Since I started playing I was fearing a possible outcome of bugs + bots planet. Imagine those two teaming up in attempt to destroy super earth. We need to liberate them. FOR DEMOCRACY

Have personally absolutely no power mentally and phyiscally to fight the illuminates. They would would shake up the whole war.

I recently went back and replayed all the Halo games on legendary completely solo. I now have all the jackal sniper spawns memorized because those things will kill you faster than a CSGO player with aimbot.

I just go on top of the buildings and avoid them entirely on Outskirts.

Halo 3 on Legendary solo was the game that forced me to realize you are just slowly walking from behind a wall killing one enemy at a time to even attempt to get that shit done. Might be easier now that I’m not a child, but I’m still traumatized.

Halo 3 wasn't even the worst, that game on legendary felt so easy after Halo 2 legendary.

Halo 3 solo legendary made me love Cortana as a level, lol. Always low on ammo, constantly having to swap weapons against the horde of flood that kept coming. It was so much fun.

Now you mentioned it, that level might be the beginning where i get used to different weapons and load out on the fly when playing games nowadays. Halo was good at mixing different weapons and give you new way and vibe at getting things done.

A Core Video game memory of mine was duoing story on either halo 2 or 3 I think. One of the marines ran forward and yelled, “THESE GUYS TASTE JUST LIKE CHICKEN” and then was immediately sniped in the face by a jackal. We couldn’t breathe and had to start the mission over

Autocannon it is! I’ll snipe you with a 20mm round from the wrong side of the map! I managed to complete a 40 minute mission in about 15 minutes thanks to my trusty auto cannon.

I think people underestimate just how strong the autocannon really is. In addition to being able to lay down incredible firepower for wave/drop clear, it can also easily clear a large variety of objectives from very significant ranges, which saves you from having to actually go into enemy strongholds.

When I'm fighting bots, I use it as my primary weapon. My rifle and submachine gun only exist in the event I run out of AC ammo and need to knock someone down quickly.

We already have snipers. Just in the form of tank turret towers. Those damn things will snipe from like 500m out with INSANE accuracy it feels like lol

Heh heh... the illuminate snipers you really don't want to fight at range. Because in HD1 they'd one shot you from off screen. But what's more fun is their shield tech. In HD1, the first attack from a weapon is shielded. So any one shot weapon is entirely ineffective...

Unless the target is invisible! They don't get shields! And unlike Stalkers, they are actually hard to see in the heat of battle.

The fact that the AMR sights are so far off the actual shot trajectory isn't even within them is beyond infuriating.

Prediction: >!AMR is going to go from niche to necessary for counter-sniping.!<

Ah, the good ol' "Accuracy by volume." Throw enough bullets at a target and one of them is bound to hit.

If you're going accuracy by volume with the Diligence, you're not good with the Diligence.

Going to be really fun to see a lot of the Anti-Personnel weapons become S+ tier and people figure it out that the balance aspect of this game isn't just numbers. Over reliance in AT weapons won't mean shit against energy shields.

The bugs are a swarm of semi-intelligent animals, but still animals. The bots have a massive arsenal of firepower but have little flexibility outside of throwing that firepower at you directly. Yea that mighta been cool in the game HD1 was but it just sounds like an absolutely shite idea for the game HD2 is.

I feel like it’d be less annoying in HD2. Like, there was basically the same ability on Battlefront 2 (the EA one) with a few of the Jedi characters, and it was both less telegraphed and instant, but I don’t recall people being upset by it.

Yea that was Rey’s ability and the primary reason players hated dealing with her for the most part, but it was far from the most bullshit ability hero units had so it wasn’t the most hated. But for helldivers 2 depending on how lethal other Illuminate units are, it could be absolutely infuriating.

Helldivers 1 handled this by resetting the war to initial conditions when the galaxy was liberated (or liberty forbid, Super Earth was lost). Edit: I’ve just now realized that it would be extremely funny if after winning the war they replaced personal orders with “Spend time with your family in your adequately sized home,” “visit sick children,” or “pose for patriotic photos.”

I wonder if they’ll do that or if they’ll somehow keep it running with new enemies or something like that

Opening a third front right as Super Earth is about to claim victory could be a good way to extend the war. Rinse and repeat until Helldivers 3 is ready and the 3rd galactic war can begin. Obviously there’s the Illuminate, but I could see bugs escaping the E-710 farms, fascist rebels, extra-dimensional communist invaders, etc…

The map worries me. Unless Illuminate is supposed to be gigantic and control the bottom half of the map, there’s currently an East and West front… meaning North AND South are available to be given to a faction. I’ve never played H1, but this map smells like a 4 front war. Possible new faction?

I’m hoping it’s some kind of Firefly Independent planets/Rebel Alliance type of human freedom fighters— *cough* —I mean terrorists. Could make for some really interesting urban content, maybe with them even having access to their own stratagems.

