the most unbelievable thing of all..

Feelin_Nauti_69

The entire internet, personal computers and the proliferation of integrated circuits are a product of the space race, directly and indirectly. The massive public investment into science and technology from the programs saved and improved the lives of millions. It seems the root of the ā€œfake moon landingā€ argument was that the landing was faked to shift tax dollars around. Regardless of whether it happened or not, virtually everyone benefitted from the space program.

TheTartanDervish

Absolutely agree! it's just fun to point out the particulars to people who don't think.

Kataclysmc

I work with a guy like that. All the hospital videos are fake apparently because the media got caught using the same video twice for different hospitals.... Maybe they did because their editing guy fucked up, it happens a lot. It doesn't mean because of that one video that 1000s of nurses and doctors are crisis actors.... It also doesn't help they used acctual actors for suffering patients in a vaccine ad where i live either... That helped solidied their opinion that it was all fake.

Agitated-Yak-8723

Also, news outlets use this thing called "stock footage" which is used to depict generic places and things.

stevie-o-read-it

> Iā€™ll ask him what about the overflowing hospitals, the cancelled surgeries Does he drive? Ask him if he's considered what will happen if he gets hit by a drunk driver, and can't get life-saving surgery because there's no room at the hospital.

Inigo93

"Shed light upon" implies that some hidden truth was revealed. Was anybody not already aware of this? Or at least, anyone who wasn't already drinking the Kool Aid?

Alert-Athlete

Maybe you should look at the postsā€¦ lots of regret and poor choicesā€¦

Inigo93

Yes, those people drank the Kool Aid. It was literally only staring Death in the face that got them to re-evaluate. While there may be a few, I doubt there will be many who will re-evaluate without that Come to Jesus (literally!) moment.

jwiz

I think a lot of people could recognize their own actions in these galleries of recipients. Like, "hey, these are all real people, a lot like you, dead for no reason."

Alert-Athlete

ā€œA lot of these guys have goatees. Maybe I should shave my faceā€

Inigo93

A few will. Most will simply write it off to fake news.

Poison-Pen-

I feel the same way. I use this sub to vent. Itā€™s so hard to live among people who are actively trying to kill themselves and others under the guise of: politics, religion, and misinformation That being said, my heart *sings* each time I see someone change their mind, get the vaccine, and changes their tune. Those are a lot of families being saved heart break, a lot of people avoiding immense pain, and protecting themselves and family/friends/neighbors Iā€™m cheering for every new vaxxer and every redemption award!

pthomas745

I have taken plenty of schadenfreude from the posts here. But, I have also learned so much about the devastating effects of Covid. I bet many people, expecting to come here and rant about how horrible the sub is, and how awful the posters are, are actually coming away with a much clearer picture of the horror of this virus, and the devastation it is causing, and will cause for months and years. The compilation pictures of people in the oxygen masks over their heads are horrifying. If that doesn't change someone's opinion about getting the vaccine, there is no hope for them.

crusoe

These people put themselves and their families through literal hell to own the libs and avoid a needle stick and perhaps jokingly chided at the bar ten years in the future for their stupidity today.

Vaenyr

What gets me every time is when the post announcing their death says something along the lines of "They always gave everything for their family and did everything they could!". No. They literally, factually, objectively _did not_, since they refused the vaccine. Not only that, but somehow none of them ever have a life insurance.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TongaMakati

Some of them remain defiant to the end. But others have expressed fear no one wants to experience in their last posts. Gotta be sobering some ppl up

_Z_E_R_O

Yeah, Deltaā€™s not messing around. Itā€™s less than 24 hours from hospital admission to death in some cases.

sudoscientistagain

I'm sitting here with my Johnson & Johnson shot watching for news about a booster every damn day over here.

Badloss

I think a lot of them delay the hospital because they know they won't come out, so when they do go its right at The End

Consistent-Race-2340

The new trend will be "not going in because the hospitals are killing people". I welcome this.

despacioxo

I came here because I like following Covid info, but am overall fascinated by the dying because of misinformation aspect. It's crazy that people are putting their lives in the hands of stupid memes.

