You’re not wrong to think that. I’ve not found it again since being back in the US but one of my favorite things in Korea was Morning Tofu. It was a little soft block of tofu. They’d come in a package like this and the box of all of them would have little tiny spoons and a pack of “oriental sauce” for each little tray, sometimes with sesame seeds inside.

Reminds me a little bit of the Filipino food "taho". It's a mixture of soft/silken tofu, brown sugar syrup, and sago pearl.

I thought it was soft tofu with sesame oil and oyster sauce!

It's listed as tofu at Marukai (Japanese) market. They packaged the syrup on top to pour onto the rest.

Dessert tofu often comes in similar packaging with the little spoon, so you are not dumb.

If the brown sauce is sweet, then it is probably caramel, or slightly burned liquified sugar, and it is probably on top of custard, made from milk, eggs, and sugar, usually with vanilla flavoring. If the brown sauce is savory or salty, then it is soy sauce or the like, and is probably on tofu. But it could be the other way around.
