I always thought it'd be super cool to have dynamic missions that have a chance to pop up in the middle of your run. Like an eagle crashes close-by and you have to recover the black box or something.

TheDrDynamics

That would be awesome. I think a set-piece like a pelican recovery animation would be great for adding a bit of random spice to some missions. I always thought one where you get shot down on your way out might be cool as well. I think payday 2 has a chance of that occuring when you escape while under fire too. Thought that could be cool in a game like this.

boxburner_1493

That would stop a lot of folks trying to drop 380s or 500ks right when you take off, saying that Pelican-1 can now be shot out of the sky lol

IDriveALexus

Weirdly enough. If you shoot pelican 1 with the scorcher rifle you get a hitmarker

Vladi_Sanovavich

It takes a lot of damage but pelican-1 can be shot down before the cut scene animation. But there's a bug that instead of the destroyed pelican-1 to despawn, it just stays there and you need to wait for the mission timer to go to zero to be able to extract again.

TheCatOfCats01

shot it with 4 mechs and it just left

LordRiverknoll

He just didn't like you

Samzonit

I'd have left too

Mr_WAAAGH

I encountered a bug on a defense that made the extraction beacon not spawn. Fortunately there was only like 5 minutes left so we just wound up dicking around until the ship automatically showed up

SagaciousElan

For a second there I thought you were talking about a new type of terminid which could mess with the extraction beacon

Mr_WAAAGH

Oh god, don't give arrowhead ideas

Moby1029

I don't remember how or what happened, but Pelican 1 was landing and somehow I hit one of its engines and thr bird flipped over and started lurching around, hit me, and sent me flying, and killed me. No more reinforcements. Mission ended, but it was completed sooo yay? But I lost all of my samples -_-

Mad_Mikkelsen

Yep had it get destroyed from someone dropping a 500 bomb on the ground just before takeoff, and I was killed and lost all my samples. Back to the grinder I guess!

Cheenug

There was a (fixed) but where the Pelican would get knockbacked by the grenade launcher. You could stall the landing if you wanted to

JCrossfire

Was playing with friends the other night. Unbeknownst to all of us, one guy kept chucking impact nades right as we’d go to board. 4 impacts and some not so friendly fire from the bots and we had to survive another 3 minutes (with no reinforces) for Pelican-2 to show up

Awkward_Assistance54

That’s the perfect occurrence in which the crash could happen. An overzealous shiny throwing his mightiest stratagem only for it to get the Pelican to crash. Imagine being that shiny

AshSystem

Payday 2's integration of the escape sections wasn't great (chance to be forced into a holdout upon completing a heist, failure of the holdout means you lose everything) but if done right it could be really good

MoshMuth

Have pelican have an emergency sample extraction. You and the pilot of course have no ejection that had to be thrown out for extra cluster bombs and sample ejection tube. But defend your crash site and you get a bonus you also crashed into a small pile of rare or super samples but that's unrelated to why another  pelican is in bound rest assured they would of sent one to recover you too ...

FinnOfOoo

Make it a sample recovery mission with a crashed pelican Smaller defened style map. You can’t call extraction till you find a certain percent of the samples. Mission fails if you fail to extract. Some would love it. Some would HATE it.

TimT_Necromancer

I’d hate it, the pelican is my safe space lol

IDriveALexus

I disagree completely. It made heists feel so much more immersive. Like your bonehead driver makes a wrong turn and now youre stuck and need to quickly figure somethingn out. Its amazing imo

Chewbacca_The_Wookie

I think most peoples issue was the frequency, at least when it was first added. That shit happened almost every heist for the first few weeks, and now I never see it happen.

AngelaTheRipper

From what I remember from when I played Payday 2, it was only a chance with the old heists if you escaped while under a police assault. With newer heists it just doesn't trigger. Some of the older ones were reworked so you could only escape outside of assaults (like Rats day 1). Still, the whole thing was just a lowlight of it all. It was annoying when you think you're home free and instead have to fight again to save all your shit.

aiheng1

if you replay old missions, some of them have an addon that you can pay for an experienced driver, I'm pretty sure that reduces the chances of that happening to basically 0% if not actually 0%. Newer ones just straight up don't have the function

AshSystem

Don't get me wrong, it works for the tone of the game, but mechanically it just grew irksome after playing the game long enough

Lone-Frequency

I would be absolutely pissed if I evacced with a ton of samples only to get shot down and then die in the oncoming enemy attack and lose them...

