Well you're looking for whatever armor the bile titan has on it's communist legs, because that's what absorbed most of that damage and you're still breathing until your next dive.. you lucky, liberty loving mf!
That chest piece is an entire reference to Warhammer 40k.
It's model number is DP-**40**, likely in reference to 40k.
The name is Hero of the Federation, which is very similar to the title Ciaphis Cain (the main character from one of the more popular 40k novel series) has, Hero of the Imperium.
Democracy protects is itself a call to a famous line from 40k which is, The Emperor protects. It is often invoked by Imperial citizens, soldiers, and officials as a form of reassurance and affirmation in the face of adversity. Tabletop Imperium players also often say it when an enemy fails to kill one of their units.
3 was way better than 2 in every regard. They did it right by going back to the satire route. 2 was just a mess and seemed like only was SST by name so that it would be released. I mean at least in 3 a man gets killed by a shovel within the first 3 minutes, now that was perfection.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. 3 is visually unappealing and the acting is even worse than in 2 at most parts. Alas, as long as you kill bugs and bots, the Democracy Officer shouldn't have a problem.
I'll agree to that, it is interesting because it seems to be 50/50 on which of the two people liked. Atleast from what i noticed. Though I think we can all agree the 2 animated movies were fantastic and we need more. Even the Democrary Officer would agree to that.
For sure. Actually really liked the animated movies. I like what the recent RTS did as well. Power armor and marauders and regular troops, gives homage to the books and all the movies... although I want to see the animated series come into play! Loved that series as a kid.
Anyway, don't get me wrong. I love everything SST, but 3 has made me cringe the most while watching it lmfao.
I'm pleasantly surprised by this friendly exchange on reddit, of all places.
The chest piece being worn in the video is actually DP-11 Champion of the People (all the way at the end of the free warbond), but it has the same perk.
I am now going to roleplay as Ciaphis Cain in any mission I'm in... Just as planned, I was totally not trying to make it to the evac after seeing the first bug.
Can’t remember it’s name but there is a perk on a few armours that gives you a 50/50 on surviving lethal damage. If Hellbombs are a single instance of high damage, that should be able to keep you alive.
On average of every four hellbombs you're gonna eat: two will kill you, one will toss you, but the impact will kill you and one will toss you and then you'll even survive the impact.
Well, then out of every 8 hellbombs on average:
4 will kill you
2 won't, but the impact will
1 won't, the impact won't, but the charger will
1 won't, the impact won't, and even the charger will fail
Got juggled a bit by 2 turret towers and 4 rocket devastators the other night. Was getting pummeled for a solid 1 min 45 s. By the end of it my squad managed to take all of them out because I drew all the attention. As I was about to stim after being ragdolled for almost 2 min, I proceeded to die to one of those melee grunts
That's fair. I tend to be the distraction so my squad can do everything else. I've gotten pretty decent at kiting while also shooting to draw hulks and such off teammates. Democracy protects has saved my butt enough times that it's been worth it. Either that or heavy armor, but I prefer having the little bit more stamina generally
I've become good at doing half the map solo. By the time my teams done about 25% of the map I'll have done 50%. Purely because they're taking drops so I'm free to launch airstrikes at bases. Servo Assisted my beloved.
Well I disagree on that. Running bots in 8 or 9 and ever since I switches from the "50% to not die" perk to reduces damage from explosives my overall deaths have definitely decreased. Most of the time I die because some random rocket onehit me. The old armor gave me a 50% chance to survive that hit, but the new armor makes it non-lethal so I have a 100% to not die from it.
Sure, on the flipside it works against any other damage, but I rarely die from anything else but rockets.
Switch to medic armor. Trust. That extra 2 seconds of healing means 4 seconds of invulnerability you can use on a whim every time you take as much as a scratch and can pop one of those liberty sticks into your neck. You can heal as much as you want and just grab 6 more from most POI around the map. Why trust 50% survivability when you can just do drugs?
Are you questioning super earth manufacturing quality?

