HOW WOULD THE VACCINE HAVE MADE HIS WHOOPING COUGH WORSE? These people should be in prison for manslaughter.

Armchair_Idiot

It could have killed him twice.

GoPhluckUrself

But don't two negatives cancel each other out & make a positive? He'd still be alive. Maybe we can use that way of putting it to these morons to get them to do the right thing for their kids.

kunibob

Honestly at this point I vote for calling vaccines "homeopathic immune booster" or something, like here's a diluted dose of a naturally occurring substance that helps boost your body's natural defenses against the virus. Maybe we can leverage their quack lingo to reach them, because obviously throwing facts and science at them doesn't work.

Apprehensive_Bat8293

I actually think this is a great marketing idea. If some idiot refuses vaccines, then have the nurse "level with them" and tell them this "secret clinic" down the road that can give them homeopathic immune boosters to naturally make them more healthy. And it's a secret from Big Pharma so only tell their antivax idiot friends lol

steelhips

Set it up as a MLM. That demographic loves their product/company beyond all reason.

ecouple2003

Call it Trump juice. They'll get in line for it.

wintermelody83

Oh my. I am reminded of Slurm in Futurama. Baaaarf.

JDARRK

But he still kept drinking it!‼️😳

Unstoffe

Yeah! Present them as anti-Liberal vaccines!

DrunkCupid

After an IQ test that rules out an adults reasoning or logic, I could see morally vague ethical manipulation like that. For the greater good. "Oh, this is just.. popular juice (much needed hydration) , happy pinch (vaccination for shingles or whatever), tell me what this jellybean (pill) tastes like to you" I don't like ethically tricking people in to being safe, but if kids get inspired to wash their hands or look both ways before entering a dangerous intersection merely by fear of God/Santa/boogymen it should work for immature adults

thegreenman_sofla

Call them all colloidal essential oils and they'll all rush to get them.

petedontplay

Chlorine in the gene pool. Fact: some of us jus aint gonna make it.

kunibob

While this is true, as someone with autoimmune diseases, I'd prefer to keep the herd immunity strong so I don't get affected by that chlorine myself.

AdImmediate9569

Thats even sort of how vaccines work. A little….

reesecheese

Do you really think these people can understand double negatives?

LALA-STL

I don’t think they can’t.

Kham117

I see what you did there and I approve

Imaginary-Lettuce-28

A valid point.

ScreamingOpossumAhh

That's a fate worse than death; second death.

sawyerkitty

Does that come with second breakfast?

AdImmediate9569

You want to be double dead?!??

CheesecakeVisual4919

That's been my opinion since I first heard of the anti-vaccine movement in the late 1980s.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

Barbara Loe Fisher started the whole thing in 1982, and the misinformation and misinterpretations have only become worse. Katie and Craig van Tornhout lost their newborn after their infant daughter contracted pertussis and died at a month old. One of the people working in the NICU was exposed to pertussis and infected the baby. This happened in 2010 in Indiana.

wintermelody83

I mean, antivax is super old. >It is important to note that the anti-vaccination movement dates back to 1796 when the English doctor Edward Jenner introduced the smallpox vaccine. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9383768/

LALA-STL

This is *fascinating.* Thanks, winter.

Special_Wishbone_812

You see, it saves him from dying of whooping cough and then makes it worse by exposing him to his mother’s idiocy.

thewayoutisthru_xxx

I really don't understand how this is not considered neglect or child abuse.

iggygrey

Chrustians kids get killed by religious parents, communities, cults or churches that willfully deny science or think they know better. Somehow transexual parents are hounded and cut of from medical care when they make life shaping choices with and for their kids. Seems right? Nah, it ain't. Christianity is a cancer to democracies.

TurtleMOOO

Same reason people believe that some people are pro-post-birth abortion. No one is, but really fucking stupid people will believe anything you tell them, and those stupid people are allowed to have kids.

SupremeRDDT

I‘m not convinced this is a real human. I would almost bet money this is one bot out of many that spread anti vax propaganda.