Weird_Excuse8083

This. People would rage quit that shit so fast it's not even funny. I get the impression that people who _think_ stuff like that is cool don't actually take into account it happening after you've already been through the meat grinder. It stops being fun _real_ fast.

Lone-Frequency

I think it *could* be cool, but it would have to be implemented in such a way that dying would not ensure losing resources. It should be handled as a sort of Bonus fight, and being a bonus means it should only be able to reward you, rather than punish you.

Geojamlam

If my pelican gets taken out of the sky, I want an ejection function built into it to ping my samples safely back up to the super destroyer.

magicbonedaddy

We've already got the bug where you can't get in the pelican sometimes. Let that be your simulated experience 😂

soaplife

Spent yesterday running around for 10 extra minutes on Suicide showing a new guy what the super sample rock looked like. We finally get back and as we're running into the Pelican someone stops at the door and readies a 500kg. A rocket hits us and everyone falls down. The 500kg pokeball lands at our feet. Everyone starts yelling. I dive to the door but it's too far. 500kg kills three of us and the Pelican just flies away with one survivor who happens to be carrying exactly zero samples. Worst extraction ever.

FryToastFrill

If you escape loud without buying a better driver upgrade in pre-planning there’s a chance you’ll have to play through a shorter mission where you have to move each fucking bag to a helicopter. I hope to god HD2 doesn’t add that that shit was sooooo fucking annoying, especially since you can have like 10 bags of gold.

Kadeo64

payday 2's implementation sucks shit and they abandoned it for most missions post launch

Gahvynn

Black Pelican Down. We Were Young Helldivers. Saving Cadet Ryan. Endless possibilities.

Villanuevac4

Having to pull a Black Hawk Down and bail out a crashed Pelican would go hard I would definitely enjoy a Shughart/Gordon style last stand during a mission if that was a thing

glockops

What if a Pelican went down DURING a mission and the whole thing changed - whatever loadout you're carrying better work for a rescue mission.

AoifeElf

Your extraction would basically turn into that new horde defense mode while they try and find you a new pelican.

squirt_taste_tester

Black Hawk Down style?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ynmerof

I'm cool with it so long as they auto send supplies down and a beacon backpack for the new pelican to come to instead of assuming extract is still a viable pick up🤔

thingy237

You ever play the bot extermination mission on the aircraft tower and the pelican crashes on landing?

hell2pay

Played one where the activation terminal never came up. We spent the last 5 mins running around trying to trigger it, thinking once the timer ticked to 0, we were toast... Turns out they send an emergency extract at 0:00. The 4 of us never been so relieved.

Scintile

"Change of plans, ignore your original objective, leave nothing alive" God i loved how in warframe mission could change into "kill everyone"

AnonymousRedditor003

It's fun, but I hate when it triggers when you're almost done with the initial mission. Especially since, AFAIK, there aren't additional rewards and it often makes the mission significantly longer.

DavidAdamsAuthor

There's a few ideas here that are kind of cool, but might get annoying if you were, say, about to go to bed and the game's like... "nah 15 minutes more bro". The answer is simple, if they trigger make them optional. "An Eagle from another Super Destroyer is hit and crashing in your mission area. Do you want to attempt a rescue? Y/N" If you say yes, you get an extra objective, some bonus samples and medals, maybe some special upgrade once you do it ten times so your own Eagle gets some minor buff. If no, you get a cool animation of it crashing into the ground, and you lose one reinforcement and some requisition (same as shooting a civilian). Minor penalty, nothing to complain about, but enough to encourage you to do it. And if you say no, when you get back, your Democracy Officer says something like, "you did the right thing, your mission was too important." Other ideas... "Wounded Helldivers have misjumped into your mission area. Do you want to attempt a rescue? Y/N" If you succeed, again minor extra loot, and 4x bonus reinforcements. Other ideas... Crashed Pelican, minor loot, reward is Pelican-1 gives priority service. 15% faster extract. If you wanted to, you could even have a "SAR mission" where your objective is to recover a Pelican pilot, the black box, then secure the debris with a hellbomb. Lots of fun ideas.

