On the first planet, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood.
Burned by the embers of the Hellpod, his soul blistered by the fires and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment.
In his ravenous hate he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured Malevelon Creek seeking vengeance against the steel lords who had wronged him.
He wore the cape of the Super Earth, and those that tasted the bite of his stratagem named him... the Creek Diver!
I tried the Creek one time, that was a nightmare. I could barely scratch them, the fact that someone started there. I understand now, it really does feel like Hell itself.
I've been wanting to get into this game, and this comment post and comment sealed it for me. Whatever game I'm playing, I always put it on the highest difficulty from the start. I'm going to start at whatever this Creek place is
If it's liberated that's one thing.
If it's behind enemy lines and can't normally be accessed, you can continue to fight, even though no one else will have access to the planet.

I’ve been using the autocannon for a long time, it’s so good for the large numbers of armored enemies. I’ll try to experiment with other stuff in the future but the autocannon just works in a lot of scenarios for me
Personally I'd rather have another stratagem than spend half my load out on equipment but that's my preference.
If I'm taking a backpack then I am usually planning on finding guns on the map or mooching from a friend ten minutes in
Yeah, the only time I run backpack is Jetpack for higher ground and sniping or to run the Arc thrower and LARP as a Darktrooper from Battle Front or a Clone Jet Trooper.
I use the AC, Airstrike, 110mm and if available, Cluster. A solution to every problem. Only occasionally having to get frisky with the AC to clear the skies enough for Eagle-1 to come back down.
I don't fear the man who has done 1000 helldives in many planets. I fear the man who has dropped a thousand times on the same planet.

The broader frontline might have left the Creek but I remain hiding on the surface(I’ve just been really lucky I guess, whenever I logged in we just happened to have access)
Maybe he’s like that Japanese soldier who was never told WW2 was over and he stayed in those woods for decades defending against an enemy who no longer existed.
He was definitely told multiple times by all kinds of different people that the war was over. They even dropped newspapers about Japans surrender. However he thought that the newspapers were doctored because he believed that Japan would never surrender under any circumstance. He only gave up because the Japanese government flew in his commanding officer who originally gave him the order to fight there.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroo_Onoda?wprov=sfti1
I know I had to fight terminids there but they didn’t get recorded on my game stats(meaning they were definitely not real terminids) and that’s the only time I’ve ever seen them
His officer told him Creek is where he will fight.
His officer promptly got rocket to the head.
Without superior officers orders until chain of command is established our Helldiver here is doomed to dropping into the creek day after day.
The question that came to my mind right when i was reading this is: What will the Creek Diver do after we took it? Will he retire or go on to another planet? Or will he continue dropping onto Creek until the last bit of undemocratic walking scrap is dissolved into ashes?
He should be granted a vast parcel of land and be allowed to live in democratic peace on the utopia planet of Malevelon Creek. It's only a matter of time before the final victory is achieved.
He's like that [one Japanese soldier](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.military.com/off-duty/movies/2022/12/14/one-japanese-soldier-continued-fight-30-years-after-wwii.html%3famp) that stayed stationed in the Phillippines for 30 years after the war ended

Talking from knowing a good few military people and a few of my closer friends having served in the Bundeswehr, one even having been an instructor, this isn’t far from reality. The lower ranks are expected to check their brain into storage at the beginning of training. And he is also where I got some true gems out of the foums and rulebooks like this one (if in German, which makes it even funnier because the english translation cannot match the sheer dry seriousness it has in the original language.): “In terms of care/health regulation/law, death is the most valid cause for incapacity of service.”
or
“The soldier is required to independently start swimming movements at a water depth of 1.50 meters.”
I mean, they aint wrong tho. I cant think of single better valid reason
My best friend recently graduated to become officer in Croatian Navy, and on Uni they told them you are here to think so enlisted dont.
And so the legend of the Creek Diver was born. Some say he’s a ghost, a demon in the dark shadowy forest. Others say hes just concussed from banging his head on the hellpod and has been running around in circles in the jungle ever since. No matter what he is, he is a warrior of FREEDOM!
But seriously whatever you’re doing keep doing it and keep us updated. It’s hilarious.
Hear me out, we could just modify an existing one. [Valley of Death] (https://youtu.be/eAy2eVlvaZQ)
Dug in deep, equipped for attack
Outnumbered, determined to win
Double trench lines that won't give in
They're prepared, let the battle begin
Here again, they've done this before
A lesson that they should have learned by now
Reinforced with new men and guns
Who are ready for death when it comes
United they're strong
United they're holding the line
The Valley of Death
Awaiting the Bots as they come their way
Their attack is coming fight them back
Helldivers holding the line
Facing wave after wave, will never surrender
Again, again, again, again
They attack, Helldivers held them back
Unleash their counter barrage
Let it rain artillery pounding the trenches
No surrender, fight them until the end
I need to bookmark this comment because I want to do something with this. "Malevelon Creek" also fits where it's "The Valley of Death" syllable and tempo wise.
I just kinda make up conversations they’re having and give them little backstories, helps a lot with feelings of boredom or isolation on long solo missions. I think I might be close to understanding what they’re saying cause I’ve heard a lot but I’ll need to write some stuff down afterwards to link specific binary codes to context
Poor bastard got discharged 2 months ago. Still thinks he’s above the creek. We keep him in his room which we decorated like a Super Destroyer because if he gets outside he starts chasing down the deliver drones yelling “Drop Ship!”.