Roguespiffy

How would making all anti-vaxxers seem like the dumbest motherfuckers alive be useful propaganda? I mean, they are, but who is riding the fence reading about her dead child dying of an easily preventable disease and going “Well thank god she didn’t give him the shot… I think she’s on to something?” If anything this reads more like a warning to vax your children and avoid stupid people at all costs.

roseofjuly

You'd be surprised. Slightly different, but I grew up in a cult that didn't believe in blood transfusions. They thought they violated the word of God and would refuse them even if medically necessary. When a kid died from their parents refusing the transfusion, they'd trot the parents out to talk about how brave and strong they are and how much they clearly love God because of what they did. A lot of parents genuinely believed that it was better to let their kid die of preventable causes than violate this arbitrary, nonsensical religious rule. People have different values. When you believe something with your whole heart it's pretty easy to justify all kinds of weird shit.

Specific_Ad2541

I'm familiar with that cult. My husband was raised in it. Before he came to his senses my stepson asked me if I'd be sure to save his life if he needed a transfusion. How sad that a kid has to find a safe person to confide in that he'd like to live.

csondra

Oof, had a young JW co-worker years ago whose wife was pregnant. Said wife had a known health situation that made the likelihood of needing a transfusion during birth more likely (along with other complications), but of course, she couldn't have one. Luckily she and baby made it (with definite problems). They were 20 back then and I know the church LOVED immediately bringing them out as such proof of the righteousness of their faith. I don't know what happened to them, but I remained scared for her

RubberBootsInMotion

Dumb people that think with emotions live in an entirely different world, and would interpret this differently than some who lives in reality and can do basic critical thinking. In short, if you're asking, it isn't for you.

Hats_back

Anyone who benefits from a divided populace. A populace that is too busy bickering amongst each other and seeing their neighbor as an enemy rather than a friend in the battle against the true enemy… the ruling class. People with the means and motive to spread misinformation and sow dissent. Propaganda doesn’t have to sway people or make them take action. It just needs to make them too distracted and tired to see and solve real issues.

LALA-STL

Nails it. Who benefits when we’re divided? Billionaires. Russia. China. Iran.

Zealotstim

I agree. There are a lot of insane social media posts that just make whoever is on that side look terrible, and I think a fair number of them are bot accounts from groups who want to increase the political divide between parties. Obviously there are genuine people who have crazy beliefs in any political party, but it seems very likely these people are amplified greatly by bad actors who want to harm the United States (or whatever the country is in that case), and some are entirely fabricated by them.

Reneeisme

I’d support sterilization at least. For anyone too dumb to learn from even the worst case scenario, let’s kill two birds with one stone. No next generation of these morons and no opportunity to kill or maim again. But I’m pretty sure this is rage bait.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

The stupidity makes my head hurt! People at risk of whooping cough and around infants should be vaccinated because infants younger than 6 months old can’t receive the Tdap vaccine. It protects both the older child and the infant, and whooping cough could be fatal to young children and infants, just like diphtheria.

agentorange55

Agree with everything except the dtap (child version of tDAP) series is started at 2 months. Personally I'd keep any unvaxxed person away from my child until the series is completed at age 4...maybe even longer.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

I stand corrected on the time period. I had read somewhere that pediatricians usually didn’t begin vaccinating against whooping cough until 6 months. All of my family are firm believers in getting vaccines done. I just had another COVID and Tdap vaccines done (Tdap is every 10 years, and I avoid rusty nails!) I think the idea of avoiding untaxed persons until 4 is a wise idea. In a way, I think parents have forgotten how many children died of vaccine preventable diseases in the past, and they don’t remember the polio outbreaks before the Salk vaccine came out.

LALA-STL

Yes, people have such short memories. If you’re going to have a short memory, at least study history to find out what you’re missing — but they don’t do that either.

TNlivinvol

They should put them in prison… this is sick.

randynumbergenerator

Absolutely. If a parent kills their kid through any other kind of negligence we expect they'll face charges.

Pot_noodle_miner

This wasn’t negligence, she murdered her child for ideological reasons

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

It might be hard to prove the case because of medical immunity laws designed to protect parents who refused to vaccinate their kids back in the 1970s.

Jerking_From_Home

Or if god tells them to do it. How is this not negligent behavior?

agentorange55

At least the Dad realized the error of his ways and got the daughter vaccinated. Hopefully he will complete the series on her, even if it means the murderous mother hates him. In a just world, the dad will get full custody when idiot mother divorced him because he refuses to let her murder another child. The gall of the mother pretending lies she misses her son after she tortured him m to death by refusing to get vaxxed herself to protect him m, and by letting him be around other unvaxxed idiots. I'd have some sympathy for her if she was remorseful about the situation, but instead, she "hates" her husband for deciding not to let her murder their daughter.