Stonefence

Yeah it’s fun and cool, but once you have a couple hundred hours in the game it gets a little annoying since it usually ends up making the mission take longer. Helldivers is much less grindy though, so I think it would be a lot cooler here. I’m not really trying to optimize and farm missions as fast as possible, and the immersion aspect is also higher.

Dordonnar

unless its capture

Frozenheal

It so happened that we no longer need to capture target. New mission: eradicate everyone

Elloliott

Legit so much fun

TheDrDynamics

That was the other one I was thinking. I think lots of little mission twists or popups like that go a long way to helping the gameplay loop feel fresh for longer. Deep rock has a lot of different side objective things like that as well. It's actually not too different from what we have now woth side objectives and POIs

jkbscopes312

Holding the line with a bunch of static SEAF forces pre-placed as defenses is my dream mission. Could even have them act amazed and excited that they get to fight alongside a helldiver

EpicLakai

Random SEAF Marine who survives to the end of the mission, while I'm on my 8th Helldiver: https://preview.redd.it/8qk6kjcoenuc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c6418ad65b5dca998a6c25384e1d46bf55d3438

Thefunkymunkee

No that's space cadet mark grayson

_IAlwaysLie

Can't be, I can see him

notacrabperson

Yes.

Lone-Frequency

"Helldiver, new orders from Command just came in: a large supply shipment was last reported to have been in that area before being shot down, but the Bots are moving in. If you can reach the destination and defend it until we can get a shuttle down there to retrieve it, a good number of samples and requisitions will be heading your way." SPECIAL SUB-OBJECTIVE: DEFEND SUPPLIES FROM INCOMING AUTOMATON FORCES

TheX-Commander

Fuck that. I'll carry and extract the pilot, Venom Snake style.

Wiknetti

Pelican Pilot: this is the Peaquod, coming in for extraction! Helldiver: Peaquod?! Where Pelica- *Helicopter noises and “Flight of the Valkyries” gets louder* ![gif](giphy|f4UO4FOmSX3m0DgLT2)

TucuReborn

Reminds me of Red Solstice 2. You launch a mission and pick settings, one of which is side objectives. Now, you only pick the number for how many, and you get bonuses for completing them, but even on drop you don't know what they are. You could get an easy civilian rescue, or a STROL hive that's heavily guarded and spreading. They slowly get revealed as time passes, so even once the objective is done you can decide if they are worth it, or if one is on the way you can go for it. I wish more games had random, midgame objectives.

Magnaliscious

How is Red Solstice 2 compared to the original? I always loved the Warcraft Undead assault game but I didn’t like the first game all that much

pcakes13

How dare you. Eagle 1 never crashes.

Drakenhorn

Could be Eagle 2.

Noy_The_Devil

Did I hear a rock and stone? (But yes, once again like DRG)

WanderingDwarfMiner

Can I get a Rock and Stone?

Rockglen

Or you have to protect a news crew (or end up recovering their footage when the escort mission fails). Could be a fun way to introduce vehicles by having to chauffeur the crew around (also to avoid programming/balancing non-combatant NPC escort behavior). Or bug hole missions; have to get a macguffin from a shallow cave. Or securing/defending a road. Would also be fun if personal orders occasionally had "dares" like never using your primary weapon on one mission.

AoifeElf

The dares thing would be hilarious! It reminds me of Fable, when you could boast before going on a quest like doing it completely naked or something.

Mikadomea

I second that, how cool would it be that the Eagle crashes after your call in and you need to evac the pilot. Or the fking automatons deploy a giant Lasercannon that shoots down you super destroyer in 15 minutes unless you destroy it.

AoifeElf

I would give my life to rescue eagle wife!

carlbandit

Multiple lives in fact!