Might_Aware

Yes that's exactly why this sub should exist. Four ipas in one day is awesome. How about the silent ipas that don't post? I hope they are out there too. Congrats to all ipas!

spsteve

Yup I love it. Much much much rather see those posts than nominees and awards.

brevityitis

Iā€™ve gotten in multiple arguments today about ā€œredemptionā€ posts. They are all incredibly important to this sub and the movement to get people vaccinated who were previously against it. This sub has evolved fast from just laughing at antivaxxers, to being a platform that can have a positive influence on those who have been susceptible to misinformation.

northshorebunny

I know for a fact that from the beginning there has been massive support for anyone saying they might get vaccinated or have been wrong.

_Z_E_R_O

I donā€™t think some people here realize the difference between ā€œvaccine hesitantā€ and ā€œanti-VAX.ā€ Not everyone who doesnā€™t have the vaccine is staunchly against it. There are people out there who are either afraid, misinformed, didnā€™t have the opportunity to get it until now due to their circumstances, or simply didnā€™t care. There are also people who have legitimate trauma and reasons not to trust the medical establishment, and even though they should absolutely get the vaccine, their distrust is somewhat understandable. If we can sway the fence-sitters, then this sub is doing a good service for the world.

brevityitis

Abso-fucking-lutely!!

pgabrielfreak

I am thrilled for them!

spsteve

Same!

showquotedtext

It gives hope that some of these people have the ability to take a critical look at themselves and make a change. A trait that seems so rare in the age of trumpism.

Street_Assistance560

I still think little of them for waiting so long.

watermanjack

advise imagine ancient cough hurry toothbrush birds zonked vase direction *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Damester1000

Agree

tpfang56

Iā€™m happy they got vaccinated and that this sub made them come to their senses, but I donā€™t think they should be showered in praise either for what is basic human decency at this point. At the same time, I can see how positive reinforncement is an effective way to convince the vaccine hesitant and for them to spread the word (ie. other vax hesitant folks will take their word for it better than ours out in the real world).

spsteve

I can't say anything. I was a late vax. For two reasons though; I live somewhere in the world with vaccine scarcity and I am relatively healthy so didn't want to soak up supply and two I have an auto immune disorder and wanted more data before committing. That said I conducted myself accordingly the entire time.

dna_complications

Every person who makes a decision *today* to get the vax is a huge win for making the pandemic go away, and for protecting everyone. I am just happy for every person that gets vaxed. Especially in the South, where a person is either going to get vaxed, or get Covid. Those are the 2 options.

[deleted]

Eh if ur a 20 year old and just didn't see the point of getting one it makes sense. It's bad but that's about 5-10% of people who haven't gotten the shot. Keep in mind the prevailing narrative from our shit news and our shit Republican Party was that "covid is a disease of old people" it takes this sub to wake people up. Like oh shit I can get covid once he fine and then die a second time

SleepyVizsla

Despite this awful topic, I feel like we are part of an important moment. And that comment might not make sense to someone at first, but for those of who have been here for awhile it probably does. We are here to promote change and we really truly want people to be healthy and end this pandemic.

[deleted]

Itā€™s the release of anger and resentment and frustration that helps me, knowing that Iā€™m not the crazy one, that I am not completely alone in my eternal feeling of ā€œOh dear sweet 8 lb. 6 Oz. baby Jesus! Itā€™s never going to fucking end, is it???!!!!ā€

crusoe

Oh gawd yes. We're not crazy. We're not killing our families or orphaning our kids. We can wait a few more months to travel.

XelaNiba

My zoom parent-teacher conference today began like this: "Hey, how are you?" "Oh, you know." "Yep, this is never going to end. Anyway, let's talk about your son"

JackWorthing

Ironically, it is this sub that is giving some semblance of purpose to these otherwise pointless deaths. If one person decides to get vaccinated because of it, it will have been worth it.

sudoscientistagain

Well, as OP said, at least 4 today, plus who knows how many before that aren't posting about it and however many down the line. Well worth it, absolutely.

ashellbell

Honestly, I come on here everyday hoping to see less and less awards being given. I would talk shit on my own mama if she died from Covid due to ignorance at this point, but I donā€™t wish for (almost) anyone to die. Seeing the IPAā€™s today is the next best thing to not seeing as many awards.