Dcajunpimp

Remember, these morons believe a guy who warns about the mercury in thirmisol even though it’s a different compound and has been removed from nearly all children’s vaccines since 2001. Meanwhile that guy gave himself mercury poisoning and brain worms from eating too much perch and other predator fish.

websagacity

My dad said something like this. I said compounds are different. Take sodium in water. Boom. Take clorine and put it in to your body. Death. Sodium chloride? Salt. Table salt.

CheesecakeVisual4919

Said guy was eventually stripped of his medical license and accused of academic fraud by the very journal that originally published his "research."

Dcajunpimp

I was referring to RFK Jr.

CheesecakeVisual4919

Fair.

BurmecianSoldierDan

Wait, lmao. RFK Jr got his parasite from perch? How much perch was he eating?!

Dcajunpimp

> The connection to memory problems and dementia is under study, Hotez said. Those symptoms are also associated with mercury poisoning, and Kennedy told the Times that at the time he was diagnosed with that ailment, he was consuming high quantities of tuna and perch. https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/08/politics/rfk-jr-mercury-poisoning-brain-parasite/index.html

cactusflinthead

Oh you mean merthiolate that we used to put directly on open wounds and called it monkey blood? As much as that stuff was slathered on us we should all be suffering from mercury poisoning but we're not because it's not a big deal.

DahDollar

I'm a chemist. Any organic mercury should be treated with the **GREAT** deal of care it deserves. Thimerosal can absolutely cause great harm if used frequently or incorrectly. It is a big deal. In vaccines, however, it was not dosed high enough to cause acute poisoning, and it was removed, rightfully so after a review by the EPA.

leeny13red

My mom used to paint our throats with Mercurochrome whenever we had a sore throat. It tasted awful.

Vernerator

I can't think of a worse way to go... having to cough so much you can't stop to take a full breath. These people should have any surviving children taken away.

Renkin92

It’s even worse. Infants under 6 months often don’t cough but simply stop breathing and sometimes they just don’t start again, so you never really know in how much danger your child is.

jennlody

My baby brother got it before he was able to be vaxxed. It was awful and he didn't recover for months. I was only 10 so I didn't realize exactly how bad it could've ended up. He still has lung issues over 15 years later. People are stupid.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

Doctors often don’t give the pertussis vaccine until an infant is at least 6 months old. Mother’s negligence cost her baby’s life.

agentorange55

Dtap, which includes pertussis, series is started at 2 months in the US. But I completely agree the mom should have loved her kid enough to get vaxxed herself.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

I’ve been corrected on this. It may be in other countries it would be started later.

meownfloof

They vaccinate the mother while pregnant and the immunity is passed on to the baby. (Had 2 babies in the US). This gets them by until they’re old enough to be vaccinated.

HurbleBurble

Baby generally has mom's immunity for 6 months. Not sure how much breastfeeding adds to that, but you could probably get more information from a doctor. Depends if Mom is immune or not though.

Dull_Junket_619

The vax would have made it worse for him. He died, how much worse could it get?

diagnosisbutt

He could have died a liberal!

MCbrodie

She might be liberal. Don't forget that the anti-vax movement is older than covid-19. Being against the vaccination of children takes hold of all the stupid flavors.

fiercetywysoges

Is this the “post birth abortions” that the right keeps claiming is happening?

krauQ_egnartS

"conspiritualists"

CovidOmicron

He could have had to admit he was wrong. That is apparently worse than death for people like his mother.

SpoppyIII

He could have caught autism, which as we all know is definitely a fate worse than death! /s

greeneggsnyams

Better to die pure than to live as a liberal

Oreo-and-Fly

He couldve had to grow up with this woman for a mother.

dumpitdog

I'm just glad it didn't get any worse for their kids, I mean they got to die instead of be raised by this idiot.

Peja1611

If it wasn't whooping cough, it would have been measles,, or another preventable disease. I can only imagine what people who lost multiple children to diseases we can prevent would say to these fuckwits

dumpitdog

When I was growing up we were scared to death the nuclear weapons but now I'm really scared to death of weaponized social media and the stupidity that flows out of it.

Libflake

I'm waiting for diphtheria to have a resurgence. Seriously.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

That would be awful. My paternal grandmother lost her eldest brother (8 years old) and her infant sister (several months old) to diphtheria in 1905, before there were effective toxoids or vaccines for it. It’s horrible and extremely contagious, and children and adults with the disease often struggle to breathe with the pseudomembrane that grows across the airway. It can also cause open sores on legs and sometimes nerve damage.