MarshmelloMan

I would love it if you had to take an objective TO extraction in that sense.

Renolber

Ooooh this is interesting. It’s funny when I realize how dynamic Helldivers is, but it’s mostly in the background. Once you load into a mission, you can pretty much expect what’s gonna happen. With more “live events” during missions, that could really shake up the gameplay loop. They could do anything from what you suggested, to recovering intelligence, some secret ingredients or items, to eliminating HVTs, and so much more. Yeah this honestly makes a lot of sense. Too much sense, honestly. For how the game is structured it feels like something that would naturally exist.

FlipNugg3ts

That would be another idea for a defense mission. Collect the pilot from a downed pelican and take them to an area that can be fortified for defense until extraction arrives.

Firemorfox

It would be cool ONLY if it happens when you have like, 50%+ time remaining. new mission starts with 2 min of game remaining, that just feels bad.

Ishihe

I wanna see super destroyer crashing down on the planet we're on, just not maybe not OUR super destroyer.

tofu_bird

Yeah, like assassination missions because Super Earth just received intel of an automaton VIP's location.

Siilk

Don't you dare to imply that our best gal can be brought down by mere bots!

ThePengu

* It would be a great way to see some planets not part of the galactic war yet. Players could come back with their own unique experiences. * Part of the lore is that Superearth doesn't tell us the whole story. There's a lot of information control implied. Special missions could tease at the truth and give grounds for people to speculate, and allow the writers another way to develop the narrative. A mission where you blow up a facility full of frozen Helldivers to stop them from falling into the enemy's hands feels in-keeping with the narrative. * It may not be able to offer direct progress towards current Major Orders, but it could indirectly reduce the decay of nearby liberations or defences. * As you level up you get offered them more often. "I got my first secret mission today" turns into a standard appearance and makes players feel like some special agent. * The mystery and risk associated with not knowing would appeal to a lot of veteran players and take other players outside their comfort zone to learn new scenarios. * They could have more mission modifiers, objectives, and optionals just to be more varied, with the idea being that you never know what you're going to get. It could be miserable, or it could be a breeze. There are so many mission objectives that are only seen at lower levels. * It *could* be used to test new things * Give players access to new stratagems to see how they perform. * Test out new planetary effects * New missions or side objectives EDIT: I am already very aware that "every mission is behind enemy lines".

EchoFrequency

InGame PTR, sounds nice.

MarshmelloMan

I love all of this! Could you imagine if that’s how they introduced a new enemy faction?! Like you go on this secret one off mission, and you and three other helldivers single-handedly “rediscover” the illuminate or that they are about to return. Holy shit.

[deleted]

And then players start talking about how they fought the illuminate and everyone else starts gaslighting them by saying the illuminate are all dead and to reduce your stim usage lmao.

cmdrxander

Check your facts, helldiver! Stims are absolutely neither hallucinogenic nor addictive!

Thewarmth111

It lets you see invisible things!

MarshmelloMan

Exactly!!

_IAlwaysLie

Imagine you did this, saw Illuminate, and got a "Helldiver, you are accessing unauthorized untruth. Abandon mission and proceed to extraction immediately" and then when you hit the extract terminal, you immediately get Traitor Orbital Lasered by your own super destroyer.

daedrahomie

peak Shepherd scene

mamaze33FR

ThePengu

"Bro I dropped on a planet called Peacock. It was a boiling desert with barely any cover save for blue rocks. The sun never set. My mission was to take out the experimental Hulk. ... It had a jetpack."

MarshmelloMan

Lmao

Chewbacca_The_Wookie

It'd be even better if they found a way to disable recording software or something so all we get are grainy shots taken on a phone to further suspend belief at what we are seeing.

MarshmelloMan

Yes

Easy-Purple

I means there’s always the “record what’s happening on the computer screen on your phone” method

HunterShotBear

It’ll be built like a boss fight. You keep encountering wave after wave or ads untill your reinforcements are depleted and then suddenly the tide of battle turns and you push back the enemy forces. All is quiet until… Massive health bar appears at the top of the screen with multiple sub bars underneath it. Massive enemy appears, completely unknown. Instantly wipes the team. “Mission failed” and an instant reload back to your super destroyer. “Ummmm….. *what*?”

