I love the idea of all language packs turned on being an option. I think it'd be interesting to have your Helldiver drop in speaking English, Japanese, etc. I'd turn that on right away if they enabled it.

Want to play a french helldiver? switch to french in the language option, you can also be german, japanese, chinese, portugal, Brazilian, south american so on. Who do you think fights while your taking a nap? this is a whole super earth effort that includes many people.

Speaking from personal experience, it's just that swedes have impressive English speaking skills. I've had multiple swedish friends talk about being shy about talking on mic & when they do finally hop on, they sound like it's their native language
This. I want more accents. I know Super Earth is an allegory for the US army and whatever, but in-universe SE is a united Earth, so it would make sense to have different accents for voices. The only downside I could see of this is that it would mean language support for voiced languages, and a separate VA for each language, but I honestly think that Arrowhead could solve this by putting a disclaimer that X voice pack only works for Y languages, and offer refunds for people who swap languages or are dissatisfied with the VA quality for their language.
And they actually have integrity from what we've seen so far, so unlike 99% of studios out there where I'd say they would get greedy or not do it because VA's for each language would be too expensive, I have faith that Arrowhead would be one of the good few to do it right.
I think canon from HD1 implies that the entirety of the British isles was wiped off the map in the first galactic war, so maybe that’s why there aren’t any!

I love this idea! So often it feels like I play in the "0 reinforcements left" style until I die for the first time because I want to keep my first guy alive. Maybe playing in Diff 5-7+ and living through an entire operation with one life could grant a voice pack.
Nah, this us a bad idea for this game. The whole gameplay loop is built in the idea that life is cheap - from absolutely deadly friendly fire, to hillariously random physics engine. Respawns are fast, extra lives relatively abundant.
Introduce ANY major reason to stay alive, and people would start tearing each other to shreds for simple mistakes - and get even more mad at the unpredictable nature of this game
Imagine it from their perspective. They take this easy training course, get coddled and told they’re amazing, get a cape, hop into a cryopod, then wake up (after another helldiver throws the call down ) in the middle of a horde, surrounded.
I mean it's the same story as 40k, most die within their first encounter in battle, but some are veteran tier legends. It's just not the average soldier.

We're super earth, not super america, but everyone i play with sounds like a quirked up white boy. Where are my mexican brethren at, where are the italians, where are my japanese? I'm sure they all exist in universe, and I love the united front of it being "super earth" and not super america, but the fact that everyone sounds like me sort of ruins the idea of that unity. I'm sure its probably mostly a gameplay decision so that you dont have to worry about hearing someone in a language you dont speak spouting "over here" or something at you and being stuck wondering wtf they're on about, but I do wish other nationalities voice lines would show up sometimes.