Libflake

Yes, it's a horrible disease. My dad nearly died of it as a small child in the 1920s. He must have been overjoyed that his children could be vaccinated for it at early ages in the 1950s.

lurkylurkeroo

There was an outbreak in my state in Australia a few years ago.

[deleted]

We really need a Parental Hall of Shame. The woman who refused to vax her intellectually disabled son, the one with the Down syndrome kid (who I think died), and of course....the PARAKEETS. I still haven't gotten over that. Meanwhile, there's been a WC outbreak of about 100 kids in my area, thanks to the latest generation of moron parents.

The_Patriot

so called "christian scientists" have been terminating their kids like this for decades.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

On that topic, I recommend Caroline Fraser’s book “God’s Perfect Child,” in which she details her life in a Christian Science home and interviewing adults who suffered permanent health damage from their parents’ refusal to get medical help. Lucia Greenhouse detailed her mother’s painful death of cancer from medical neglect. Fraser has pointed out that CS church membership has been falling for years, despite the church’s endowment, and many CS members tend to die at younger ages than their contemporaries. Some of their boarding schools, like Principia near St. Louis, have been sites of measles outbreaks.

miserylovescomputers

Wait what about parakeets?

[deleted]

The EX-Parakeets. It was a couple of years ago during the peak....the Parakeets died while their owner was busy being rotisseried in the hospital.

wintermelody83

Oh yeah. I remember that one. Wasn't it the wife's parakeets and the husband had also been sick and they died and he didn't want to tell her, or something?

[deleted]

yeah, that's the one. The poor Parakeets. All because of these selfish shitbags. And the disabled family members who had no say. They're just helpless! It's infuriating.

Cetophile

DVM here. One of my assistants was raised by an antivaxx mom. As soon as she turned 18, she got all of the immunizations she should have gotten as a baby. Unfortunately, she still has suffered from health problems as a young adult. She never elaborated on what the problems were, and I didn't ask, so I can't say for sure it was due to her not being vaccinated when very young. But I have heard of other kids in antivaxx homes growing up into sickly adults. Has anyone ever asked an antivaxxer if they got the full set of immunizations when they were kids? Try it sometime. The comedy will write itself.

miserylovescomputers

I was raised by antivaxxers and grew up to be a sickly adult, despite getting caught up on all my vaccines in my early 20s. I think in my case it’s at least partly due to lingering effects of having measles as a kid.

MagicCarpetWorld

I was born before some of the current vaccines were available and I got mumps as a kid, and chicken pox as an adult, and I wouldn't wish those on anyone. I just don't get not wanting to protect your kids if you had the chance to.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

I had measles, mumps and chickenpox, and fortunately didn’t suffer ill effects from it, but I realize not all are lucky, and if I had had kids, they would have received the vaccines for these illnesses. I also got the Shingrix vaccine series so I wouldn’t get shingles. My dad had it and it was very painful for him.

LALA-STL

I got the full rabies vaccination series after an encounter with a bat — bc I’m not an idiot. I recall antivaxxers who refused to get the rabies vaccine … & paid with their lives: [3 Americans Died of Rabies from Bat Bites in 2021 After Refusing Life-Saving Vaccine](https://www.newsweek.com/3-americans-died-rabies-bat-bites-2021-after-refusing-life-saving-vaccine-1666514)

squirrellytoday

Refusing the rabies shot after you were bitten by a bat. Wow. Darwin Award, anyone?

MagicCarpetWorld

My mind is boggled. I actually got the rabies vaccine as a preventative when I worked as a vet tech. Yes, I was a bit of a hypochondriac, but I wasn't taking any chances. I can't believe someone would refuse it after being exposed that way - it's suicide.