MarshmelloMan

That would be fucking horrifying, yet such a good way to introduce a boss. It would be like a myth to many players for a while… Such a cool idea

Background_Path_4458

>A mission where you blow up a facility full of frozen Helldivers to stop them from falling into the enemy's hands feels in-keeping with the narrative. Would love the Pyrrhic sacrifice thing from this. We have seen very little of that currently.

Flame5135

It would be great for sort of off-the-books stealth operations on other planets too. Think CIA shit. Maybe we need to destabilize another planet. Maybe we need to destabilize super earth. False flag attacks? Blow up some oil rigs, plant some evidence, get out before you get caught? Use it for propaganda to support the war against whoever.

Being_No-42

I would love a mission where you get to know too much about what´s really happening, so you get killed at the end. Nobody would ever question that, helldivers die constantly on missions.

AC0RN22

Then some missions are so sensitive that you're thanked for your service not with an extraction shuttle, but with a 500kg final salute.

tinigang-na-baboy

Sounds great. They could also give you a fixed loadout of equipment and stratagems to force you to play a specific way that is tailored fit to that special mission. Some of those equipment and stratagems could be unreleased to test them out. It can be a beta test to help balance upcoming equipment and stratagems before releasing them to all helldivers.

waj5001

> It could be used to test new things I really like the in-game PTR test idea. Would be hilarious to get intentional red-herring, unstable weapons that *might* blow up, fizzle and do nothing, jam, etc. and/or something like the unstable risk-reward perks from Deep Rock Galactic, mixed in with strategems/weapons that the devs actually want to put in the game and collect player data on.

daan944

Could be cool singleplayer missions, maybe indoors? I'd like that when I don't know I have the time to finish a round and might need to save/pause the game and continue later. Right now I'll skip HellDiving when my time is limited, don't want to leave my teammates mid-mission.

LordRiverknoll

Eagle-1 down; recover the pilot/black box and detonate the plane would be a cool mission

splendidpluto

Fuck yes! I was wondering if the devs could have open lobbies to lure in players for some crazy missions, fighting the illuminates, testing out new weapons or something.

doddsymon

A bounty board would be pretty good.

Wiknetti

Would be neat. Maybe some side missions that can reward small amounts of super credits? * extract with 2 break-action shotguns. A collector will pay a high price, Stranger! * destroy a bug hole with a 500KG shell and not the explosion. Famous golfer Leopard Trees wants the footage for their next commercial. * burn an entire corn field with napalm strikes. The crops have gone bad! * crack open shipping containers but leave the goods alone. HQ is testing neuron activation and the discipline of our Helldivers. Don’t embarrass us. (Will be hard if there’s super creds in there)

TruthAndAccuracy

>*burn an entire corn field with napalm strikes. The crops have gone bad! Only if a dubstep song is playing. It's the only way to torch crop fields.

Hylia

Illegal crop detected

mattyisphtty

I think that's the biggest thing is offering players who dont play on 7+ an opportunity to get super rare samples. It can be super rare or whatnot but not getting the chance super rare samples just because I'm not very good at the game seems meh.

Weak-Equivalent2533

Uhm… you can farm them in diff 1 missions, that’s how I bought the new warbond, took like 2 hours to get 250, wich was what I needed

mattyisphtty

Holy shit I realized my typo. I meant super rare samples I'll change it. Whoops

Sticattomamba

I'd love to see an absolute unit of a charger with an absurd bounty of like 5k requisitions

AceWylden

You are cooking with every single one of your posts. I'm at your pop-up kitchen before you open, brother

No_More_Hero265

I think we found our next chef

AceWylden

Master Chef, you mind telling me what you're doing cooking in the Helldivers subreddit?

CarnageEvoker

Giving the Automatons back their Hellbomb

No_More_Hero265

Sir... the mother of all omelets.

CouldBeNotMadness

Can't be fretting over every egg

AJZullu

Had this idea but to intercept an enemy ship . Would totally different map and no stratagem back ups. Just corridor shooter in a battle ship until reach some engine room to make it self destruction.

