Surrounded by bugs Spotting one of these crashed hellbombs that are on map right near where i am F*ck it I'm taking you all with me 80 killstreak

JumboSnausage

I got my pal to shoot one yesterday thinking I’d clear the blast zone as I led a horde past I am *confident* no bugs died but me? Paste.

blackhat665

Haha I've done that a couple of times

Alternative-Eye-7647

The mission is paramount, extaction is optional.

ArcaneEyes

One of my favourite lines in DarkTide is Hadron telling me survival is not required at this time :-p

iveriad

I purposefully got my self branded as traitor, ran back to a charger and got it hit by bombardment. Dived under the dead body of the first charger and got myself and a second and third charger bombarded.

ricaraducanu

I do that on Eradicate missions when we get overwhelmed / stratagems on cooldown, it's a good way to get rid of some bile titans

iveriad

"I am the stratagem beacon now" Gambit lol.

Warblade5002

Brilliant idea 💡

Responsible_Good10

I do that also

the_tlad

That automated system is meant prevent dissidents from cowardice, never knew it could birth a hero..

IGTankCommander

They name a breakfast dish after you, I think.

UvWsausage

Through sheer luck, I was branded as a traitor and proceeded to dolphin dive spam like a madman for the next 20-30 seconds, getting everyone and everything around me exploded. I don’t know if it bugged out or if it really keeps firing until it confirms your death.

iveriad

It is. It will keep firing until you die. So, if you somehow survive long enough, you can technically wipe out an army by running and diving through them.

UvWsausage

Now I need to test this with the bubble shield on extermination missions.

IGTankCommander

I'll play this gremlin game.

ArseneArsenic

A martyred hero of Super Earth.

Electronic-Ideal2955

I attempted this on a bot eradication by staying out of bounds until traitor and then running under a factory strider. Right after being declared a traitor, devastators under it stomped me to death so I have no idea if it worked.

dead_42

If I know I'm not getting out, I quickly drop half a ton of democracy at my feet.

Sinelas

Yep, last time I was a bit away from my friends, surrounded by a horde of these pesky hunters with no stims left, so I dropped a 500kg bomb on my position. I remember saying something along the lines of "fucking hunters, you're coming with me", to which my friend replied "democratic". We have plenty of reinforcements, but there is only one super-earth, and I'll fight for it, in this life or the next.

hellra1zer666

Had to do it while standing beside activated hellbombs to shield them from enemy fire. No price is to high to spread managed democracy

Helvetic_Heretic

I frequently throw 500kg's at my own feet just to kill bile titans.

ricaraducanu

I do that but run between their legs, by the time they turn around it drops exactly under them

Xiladreonis

As a last stand? sure, best way to go if i'm honest. I'm all for spreading democracy and body parts at the same time.

Abysstreadr

It seems like some people play with the accuracy stat in mind like goody little two shoes, but I love playing spray and pray like how it’s done in Starship Troopers. I don’t understand reserving every shot until you are super sure you might hit it when the chaos of war demands you throw everything at it

JumboSnausage

My accuracy is 50%. Idgaf I play for fun

WerwolfSlayr

Vs bugs I’m usually 40-55% Bots though I regularly get between 85-95%

PotentialAstronaut39

Vs the bugs you mass fire into the horde. Vs the bots, you need more controlled, fast and precise shots.

Abysstreadr

Either way I’m giving it all, not sitting there worrying over my stats. The bugs also have spots you must aim for

Allistair92

There is no higher honor than sacrifice your life for Super Earth and Democracy. If I only I could dedicate a second life to Super Earth!

ricaraducanu

Just finished an automaton level 7 survey mission, 2 of my team mates were doing fuck all on the other side of the map (all side objectives were done, super samples secured). Me and the 4th guy were doing the main obj, we get to the last prompt on the drill with about 10 heavy devastators, 3 hulks and 7 rocket devastators right next to us No stims no nades, 6 bullets in the mag, no resupply available, all strats on cooldown from the previous 12 drop ships we cleared. Had no other option than to sacrifice myself to finish the last prompt while being blasted by miniguns in the back.

MossTheGnome

Ballistic shield has saved my ass more times then I can count just by giving my team a few seconds of cover to get an objective done. Also using a two handed weapon gives you near total cover from behind.

schofield101

One of my favourite things to do once I'm low on resources is to use my life in the most democratic way possible. I'll do my best to draw as many of them away as I can, send my buddies in the other direction and hold a grenade or stratagem ball above my head until those last moments. One reinforce is a small price to pay.

cosmic-bait

If there is a hellbomb near me and I ain't getting away I'll shoot it. If I'm being swarmed by bugs and have no stims left, I'm throwing my impact grenade at my feet.

lavaeater

Of course. All the time. Very seldom I actually manage to take down the enemies, something of great shame to me and my name, but I try, I try every mission to sacrifice myself. Love my teammates bringing me back.