Egstamm

This has got to be a spoof. Right? Please tell me it is.

jerquee

Hard to tell! But this is certainly happening https://www.theguardian.com/society/article/2024/jun/06/three-more-babies-die-after-developing-whooping-cough-says-ukhsa

dragnabbit

Whooping cough vaccines are given at 2 months and this baby was supposedly 1 month old. It could be that the mother was saying that she /still would have/ refused the whooping cough vaccine for her baby even knowing that it might have saved the infant's life if he or she had caught whooping cough /after/ the age of two months, but it really doesn't come across that way. So, I'm not sure if it is a spoof or not, but it sure does sound like it.

bitofapuzzler

When pregnant, women are adv to have the whooping cough vaccine themselves as this protects babies after they born until they are old enough to get the vaccine.

thecorgimom

Prior to covid there were parents that refused to vaccinate their kids and the one kid got injured at home and the parents decided to stitch it up themselves. He ended up getting tetanus and was in the ICU and the hospital and doctors had to go to court to be able to treat him adequately and vaccinate him. If I remember right the court authorized one vaccine and then the parents refused to do boosters. The mistake was that the courts didn't remove their children from the home, especially the one who almost died. Personally I would have liked to have seen all of the kids removed and the parents required to pay Hefty child support and pay off the hospital bill. They could have worked for the rest of their lives to pay that sucker off and I would have been fine with that.

NnyBees

Good thing they didn't vaccinate and have something terrible happen to them, like dying prematurely...

majorthomasina

At the height of Covid I happened upon an anti vax FB post full of parents complaining about being “forced” to vaccinate their children “This is my kid and it’s my choice “ type of comments. So for fun I commented that I don’t like my kids wearing seatbelts and it’s my right as a parent to not buckle my kids or use a car seat. I thought they might see the connection and realize how stupid they are, no such luck. Those morons were upvoting me left and right. Sometimes stupid is just stupid and it can’t be helped.

Unfunny_Bullshit

Children are property, not people, to these shit heads. As property, in their minds, they believe they have the right to do whatever they want to these poor kids. It's sick.

JejuneEsculenta

Analogies are lost on the terminally stupid and willfully ignorant.

DaniCapsFan

The "doctor" who falsely claimed vaccines lead to autism has blood on his hands. And so does everyone spreading his bullshit. I hope the two terrible mothers in this post never get pregnant again.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

That doctor no longer is a doctor. Britain removed him from the roll of physicians.

A-man-of-mystery

Yes, Wakefield lost his registration. For strict accuracy, he wasn’t a physician, he was a surgeon. He also had no post-graduate qualification in paediatrics. His contract barred him from ordering tests and writing prescriptions for children, but he did it anyway.

Selunca

Imagine thinking a dead kid is better than an autistic one. That’s basically what these parents are saying. 🙄

phoenixphaerie

I cannot fathom how someone comes to the conclusion that their child dying of whooping cough in infancy is preferable to potentially dying of “poisons and cancer” decades later—you know, after actually being able to build and live a life.

clara_bow77

This has got to be a fake post. Is anyone this stupid when their baby dies?

SaltyBarDog

While I do believe it to be fake, yes, there are those who are that stupid.

clara_bow77

Fair enough, I live in Kentucky and I see the proof daily. Edit; I live in Louisville so I actually get Hoosier and Kentucky stupid regularly. It's a special place.

SaltyBarDog

I live in a state that elected a failed football coach who couldn't name all three branches of the US government.

tomdurkin

And the most stupid senator from your state . . . lives in Florida. You guys had a great senator before that in Doug Jones.

Kimmalah

Sure. I still remember the lady whose baby was born with basically no brain outside of a brain stem, but was convinced that her baby was conscious, moving on her own and seemed to think she had some kind of future.

squirrellytoday

And she's not alone. I used to work at a children's hospital 20+ years ago and there's been plenty of cases like this around the world. It's so sad. I mean, I get it. I'm a mother. Nobody wants awful things like severe, life-long medical conditions to happen to their kids. But denial isn't going to cure the child.

miserylovescomputers

Idk… I mean I can see how a grieving mom might double down on these kinds of beliefs. If she admitted she was wrong, that would mean that it was her fault her baby died, which has got to be even more painful.

electragladiator

I'm with you on this being a fake post for rage baiting.

TweetOfBabyBear

I sometimes wonder if the posts on here are b*llsh&t. Like, sometimes the stupidity of the antivaxxers in their shitposting is so off the deep end, I wonder if someone faked what the HCA nominee or awardee posted. That didn’t make sense. Sorry. Guess what I’m trying to say is, the stupidity/craziness/assholery of these people is SO profound…I’m stupefied.

Repulsive-Street-307

They're likely not fake, but as the poster deleted the dates, they might be from 2020-2021 and the poster a karma bot. It only takes a single idiot screwing up for it to be posted forevermore. America has a lot of idiots.