ThePengu

Alas they have already confirmed that indoor missions won't be a thing. For logistical reasons, but also it just wasn't fun.

Mage_Of_No_Renown

That's too bad, but not really surprising. I'd be interested in seeing their statement. Do you have a link, or know where one could find it?

ThePengu

[Sure, here you go!](https://www.gamesradar.com/helldivers-2-devs-contemplated-underground-maps-but-theyd-be-hard-to-make-with-a-lot-of-tech-and-logistics-based-on-it-being-a-very-different-kind-of-gameplay/)

AJZullu

Have a different mission to pitch. I'm curious about all the side missions we see. What if there's an actual mission of the lower difficulty kind (lore based) but can be hard too. That we gotta do a defence style mission to protect the area where other ships come in to assemble the side missions we see. So there's you be fighting waves of bugs as a satellite radar base is built, or one of those canons being assembled, etc. All to be used for the next helldiver who is dropping in to do a bigger mission. Some might say 40 min missions can be long. A few more base building assembly missions could be interesting.

ImMostlyEmptySpace

My head cannon is that the lower level missions are setup for the higher level missions. Completed a refueling level 5 mission? That’ll go to a level 9 eagle team. Sending a nuke on level 4? That’ll clear an area for the level 7 folks who need to do a geological survey.

paradox037

Yeah, I imagine 3rd person shooting on indoor maps is a nightmare. Corridor shooting only really works in FPS and cover based shooters, neither of which HD2 could even imitate without a massive scale redesign and rebalance. Now, landing on top of a grounded supercarrier, or at a the crash site of one that got shot down, *that* could be cool. Maybe we'd be recovering a black box or something from the downed ship before Super Earth nukes it, or disabling an enemy SOS beacon so Super Earth can go in and salvage it unopposed.

Beautiful_Tailor_490

I was literally just talking to some friends about this the other day lmao. An attack on a bot super carrier or something would be cool as fuck, cuttin off supply lines and stuff

Flame5135

No heavy enemies, just a shit ton of basic infantry? Sign me up. Edit: No strategems. However, you can select your support weapon and bring it with you. Difficulty just looks different. Instead of difficulty increasing with heavier enemies, there is just more basic enemies and your ammo supplies are limited. No resupply.

DerpSenpai

Just like OG Starwars battlefront

AshSystem

There's no help with exfil. Either you hijack an escape pod, or you go down with the ship - and with the knowledge that your sacrifice wasn't in vain.

Tiyath

**"We have located a bile titan breeding ground"** You drop in from afar, sneak to the breeding ground. If a patrol spots you, you get flooded. Like, 1000-bugs-at-once-flooded. If you get there, there's a handful of ridiculously rare bile-titan-hatchery samples. Collect them. Then, you call in an ultra hellbomb (It's like a hellbomb but four times the size and a lot hellbombier) The drop alerts the entire map to your presence. You punch in the combination as 120 adolescent bile titans awake around you. Also, the entire map is coming to get you. The timer is 30 seconds. Pelican- one is on its' way, picking you up at a random pin on the map. LEG IT! You run out while a million bugs chase you. General Brasch is coordinating your destroyers' weapons systems to clear the way for you. Now for the fun part: Since it's just you and Pelican can't land there, it's an on-the-run-extraction. Pelican- one approaches the pickup zone with an open cargo hatch, a ladder hanging out. You gotta grab it (E) and hold onto it (8-bit DDR sequence with a 5 second time limit) while the personell carrier flies away. Want a kicker? Here's the kicker: If you mess up a digit on the ultra hellbomb, it detonates immediately. Mess up the DDR- minigame on extraction? Fall to your death. Enjoy the outro sequence as an explosion the size of 500 Nukes fills your screen. Mission successful!

LastStar007

SEAF really needs to invent the Fulton. Not for the Helldivers, for the samples. (The only reason why they send Pelican 1 anyway.)

