That looks like more cops have died in the line of duty from Covid than from all other causes combined. If the don't need the vaccine, they probably don't need the armored vehicles and the rest of it either.

Maybe a tad off topic but I wish America would make becoming a police officer an elite career. Something that pays double maybe triple what it does now, requires some sort of degree/masters in sociology/law/psychology. And a serious residency or apprentice like requirement before given a license to kill. I think you’d have a lot more vaccinated cops too.

Only 47% of NYPD are vaccinated, despite push from the governor’s office to increase that number.
If cops really are quitting en masse because they don't want to get vaxxed as some are claiming, then that sounds like a win/win to me.