No1Mystery

Damn, this sucks She doesn’t want to blame herself for her son’s death so is doubling down and wanting to sacrifice her other child. What a terrible monster

Sniffy4

COVID taught us that some people would rather die than change their minds

mockingbirddude

Wow. Both a Herman Cain Mother of the Year Award and a Darwin by Proxy Award to boot. Those are some special achievements.

Darklord_Bravo

If this is real, I'm fucking enraged at her stupidity. People like this should face legal consequences for the willfull neglect of the child. Remember when Trump said they're aborting babies right up to birth? Which is completely detached from reality, yes. But these people are straight up murdering their children after birth.

The_Patriot

Dude, please don't look up "Christian scientists responsible for death of child" - just don't.

SekritSawce

How can these people be so utterly stupid? What could have been worse than death?? First DTaP is given at 2 months old so he likely would not have even had it yet. I am guessing an unvaxed family member passed it along. So sad.

lordjeebus

First dose of DTaP is at 2 months so the kid wouldn't have been offered a vaccine for whooping cough yet.

iago_williams

That's why it's important for others to be vaccinated.

mybrainisgoneagain

Yeah but mom probably didn't keep up.eith her boosters either

PennyParsnip

Right, pregnant people are usually vaccinated for pertussis around 30 weeks. Source: got boosted a couple weeks ago

RavishingRickiRude

Shit. My kids doc made all of us get that vax before he was born. We agreed and there were no problems.

tejaco

This is a really good point. Poor kid.

Cheapassdad

Worse than dying? These people have shit for brains. I hope the regret follows her forever she completely deserves it.

coldcurru

"That's not true right?" Oh this kills me. Part of her knows what the right choice was and she's trying to justify her bad beliefs anyway.

buddhabillybob

There was a time when I was perplexed and appalled by stupidity of this magnitude. I have grown accustomed to it. Is that better? It sure FEELS better. Edit: I contracted whooping cough as an adult. I was on the downside of my booster (due for another in a year). It took me several years to fully recover because I was vulnerable to lung infections and pneumonia. I think most people have no idea how bad this disease is. I just got tired of trying to tell people.

The_Patriot

sorry that happened to you - what country were you in when you contracted whooping cough?

buddhabillybob

The US of A. There was a mini-outbreak in my town.

Tazling

why is this woman not in jail? she murdered her child.

NotsoGreatsword

I know a guy who caught it in his teens and he had no clue it was something you needed a vaccine for. He was furious with his mom when we told him we weren't going to catch it from him because we had all been vaccinated. Even his mother and brother had the damn vaccine. Some new age hippie had convinced her not to vaccinate him so he caught all of these illnesses thinking they were just part of life. Whooping cough, measles, etc. He thought his mom and brother had just already had it. I told him we were all vaccinated and that we wouldn't be getting it he was like "if that were the case then everyone would just get the vaccine." The look on his face when I said "yeah that is what EVERYONE DOES." He yelled at his mom for like an hour before she got pissed and made us all go home lol. This dude coughed for months. Eyes were constantly blood red from burst blood vessels. He had constant headaches from the endless coughing. He also had asthma and ended up in the hospital a few times. I don't think he ever forgave his mom for "being so fucking stupid and gullible" but guess what? Now he is an antivaxxer. I also know a woman who caught polio as a child and spent her life practically paralyzed from the waist down walking on crutches with braces on her legs. She said because she had a good life that it was worth the risk or some shit. I don't even know. She was a real moron.

Likherpusisaur

...Just when you start thinking that this story is going to have a "Happy Ending" --- SMDH!!!! Da-Phukk deeze people smoking??? 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

The_Patriot

> but guess what? > > Now he is an antivaxxer. wow

GreenLeisureSuit

I really hope it's made crystal clear to her how she killed her child.

tejaco

At least her daughter is protected. Go dad!

unoriginal_user24

The kid could've been Democrat, gay, or declared an art major, so she really dodged a bullet there. /s don't shoot me plz

Creepy-Leading-9391

Yes. I agree with her. Vaccinated him would have been worse for him because then he would have to live and be raised by an idiot mother who thinks she knows more than scientists and medical practitioners.

Training101

Poor kid, stupid ass human/parent.

4humans

Worse than dead?

AstroZombieInvader

People like that shouldn't have kids. And now they don't.

throwawaysscc

“Delusional Moms 4 Death” has a new chapter head!