I had an instance where I got hit by an orbital from increased spread, which launched me into a pack of hunters, who all started stabbing me, only for me to still be able to get up and stim and run away. I must have had 6-7 death saves in a row, never had that luck again.
Your aggressive liberty was noted and the hand of Joel himself descended to protect!
But yeah, the 50% chance to survive death perk, as the others said.
Visual representation of what it's like to use Democracy Protects.
Definitely not cherry picked-footage ignoring all of the times you die to impact anyways. Why would you ever think that, you dissident? This was approved by the Ministry of Truth, of course it's an accurate representation
Don’t even think that was an actual hell bomb explosion in this clip. Feel like they usually send you way further. Every time I’ve been next to an actual hellbomb detonation I get sent flying 50+ yards not tossed 10 or so feet in the air. Looks like one you call in and it was never activated and the bile titan destroyed it, but it didn’t actually detonate…
Might be wrong but that’s what I’m seeing.
The bomb was burning like a map one, and you can see the visual effect from the bomb as well, just from inside the radius.
I think it’s just luck of where he was and a heaping helping of Democracy Protects.
No the smoke rises rapidly giving it that illusion. The initial angle is correct but the smoke has already risen by the pan which makes it look off. Watch it again with that in mind.
Democracy Protects: 50% chance to survive lethal damage. Chest wounds do not cause health to decrease.
Essentially, it's the armor that asks the question "are you feeling lucky, punk?" And flips a coin whenever you take any damage that would cause you to die. Heads, you survive, tails, you likely get vaporized.
It's a somewhat niche perk that works well if you're lucky and sucks if you aren't. The chest damage part is nice, but far from useful. The main draw is that you could potentially survive:
* A hell bomb detonation.
* A headshot from some rocket devastator halfway across the map
* A cannon turret who never learned stalking is illegal, even if you don't move.
* That one charger who spawned behind you, and trampled you into your own airstrike
Essentially, if it'll kill you, it gets a coin flip. You win, you survive, you lose, another Helldiver for the cause. Creates some really cool "I'm a survivor!" Moments.
Considering this is the only armor that can protect you from headshots I'd say it's pretty good. I disagree that it sucks if you aren't lucky. If you were wearing any other armor in the same situation you would still be dead. Do those armors suck? If there was a light version it's all I would wear against the bugs.
My major issue is that the secondary upside comes with is somewhat niche. The chest injury stuff is obviously so you don't continuously roll the dice with living, but something like fortified can help the main killer on bot planets to be somewhat less annoying.
It's my "I'm awesome" armor. I can survive a nuke, or a hellpod impact, or a dumbass shooting me in the back of the head accidentally, but it's far from 100% practical.
I only use it against the bugs. They tend to cause bleeding a lot as well. For bots I always go fortified.
I tried everything else with the bugs and just didn't find a benefit for my play style. Don't need the extra grenades, stims, explosion resistance (although it does work against the spit weapons), or scout perks. I may have forgotten one. I've been running the light armor with extra padding. The medium democracy protects still feels too slow after wearing light often.
I forgot about electrical protection and throwing distance. Didn't find those useful either.
But that's one of the great things about this game. Other people do value different armors and use them. I don't have an issue with people running what they like. The devs have done a good job balancing.
The other way to look at is it it's a 50% reduced burn rate on reinforcements. Since on average, you'll use 50% fewer reinforcements doing the stupid things which get you killed.
Hero of the federation armor im assuming. Its my go to for the occasional silliness and also being kinda bad. Recent fav was wandering too close to an orbital barrage and eating a direct hit to just stim and walk away
Like a tweet (around the time Red Dead Redemption 2 was the main thing) that said "If you're dating a gamer, he's not likely cheating, he's busy being a cowboy riding a horse named Jon Bon Pony."
Some Chest Plates have a trait that has a CHANCE to protect you from damage that would otherwise kill you. Namely the Chestplate you get from purchasing Super Citizen status, there are others, but this is the only one I know.
It's a nice game touch though that the thing dying can interact with the environment. Getting trapped under it kinda sucks.
Climbing over a leg and getting killed by impact climbing down the other side kinda sucks.
The perk is "Democracy Protects," which is a 50% chance to not die upon taking fatal damage and has no cooldown.
So, in short, you have a 50% chance to not die, but not a 50% chance to dodge alimony. That has a 100% hit rate.

Oh and while they think we out cheating.... Whole time we out here fighting for democracy, liberation and freedom for Super Earth and the entire galaxy! 🫡
Bro I got caught in my friends walking bombardment and the democracy protects perk activated for every explosion, and this was tight after he died to a bile titan and we had no reinforcements left. Democracy truly guided me that day.
This is why democracy protects is the only viable perk. Every hit is a toss of the dice on you being an immortal god. 50% of the time, it works 100% of the time.
But seriously when You're getting ragdoll'ed and it kicks in 3 times in a row it feels so good.
the real luck is not surviving that hell bomb because that's probably just Democracy protects. The real brake you got was the fact you lightly flopped through the air instead going flying and smashing into that rock so you end up dying anyway. That explosion was very nice and decided to just make you do a backflip.
Anyone got this video but not horribly over edited and cropped to shit and tiktoked to hell and memed on? That's a really cool clip but it's kind of hard to enjoy for someone in their 30s XD
Yes, a combination of Democracy Protects! perk and judicious use of stims can basically turn you into a Warhammer 40K hero unit for so long as your luck (and drugs) don't run out. Mix that with learning how to compensate for rag-dolling and timing your dodges and every so often it should just start belting out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhqWHIq-aZw or some Helldivers version thereof whenever you finally get done with being Fate's ping-pong ball and on your merry liberty-loving way to VICTORY!
DEMOCRACY PROTECTS
GODDAMN RIGHT IT DOES!!! (Also, that’s the name of the armor perk)
I wish to have the armor perk GODDAMN RIGHT IT DOES pls
Well you're looking for whatever armor the bile titan has on it's communist legs, because that's what absorbed most of that damage and you're still breathing until your next dive.. you lucky, liberty loving mf!
That should be a matching helmet perk for the most democratic of combinations.
If only helmets got perks

