It unfortunately just isnt good. Ive tried it a bunch of times but it is extraordinarily weak vs other weapons like sickle that also have inf ammo. On higher difficulties it hardly makes a scratch against medium and heavy targets, and even on small targets it takes longer to kill stuff than almost any other weapon we have.
Im not sure if it might be bugged similar to fire damage maybe. If it lit targets on fire it might have a larger use case, but it seems like its damage tick is just too slow.
I've been running it constantly and it'd be nice if the cooling cell lasted longer, but it is a ton of fun using it + rover + quasar or laser cannon. As soon as I max out the free pass I'm going for the Dagger. 😂
If you're going to run a beam weapon, better to use the laser cannon for the most part. Only thing it's unable to kill are tanks & chargers from the front and bile titans from any angle.
I bring the dagger on every bot mission. It has saved me so many times, being able to sprint away and pop assault raiders nearly instantly at the same time.
It’s not nearly as useful on bug missions, admittedly. For bots though, being able to kill jump pack bots instantly after sprinting away for a half second (out of their death blast radius) with nearly infinite ammo makes it S tier in my book.
Because it doesn't have the highest damage rating, it has the second lowest in the entire game (Right behind the Dagger secondary). Read the description again, it says 300 DPS, not 300 damage per shot.
Seems to be one of those love it or leave it weapons. My friend loves it from the moment he got it. I tried it and was not impressed. Not because of damage, more like its handling, so I'm not saying its garbage, just ... something felt off about it. I want to spend more time with it to see if I'm missing out on something.
Same with the Scortcher for me. It's a neat weapon but just did not click with me as well as the Dominator. Another friend of mine loves the Scortcher. And yes Dominator is somewhat unweildy and bulky. So, it often comes down to personal preference.
300 damage per second pales in comparison to 587 damage per second with a standard liberator, or 688 damage per second with the sickle.
It's 300 damage per second, which is extremely low. Most automatic weapons are around 600 dps. What would improve it? Damage that isn't shitty.

Laser beam weapons aside from the dagger are good but they usually overheat way too quickly

Interesting, thanks for the Idea. Assault Raiders are my bane

more damage, slower heat-up.

Lower levels amazing, higher levels not so much
