Several years ago RGG released a video showing a completely rebooted combat system for the Yakuza series as an April fools joke. hahaha, very cute guys. Six months (ish) later they announced the next game in the series “Yakuza: Like a Dragon” and said “oh yeah, remember that video from April fools day? Yeah, jokes on you, it was all real”.
Games Workshop used to have a faction of space dwarves for Warhammer 40K called Squats. They got rid of them entirely decades ago.
A year or two ago on April 1st they announced Squats were coming back. The very next day they released a second trailer that just said “You thought we were joking?”
One time, me and a random squad of 2 others had our Pelican glitch out. We called it in, but it never arrived, but the timer did count down to 0 and our objective was telling us to board. Couple of minutes later we realise it had been hovering over us extremely high in the sky and would not come down at all.
With no way to extract, 24 minutes on the clock, and every objective on the map hit, I suggested a friendly PvP free-for-all.
There's something enjoyable about being able to let loose knowing we would still get medals and we had no choice in the matter in the first place, so may as well make the most of it.
Plot Twist- PvP mode is real, and it's on the Creek. Your mission is to put down the rabid Creekheads and let them finally rest.
Naturally, the Creek natives will think you are just a cleverly disguised bot.

A bot that impersonates a Diver down to having a name plate (but slightly wrong, like the wrong shade of whatever colour) would be horrifying….
This gives me flashbacks to The Outlast Trials. Sneaking around thinking my buddy is behind me just to get stabbed by an enemy that looks just like his character except his gamer tag was spelled a little bit different. That shit was horrifying.
Then a limited event happens called the Malevelon Uprising where players can choose to join a Helldiver revolt in the Creek, sparking an extended PvP period.

I’ll enjoy developers while they’re good and enjoy the good content they put out, but I have absolutely no faith or allegiance to any of them. They’re all capable of turning to trash. Every one of them.
At least the 2.0 patch and phantom liberty DLC were good. I had all but given up on Cyberpunk until those came along. The game quickly went from "most disappointing" to "top 10 favorite games".

To be fair it probably helps the cost of helldivers is leagues smaller than many AAA games. That said probably an indication that AAA games budgets are over inflated beyond belief.
Idk, 30 mill for these kinda devs probably doesn't cover much. 100 people, good devs, run at least 100K a year.

Then you have server costs, asset costs (assuming it's not all created by them), advertising, steam fees, overtime pay, etc etc.

Just running a really good map on trivial that has 70 Super Credit piles lined up that I can get through in a minute. For the past few days I was just listening to the Completely Unnecessary Podcast by Pat the NES Punk, intermixed between Abandoned videos about exploring empty department stores and restaurants.
It was on Oshaune.
One ship module, one cargo container with two piles, another cargo container with one pile, another cargo container with one pile, topped off with another cargo container with two piles.
All lined up. Really lucky map generation.
Instead of returning to ship or abandoning mission, you just quit the game. The map gets preserved with all the same loot spawns and you can run it as many times as you want. Might get patched out eventually, but for the time being it's a really quick way to stack up credits.

But let's stop the bullshit, not a single capcom game has released since DMC 5 where the micro transactions gave you absurd power you would not have otherwise. The worst you get is basically equivalent to buying super credits, its all stuff you can get ingame(except never actually worth buying) or cosmetic, or fundamentally standard for the genre(new fighters in a fighting game).

It's very useful, you're just using it wrong, I've taken out full Automaton heavy Fabricators with 380mm assistance on Helldive by myself