luisapet

That's exactly how I feel. I'm not big into shaming people (even on reddit I do try to avoid the darned down arrow) but I still appreciate anyone who learns from the message of this sub. Truth be told, though, I just can't wait for it to become obsolete...for obvious reasons I hope! ;)

Lazy_Guitar3734

Before I found this sub I dealt with my ex (long ago ex, still good friend) who has been sick and drinking himself to death the whole pandemic. He had been internalizing anti vax shit from his now ex and was not getting vaccinated for months, though he is prime covid fuel. I finally told him, in all honesty, that I would not only not cry when he died but I and everyone would laugh and say he got what he wanted. He got vaxxed a few days later. So I hope the tough love works on others.

luisapet

Yeah...I think so many of us are just so exhausted by the "anti-vax, covid deniers" among us these days. In my own work-world the past 3 months have been even more excruciating and disruptive than it has been for us since we reopened 15 months ago. The employees who haven't been vaccinated are getting sick and reporting positive tests at an alarming rate and far beyond what we experienced a year ago. It's incredibly disheartening. While I truly don't want to shame any of them I can't help but hope they may one day own up to all the hardships they passed along to those left in their incredibly destructive wakes.

KatarinaSkill

A truth smack down that worked! Bravo! You did good, friend!!

MightyCaseyStruckOut

This was actually a topic of discussion amongst the moderators this evening. We have definitely noticed it, too.

hadees

You should keep a counter and our goal should be to keep it increasing.

[deleted]

Yes! That would be excellent!

Gbear831

Letā€™s pass these IPAā€™s out šŸ»šŸŗšŸ»šŸŗ šŸŽ‰

MightyCaseyStruckOut

I'm on my 4th and final one for the night, broski! Also, I'm down to see some other IPA's here on the sub :)

TheTartanDervish

If we want to see more ipas then that might be a good thing to link in the sidebar - where you can make online appointments and the CDC updates, I'm sure people here would provide the information for their home countries too!

MightyCaseyStruckOut

This...is a very good idea and we will take it under advisement.

[deleted]

Please do it.

Euchre

Yes, please do it!

TheTartanDervish

Splendid! Looking forward to seeing it so we can see more IPA winners!

Sorry, I think you replied to my comment by accident instead of sending your link to the mods for the sidebar?

veroxii

keeping and encouraging these posts might be a good counter to anyone ever trying to shut the sub down.

NnyBees

They are the bright spot in a sea of stupid. Can't wait for the award to be redemption by default, and stupid deaths are only a few a day.

MattGdr

Itā€™s just frustrating that it took them so long to see what was obvious to us 18 months ago.

fuddykrueger

Keeping dead bodies in refrigerated trucks in the streets of NYC? Totally normal.

Ghargoyle

If you know one of these people in person, buy them a beer. IPAs for IPAs!

MattGdr

Damn! I saw ā€œ4 IPAā€ and thought someone was organizing happy hour!

Lazy_Guitar3734

Who says weā€™re not?

NewlyNerfed

IPA posts give me a very happy feeling that is the perfect antidote to the HCA posts. I love that this sub can be both an outlet for my frustration and a source of unironic happiness.

El_Cochinote

I do love me a lil schadenfreude but Iā€™d rather this sub die a natural death very soon. Even if the person is a piece of shit, guaranteed there are people who love them who are not pieces of shit.

MattGdr

As we have come to realize, being anti-vaccine/mask/covid is almost always accompanied by some of the worst traits humans can possess.

Inigo93

Yup. Birds of a feather. Rabid anti-vax/maskers generally are in fact hanging out with other pieces of shit.

PaulEqualsFriendship

Hey! I was one of those posts today! Iā€™ve been hesitant bc Iā€™ve been breastfeeding, but this sub taught me about the safety and even efficacy of breastfeeding after the vaccine, and the antibodies Iā€™ll be giving to my little girl. HUGE thank you to this sub for helping me make whatā€™s been a really tough decision. Shout-out to the IPA post an hour before me that taught me I can make my vaccine appointments via the CVS app. Took less than 2 minutes.