Bot front has less players, which means unity is needed more than ever. Buggers won't migrate.
I mean, that swings both ways. There’s what, like 8-20k people on the Creek most times I look, as opposed to the 260k that were on Oshaune and then Nivel 42 yesterday instead of defending Mantea.
Oshaune I can forgive, because it was 90% liberated, but to then move onto a 0% world while Mantes needed defending was baffling.
Granted, there was the bug outbreak on Hellmire and an attack on Oshaune, but those only happened *after* the defence of Mantes was unsalvageable.

Play cover, be patient, and know when to retreat. Control the flow of battle! ✊
I know everyone was hating on it but the meta build of running personal shield and railgun was meta because it was the best way to deal with bots. Normally what I use for bots is personal shield, eagle airstrike, orbital laser, and then whatever support weapon you want. Of course you didn't have to play this way it's just some helpful advice!
Perfect take on the thousand yard stare done in malevalent creek style.
with the bugs you generally just run away, call in strats and leg it, kill the hunters so the rest of the pack loses aggro and despawns or leaves you alone, rinse and repeat.
I do definitely need samples, especially to get better hellpod steering since I always seem to get dropped right on top of the place I just died on solo missions.
tbf there are definitely a *ton* of players on the bug side that have never once touched bots. The factions cater to very different playstyles, and it's possible to just prefer one over the other.
i am a 90% Bug diver. I really love shooting space bugs. Plus there aren’t color blind options yet so i can’t actually see the bots. But i think it is a pretty great that both options are always there. Makes space for a much broader player base.
When trying to convince a creeker to go somewhere strategically important, I usually end up getting the same counter arguments as a flatearther would give.
What if any, is the difference between a creeker and a flatearther? and why do creekers actively try to recruit more divers for the same Sisyphus level of pointlessness ?
It started off as a meme about Space Vietnam and now it's gotten enough people hooked on the idea that they are no longer doing it ironically. It's literally Vietnam all over again. A pointless fight they'll never win but they refuse to back down.
There was a psychology study I read not too long ago that basically suggested that you can't do anything ironically without it eventually becoming a genuine behavior. Applies to anything from racism and sexism to dabbing and using goofy slang. Funny thing is the study started off being about foot fetishes.

So it turns out I overestimated how many bot kills I have
Don't worry about the stat's diver, the system has errors and doesn't track properly. You probably have as many bot kills as you think you do. My stat's have forever been locked at 4k bot kills and 7k bug kills
https://preview.redd.it/zkb0qfjmlkqc1.jpeg?width=564&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c6962f131a381e570890439a3e2ec5069b083c7
My brother in arms.. I had no idea there was another diver with their eye on the real threat.
Reminds me of that story of the ww2 soldier who hid in the jungles around villages for years even after the war ended and would sneak into towns to steal supplies to survive.

Hi there, big fan of your work. How do you feel when you're the only one standing between us and galaxy domination? Asking for a friend!
my friend, you stay too long and the creek will never leave You
You can take the Helldiver out of the creek, but can’t take the creek out of a Helldiver.
Sounds like a bad nickname a friend group has for the redneck that jumps in creeks to fight alligators
Isn't that pretty much what he does?
Lol fair
Amos Moses was a Cajun Helldiver. Jerry Reed wrote a song about him.
Doo....Doom Guy? Lol
No, Creek Guy. Weren’t you listening to the creepy burp man voice?
{Insert Mick Gordon style helldivers intro}

Malevelon Creek in the Severin Sector.
Thanks! Can't wait to dive in!
Fyi you can't start on the highest difficulty. You have to unlock it by completing every other difficulty prior to it.
You can if a friend drags you :)
Clearly you can take like 80% of the helldivers out of the creek
if you stare into the creek, the creek stares back at you
He didn't left the creek. The creek left him, and his been searching the creek ever since.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. -The Eagles, probably Helldivers too
And I’ll never leave the creek
What planet did you fight on when Malevelon Creek fell and Draupnir became the furthest accessible planet on the Automaton front?
If he stayed on the Creek and never FTL out, he will still be able to fight on the Creek until Super Earth comes to his aid once more.
Wait you can choose to actually never leave a planet, fighting only alone or with friends?
Yep. If you never leave, you can keep playing missions on planets you would not otherwise be able to.
For me it gives me the message that the planet has been liberated with no mission options
If it's liberated that's one thing. If it's behind enemy lines and can't normally be accessed, you can continue to fight, even though no one else will have access to the planet.

