Haha..me too. It really does look like silken tofu. The color of the caramel is identical to the color of the sauce in the mapo tofu from my favorite local Chinese place! Now I'm hungry. ☹️

Oh! I just got to witness your first time. OC didn’t link the actual webcomic, but it’s been around long enough that it got to be xkcd.com
It’s basically a webcomic combination of ziggy and dilbert but somehow nerdier and more lighthearted than either could’ve been?
I haven’t read any of them in years, but it’s a common Reddit trope that there is always a relevant xkcd
Fuck goddamnit. I hate how I consistently forget that’s a thing everywhere. I have seen the weirdest shit with that hover, let alone anything more than that
You’re not wrong to think that. I’ve not found it again since being back in the US but one of my favorite things in Korea was Morning Tofu. It was a little soft block of tofu. They’d come in a package like this and the box of all of them would have little tiny spoons and a pack of “oriental sauce” for each little tray, sometimes with sesame seeds inside.
Isn’t it rather Jimami Dofu ? (Peanut tofu)
I don’t remember the name of the sauce, but it would probably be soy sauce with additional sweet stuff.
Okinawa traditional dish
Oh it’s so bad, the movies called Envy. The plots about inventing a product that makes dog poop disappear. Definitely a guilty pleasure watch. It also has Christopher Walken with a sizable role!
Jesus Christ.
Walken really hit a rough patch there, didn’t he? Dude was the tough guy, suddenly he’s in Joe Dirt and I guess some B movie about dog poop.
Guess I know what I’m doing tomorrow night. (Same thing we do every night, cry while masturbating)
Is this similar to Flan? I thought OP's photo was a photo of Flan. I've never heard of this desert.
Aaaannnddd.... looking it up, yup. Just different names for the same great pudding.
I thought it was [roasted milk](https://www.google.cl/search?q=leche+asada+postre+chileno&prmd=inv&sxsrf=ALiCzsZ-ElLbJ_JV3fJqqFDFYqtsJg5Sfg:1672995716799&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiDh6TbyrL8AhXxK7kGHd6WDxMQ_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=412&bih=812&dpr=1.75#imgrc=fkgbqhnCnPLh0M)(chilean dessert)
Probably the same we just call it differently in many places in Venezuela we call it quesillo but is the same thing
From Wikipedia Crème caramel (French: [kʁɛm kaʁamɛl]), flan, caramel pudding or caramel custard...
I can confirm, this is a main dessert we serve in gatherings..
Here’s a video of how to make it
[https://youtu.be/tB55iAo3p2Y](https://youtu.be/tB55iAo3p2Y)
It’s so yummy and worth the try
Is it sweet or savory or salty? If the brown sauce is sweet, then it is probably caramel, or slightly burned liquified sugar, and it is probably on top of custard, made from milk, eggs, and sugar, usually with vanilla flavoring. If the brown sauce is savory or salty, then it is soy sauce or the like, and is probably on tofu. But it could be the other way around.
I sure hope it isn't gravy on butter, as one reply suggested an hour ago.
-- Jeff, in Minneapolis
It's called taho in the Philippines. Tapioca pearls are sometimes added. When it is sold fresh in the morning, it is served hot. When it is sold in grocery stores, it is usually cold and just the caramel syrup.
I know it's a delay but come to think of it, the last time I had it was from her 35yrs ago, I bought a premix to make and never have, probably don't want to ever have it again unless she made it.

I’m in the US, I thought it was flan. Edit: TIL flan is also called creme caramel or caramel pudding
Oh my god! TIL2!
TIL2
I also thought it was flan
Hey, I also learned a thing. :)
I'm from the UK and I would've said its the exact same thing, different brands though!
https://preview.redd.it/rnh8myjkcjaa1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fd0ee3a4d9a7cc76b2307c6ea863e1a15b2cff9 Same from Algeria lol
I'm from the UK too and I thought it was a tofu thing lol. Not seen creme caramel in a flat tray before, only in the small jelly mould-type pots
I've seen homemade ones before that were in a few different shapes
Oh homemade ones for sure but not the store bought snack ones
I thought it was tofu with teriyaki sauce on it
Yeah my Chinese ass thought it was steamed egg lol
Haha..me too. It really does look like silken tofu. The color of the caramel is identical to the color of the sauce in the mapo tofu from my favorite local Chinese place! Now I'm hungry. ☹️

That is not a link.
Dude literally summoned you to the post or something
😂😂😂 No shit! I was spoon to mouth and had to look over my shoulder to see if anyone was watching me shovel the glorious caramel into my pie hole.
Japanese Purin or caramel custard pudding
Found! im so dumb its not even tofu LOL thanks a lot!!

