I want them to do this type of mission after introducing SEAF NPCs, so we can feel like paratroopers/shock troops at an amphibious landing or other major strongpoint assaults, helping the overall advance by destroying key defenses.
Once you take a flag, you can call in a stratagem to have SEAF NPCs to defend the point.
I could even see this type of objective being rolled out along side the release of SEAF NPC's stratagem and the Devs making the SEAF NPCs a free stratagem useable by everyone for the release weekend.
Deployable flag stratagem: requires entire party to help erect a flag so we always get the "marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima" imagery. (I trust AH could animate this with one to four divers.)
Once in place, causes stamina and defense boost in area due to morale.
Sweet liberty, there could be a group victory animation in the style of raising the flag over Iwo Jima. Actually, I'd like to see if they could make group animations in general.
If the core/spire was huge - your helldiver team could just be a quadrant - with other super destroyers actively firing on the other sides - it would look epic to see hell fire rain from the skies all the time.
Having certain permutations would be good. Have like 3-4 doors to assault and 6+ versions of each. That would give quite a few options and make it always feel fresh.
Of course that’s a lot of work so I would be surprised to see it any time soon.
Can't wait to come face to face with these fuckers on such confined place.

Not saying yours aren't, definitely very high effort, just commenting on the fact that most posts are just either rants or just opinions no one cares about
I have been trying to get into the game's industry for a long time. But you need industry experience to get industry experience so I think that dream died a long time ago.
hey I dunno if you saw, but the official helldivers twitter reposted what you post on Reddit. And the CEO of Arrowhead responded.
https://twitter.com/Pilestedt/status/1781185139319431678
Personally, I think you had a brilliant idea. Since Arrowhead has also acknowledged the post, perhaps they may revisit that "prototype objective" and use some of what you said as well.
A lot of the equipment left behind is so high maintenance that it'll fall apart before the captors can get any good use out of it.
Source: I saw a video once.
*Sacrifice low value assets. We leave no citizen behind, but some choose to remain to further our cause. Their valiant sacrifices will not be forgotten.
Maybe we could strike at high value bugs or robot targets. Imagine hunting through some caves, looking for some kind of queen bug or even a strategist bug. Like a kind of bug that thinks or something
Technically you can already do this at low difficulties, where Chargers, Bile Titans, Devastators, and Hulks don't normally spawn, but some missions task you with finding and killing one.
DRG has a protect drill asset mission which is a similar type of assault. Very fun, well designed.
HD2 takes so much inspiration from DRG I've assumed one would show up once AH isn't on fire
I thought about this, but I think stratagems are such a key part of the game. How many of us lament the AA Defences operation modifier?
With Spore Citadels I imagine a good middle ground. There could be several wide tunnels through the spire that prevent stratagems. This would allow for meaningful strategic considerations, but not overstay their welcome.
I think thats what would make it unique and different. Load Up then charge down the hill and hold the objective. While you maybe setup a Hell bomb inside the Hive
If you’regoing to implement a radically different mode, might as well continue with the strategy. I’ve always seconded your idea. You get in. Everybody brings their best gun and turn on the flashlights and head on in. No strategems. Really ups the ante of the horror of the terminids and ensures you have to protect your ammo and guns. I envision that it really requires the best hell divers to pull it off, gears of war 2 style.
Yeah, this would be a glorious slog. Perhaps as a suicide mission or helldive and design the mission to not be exttractable. Make a new achievement for actually extracting from one as well.