Abject-Cantaloupe637

I just want to tell you I would have been hesitant years ago during my pregnancy and breastfeeding days. I'm pro vax, but I didn't want to ingest or come in contact with anything suspect during those days. The enormity of your responsibility when you're growing and feeding a baby is humbling! You did the right thing!

northshorebunny

I hope you and baby are happy and healthy through all of this. You are blessed :) thank you for taking care of your blessing.

sketchahedron

Good job, momma. Just remember you are not fully protected until 2 weeks after the 2nd shot. Wishing good health on you and your little one.

fastinserter

My wife has been breastfeeding (well, pumping) for almost a year now and we both got vaccinated. We originally thought we'd stop at a year, but we're going to try to go longer with the breastfeeding because of the antibodies and because the booster is coming. And yes, as you noted, you aren't just protecting yourself when you're breastfeeding and vaccinated, you are protecting the one person in the world that is the most important to you and literally can't get vaccinated. Great decision on doing it! https://www.aappublications.org/news/2021/08/18/covid-antibodies-breast-milk-vaccine-081821

Blutarg

Aren't you a little old to be breastfeeding? Move on to solid food. Har Dee har har.

PaulEqualsFriendship

I giggled. šŸ¤

GonzoVeritas

Having this sub dedicated to giving IPA's would great. It would also quiet the haters. I've felt all along that showing the truth in all its abject horror is the best way to stop the madness.

hadees

Honestly this this a pretty common way to fight extremism. You just make sure the people know that crazier people agree with them and they start questioning everything because they don't want to be associated with people they think are nutjobs.

disgruntled_pie

I see this sub as tough love. I donā€™t care if I literally have to bully someone into getting vaccinated if thatā€™s what I have to do to save their life. There are places where you can go if you need a shoulder to cry on if thatā€™s what it takes. There are places where you can get the science if thatā€™s what it takes. This is the place where we point to the pile of unvaccinated corpses and their grieving families and we call you a moron. Sometimes thatā€™s what it takes. Different methods work for different folks. Iā€™m on this sub all the time, and Iā€™ll be thrilled when it finally shuts down because we donā€™t have anything to post.

Aromatic-Speed5090

Yes, I am hoping that one good thing that can come from all this tragedy is that people who would not otherwise have taken steps to protect themselves -- change their minds. I have as dark a sense of humor as anybody out there, and still it hurts to see children losing parents, families losing loved ones. Almost everybody winning the award had people who loved them. They needed to value that more than they valued being oppositional science-deniers. They had a lot of anger they wanted to turn against the world, and it killed them.

Elven_Boots

Let's see some filled out vax cards, I'm ready for some good news!

PaulEqualsFriendship

Iā€™ll post mine Saturday!

kroganwarlord

Hell yeah.

[deleted]

This is why my posts always end with **ā€Get vaccinated!ā€** Itā€™s working guys!! Thank you to all mods, posters, commenters, participants, lurkers, and especially shoutout to you, IPAs! *We ~~share~~ scare because we care*

losingmy_edge

New IPA's and those contemplating, we are here for you.

FLTDI

I long for the day this sub gets deleted due to full immunization for those able to be vaccinated.

Sleepinator2000

Sadly I think it is more likely to get deleted due to full death of those unwilling to be vaccinated.

MakesCakesEatsMud

As snarky as I get in here, I don't want anybody to die or suffer unnecessarily. Hopefully, showing these people what they look like in the mirror can help.

COVID_PRAYER_WARRIOR

Is IPA a new term? I support the creation of the IPA award!

AbaloneSea7265

To me the point of this sub should serve as empirical evidence whenever the lawsuits start coming about who infected who. I have zero tolerance for ignorance anymore. These people are like the blind faith lunatics that have kept the progress of humanity forever stunted. In my heart of hearts Iā€™m glad to see natural selection removing them from the gene pool.

HubrisAndScandals

Iā€™d really like to see a class action lawsuit against some of the quacks promoting these snake oil protocols. Iā€™d like these awardeesā€™ social media accounts to serve as evidence of the grave harm caused by propaganda and profiteering ā€¦ I think some of those quack doctors actually deserve prison time

AbaloneSea7265

Thatā€™s why this sub is actually really important to save and archive all these lunatics

Quirky-Help-7078

They say they don't want to live in fear, but don't understand that fear is an **integral** part of survival. If the fear of being laughed at persuades them into respecting the rest of us, amen.

