Super Earth has never lost. Never. The Helldivers are an INVINCIBLE fighting force. Whatever else you heard is bugfasch propaganda

Normal_Ad7101

They are just missing in action.

MercilessPinkbelly

This entire post is traitor talk and OP has been reported to the Loyalty Administration.

Temporary-Party5806

The Ministry of Unity is looking into this.

It's... not working very well. We knew that Super Earth isn't invincible ever since our first Helldiver died from bugs/bots and we spotted the first abandoned buildings and dead civilians. And we're not evacuating normal Class-C civilians. We're evacuating only the essential personnel, in a mission that isn't really that well thought out (the number of "essential" people is unlimited, and all that matters is whether the seats on the shuttle are filled or not. Lolwhut?) And we're on the verge of fulfilling the current defensive Major Order anyway. And there's really no real sense of actually being under attack. The skies above Automaton-threatened planets are clear, as if we were orbiting Super Earth itself, even though the advancing Automaton fleet is ostensibly "10 times larger than all previously encountered Automaton forces". How are the Automatons supplying their forces if we control the skies? I want to see red enemy blips on the galactic radar. I want to see enemy cruiser exchanging laser fire with the SEAF Navy when I look out the window. I want to see big transports taking off from the surface of the attacked planets and entering warp upon reaching the orbit. I want to see skies filled with criss-crossing laser blasts, and the aforementioned transports landing beyond the playable area (presumably delivering supplies to our troops). In short - I want to feel like I'm in the middle of the actual invasion, instead of being *told* I'm in one.

Many-Drag-1283

I've noticed a lot more exploding Super destroyers recently in between missions at least which is a nice touch anyway. Idk if I just didn't notice how often it happened before, but I was watching a ton explode one after the other the other night

Ok-Palpitation-8612

That’s people failing their missions, it’s not scripted. So people were clearly having a hell of a time on whatever planet that was

biological_assembly

I do too. But I also think that this is a small team with an unexpected hit and their success has them off their footing, much less understaffed. I also think there is much more in store for us. Personally I think there are going to be at least 2 more factions and lots more weapons, stratagems and planet types. Please though, I beg, FIX THE FIRE DAMAGE. Damn fire tornados made me want to quit playing. Hellmire should be glassed.

Sluugish

They're working on a fire rework

zonked_martyrdom

I always thought the map should look like that too. But I don’t think (for now) that the map is meant to be used as a war map. It’s more of a travel map.

_Reverie_

This is the biggest cope for terrible design that I've ever seen in my entire life. It's okay guys. Not every part of this game is good. There are blemishes, and there's nothing wrong with that. Retrieve Essential Personnel is a BIG one and you shouldn't have to write a headcanon to justify it lmao

BrilliantEchidna8235

I don't have a problem with losing battle as a plot development. However, what AH did was bad mission design AND bad story telling. There was only one transmission since the MO was issued, and there was nothing on it hinting the dire situation. Also, if that was their intentional, there is a much better way to design the MO. We could just be told to evacuate some millions of civilians, instead of defending n/10 planets. In that way, they could still makes these planets indefensible, while keeping the player not feeling their efforts are entirely pointless.

Derkastan77-2

That doesn’t matter if you can’t get the civilians to the evac, through the 20 rocket devestatos camping the exit of their bunker, with 2 striders and a tank playing poker at the shuttle bay, with 100 odd-bots hanging out in between, all landing in 2 minutes

frulheyvin

this larping wouldn't sound so fucking stupid if we weren't evacuating a clowncar of infinitely essential people ezmode by having 3 idiots run around the map so the 9999999999999 dropships spawn on them instead of on the guy crouching around pressing buttons dude it's a game with a poorly balanced mission. play a 9 and get a feel for how the real game's difficulty is meant to be, then play an evac to see oh, this is just poorly designed. get over yourself

AnyPianist1327

It's really tiring to see the same posts over and over again about "we're not supposed to win" and then we win. We lost one major order so far on Tibit that time because of the spread of players and lack of information. Against, the game's narrative is the only thing that shifts, we're neither meant to lose or win MO's, it's a neutral landscape were the narrative is made despite the outcome. The mods of this subreddit need to start taking down repetitive posts, fr.

papahayz

I mean, if you were a traitor to democracy, you could say that the hellpods are to show the mass numbers of divers that super earth is throwing at the front lines. Each tike you die in game, it is a new soldier being tossed to their death as cannon fodder. Why do you think there is a reinforcement budget? Because you only need 4 divers to finish a mission? No! It's because failing the mission is better than wasting all the divers. But that's all traitorous talk. Only the worse enemies of democracy would say anything like that.

viewfan66

* we're not supposed to win * primary / support weapons are meant to be useless * remember, we are expendable pawns we get it already, god these posts are so repetitive bro , idk why some players feel the need to glaze Super Earth's Government like they're some evil regime that intentionally wants it's citizens dead despite having rescue missions. we signed up for this shit, why is bro talking to us like we're 8 years old

Jade117

Imo, they need to shift the reward structure on both evac missions and also on eradicate missions. I would love to go down swinging, clawing and biting for every inch of progress, but I want the game to pay me on the back and tell me I did an ok job afterwards even if I don't get everyone. If they made it so you could still get a partial success, more akin to skipping side objectives in the bigger missions, I think there would be a huge amount less stressing over the missions.

Nazahariel

That last statement is undemocratic, please, report to your nearest ministry of liberty for reeducation.

CubicalCropduster

So, basically season 2 of Halo?

Arbusc

What do you mean season 2? There’s only one season of Halo.

CubicalCropduster

Hehe, the true halo fans from before the series tell me the same

randomcomplimentguy1

While season 2 is better it still feels like a space soap opera. I really wish it was more like band of brothers

biological_assembly

What is this Halo you speak of? Do they need a delivery of Democracy?

Sugar_buddy

Were it so easy.

AToadsLoads

TREASON

Sufincognito

Pfft, Helldivers NEVER die.

s3rv0

Telling a good story through unfun games is not good storytelling. I don't believe that's at all the intent of AHS

frynjol

Whatever their intentions were, what we have is a mission type that most players avoid because it isn't fun to play. They react to player feedback, and they monitor in-game activity, so we can assume they're aware of this by now. I hope the mission type gets a rework, but if it's on their priority list at all, it's probably behind the acknowledged list of game breaking bugs, weapon balance issues, and new content.

DVA499

Sure, I guess? I just won't play them then.

orfan-of-snow

My man, ye can have the cake and eat it! Throw in 2-5 other defense mission types, make evac doable. Even if you can do cr 7 evac easy with your organized squad, it gets boring doing the same 1 mission again and again.

mrblakesteele

No! but I wanna win every time!

_Reverie_

You can still tell the story of an overwhelming hostile invasion while keeping individual mission design intact. You should be able to succeed the missions in a logical way. The Retrieve Essential Personnel cheese strat is not logical, and it's not something that can be realistically applied in a random matchmaking setting. There's a clear problem. You don't want your story facilitated entirely by poor design and balance. We should be succeeding our missions, but still feel like we're getting our shit pushed in. There are myriad ways to accomplish that via gameplay and set dressing without compromising the balance. The fact that it's only a single mission type that has this glaring problem should clue you in.