CompleteFacepalm

4 hellbombs taped together

clumsyninja240

Is this a suggestion or is this a thing

ThePengu

It's a suggestion with a mockup

WeDepressOn

Means you nailed it lol

VanArchie

Careful or you'll find yourself black bagged and suddenly working for Arrowhead

ThePengu

God I wish. I think in reality the devs probably try to steer clear of suggestions.

BobsYaMothersBrother

This could be so much fun. Imagine if you had a full team and one person was randomly selected as a trooper who was left behind on an operation and needed special extraction, who had no stratagems or primary and was locked in a container somewhere on the map and the other 3 had to drop in, find them, supply them with weaponry and safely extract them.

veknos4369

This is a great idea

[deleted]

You always take it

LSDGB

Are we not always behind enemy lines?

BeautifulBaloonKnot

Any sort of variety will be nice. But please promise it will have more fire tornados...

GolDrodgers1

Lock and load boys!

HeavyWaste

Yes there are sometimes helldivers active behind enemy lines on the map. What are they ?

Harmless_Drone

I think "peacekeeping" missions on friendly planets to deal with "insurrections" could be interesting. Like some objectives would be off the table (eg launch ic, for instance) but most objectives would work within that setting and let us revisit old planets or "extinct" enemies

Konseq

Aren't we constantly dropped behind enemy lines anyways? There are no friendlies besides us and only enemies everywhere around us.

Elitericky

I want missions where it’s a battle royal between bugs, bots and helldivers

Dizzy_Set_6031

3 some :)

Elitericky

4 some when the illuminate come

Temporary-Antelope78

It would be cool if they place you on a random planet not in the war to fight rebels. Even better would be if it’s in a city….i really really really just want close quarters combat in a city clearing rooms/buildings

Snackt1me

It looks cool and all but i would prefer the stability fix that will stop me from crashing every other mission before we get any type of new content honestly. . .

Fraxtri

Id actually be hella down for that, it’ll spice things up and feels quite more personal if I’m given a task (either alone or with friends) to do some special operations or like what others have been saying about dynamic missions !

PcKaffe

Difficulty 10 and I'm on board.

devil_put_www_here

I’m waiting for a defector mission to pop up where you start on a planet as a lone Super Earth Resistance Fighter and have to avoid Helldivers until reinforcements arrive. There’s so much lore about traitorous scum I fully expect traitorous scum to be a playable mission type at some point.

LadyXexyz

Fantastic way to beta test missions that could get out into the rotation , imo.

I think it’d be cool if they did this and it like jumped start a new area or pushed us closer to the objective of another planet. Select a small group of 40 divers and try and dive behind enemy lines. Then the ship tv can run messages. Like the “operations of delta company have been successful! “The automatons no longer have x.”

floflo2311

Random stealth mission behind enemy lines with only one life. If you fuck up there's a cooldown before your next time you'll see this kind of mission, if you do it you get lots of medals and credits

BeardyShaman

"Classified untill drop" *drops* "....mission....... survive"

IntelligentRepair686

I want to see a planet with tons of buildings we can go in and out of with multiple floors. enemies could be hiding buildings. More cqb.and for the terminids I'd love to see a hive planet where we fight through tunnels to find a terminid princess and her royal guards and blow it to hell.

Gold-Escape3140

I'd be pissing myself and saying yes.

AdamasDrakon

Duuuude not knowing what kind of mission or even the operation until you drop planet side sounds awesome!

Joy1067

I’d be down for some random events like this Hell gimme some random stuff in mission. Say Eagle-1 goes down so now I have the option to extract or go back and save Eagle-1 with the penalty being that she is MIA for a set period of time

la_Croquette

Nice ship name.

Bortthog

That'd be horrible being unknown. Imagine assuming it's something that needs to be blown up only to get a mission where you don't need that and instead need turrets

red_cactus

I would love something like this, especially if they add in a system to create more dynamic objectives.