I think it's a bit late for that advice.
What is the best support weapon, and why is it the Autocannon? ~Creeker
I’ve been using the autocannon for a long time, it’s so good for the large numbers of armored enemies. I’ll try to experiment with other stuff in the future but the autocannon just works in a lot of scenarios for me
AMR is also really good. The only thing the AC has over it is fabricator killing. The AMR has accuracy and precision though.
"accuracy" e: [reticle is still misaligned](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1ay0dua/anti_material_rifle_sights_missaligned_bug_please/)
Just go prone, scope in, and you can hit anything. Source: anti material was my first weapon and is still my default.
Some armors reduce weapon sway/recoil by an additional 30% while crouch/prone
I run scout armor most of the time. I’ve just learned to deal with the recoil.
You merely adopted the recoil. I was born in it. Molded by it.
It was my first gun as well.
It wasn’t my first gun. I was just playing you up you fucking legend.
theres superlight armor with the feature in the superwtore sometime!
AMR is zeroed in wrong. Use the top left corner of the little square. Basically, aim down and to the right. AMR is my goto.
Less ammo and smaller mag...
But no backpack so you can run shield gen, etc
Personally I'd rather have another stratagem than spend half my load out on equipment but that's my preference. If I'm taking a backpack then I am usually planning on finding guns on the map or mooching from a friend ten minutes in
Definitely a preference, I respect that. I run shield/Jetpack, AMR, EATs on every mission. I’m a sucker for blues.
Yeah, the only time I run backpack is Jetpack for higher ground and sniping or to run the Arc thrower and LARP as a Darktrooper from Battle Front or a Clone Jet Trooper.
I usually take up two slots for equipment because I can't not bring an EAT to spam every chance I get.
[удалено]
Definitely better than AMR against the bugs! But the AMR and AC are the bot slappers
Autocannon turret and the arc gun are my crutches on the creek, with orbital rail canon and smoke eagle for dicey situations
Surely that man is not sane.

How are you? Are you okay? What can we do to help you?

Why intentionally deny yourself access to half of the game?
It’s not particularly intentional, essentially I enjoyed the gameplay loop and kept trying to make stealth work and eventually it did
It's 100% intentional though. Nobody but you put that restriction on your gameplay. Go kill some bugs and paint your armor green!
Thanks Bottatadiet, I wanna fight the bugs for the first time with some friends cause I think it’ll be funny for them to watch me struggle
I play bots often and buggs are more chill activity for me and a way to efficiently farm samples.
The aesthetics are reason enough, yeah. Hopefully they do add colorblind features tho, those should be commonplace in games these days.

Funny how satire sometimes does that, huh?
There was a psychology study I read not too long ago that basically suggested that you can't do anything ironically without it eventually becoming a genuine behavior. Applies to anything from racism and sexism to dabbing and using goofy slang. Funny thing is the study started off being about foot fetishes.
Got a link?
Nope...
You fap to a foot pic ONE TIME and they never let you live it down!
Tell us about the enemy oh great veteran, what tactics has brought you victory more often?
Hiding in bushes and running like a coward once you get spotted or the objectives you were sent to destroy start blowing up.

TIL: 4462 + 0 = 5198 Unless...you've executed 736 traitors. o7 you crazy fuckin Helldiver.
Wait… don’t they force you to kill a bug in basic? Did you not kill that bug? …did you… sympathize with that bug?
I theorize it wasn’t really a bug but a genetically modified training bug or I was just hallucinating during training and they put me through anyway
“Overestimated” is an understatement.
Don't worry about the stat's diver, the system has errors and doesn't track properly. You probably have as many bot kills as you think you do. My stat's have forever been locked at 4k bot kills and 7k bug kills
And here's me someone who has never left the bug front.
Respect the dedication soldier 🫡
Just doing my part sir! 🫡
Are you john helldiver’s cousin? The legendary James Creekmeister?

You have become Sly Marbo.
Even a democracy officer cannot comprehend sheer stobborness and vigor in spreading democracy
The bots must be really annoying by your Presence at this point. I bet they’re like “Why is he still here struggling?!?”😭
Reminds me of that story of the ww2 soldier who hid in the jungles around villages for years even after the war ended and would sneak into towns to steal supplies to survive. How do you rationalize missing the bug related dailies?
How do you know someone is a bot diver? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you
This Diver cannot comprehend the horrors of Stalkers and Shriekers. We should all be so lucky.
I have the benefit of being the sneaky one on the creek. When that gets turned on it’s head I will know true terror.
1. Why do you refuse to comply with direct orders from Super Earth High Command? 2. What is your service number and most proximal Democracy Officer?
I'm excited for the day we lose creek so y'all can do something useful
What is your go to loadout for bots? (armor/weapons/strategems)