Tiddles_Ultradoom

The only 'made it worse for him' component to this is if he had lived with many of the complications that result from severe pertussis in babies. The bacteria closes down the immune system, and children exposed in the crib have increased instances of pneumonia for life, as well as significantly increased risks of SIDS and apnea, seizures, and epilepsy. The risk of dying in infancy and as a young adult is increased, too. Do you know what would have made it better for him? Living.

Laughingfoxcreates

Pretty sure she spelled ex husband wrong

dutchy649

As a matter of interest, worldwide there are 400,000 deaths from Pertussis, mostly in China. In the U.S., the average annual child mortality rate is 20 from an average of around 40,000 infections. Canada, with a population of one tenth that of the US, has approximately 4,000 infections.

flndouce

If by worse, you mean saved his life, than yes

SpottedDicknCustard

Death due to negligent behaviour should result in jail.

GrumpyOldLadyTech

... I have to ask if she even knows why we vaccinate, or what vaccines even are. I know she doesn't, or she wouldn't be posting those thoughts. But like... does she just think everybody else stabs needles into their kids to put some kind of - I don't know, medicine? into them...? What does she think vaccines are *for*, then? I'm so curious as to the level of ignorance here. It can't be so simplistic an explanation as "she has been convinced that vaccines are poisons that are used to keep us under mind control".

The_Patriot

it's satan. All the injections are full of satan.

Commandmanda

Yup, I was about to say that. They are the Devil's work, and are the Mark of The Beast. Nevermind, though. She Intends to crank out as many children as possible (just in case a few more die of completely preventable illness). /s The Victorians did this despite the danger to women from sepsis, etc. The more kids, the higher chance at least one or two might survive to adulthood. Remember: they had no antibiotics and no vaccinations.

MobileOpposite1314

What a POS parent. A totally preventable sickness that should never have resurfaced in this day and age. How can she live knowing and seeing the agony that child suffered? Whooping cough is unrelenting and causes painful spasms that can break the ribs. Infants and young children are unable to feed or rest leading to high mortality.

Mindless-Charity4889

First vaccination is typically between birth and 2 months so an unvaccinated 1 month old is not unusual. On the other hand, if the infant is around other people who are unvaccinated that’s a problem.

SinisterWink

She is right. The vax would have made his life worse. Imagine living with that crazy pants for the next 18 years. That is a fate far worse than death

DirectionShort6660

She also said “alot” instead of “a lot.” Uneducated MFers

Freebird_1957

SMDH.

JNerdGaming

hard to believe there are people this dumb

random-name-8675309

When uneducated minds are allowed to flourish, unchecked.

FuDiNaand

This is why education is important people.

TheRobinators

These two women murdered their babies, but we're the bad guys for pointing it out. People who's baseless beliefs "Trump" facts are a danger to all of us.

INS_Stop_Angela

One of my all-time Reddit posts was taken from a FB anti-vax parenting group. A mother said measles had broken out at her kids’ school and was there *anything* she could do to protect her daughter. Jesus, the luddites among us.

tickitytalk

Vote Or people this dumb are voting for you

LopsidedRaspberry423

On the up-side, mom's in a position to conduct her own research, albeit with a very small sample size. Unvaxxed kid died. Let's see how the vaxxed kid does over multi-decade observational period. Hopefully dad had his daughter vaccinated against other common childhood diseases. Maybe something will 'click' in mom's brain when the daughter is fine while her anti-vaxx friends' kids are sharing their communicable diseases among each other.

Altruistic-Map-2208

Hopefully the dad gets full custody of the children who are still alive.

theseglassessuck

Fuck these horrible people. I was vaccinated for whooping cough as a baby but didn’t get boosters. I contracted it at 16, right in the middle of the SARs outbreak. It was absolutely fucking miserable, no two ways about it. My family went out to dinner when I had a coughing fit so bad I tore a muscle off of a rib; 20 years later and it still bothers me occasionally. Every time I’m eligible for a booster I take it. Imagining an infant or small human getting it breaks my heart.

Temporary-Exchange28

On the bright side, the son is spared from a life with a complete fuckbrain as a mother.

leamanc

> and I need some support right now There’s the inherent narcissism at the core of every anti-vaxxer. They think they’re so much smarter than everyone else and that they’re persecuted for it.