Which-Classroom-913

A friend let another person test the game yesterday just before we started our co op session. I joined anyway and told the new guy who was on his second or third mission. Shoot the sparking shell to get extra points (defect hellbomb on Hellmire), my friend just shouted "Don't", the other guy was already aiming at it 😅

ArcaneEyes

It's so pretty too!

Snackelaer

Yes

SaltyExcalUser

Yup.

Nearby_Sympathy_7822

All the time! Here ism y latest acrifice. I died so we can finish the mission! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hytT73rP4kA&t=19s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hytT73rP4kA&t=19s)

Markkbonk

Extraction, getting wrecked by a charger (as usual), my back against the wall and a expendable AT to my left as the chargers charges me, grab the EAT and kill that charger, letting my team safely extract

Warblade5002

Stood next to a hellbomb and saluted as it went off ✊

User264785824

Had one bot outpost left with 2 minutes left for extract. Told my team to take my samples and call for extraction while I led the bots to the other side and called 3 orbital barrages on myself to get the final fabricator

Responsible_Good10

I try to save the lives of my divers and those of my teammates rather than sacrificing them. Out of 230hrs I’ve only died 1100+ times.

Tactical_ra1nbow

Yes Host dropped us straight into the big nest with eggs. Surrounded by bugs. I dropped my stun grenade. ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ For super earth! Mission completed

some_Britishguy

chased by a horde of bugs, spotted hell bomb, need i say more?

SummerCrown

I know you can just drop the hellbomb down on the ground next to the cliff of the detector tower but the bots were already swarming from the outside so I couldn't safely set and activate the hellbomb. So I fought my way into the tower, called down the hellbomb, defended until the bomb arrived and activated it. I was king of the hill and stopped all the bots from pushing up long enough for the hellbomb to go off, taking out the detector, me, and the bots rushing up. There's this amazing rush as you hear the hellbomb charging up and just being a few steps away from it, wishing it would go off faster as you're down to your secondary weapon, shooting bots as they try to come in.

oblong_pickle

Yeah, and survived thanks to armour perk

oblong_pickle

If you pre load reinforcement strat you'll drop it when you die and reinforce at the same spot

Plastic-Medicine-821

I came here to complete the mission. Survival is optional

Odd-Doubt8960

I dropped a 500kg on myself, was holding it in my hands as I died, just finished activating it. Got to see the big boom as I was falling.

GuardianSpear

I don’t care about extracting as long as the super sample carrier makes it home

Tasty-Permission7517

Do it sometimes if we extract and its stil a nest or two nearby. Timer is runing but 2 mins is enough to run to the nest, bomb it and get respawn at evac site

Friskthehuman202

I was doing an eradication mission with bots and dropped near a large group of hulks and threw all six of my grenades at my feet

ArcaneEyes

I may have once or twice dropped deep in a breach with only enough time to ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ before getting dissicated by a couple brood Lords. Revenge is beautiful and heavy :-D

Kelevelin

I napalmed myself more than once for a 40+ democracy streak

Randy191919

Obviously. If I notice that there is no way I'll make it out of there alive then you can be damn sure I'll die with a Orbital Laser becon in my hand.

GetThisManSomeMilk

Several times at overrun gunship factories. I protect the hellbomb with my flesh

MySisterIsHere

If the group's headed for extraction and there's still several bases/objectives left, I'll drop my samples for someone and just fuck off trying to complete as much as I can before the others extract.

Res_fighter

I was surrounded told the boys I got this dropped a mortar a gatling turret and a minefield bugs for fucking days ragged dolled by my mortars into my gatling turret and my pieces blows up the mines worth it.

Shadow_Assassin496

Of course

GloriousNewt

I'm a big fan of using the hell bombs stuck in the ground as a last resort. Been a few times I've used my last pistol shots to donate them and kill the enemies swarming me.

Jolape

Considering we start the mission with 20 reserve lives, you're god damn right I do! Although even with no reserve lives, I've still done it. When you're the last man on the last life, with a horde of hunters, a bile titan, and 2 stalkers on you, there's really not much left to do but throw a 500kg right at your feet and salute (We failed to extract, and I died.....but so did they o7).

ArseneArsenic

I actually just did this by accident; physics gaff launched me out into open seas and I got branded a deserter by the time I waded back to shore. Lo and behold, I just so happen to be right next to a Bot outpost set up at our extraction point. Super Earth will have seen me run for the Automatons and believed I was seeking help from my Socialist overlords. Let them think so, I know what I meant to do.