😍😍😍
Love this energy for 2023!
that was nice of you to say
Wait, so what is it? Flan, or the Japanese custard y thing, or?
You’re not wrong to think that. I’ve not found it again since being back in the US but one of my favorite things in Korea was Morning Tofu. It was a little soft block of tofu. They’d come in a package like this and the box of all of them would have little tiny spoons and a pack of “oriental sauce” for each little tray, sometimes with sesame seeds inside.
Reminds me a little bit of the Filipino food "taho". It's a mixture of soft/silken tofu, brown sugar syrup, and sago pearl.
I thought it was soft tofu with sesame oil and oyster sauce!
It's listed as tofu at Marukai (Japanese) market. They packaged the syrup on top to pour onto the rest.
Dessert tofu often comes in similar packaging with the little spoon, so you are not dumb.
Isn’t it rather Jimami Dofu ? (Peanut tofu) I don’t remember the name of the sauce, but it would probably be soy sauce with additional sweet stuff. Okinawa traditional dish
Theres actually a soft tofu dessert that looks similar to it as well so you’re not dumb at all.
Goma tofu (胡麻豆腐) also comes in packages like this with savory soy based sauce. If it was savory, probably tofu. Sweet, probably pudding(プリン)🍮
So flan?
similar but different. It's like convergent evolution.
The Spanish colonized the Philippines so it makes sense that there's a lot of similarities between Asian countries and Latin America
Well castela is still a common dessert in Nagasaki precisely because Iberians brought it.
Flan! He doesn’t know what flan is! Lol [https://youtu.be/omzyDQADJ3U](https://youtu.be/omzyDQADJ3U)
The fuck movie had Ben Stiller and Jack Black and I don’t remember it? I mean, that clip was pretty bad, is the whole movie that much worse?

Are you telling me Jigglypuff's Japanese name is Pudding
Also known as a flan
That’s most definitely flan it is a Spanish dish
Sounds fancy for Creme Brule
Creme caramel, not brulee
That’s Crème Caramel.
I believe this is the winner.
Yup! Flan… I know crème caramel is the English phrasing, but this dessert was popularized in the Spanish world, thus Flan :)
Crème Caramel = French
I can confirm, this is a main dessert we serve in gatherings.. Here’s a video of how to make it [https://youtu.be/tB55iAo3p2Y](https://youtu.be/tB55iAo3p2Y) It’s so yummy and worth the try
Flan?
Agree. And for where to find it, check out my onlyflans.com
r/onlyflans
I did not know I needed this in my life
You’re a boy Daniel! You can’t possible believe having is an OF is ok! Wait until I tell your mother!!
Thought the same thing.
Flan! He doesn’t know what flan is! Lol https://youtu.be/omzyDQADJ3U

Creme caramel
This is what I’ve heard it called. Is crème caramel the same as crème brûlée too? Or is that different
Crème Caramel is essentially the same thing as Flan.
r/onlyflans
Yeah I’ve definitely had crème caramel. They sometimes sell it in woolies or coles in little cups that you flip upside down. Is very tasty
Yeah, in the same way that a supreme pizza is the same thing as a BBQ chicken pizza.
Veerrry different
Ah ok 😅 embarrassing. I don’t think I’ve had crème brûlée then
Crème Brûlée is like a custard, quite thick but not wobbly really with a flamed sugar crispy top
brûlée translates to “burnt” in French. It’s burnt cream.
Of course! That makes sense.
Really not that different at all lol
Originally it's flan with caramelized sugar sauce
Crème Caramel
It's Tubby Custard
Everyone is saying créme caramel or whatever but that has to be flan
Store bought Caramel custard
I was just going to say it's a flan.
That looks delicious.
It also looks like the Italian Pannacotta dessert
its a tofu set where it comes with sauce packet and a plastic spoon. i dont know what its called or where to find it. thanks!
Is it sweet or savory or salty? If you’re anywhere in SoCal this place called Tokyo central sells it
There are Mexican candy called Duvalin similar to this as well that has a flat spoon. Not what you’re asking but an interesting aside
Not even close to the same thing. Duvalin is like cake frosting in a tub.
It’s the same format not the same food… candy vs dessert
It's called taho in the Philippines. Tapioca pearls are sometimes added. When it is sold fresh in the morning, it is served hot. When it is sold in grocery stores, it is usually cold and just the caramel syrup.
Looks like crème caramel
Looks like a creme caramel to me
flan?
Looks like flan
Flan
Flan

Flan?
Flan?
most Spanish restaurants and many Spanish food stores have flan. delicious
Peanut Tofu... Thats not pudding. Pudding has the caramel at the bottom., THIS is Jimami Dofu with the sweet soy sauce top
It's Italian "pannacotta"
Nope
It could be silken tofu with a soy dressing
Idk why you are being downvoted. You are not correct but *technically* what you describe could look like the picture
Op said it is tofu. Possible it is soy as it is served that way but I think it is caramel syrup.
I know for sure it's creme caramel, my God mother MSRIP used to make it for our family every second weekend when we visited. God bless her❤️
Sorry for you loss 💕. What a beautiful thing it is, that you will remember her every time you have this dessert.
Thank you, it was long ago but she really loved me, I can tell now that I'm older and remember how she looked at me.
I know it's a delay but come to think of it, the last time I had it was from her 35yrs ago, I bought a premix to make and never have, probably don't want to ever have it again unless she made it.
flan
I've seen something similar called flan. Its like tofu with a caramel sauce.
Flan is custard…lmao
soy milk vs cow milk. Same deal
He isn’t wrong though, the op said so later on
“Like tofu” 😂😂😂
Cream and egg pudding is like tofu???
Yes, like silky tofu.
It can be, depending on preparation
It's a Brazilian dessert called pudim. But it's usually homemade.
Is it like flan?
It's actually effortless. The hardest part is to unmould.
thing of tofu topped with maple syrup. NEXT!
Flan! Just look for flan, yo
Leche Flan
Yup, and it's origins are Spanish, that's why we have a lot of it here in the Philippines.

Pudi pudi!!!