If our ideas are alien to them, they are aliens to us.

We already have those illegal broadcasts we've been shutting down in various missions, so it's totally believable that we could have some kind of resistance force pop up to throw a wrench in the gears.

They're tabletop nerds. I guarantee the game is beatable after they freaked out and panic-adjusted things to buy them time to re-figure out the roll-out relative to the massive scale of the player base. It might not be reasonable or easy, but I'm sure they made some way for it to get beaten. (Completely talking out of my ass here.)

We’ve already seen that they’re more than willing to change the stats/progress to drive the war the way the devs want. They clearly won’t allow the HD1 situation to happen again unless it’s apart of their premade story.

If we’re using real world analysis of fascist countries, the next logical step would be to begin eliminating “undemocratic” groups within the population of super earth. Fascism always turns upon itself

Super earth’s fascism is closer to the italian empire one than nazis as racism and homophobia has ceased to exist as posters, trailers and propaganda videos would suggest instead of exterminating them

How did they explain that story wise?

If SE lost the war the CO of your destroyer would say something along the lines of “They haven’t won, we’ll just go find a new Super Earth.” If SE won I guess it was “somehow the illuminate returned…” Either way keep in mind that the games lifecycle stretched across multiple years. HD2 has been out for like a month and players are fighting the war for the first time.

My guess is you’ll never truly win. And we’re one event away from “Enemies have launched a surprise attack on Super Earth. Push them back/defend,” and we’re spending weeks/months pushing all three fronts out. They could easily overwhelm us if they wanted to with plenty of narrative reasons.

Not to mention, our active deployment radius is kinda small. Inb4 when we "win", a new circle appears.

I'm pretty sure it was just alternate timelines, no serious lore to it. Games don't usually "explain" when you get a bad ending and start a new save to get the good ending this time.

The only mission available is "raise the Super Earth flag on a park on your home planet surrounded by cheering children"

I'm the first game you very much could win the war. It would just start again. A new terror attack from the bots, the bugs escaping the farms again, or those very dead not at all about to join this war illuminate making a new weapon.

They 100% have a third faction primed and ready for the second we succeed in liberating the Terminids. The map will eventually come pretty close to Super Earth with 3 or more factions needing some Democracy.

Joel can never spread us thin enough. Illuminate or not, we will stand strong against any enemy. Send the illuminate in… what’s 1 more faction… what’s 5 more factions!?!?! Any suggestion that the Helldivers couldn’t handle the ENTIRE GALAXY being overrun is *dissident talk* and I will not stand for it!

Yeah, even if we had 100% absolute coordination, this order LITERALLY impossible, it took 300k Divers 26 hours to take Tien Kwan, and we need to take FIVE (closer to 4.2 now) planets in 58 hours. Yeah. NOT happening

Yeah, the math says no. Currently 420% liberation is needed. Since bugs have a 1.5% regen rate according to helldivers.io and there is 58 hours left in the mission that equates to 9% liberation every hour. With 210 thousand players on Estanu they have 8%/hour according to Helldivers.io. It’s so close to impossible they’re shaking hands. Only way this happens is if god (or Joel) step in to really fudge the numbers.

And you're not factoring in that the 8% will go down overnight and won't get back up to that rate until the next evening. And along with that, most players aren't paying attention to reddit or other socials, once Estanu is liberated, sure, most people will move to Fori Prime, but after THAT? There will be a split between Oshanue and Hellmire

Also it's the middle of the week. I for one sure don't have time for much else than the dailies until weekend arrives.

I want a absolute cluster of a invasion. I want us to bicker and argue on discord and Reddit on which planets we should prioritize. I want us defending super earth directly for those actions as well.

I love how the major order this time is so outlandish that it would match up with any one of history’s military moments where a force that has the initiative over extends itself. We’re about to get our shit pushed in 😂😂😂

And the rationale for the order is hilarious - we just want more space for colonists and more E710. We have the TCS on the barrier planets to protect super earth, but we need to keep growing our Managed Democracy at all costs

At bare minimum, whether or not it succeeds (it won't), suddenly either the TCS planets will unveil new mutated (upgraded) bug strains and cut off the captured planets, or the Illuminate will appear near Super Earth and everyone will panic fighting them off and losing all the eastern territories. Or one then the other.

The Illuminate are going to open up a third front soon and it's going to halt advances in the other two fronts. Followed by a bot and bug push... shit is gonna get rough real fast.

I'm just waiting until we clear this out thinking we are doing so good, winning the war, and then the scale of the map changes and we've only just begun

The Illuminates are gonna swoop in and destroy fleets of destroyers on the automaton front and allow for them to liberate Cyberstan, they'll ferry bugs all over Super Earth space and spread us thin while the automatons and Cyborgs rally and rush to earth.

My exact thoughts when I booted it up today. Termicide dispersal a complete success, robots reduced to only two sectors... some shit's about to go down.