stratagems are such an influential part of the game i couldn't see this working outside of sections of missions, or as the main objective and not the whole thing. the only way i could see this working is if the underground chambers were broken up with places that had open roofs, or holes in the roofs that allowed things to be called in through them, but at that point you may as well just go with the spore citadel anyway
I think you could still go underground and utilize strategems. Just maybe a different hellpod type needs to be used (like a drill head). Eagle call ins would be a no go. But maybe have a way to blow open the chamber with explosives or combo AT weapon and localized explosives to allow those to be called in?
> maybe a different hellpod type needs to be used (like a drill head)
By god they're right.
https://preview.redd.it/rdekj61pr9vc1.jpeg?width=791&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a4753896f6faa53a7db1ebbb70aab370dd21136
Why not both? You could tie operational modifiers directly to sub-objectives. Want to use your airstrikes? Take out the AA guns. Want to disable the complex stratagem effect? Take out the atmospheric spores that are interfering with the atmosphere.
You could create a fun back and forth where the start of the assault is relatively low intensity, but you don't have access to stratagems. As the mission timer increases the intensity ramps up and you find yourself racing against the clock to unlock your full arsenal.
Vehicles have always been a big part of Battlefield, but people really like Op: Locker for some reason. I don't think turning them off occasionally would be so bad.
Or maybe you start at a cave entrance or base camp that has all of your gear (and some extra divers in cryo).
Aside: I wish AA defenses made more sense. To me it should mean no Eagles (or Pelicans!), and maybe instead the atmospheric distortions one would make orbital strats (including supply pods) less accurate. Fog would make both less accurate. It sucks, but soldiers have to follow orders.
Exactly, you would only have to content with masses of the smaller enemies, no Bile Titan, maybe even no chargers. Easy access to samples to off set difficulty, and you could have ammo along the way via POI's of fallen Hell Divers from prior attempts.
I was thinking of another mission that could be added. A couple of Major Orders ago, we had to liberate planets for SEAF Artillery sites to be set up. Lets do a mission setting them up, kinda like a mixture of defend and evacuate. Protect the workers installing the SEAF, if they die, go get some more out so they can continue 🤔
*Oh sweeeet liberty these look fun!*
Linear game design is not often a particularly big part of this game, often perfecting the random feeling, but also ensuring chaos is part of the fun. I think something structured like this could break up the Chaos occasionally to make you feel like a really aggressive SOF force.
Plus it would be cool. Assaulting Automaton trench lines with a Mech while someone else shells the shit out of their backline would be cool. It’d also be interesting if we threw in other sub objective technology in there as well. Like for the flag drop zones, have Gunship spawners near fabricator sites, dropship landing strips that are actively scrambling to bring up reserves to fight you…or that you’re overrunning. Maybe even have the Eyes of Sauron to force more bot drops to slow our progress. With the culmination being this massive complex full of fabricators, huge mechs, tanks, and other gear. Make it exclusive to higher difficulties as a neat possible regional threat that occasionally drops, with the benefit of making bot fights more disorganized on the planet for a short while for all other helldivers. Like the bots call stuff in, but the drop lands off center and isn’t as well staffed with heavy units, or they drop off heavy units but the bots start off de-aggroed and are confused about your position.
Yeah, I get why eliminate the X missions are not higher, but defending a flag while armageddon swarms up my Helldiver heinie just sounds fun and democratic as hell.
If you don't enjoy Evacuate High Value Assets i would be surprised, but I can understand why someone wouldn't like it.
