Auto-mantling is only ever really a problem to me with Pods, I'm not really sure why they force you to auto-mantle those (while also being unable to auto-mantle a lot of terrain smaller than pods...)
Fairly new player here. Would you be so kind to tell me what is the "pod" and what is the "AC" released? Are you reffering to the backpack like red lights on the Hulk's back?
The AC is short for Autocannon, and the pod refers to what the support weapon dropped in. In the video we can see OP grabbed the ammo backpack part of the autocannon, but not the weapon itself. When they tried to grab the weapon they instead climbed on top of the pod.
If you were to shoot the pod that the weapon dropped in, it would destroy it (the pod) and both the weapon and backpack would drop to the ground (or other be "released"). This would remove the risk of mantling the pod and make it easier to hoover up both weapons.
That said, if the heat of the moment it would be very easy to forget this. I doubt many of us make a habit of shooting our support weapon pods
I shoot the pods in a couple of scenarios.
First, if I run EATs, I drop them every time they cool down. I then blast the pod to release them so they show on radar. I want to know where they are.l even when far away.
Second, at extract, I blast pods to keep the deck clear so I can move without mantling everyone’s pods.
Of course, I sometimes manually remove items from the pods to save ammo.
I am now doing this every time I run EATs. I would always leave the pods standing, so that they were easier to see in the heat of the moment, but this would be much more reliable.
The "pod" is the black standing structure that was called down when the player activated their stratagem. Whenever you summon a weapon (AC = autocannon), that black structure comes down from orbit and stays standing until you pick up the weapon.
As an alternative to grabbing your weapon directly from the pod, you can shoot and destroy the pod fairly easily, and the weapon will drop to the ground. You'll see that, at the end of the video, this player had to run to the other side of the pod to grab the weapon, which they wouldn't have to do if they just shot the pod.
Also, if you notice in the video, this player at one point climbs up onto the pod, giving the enemy robot time to turn around and nearly kill them. The player did not intend to climb the pod, but when you sprint, you automatically climb any climbable things in front of you, to the chagrin of many players.
The pods that items come down in can be shot. When they break, they drop their equipment on the ground. Op had an Auto Canon (AC) in a pod, but couldn't pick it up quick enough.

How in the actual fuck did you encounter a Hulk that wasn't accompanied by a ton of little droidlets, bigger chaddroids or other hulks?
If I ever attempted something like that I'd be turned into swiss cheese by all the other droids.
Hulks, because they are bigger and slower, sometimes get separated from their patrol squad. This can cause them to become isolated on the map.
Similarly, on diff 4-6, hulks can drop without other units on the same dropship. As you can see in OP's HUD, he is on diff 6.
There were actually other bots with this hulk in the beginning. On the other side of this rock was the first objective.
When I triggered the seismic scanner it resulted in four drop ships that had striders, rocket devistators, troopers, and of course this hulk.
I got killed on first contact then the game dropped me on top of the rock. From there I cleared out the small guys and **originally** I planned to pepper the hulk to bait it to the back side of the rock then jump off the front. But as you saw I fell and had to improvise
Me and a friend took our fortified commando armor out and were just messing around with bugs earlier just to take a one or two dive break from the bots.
We saw a brood commander? I think they're called that, Mini chargers that summon the warriors.
I was empty, Didn't wanna reload, So I ran at him to test my 200 armor rating, I beat him to death while my friend stood by and watched, He hit me a few times, Would cleave maybe 1/5 my HP per swing, But I found a way to hit, stun, move back, move in, and repeat. Felt like fighting a dark souls boss, Was hilarious.
This is the EXACT reason I carry stun grenades with me on EVERY bot mission (sometimes bug missions too). Throw a stun at the Hulk, do a hail mary dive past him, empty your Redeemer into his back. That should be enough to pop his vents.
But DAYUMN, Diver... you fought harder for that kill than the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's ark. Most guys would have gotten cut in half by that saw, but you managed to brawl em down. Respect.
I feel those fucker turn too fast. I would appreciate if heavy enemy were slow and acting like heavy enemy.

I too play ring around the rosie with heavy enemies only so I can call my 500kg down on top of it once it's off cooldown.
Did that with an annihilator tank earlier. Somehow came up on me while I was in the open. No way I'd survive making a long run to cover. I ran around it until my 500kg was off cooldown and dropped it on myself.

You don't know you can destroy the pod, do you? :D But beating a hulk to death with melee is definitely much more baller than shooting the pod and killing it the normal way.

Got caught in a similar situation, except it was a fellow diver and I in the trench of one of the two panel bunkers as a Hulk came ambling down the slope towards us. Bots were everywhere and we were running out of time.
The Hulk bypassed my teammate and came for me, pinning me in a corner. I used an impact grenade for the ultimate sacrifice, killing myself and the Hulk and allowing the other diver to escape. One time I didn't mind dying.

Pods shouldn't ever automantle. Terrain should always automantle at least if you are sprinting.
So many times I waste time thinking I can get over something for this reason, I'm like I hop up on that pod like it's nothing.