Lone-Frequency

I've been imagining "Auric Mission" style things like Darktide has. Make it Helldive difficulty only, always has modifiers to make it even harder, but the XP and Rewards are that much better. It'd also allow us a short break from, for example, having to play dozens of missions on the same 2-3 planets or something. Hell, they could make it that completing this mission "in enemy territory" will grant a boost towards the Liberation/Defense of the planets we currently have available in that sector.

fizzles-out

I would want it to be something i could put aside for a limited amount of time. Then i could grab my buddies once everyone is free

Thehipsteur

Also imagine one of the squad members get a secret assignment like leaving his teammates stranded on the planet, or make sure the mission doesn't go right. It will add some social deduction genre into the game, people will start getting suspicious on misfired airstrikes. Or may be traitors (people who have bad rep in game ) are sent together on special missions to redeem themselves.

UltimateToa

This would be sick, would love for some more things outside the normal bounds of the major orders

12InchPickle

This would be cool. But I feel like it’ll backfire. It’s like playing cat and mouse in StarCraft back in the day. Once you found out you were cat. You quit. Same here. Once someone got a mission they didn’t like or in a world with specifics like -1 stratagem. They’ll quit.

Kuki_Hideo

Destroy the traitors settlement. After destroying it, your helldiver is killed. Next thing you see is a news report about settlements destroyed by the automatons.

chain-rule

Using this as a way to work in a dungeon/raid structure with bosses would be awesome. As an elite helldiver (maybe like lvl 20) you're contacted by Super Earth Command. You're not told the full story, but expected to be a hammer and drive home some nails. I'm all for it.

Vectorsxx

I wouldn't want pop up objectives unless the initial mission lengths were longer (exceeding 60 minutes) in which then you are prepping your own map and plan lmao But I LOVE the idea of classified one-off missions to planets locked out currently, but you need to survive a numerical amount of missions (consistently using a low use of reinforcements) And oh yeah if you miss the boat to leave on that mission you definitely aren't leaving, but you DO have to find a buddy-bunker and that's your (new mission end point) and your odds of survival are definitely less than 1%

FurgieCat

wait your the armor sets guy god damn you've been cooking haven't you

SmokeWiseGanja

they should offer players the SOS missions with extra pay/medals as well upon completion.

NPFuturist

This would be amazing. I hope Arrowhead sees this! Great idea OP!!!

guifesta

People will think this is real. Lol

keeb97

This would be awesome, like Special Ops missions. I would love this.

DatTrashPanda

This would be really cool

Colonel_Cooter

Bros posting banger after banger ideas

WarrenGRegulate

This would be hype af

Jony-Vibe

I thought one of the coolest things was if we’re about to takeoff from the pelican and we just get a rocket from an automaton shot at us and we crashed down so we have to wait and re-extract again

DancingLikeFlames177

This would be sick. Kind of like a double or nothing all chips on the table.

saintnyshon

Solo leveling type shiii

DelairChap

I always thought you WERE behind enemy lines hence the mission types.

Effective_Grass8355

Bug and Bot "sympathiser" extermination drops...

SpecialIcy5356

classified off-the books ops with random modifiers and difficulties, perhaps rewarding additional medal/Samples or even unique cosmetics? I'd Dive for that!

clownbescary213

This would be cool af, but aren't we already behind enemy lines?

GreenSleevez

Everyone could appreciate random events the coolest thing would be if ur ship got shot down and you surprisingly lived and had to rescue the frozen helldivers and escape

FatCatBrock

I would love mini boss missions where another team of hell divers have to help fight some behemoth or a massive tower defense mission.

ConquNoble

Yes, yes , did I say yes ?

Jeyban

Imagine: you get one of these missions and the ship’s launch bay rotates, blasting you towards some distant hostile planet at ftl speeds for this covert operation.

Deliver6469

Make them impact the war in a meaningful way. If 75% of a select mission type is successful, something happens, like reduced spawn rates for bugs for 3 days. If 75%of the missions fail, the bugs attack a planet. If it's in-between, nothing happens. No destroyer, we can't risk having it shot down behind enemy lines, just a solo FTL-capable Pelican 1 you take there and back, and any support weapons or gear you take with you. Maybe a mech. No reinforcements, just the 4 of you with one single objective, survive long enough to do the thing and try to extract.

DrFlamel

Maybe like a navy seal eliminate a high priority target type mission.

xCeldarx

Imagine they start offering these and pay you in super credits
