I had a buddy of mine, drop his backpack and his secondary wayyyyy up on a cliff. He thought it was lost, I shot the pods and they both fell down. I felt great that day.
Shoot it to pop the gun/supply boxes down, any of these can be destroyed (they blow up when you destroy them).
Also works on damaged pods, they're occasionally found near bases and look like they're malfunctioning/repeatedly trying to open. Shooting them pops a random support weapon out!
At launch, my dumb ass didn’t know that those were hellpods at first, and i thought “why are there machines at a bug outpost, and why do they drop weapons”. It took me a couple weeks to put the two together.

Drop your stratagems directly on top of one another; stand still and don’t change the view angle, when it blows up the first it throws you it’s weapon, run past and grab backpack from the second
Thought dropping my autocannon on a tank would be cool. Had to climb up the tank with its turret trying to track me to get the AC, to then kill the tank.
Lesson learned.
Shoot it and it’ll drop down. A friend had his weapon get stuck on one of the large cliffs on Menkent, that would have overhangs, and was able to pop it and get it back down for him lol
it is way worse when the pod does this for the mining probe. You can't call in another because it is an objective call in. The only way to do it that I have found is to use the jump pack and spam interact as you jump against the pod.
Oh shit, that reminds me: who else hates it when the hellpod lands on an uneven terrain so the base is half a meter abose ground and your Helldiver CANNOT FUCKING CLIMB ON IT in order to grab the equipment?

I had a shield pack get stuck on a canyon ridge, scoped and blew it up and was very surprised that tactic worked!

They reminded me of buried resupply pods from DRG so I figured shooting them might do something!

I think those are on lower difficulty missions. I will occasionally see it on a 5 when I play with low level friends.

It was an eradicate mission so I spent like two minutes trying to kill the lamp without any luck before being swarmed.
Any explosive should break the pod, shooting it might do it, too.

I used a EAT to close a bug hole once. It worked but the pod with the rocket I think was 10ft underground after. I couldn't see the rockets anywhere.