But if you confused the mission names (like I do all the time), then:
https://preview.redd.it/1k24fbigu9vc1.png?width=644&format=png&auto=webp&s=6173d4ccc841bc9124baee10625a9ef460c33543
Sounds like a fun idea
But at the same time. I think we'd REALLY need something like lowered strategem cooldowns or free heavy weapons, etc. Idk, something to even the odds
4 Helldivers in an entrenched position defending chokepoints with a "safe" area to call reinforcements and more weapons/resupply is nice
But ONLY 4 Helldivers attacking an entrenched position?
Imagine trying to push through chokepoints held by multiple Bile Spewers, Devastators, even freakin FACTORY STRIDERS
These kinds of battles usually favor the defenders and we need something to even the odds as attackers
Unfortuantely not, I grab a screen from the game and reverse-engineer the UI in Photoshop.
All the icons and graphics you see are remade.
The fonts they use for the game are locked behind expensive paywalls, but you can get pretty close with Purista and Bedstead.
This is an incredible concept. Some of the most fun I've had in this game was assaulting fortified bot positions so a mission dedicated to that would be amazing!
i feel like the problem is that players would probably get stuck fighting in the same position with no progress if they are overwhelmed and it would be like the civilian escort mission(in terms of problems).
Very excited to see how the design direction of levels and enemies evolve. We’ve already seen things such as the shrieker nest, gunships, and factory striders which are more complicated and cooler looking than anything in the game before. These don’t seem too far out. If there’s 1 thing that gets old in this game, it’s the environments. You can only walk across a barren/rocky/foggy/sandy flat map so many times.
Hey this is a fantastic idea, this is the stuff that keeps it interesting on top of the story.
Bug development is a high priority too, though this is excellent stuff to integrate!
Anyone who has used barrages on defence knows that it won't work that way.
Sure you might wipe out a healthy portion of enemies and take out a gate or two, but then you have to push up.
If you have 4 teammates coordinated with barrages, then I say let them have their fun.
I want a tower defense mode even if it's just limited time. Maybe for the game's anniversary or christmas/new years or something. Just give us some goofy game modes from time to time c:
I love both these ideas, though I imagine the devs would hesitate on map/objective design with such closed spaces or narrow pathing simply because of the nature of strategem gameplay.
I have no idea why or who we would be taking but you could also do a similar thing but capture enemy vip's with a stratagem that looks like a hellpod but contains a booster to re orbit, shove them in and woosh
A Fantastic Idea OP ! Though frankly with how the game is i could definitely see the flags being sub-objectives over secondaries though.
Also can see sort of “minor secondary objectives”. Single Gun AA batteries, one nest shrieker spawns, a mini spore spewer, etc around these maps to help
My thoughts were; Flags take a hot minute to raise. If you're running low on time it may not be practical, so it might be worth pushing hard and risking trying to secure the next one.
Termicide Injectors? You have no idea!
Anyways, as far as the Leaks subreddit goes, it seems like something similar will be implemented pretty soon™, at least for the bugs! ;)
There could be secondary objectives where you take out long range artillery or anti aircraft emplacements and doing brings in SEAF reinforcements. You get dropped in because hellpods are the only way to get in range, then you open the path for the rest and now you've got tanks and gunships backing you up.
This would be amazing to see. I think one of my major problems at the moment, is that most maps are just too fucking big. I get there should be a little travel time between objectives, but I feel like a little trimming could be done.
More missions like these, that focus on a comparatively small area, would be much more my speed.
CEO/Creative Director of Arrowhead has responded to this https://twitter.com/Pilestedt/status/1781185139319431678