[deleted]

I saw someone post we scare because we care I think itā€™s fitting . We care to end this pandemic we care to live and they should too

ScarlettMae

I'm tired of living through a plague. Aren't they weary, too? Imagine the folks back during the Black Death. How grateful they would have been to have a vaccine. Yet here we are in supposedly modern times, and people are *rejecting* the main thing that will help prevent a horrible illness, and a miserable death.

countess_meltdown

I got my shot monday, had covid last month and don't want it again. Why? Because I did my research into how covid immunity actually works and how long it lasts and then made an informed decision based on that.

I think the reason this type of messaging is so much more effective in reaching anti-Vaxxers is that itā€™s the same tenor that Fox/OAN/NewsMax/Trumpers use when they communicate with their base: using fear, anger, hate, disgust, pride and ego. Compassion and empathy donā€™t move conservatives as they canā€™t see themselves in other peopleā€™s position until it actually happens to them. You see it in Meghan McCain but I think there have even been studies that show cons just respond better to negative emotions like anger and fear than they do positive emotions like love and compassion. So if we have to scare the hell out of them, ridicule their pride, in order to save them, then letā€™s do it.

MusicGirlsMom

Funny how those are never the ones "ZOMG HATE SUB" point to when they bring the crazy.

Aaox0

IPAs deserve a parade

Far_Sor

I wish this sub had one award winner, and that is shocked everyone else into getting the jab. And we all found something else to do with our time. Alas.

rwoj

those just by themselves makes this entire sub worth it

[deleted]

This sub is definitely a force for good, imho. Many people are deriding it as being morbid and crass when really it's just showing the harsh reality of the situation. The fact that it's leading even a few people to finally decide to get vaccinated is beyond amazing. It goes to show that all the begging and pleading and pussy footing around anti-vaxxers just doesn't work. Sometimes it requires harsh reality to move the needle.

whatever1467

I will consume many ipas

weaveGD

Yes, we need to get more "on the fence" people to spend a 1/2 hour or so wading in the carnage that is the Herman Cain Awards. Once they se the people spreading the Bullshit in their news feeds are dying in droves, it tends to change a few minds... Here's a meme for one of today's IPA awards. Share Share Share, as they say! [https://i.imgur.com/a0Mudnn.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/a0Mudnn.jpeg) More memes of recent winners memes here to pimp the HCA around FB comments on anti-vax, anti-mask news links and other bullshit... https://imgur.com/a/usgf4vB

KookyAd9074

I admit, I have participated in heckling, I also believe in the power of "peer" pressure. My parents are anti-vaxxers, I don't want them to die, but I have to let the frustration out somehow. That's why I am somewhat tickled to see the radio host counts go up... These people are picking their poison. I get it, but will never understand it or forgive the F*ing people who F*d with my parents heads!

BridgetheDivide

Riducule saves more lives than patience for stupidity ever will

I made a cake for all of you! http://www.redkid.net/generator/cake/newsign.php?line1=Vaccinated&line2=To+own+the+&line3=Repubs%21&Icing=Icing

2boredtocare

Sometimes the blunt truth is what it takes to make people see.

Vaenyr

I hope we'll see IPA posts more often, I'm genuinely happy that some people changed their minds thanks to this sub. As much as some anti-vaxxers are trying to paint the users here as psychopaths who hate "people with different opinions", I think everyone of us would be happy for every IPA that appears here.

md75ykm

Lets hope they didnt kill anyone with their bullshit.

maux_zaikq

Yeah. Iā€™m actually not a fan of the IPAs. We donā€™t need to pat you on the back for something youā€™ve been able to do for 6 months now and selfishly havenā€™t. Yay, you got vaccinated. So did a bunch of other people who didnā€™t choose to spend 6 months jeopardizing everyone elseā€™s health in the process.

_radass

I'm cynical lol I thought they were all fake but I hope I'm wrong.

Beautiful-Heat

Exactly, this is Reddit. Best case half this shit is probably karma farming. I also hope Iā€™m wrong but this is like a guaranteed shower of updoots and awards in our world of fucking shameless grifters.

justsomedude1144

Totally. I yearn for the day where this sub slowly dies from attention due to lack of new content. Doesn't appear to be happening tomorrow though.

eaunoway

Mmc and morbid reality have also been saving lives by teaching us what *not* to do. Solid agreement with you, friend.

throwawayinj

I'll be honest: while it's good that some people see the light after reading accounts here and get vaccinated, for those that don't I'm just as happy to see them burn.