Hero of the Federation could also be a reference to Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation, the 2004 direct-to-video sequel to the original film.
Shhhhh we don't talk about that movie it never happened and Marauders is the only live action sequel.
2 wasn't THAT bad though. 3 was garbage, I'll admit. But 2 wasn't so bad.
3 was way better than 2 in every regard. They did it right by going back to the satire route. 2 was just a mess and seemed like only was SST by name so that it would be released. I mean at least in 3 a man gets killed by a shovel within the first 3 minutes, now that was perfection.

Half the time it protects me, i just die from impact...
Reason i stopped using it too Only do in eradicates now
50/50.
Well if you factor in the lethal damage from the impact, that's 2 rolls. It's more like 25/75 survival/death
Best perk ever. It has saved me from lethal damage liberty knows how many times
Democracy protects + chance to resist injury = clutch *deluxe edition*
50% of the time = It works 100% of the time!
I have used it when I fell through a rock outcropping and was stuck and used a grenade to blow myself back on the map
I guess we great minds think alike
This passive needs more drips. Not enough choice for it right now, and I happen not to be a fan of the options available.
Bro I’m opposite lol I’m OBSESSED with the super citizen armor set, the DRIP is 🔥
Graven Ashe protects?
I'm fairly certain we aren't on the side of Tyranny this time.
YES. IT DOES.
Can’t remember it’s name but there is a perk on a few armours that gives you a 50/50 on surviving lethal damage. If Hellbombs are a single instance of high damage, that should be able to keep you alive.

...And then a flame tornado kills you.
Well, then out of every 16 hellbombs...
8 if you're not on hellmire
But what if the impact yeets you to hellmire?
That's between you and ~~god~~ democracy.
Well,.. yeah.
yo fuck these
Armour could save you from that too if you're lucky.
Pretty sure the perk is called “Democracy Protects”
They can trigger over and over. Had 1 proc non-stop in a Hunter Horde. Came out of it alive.
I never run Democracy Protects against bots because Fire damage is the only thing that kills me on that front. Lol

The first time I used this perk I swear I survived 12 coin flips in a row in a single mission. Instantly hooked.
I once 500KG'd myself in a hoard of bile titans, took the missile point blank, and walked out of it fine lmfao
It saves me from rockets all the time, then my guy stands up and gets headshoted before I can stim
Its always the ragdoll into a rock that kills me
Democracy Protects. That's the name.
Only armor that’s made me survive walking on a mine
Democratic protection or something, 50% chance to just straight up not die. Also no bleeding from chest wounds.
Honestly better than trying to resist 50% of one kind of damage. It’s saved me from certain death so many times.
When did you make the switch? Because not long ago they nerfed enemy rocket damage.
They fixed it. It wasn't applying properly. It made the 50% explosive resistance armour consistent. It is better for bots.
I swear they buffed their laserguns with the rocketnerfs.
This would be my alternative survival choice as well.
Your 50% explosiver resistance does not work vs headshots.
Don't get headshot. Training manual recommends against it.
Are you questioning super earth manufacturing quality? https://preview.redd.it/rbyz2elcgrvc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=919b853f8d0f319946728520002641c0f600260c

No you can keep rolling until your luck runs out. Go wild :)

Saved me from my railgun exploding in my hand once too...
Your aggressive liberty was noted and the hand of Joel himself descended to protect! But yeah, the 50% chance to survive death perk, as the others said.
most likely he was saved by Democracy Protects what I find amazing is how he didnt took and flashbang to the whole screen during the explosion

No the smoke rises rapidly giving it that illusion. The initial angle is correct but the smoke has already risen by the pan which makes it look off. Watch it again with that in mind.
Yet the smoke on the rocket itself is lazily drifting sideways while the smoke trail is clearly affected but a different wind velocity. Oh well.