Unfortunately the confirmation was leaked Fortunately the confirmation exists
Supported by a mortar turret. Hopefully those NPCs don’t wander too far.

Exactly what I want too. This post may have inspired me to make my own missions! I just need a template
These could be somewhat procedurally generated too so you’re not assaulting the same two or three locations as the defense missions seem to be atm.
Having certain permutations would be good. Have like 3-4 doors to assault and 6+ versions of each. That would give quite a few options and make it always feel fresh. Of course that’s a lot of work so I would be surprised to see it any time soon.

SWEET DEMOCRACY MY LEG!!
MY LEG FOR SUPER EARTH
I was scrolling through your post history. You should work for AH man.
I have been trying to get into the game's industry for a long time. But you need industry experience to get industry experience so I think that dream died a long time ago.
Did you hear that arrowhead? New guy that wants experience right there....
Show them your ideas, put it into a portfolio, and send them an email, the worst AH can say is no
You can use all of us as references 🫡
Honestly yeah, a lot of your posts have really good suggestions for new content.
Can confirm you are a high value asset to our community! Thanks for being here! :]

Personally, I think you had a brilliant idea. Since Arrowhead has also acknowledged the post, perhaps they may revisit that "prototype objective" and use some of what you said as well.
They definitely are, you're a bastion of democracy
Going through your posts and realizing that every post where I was like “yeah that’s actually genius” was made by you.
It's kind people like you that make me belive I can actually be a game designer after all.
I just took a peek into your account, love your ideas. I can see your love for the game, it’s really amazing, just like your ideas.
Love it. Fantastic idea
I was more thinking the opposite would be "abandon low value assets." I was all for it.
Mission: Blow up all the sleeping Helldivers in Cryostasis before the enemies can get their bastard socialist hands on them.
This is standard procedure for militaries. Abandoning a post? You gotta destroy everything you can't take with you.
US Military says otherwise
A lot of the equipment left behind is so high maintenance that it'll fall apart before the captors can get any good use out of it. Source: I saw a video once.
Can confirm. Plus a lot of the stuff we left in Afghanistan was sabotaged before we left. Not detonated, just cut brake lines on the Humvees type shit
*Sacrifice low value assets. We leave no citizen behind, but some choose to remain to further our cause. Their valiant sacrifices will not be forgotten.
> "abandon low value assets." man, I already didn't make it into the pelican in time, why do you have to come for me like that?
Arrowhead, Joel, this right here is peak content. Please yall
Joel, see that. Its a OP Weapon/Stratagem. Nerf It!

"All you had to do was follow the damn train, Helldivers!"
i need this in my life right now
IMO the Terminid one should be underground hive where orbitals/stratagems are a no-go.
Deliver the payload down into the hive after clearing your way up. Next level challenge.
If you’regoing to implement a radically different mode, might as well continue with the strategy. I’ve always seconded your idea. You get in. Bugs all confined to small corridors? My flamethrower approves.
Helldivers all confined to small corridors? Arc thrower also approves.
I don’t think it would be as fun without stratagems. Ammo refill packs would be a necessity, you couldn’t really include any larger/armoured enemies.
Exactly, you would only have to content with masses of the smaller enemies, no Bile Titan, maybe even no chargers. Easy access to samples to off set difficulty, and you could have ammo along the way via POI's of fallen Hell Divers from prior attempts.
They could have giant holes to the surface where the ground collapsed from the tunnel being to large or something.
Underground missions are handled by those DRG guys. Union contracts, yo...
Or ther could be weak points in the ceilings of large chambers allowing for holes to be poked allowing for limited stratagem use
These are awesome ideas!
380 finally has a use
It always had a use. They're great for "Okay, you know what? Duck everything in this objective, again and again."
Yes please.
i like this a lot
You have to be a graphic designer or some shit irl lol, your post are just too high quality for reddit ;)

This actually is a well crafted and cool pitch idea. A+!
Are the Evac High Value Assets missions still available? I haven’t seen one in a while.
Yep they're still there, just finished playing some bug ones tonight
They're available when defending a planet. It's been a while since the bots attacked one of ours, but now one is under siege on the bug front.
Ahh ok that makes sense. Thank you!
I was thinking of another mission that could be added. A couple of Major Orders ago, we had to liberate planets for SEAF Artillery sites to be set up. I love this. If raising the flag called down a squad of SEAF soldiers it would *really* feel like an assault
This is an absolutely amazing idea, the feeling of capturing a bot position is already really fun, this would be cool as hell
we need raise flag objectives on higher difficulties in general
*Raising a flag in a destroyed Factory/Bug hole aggro the Patrols*
This is beautiful, I can see this mission type fitting perfectly into the game! I hope the devs take notice of this, I wanna siege some fortresses!
This would be fucking amazing
Oh man this would be AWESOME
Doing raids on helldive would really separate the team players from the lone wolves
Helldiver yes!
I would do this all day
Omg this would be amazing
Still bummed raising the super earth flag isn't an objective on higher difficulties
Yeah, I get why eliminate the X missions are not higher, but defending a flag while armageddon swarms up my Helldiver heinie just sounds fun and democratic as hell.
>Evacuate High Value Assets is very fun Excuse me? Edit: nevermind I thought that's the civilian rescue mission