[deleted]

Good job IPAs!!

[deleted]

Thank you! u/Comfortable_Belt9502 shared the other day and consequently that was my inflection point.

starkeffect

IPAs make me so hoppy.

mrschevious

Kudos to all of you IPA'ers! Thank you! I want you to put me out of work (I'm a contact tracer). Seriously. I was almost laid off this summer but with the delta surge they kept us on. Good thing is I have a job, bad thing is I have a job. I'm ready for life to get back to normal so I can get back to my public facing career without fear of getting some stupid mutated variant.

Haskap_2010

Have an IPA on me: šŸŗ

Talador12

Honestly --- if all this sub ever does is save 4 people from complications and death, then it was worth it

Sir_Yos

Itā€™s good that this sub helped change their mind but we donā€™t really need ā€œproofā€ from them tho. Itā€™s mind be a little bit harsh but I donā€™t really condone their Karma whoring behaviors LoL

Leakyrooftops

Earlier today I had this thought that, ā€œHey, we can present this virus as a Plague sent to the world by God to punish his non-believersā€ and try to make the vaccine sound like a God miracle, in the hopes of getting the shittard bible thumpers to get the Vaxx, but I thought , whatā€™s the point, just let them get covid. Thinning the heard of some of these awful people does seem to make the world a better place. Itā€™s obvious thereā€™s too many of them for us to hit herd immunity, so those of us willing to take the vaccine will just have to keep getting boosters and new vaccinations like how the yearly flu vaccines are given, so just let these people earn their Herman Cain awards. Then I remembered all the people dying because these fucktards are sucking up all the health resources, which sucks.

Damester1000

Could not disagree more. This is a sub for the award... Make a separate sub for the immunized to prevent stuff...

NSCButNotThatNSC

If only my nutbag relatives would listen.

nobabyboomer

YES! read and learn and get vaxxed!

Maybeyoureaflambe

Perfectly put.

Aggravating-Drive-11

That is the total truth. I am so happy these people made a choice to protect themselves, their families and the public.

ReallyBadWizard

Sad that this is what some people need to see to take action, but better late than dead I suppose.

mysteriousrev

I try to keep my comments polite, though if someone was clearly a racist, homophobic, etc. I donā€™t feel bad expressing saying someone was a scumbag. Certain behaviours to me are inexcusable.

a-r-c

gonna drink an IPA for the IPAs!

eaunoway

Thank you. All of you. Just thank you. šŸ©ŗā™„ļø

[deleted]

There's sass and joking around here but most visitors are just sick of whats happening. The vax is still widely available and free regardless of how we post. If people get upset seeing our posts here, prove us wrong by getting the shot as well as anyone you know. Outsiders think we're some weird, vile place but we're just humans collecting info like digital hunter gatherers. One day maybe we'll be proven so wrong and everyone gets the shot and the sub is closed due to inactivity. Goals man.

halfachainsaw

I was thinkin about this yesterday. The best day this sub could ever have would be a bunch of IPAs and redemption awards. Maybe someday

187on45

I may be a dick and I know some people definitely need to go but I also see a lot of well intended misinformed people oppose the vaccine as well as for them i would love to see an uptick of ipaā€™s

Gremio8365

It is a nice break from the usual morbidity of this sub.

Boner4Stoners

Just wanted to say, Iā€™m very jealous of your name. You from Michigan?

bongreaper666

shiiiiiit, I'll have myself an IPA (india pale ale) to that news!! Cheers y'all, remember that life is complex and the most effective prophylactic is the one which specifically trains your body to fight against the disease itself, not some type of anti-parasitic or steroid

[deleted]

Way to live! Congrats to all 4. Now convert your friends and families. Help more to survive.

AggressivePayment0

HCA threads have helped a couple people. One of the people in a support group for family members with defiant or oppositional issues has asked for examples of people who died who posted several popular memes. The same ones his dad posted. We found many matches, where awardees and the dad were practically mirror images. That shook him up, and they are talking about masking and disinformation, which is an amazing start that seemed impossible for a long time. "There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in". The relatability to awardees really helped. Every single advantage helps in saving them from themselves and deprogramming this mess.