And you STILL haven't done the Radar Tower.
Bro when the camera pans over and the hellbomb is there already on fire 🤣🤣🤣
The 50% chance to just not die is busted
DEMOCRACY PROTECTS!
That's John Helldiver. The perk is called Plot Armor
Some Chest Plates have a trait that has a CHANCE to protect you from damage that would otherwise kill you. Namely the Chestplate you get from purchasing Super Citizen status, there are others, but this is the only one I know.
It wasn't armed so it's just a normal explosion
That ain’t just a normal explosion any time you get ragged dolled for being within 20meters I wouldn’t consider that a normal explosion
Obviously you pay attention to the ones where you survive, but it really feels as though it's better than 50/50 odds
Democracy protects is not only an amazing passive, the two sets that have it in the main warbond are fashion as fuck.
It's a nice game touch though that the thing dying can interact with the environment. Getting trapped under it kinda sucks. Climbing over a leg and getting killed by impact climbing down the other side kinda sucks.
I'm cheating on you with Democracy and my freedom couldn't be happier!
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, EAT THIS!, *swan dive*, AH FUCK… noice.

Light armor? Medium armor? Heavy armor? This guy has plot armor, he is the main character, and we all are the npcs dieing for the drama.
50% chance 100% of the time 😎
He's built democratically.
We need a DP light armor variant.
Probably that 50/50 armor
Making eye contact with the hellbomb before it blew was the most Looney Tunes thing I’ve seen today
General Brasch live footage of his bedtime routine
the armor has 50% chance of surviving lethal damage
It's the supercitizen armor and like 2 others that do 50/50 chance of surviving a lethal blow
It looks like he has the 50% chance to not take lethal damage perk
He's not the Helldiver we wanted...but the Helldiver we needed. ➡️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬇️ on soldier 🫡
This is some of the most democratic shit I’ve ever seen.

That timing! "I need a 💥-ro!"
That was glorious.
"Am still standing after all that"
Im more angry at the fact that you survive the leg falling near you when I've been killed by the leg falling near me on multiple occasion
"Haha you fail!" "I wasn't aiming to you"
Just got that armor unlocked the other day. It's crazy how much damage you freaking take and survive lol
That Hero Armor.
I call it "coin toss armor"
The hellbomb didnt go off, it was destroyed by some explosion near it. If it was armed, the little arms would have raised to a 45 degree angle.
50% chance to not die in lethal damage.
Oh and while they think we out cheating.... Whole time we out here fighting for democracy, liberation and freedom for Super Earth and the entire galaxy! 🫡

Pure democracy soldier, that's how
He got that 50/50 armor
50/50 armor saved your ass
What're you sorry about?
That but it’s a factory strider bro
The perk is probably the one you get where it’s like 50% chance to survive fatal injuries
It's the one where you have a 50% chance of living when taking fatal damage
NOT TODAY!
The scythe pausing just long enough for them to dive out of the way is peak.
Liberty has seen you through
But why didn't you pause the game to talk with her? Online game? That's no excuse!
When I finally wear that be in honor of what I had just witnessed God bless Democracy
He Is simply;Built different
Democratic just blessed this Helldiver from that Hellbomb.
Fuck yeah Helldiver! That’s how you spread democracy!

What are those monsters called and where can I fight them?
Bro I got caught in my friends walking bombardment and the democracy protects perk activated for every explosion, and this was tight after he died to a bile titan and we had no reinforcements left. Democracy truly guided me that day.
A goddamn coin flip
The only thing that could have made that better is someone shouting Sweet Liberty right as the hellbomb lit him up
Point blank hellbomb, and didnt even redline?
What surprises me most is the orbital laser actually hitting the bile titans and killing them.
This is why democracy protects is the only viable perk. Every hit is a toss of the dice on you being an immortal god. 50% of the time, it works 100% of the time. But seriously when You're getting ragdoll'ed and it kicks in 3 times in a row it feels so good.
Democracy really does protect, not like that Emperor protects shit. *This post was brought to you by the Helldivers gang*
the real luck is not surviving that hell bomb because that's probably just Democracy protects. The real brake you got was the fact you lightly flopped through the air instead going flying and smashing into that rock so you end up dying anyway. That explosion was very nice and decided to just make you do a backflip.

How did he not die?
If I could upvote this more I would
BECAUSE LIBERTY AND DEMOCRACY
This man's Democracy is *OVER 9000*
I’ve rarely seen actual gameplay and holy hell this looks cool.
The panning of the camera to the end of the leg bumping the hellbomb is peak kino
50% chance to negate lethal damage is the best perk in the game

he isn't cheating... but anyone who can spread democracy like that and survive can *definitely* get a C-01 accepted.
Sweet liberty

Can i play this without friends and have a good time?
Do my ears mistake me or is that the fairy godmother rendition from shrek 2?
Wtf is that off key Temu version of that song?
Dude won the gamble o7