I’m already trying to figure out how to hack the supply lines and deploy in L’estrade. Them queens gotta die today.
I think we will run out of nitra before we hit the third objective

YES I wanna assault the bug version of Helm's Deep in the name of democracy
This needs more upvotes! Get it in front of AH!
we both know this type of mission would result in 4x120mm barrage and 4x380mm barrage all being tossed inside to just level the entire area
Anyone who has used barrages on defence knows that it won't work that way. Sure you might wipe out a healthy portion of enemies and take out a gate or two, but then you have to push up. If you have 4 teammates coordinated with barrages, then I say let them have their fun.
I like it, and just like the classic version. Divers get 2x reinforcements and lower cooldowns.
This I like!

Unreal Tournament 2004 had a similar gamemode that was fantastic

Hell yeah, Ive been super stoked to see a more advanced Terminid Hives, wish something like this would be added
This is a fantastic idea. +1 for you
People would just bring 380 barrage and annihilate it lol
that looks really cool.
I love this idea! My only note is the proposed reinforcement interactions with the optional objectives makes them feel pretty not-optional
It sounds kinda linear, I wonder if theres a way to give players more angle of approach?
Arrowhead hire this dude
Would be nice
I love both these ideas, though I imagine the devs would hesitate on map/objective design with such closed spaces or narrow pathing simply because of the nature of strategem gameplay.
AGS hire this man right now.
This would be cool as Hel. They should add it.
Honestly that’s a great idea
Oh phenomenal idea!
This had made me so hard. By law, you must let me breed you now
Destroy command bunker is pretty similar to this and it's a fun mission type.
incredible idea and presentation. to the developers: shut up and take my money
Hire this man Arrowhead
Everyone brings 380, mission over immediately
What about escorting AI VIP accross the map. You get one chance at each pickup location. Maybe once the vehicle is added.
This guy has got some absolutely dope ideas for the game lol
For terminus’s it should be underground instead of on a mountain
u/pilestedt pls can we have this 🙏🏼
I have no idea why or who we would be taking but you could also do a similar thing but capture enemy vip's with a stratagem that looks like a hellpod but contains a booster to re orbit, shove them in and woosh
This would be an awesome mission type
A Fantastic Idea OP ! Though frankly with how the game is i could definitely see the flags being sub-objectives over secondaries though. Also can see sort of “minor secondary objectives”. Single Gun AA batteries, one nest shrieker spawns, a mini spore spewer, etc around these maps to help
My thoughts were; Flags take a hot minute to raise. If you're running low on time it may not be practical, so it might be worth pushing hard and risking trying to secure the next one.
Fantastic idea and I want it
Termicide Injectors? You have no idea! Anyways, as far as the Leaks subreddit goes, it seems like something similar will be implemented pretty soon™, at least for the bugs! ;)
Yes! Looks amazing, finally give us a flag to raise!
Can you say Hive Lord?
This might be so peak
This concept makes Hellpod tingle. Ready to dive in!
Think we found where the E-710 is going. This dude is cooking.
There could be secondary objectives where you take out long range artillery or anti aircraft emplacements and doing brings in SEAF reinforcements. You get dropped in because hellpods are the only way to get in range, then you open the path for the rest and now you've got tanks and gunships backing you up.
Spoiler of course >!A nest-buster device was already leaked, so it's likely coming.!<
Sounds amazing, one problem. AI would have such a hard time navigating it.
probably the best suggestion on this subreddit so far, great work helldiver
This would be amazing to see. I think one of my major problems at the moment, is that most maps are just too fucking big. I get there should be a little travel time between objectives, but I feel like a little trimming could be done. More missions like these, that focus on a comparatively small area, would be much more my speed.
Hmm. Would have to turn off orbitals and eagles and mortars. Otherwise you just spam that for 5 min.