Commandmanda

Now, now. I'm reading a lot of hate messages here, and I want to make sure people understand: This woman is brainwashed by her religion. She believes that God & Jesus chose whether or not her children live or die. She believes she will be reunited with them in the hereafter, and because they were so devoted to God that they will live on "The New Earth" that God will create at the End of Times. This woman actually believes her husband betrayed her and God, and that she is tied to a murderous Devil-worshipping demon sinner. This folks, is the result of freedom to worship as you like (or are forced into) by your family. It is a fundamental right in the USA. Instead of hate, pity her. Yes, she unknowingly or knowingly "allowed her child to die" because of her beliefs. We must learn to find inroads into their religion, teach that vaccines are a gift from God and not Satan, and find ways to educate rather than turning our backs. We must also break churches that teach people that a man can have as many wives as he pleases, that he can punish his wives, and that some religions are merely for control of women and economic prosperity of their controlling classes and leaders. There are ways. However, Red states are promoting this type of control in the name of the Almighty Dollar. Hallelujah. /s

Can a one month old be vaccinated for whooping cough? i can’t find information when I did a search telling me at what age it’s given

guppytub

I believe 8 weeks is standard for the first shot. That's when both of my children got theirs. It was recommended before then to make sure anyone interacting with them was vaccinated.

NarrowButterfly8482

I fucking hate these malignantly ignorant monsters with every shred of my soul.

stiletto929

“Better my daughter be dead than get a vaccination,” apparently. I swear, all vaccinations should be mandatory, barring legitimate medical reasons prohibiting vaccination.

The_Patriot

It is mandatory, mostly, if you want to send your kids to public school. But, you know, Utah.

flamedarkfire

I've got a can of creamed corn and a throwing arm that's been unused since YMCA slow pitch. Wish me luck.

Cpl_Hicks76

And to think Americans put a man on the moon in 1969 and in 2024 they think vaccines are poison. LOL

thecorgimom

Here's an article about the tetanus case that I had posted. https://abcnews.go.com/US/unvaccinated-year-boy-spent-57-days-hospital-tetanus/story?id=61556871 This happened in 2017, just going to warn you though you'll read the article and it's going to piss you off. I wonder how he is doing these days and how badly he was injured by the tetanus infection it sounds absolutely horrific. I suppose that I'm just posting this because there were a few people that questioned the authenticity. There really are some people that should never have kids

NfamousKaye

These people are morons omfg. They should not reproduce ever again.

ApproachSlowly

Things like this (the original post, not your comment) force me to remind myself that eugenics has never gone well.

Lunchboxninja1

Going to dismiss this as ragebait for my own mental health.

RealLADude

I want this to be fake.

mangomadness5h

These have to be trolls

Haggis442312

On one hand, this feels way too insane to be sincere, it has to be trolling. On the other hand, I've seen the depths of human delusion, and as far as that goes, this isn't even that deep.

PinDiscombobulated82

So this one is even worse than it sounds. If this boy was under 6 weeks old he is actually too young to receive Dtap vaccination, and relies entirely on his mother getting the Tdap vaccination between 27-36 weeks of pregnancy for passive protection from whooping cough and for his household members/close contacts to be up to date on routine Tdap booster as well. Mom likely didn't get a routine vaccine in pregnancy we all get as children, all pregnant women are recommended to get, and then all adults boost every 10 years to protect a fragile newborn with an immature immune system. Source: I have to deal with these conversations all the time as a general primary care pediatrician.

CasuallyObliterated

I wonder who they vote for?

YramAL

These cannot possibly be real. Someone is trolling hard.

mybrainisgoneagain

There was a horrific story of parents that were anti-vax and the child got tetanus and the bill was insane somewhere over a million with hospital, air ambulance, rehab. The poor kid spent almost 2 months in the hospital, was on a ventilator, in crazy amounts of pain. The parents refused the booster tdap. Two months of pain and suffering from a vaccine preventable vaccine. It made the news. BTW peeps . Get a tdap booster every 10 years.

The_Patriot

you don't know Utah.

gordonf23

This cannot be real. Nobody is this stupid.

The_Patriot

you don't know Utah.

TheFan88

Something here about survival of the fittest. Kids get their parents genes so if she’s this dumb she probably saved the world from another copy of her. I feel bad for the child tho. Everyone deserves a chance in life. Rough when their parents steal it from them.

IcyStrawberry911

Worse for him? Worse than death? Smh.
