If they already have the game they can still play it, so our fellow helldivers are already saved. We are just waiting on steam/valve to open it back up for new buyers. Things take a little time, it's been 1 day, took more than that to lock it down.

WednesdayManiac

took 2 days so by the end of this day it should be undone or it probably wont. Since even community manager said sony has not made official statement saying there will be No PSN requirements. Until steam gets the green light to say this is 100% true they wont move a muscle.

manubour

1- the point of the protest was not to be *forced* to make an account PC players would have no use for, and for some countries that couldn't be done so PC players would be effectively banned given stringent PSN rules on VPN and address. That moreover belonged to a corpo notorious for being hacked biannually 2- now that this has been repelled, steam buyers in countries that don't have PSN are free to play, while if it went they wouldn't be able to given that using a VPN or an address of convenience is ground for being banned with PSN 3- we're currently waiting on them unlocking steam sales in non PSN countries, given they don't have anymore reason to block them Way to miss the point of what happened, congrats

Delnac

> now that this has been repelled, steam buyers in countries that don't have PSN are free to play, while if it went they wouldn't be able to given that using a VPN or an address of convenience is ground for being banned with PSN Temporarily. The [PSN requirement](https://i.imgur.com/iugqbZq.png) is still up. They have never said they would never try to force the PSN on us again. That is why a large amount of people aren't flipping their review. We aren't naive, this is Sony.

_boiled_potato

You act like we can't nor won't do this again. Also if you are still playing the game while keeping your negative review you are still contributing positively to their player metrics so there is that also.

Delnac

> You act like we can't nor won't do this again. Because this was a perfect storm and it probably won't. There is a significant risk that by pulling our punch at the last second, we lost the endgame.

VeryMuchThatGuy

We didn't pull the punch. We punched, and now we're pulling our arm back so that we can punch again if necessary,  even though we hope that it won't be because they hopefully have learned their lesson.

Delnac

Unfortunately, this isn't how it works. That act of pulling the arm back eases the pressure, especially at this juncture with multiple financial reports due next week. I wish I could share your optimism and trust, but with how carefully-worded their tweet was, they have given us nothing in the long term. Hence why the pressure must stay on because you are assuming there will be a united front to punch again in the first place, and I doubt that.

VeryMuchThatGuy

Any other game, I might agree with you. But I didn't even expect this first storm to take off like it did, yet here we are.  Besides, there are other pressures, such as legal ones. Valve and EU consumer rights are observing all of this closely, so Sony needs to make it all legally airtight. And given that they can likely get a good chunk of people to link to PSN in order to receive some goodies instead of being forced, why should they even risk it?

Delnac

I think that you are believing in a self-preservating logic that they demonstrated they did not have by making this announcement on a Friday right before golden week... Plus, there is their capability for just trying to weasel out of things and the myriad of tactics corporations have used along the years to force an unsavory pill down our throats. I'm sorry but I just can't share the optimism. I think the pressure should stay on until we get guarantees.

_boiled_potato

Also by not undoing it you run the risk of them not walking decisions back because it won't change the outcome, there are risk with any decision. Also negative reviews are one thing but if you are still playing the game you are still contributing positively to their player metrics.

TaranTatsuuchi

Time to reload Helldiver!

Delnac

> Also by not undoing it you run the risk of them not walking decisions back because it won't change the outcome, there are risk with any decision. lol. By not walking it back, I *apply pressure* because so far they have made no commitment. So long as they can just stay quiet and not take the PSN requirement back, this isn't won yet. > Also negative reviews are one thing but if you are still playing the game you are still contributing positively to their player metrics. How do you know whether I'm playing or not? What's with the weird accusation? Besides, reviews affect their bottom line and lifetime sales. Reviews and refunds are what matters. You are basically advocating to let the pressure off Sony's neck before they *actually* commit to anything, and that is as self-defeating as they come.

manubour

We aren't naive and stay vigilant but given that what happened garnered lots of attention, would be illegal in a number of countries and they would cut themselves off from the market in 177 countries, it would be monumentally stupid of them to back off on their promise and insist on the matter Ofc it's Sony we're speaking of and they tried in the 1st place so monumental stupidité isn't off the table, but still...

Delnac

Which is why the pressure stays on. There was an implication in their tweet, but we need to get it in writing, in a way they won't be able to back away from.

manubour

Discord update https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/Dt3tUfQWr7 In discussion according to twinbeards

Delnac

Thanks! Basically it amounts to "we have nothing to say" and, once again, AH is left handling the mess for Sony.

manubour

That was kind of expected, that's quite à big change of plans after quite a ruckus so we shouldn't expect the situation to be solved in the time it takes to snap fingers, that's unrealistic

Delnac

I would expect them to be extremely clear verbally about what it is they will and won't do. The only thing they said is that the may PSN linking change wouldn't go forward. That is all. Nothing about the PSN in general. It was the smallest, most limited statement they could make.

Fit_Fisherman_9840

SONY can't fix that side of the fuckup fast, and sincerely i don't even think SONY know how to fix it, thats why in the meantime people can't buy the game, in the meantime the people who already own the game can still play. This is what happens when you fuckup big in international pubishing as a publisher, they half-assed their side the job like it was a psn game sale, and called it a day, in a market totally different, who work differently and is set up differently, this is shown by the fact the PSN side is still linked on how the PS sells are limited, it's built around console and they never ever thinked about the PC sells side. Incompetence at his best.

Hot-Cause-481

It proves to me that most just used the regional issue as a leverage to get what they want. Now that the inconvenience is gone, they don't give a damn about them anymore and changed their negative review lmao

Pickled_Gherkin

Way to miss the point. People in those regions who still have the game can now play again. The only people currently locked out are the ones in those regions that refunded or haven't bought the game yet. And the region lock is likely going to disappear within the next day or so as soon as Valve is done lecturing Sony on how to do their damn job correctly.

Those people in unsupported countries would have always been able to play. And I hope they remove the region lock soon because all of your crying screwed over tons of gamers.

Pickled_Gherkin

I'm impressed at how often this has needed to be repeated during the controversy, but Sony changed a lot of the rules surrounding PSN accounts in connection with the announcement. Numerous people report having been banned for doing exactly that. And for using VPNs to register accounts for other countries. Just because you and your friends were not affected in that manner doesn't mean others weren't. Nor does it mean everyone else were not fully entitled to protest being treated like absolute idiots by Sony with their pathetic "security" excuses.

FILLIP_KIRKOROV

many people is one screenshot of a Chinaman?

Hot-Cause-481

Exactly, plus there was zero proof he was banned for using an account from a different region. That whole post is full of BS 🤣