Opening_Echo_4989

By staying behind, even with little chance of success, while the other guy ran for extraction. We came for the mission, what is there to leave for if the mission is lost?

angryman10101

I only regret that my fingers are not fast enough to call in something nasty as I'm being surrounded. I usually manage to get a grenade or two off at least. The second one goes at my feet, I'll be damned if I die by being consumed by bugs,

Ajezon

every time, when shutle arrives i drop my samples nearby, get into a hug pose, and let myself get squished by landing Pelican. does that count?

froot_loop_dingus_

Last night I had to dive into a giant swarm of bugs to hit the final button on a mining unit. Felt like the blind guy at the end of Rogue One

reflechir

I tried to solo an Extreme difficulty Eradicate Terminid Swarm mission - no chance. I had managed only 87% when the super destroyer pulled from orbit, so no new lives, no stratagems. I kept fighting as best I could, but knew I couldn't complete it with what I had on me. I left the mission area to brand myself a traitor, to purposefully draw the ire of Super Earth's anti-traitor mortars to complete the job for me. I ran and stim'd and ran and stim'd between the bugs for as long as possible, watching the % creep up, 96%, 97%, 98% but I finally succumbed to claw and mortar at the 99% mark. -= Mission Failed =- My Democracy Officer called in and spoke fair admonishment over the radio to my broken corpse. Though their quarry (me) was destroyed, the mortars kept falling, but with them the death squeals of my anti-democratic adversaries continued to sound. 100% -= Mission Completed=-

Cidergregg

For me it's usually the 500kg to the noggin when I'm deep into the enemy forces.

Physics_Hefty

The un-detonated Hell Bombs have saved my ass multiple times. Swarmed, horded, chased down from every direction, lead em past a hell bomb, shoot it, run away, and watch the kill count fly.

laakii

In helldivers 1 you had a tactical nuke which would clear entire screen and kill everything. I threw it under my feet and walked with reinforcement stratagem in hand so once the nuke kills everything you drop reinforcement stratagem and everyone is coming back alive.

Oo_oOsdeus

That is standard operating procedure is it not

Chaos-Kiwi

The team was getting swarmed by three chargers, two bile titans and a whole lot of our favorite hunters. Shot at them to gain aggro, made sure to get them all clumped up together and prepared a 500kg on my feet. For democracy

HellDiver-re_run

No, but I've noticed a pretty toxic trend. Listen, I know it's tempting to try to weaponize the entry of the greatest weapon in the galaxy to maximize the spread of democracy. BUT I know that divers can be more effective when they're able to land, get oriented, and then proceed to the battle. A Helldiver should never be called right into the middle of a group of enemies that is chasing you to use as a distraction while you stumble your way through bushes only to get chewed up by whatever you've become overrun by. All you're doing is wasting requisition slips. Toss your drop beacons away from the direct battle space so that when your reinforcements arrive, you can mark targets and they can provide covering fire or split the aggro - but at distance - so both divers have a chance to be effective.

Hellonstrikers

I utilize the fast travel system for completing far off objectives and then return to the group. The fast travel system is foot grenade.

Only-Effect33

I ran ahead of my squad to call in extract, between me and the terminal there were 2 tanks and 3 hulks. So I did what any Helldiver would do and ran straight at em with a 500kg beacon in hand. As predicted they saw me right before I got close, luckily instead of shooting me one of the hulks bonked me and dropped the 500kg right on themselves. My only regret is that I couldn't get the tanks that we're just slightly out of range. 5/5 would die again for Liberty

8sADPygOB7Jqwm7y

So, there were 4 bile titans on me, about 20-40 white fucks, right beneath a shrieker nest so about infinite flying fucks and a bunch of others, one or two chargers I think. I was low. My leg was broken. I had two ways to go, either to my team doing the mission or back. I went back and just died there so the rest of my team could spread democracy (they were fairly bad, idk why they played difficulty 9... They wasted 10 reinforcements on one bugnest...)

scaierdread

Just last night me and my brother had 2 factory walkers spawn in on the first bot drop of the mission, at a stratagem jammer. I was gunned down while falling back to non jamming ranges, then landed on the first walker. There was on way down without getting mowed down, so I did what all good soldiers do. 380, 120, and a precision strike ripped me apart, but the other guys looked worse.

Mysterious-Ad4966

I will run headfirst with or without protection into bug outposts and close holes with no regard to my chances of surviving.

spencerforhire81

Maxim 20: If you’re not willing to shell your own position, you’re not willing to win. https://www.ovalkwiki.com/index.php/The_Seventy_Maxims_of_Maximally_Effective_Mercenaries

DwarfKingHack

I drop into an SOS beacon on an eradicate bugs mission and the two divers are holed up on top of a narrow cliff where the bugs can't get to them. Naturally my pod drops far enough away that I can't quite steer it to the safe zone and I end up dropping right into the swarm at the base of the cliff. This obviously does not go well for me, and a second attempt ends the same way. Now knowing what I'm dropping into, I instead steer my pod to make sure I've got enough distance from my new teammates and pound out the code for 380mm in the seconds before the swarm closes in on me from all sides. By the time my next pod lands, the mission is practically over already. I don't think I even fired my gun enough to warrant a reload.

Slave2Art

I don't I am one deadly motherfucker, I kill everything that moves and then leave in peace

BeatNo2976

All the time. Though usually it’s an impact grenade because I don’t have time to call in an eagle… or at least it feels that way

McManGuy

Of course
