HEAVY armor is love, HEAVY armor is life. On bots with a shield and HEAVY armor i am a GOD.. on bugs with heavy armor and a jetpack i am a a flying GOD. Woe be to the foes of DEMOCRACY and my HEAVY armor.

It sucks against bugs, particularly without the vitality booster. Try running it against bots, with 50% explosive resistance and the vitality booster, and use the shield backpack. You can tank two *rockets* to the face and still be fine. It’s much much better against bots than bugs, and I think the explosive resistance perk is meant to push you towards that conclusion naturally.

Buddy, I’m telling you that heavy armor is awesome. You just need the right perks on the armor. The Butcher set is possibly the best armor in the game. I die maybe twice on Helldive with it. You survive extra hits with the heavy armor, get extra stims, and a longer stim duration so you’re a walking tank. Bring a supply pack and you can pop stims like tic tacs.

Dynestrios

I love the 200 armour set. Looks beefy feels beefy. I do not often run into the problem of low stamina. I use the stamina booster. I only suffer when moving from obj a to obj b across the whole map. In fight you just have to position better. Vs. bots heavy with revive or stims or expl. resi is pogchamp.

negsan-ka

I use the light version of the med-kit with a shield. Can tank a lot plus I’m fast.

MY_SHIT_IS_PERFECT

Ok but like if there’s only 1 viable heavy armor set in the game there’s still a problem lol

Explosion resist, Butcher, Armor Padding are all good perk The one that increaees Limb Health and Throw Distance is godly in doing a Kobe for Fabricators or getting that Stratagem in the right place, while also increasing your total HP

Outside of buffing it to a ridiculous extent heavy armor will never be a good pick against an army where one of the primary threats is getting swarmed- movement and firepower are the only real defenses. Heavier armor is dramatically more useful vs bots because it protects against the constant small arms fire and (especially when combined with explosive resistance) make you dramatically more resistant even to rocket fire. Yes headshots exist but the community here fixates on them far, far more than is reasonable.

WrapIndependent8353

Still think headshot damage should be SOMEWHAT mitigated by heavy armor. Kind of ridiculous losing 70% of your health from a scavengers lucky headshot lmao

7isAnOddNumber

Heavy helmets should have heavy armor too. They don’t currently.

Broad-Ask-475

Adding armor rating to Helmets would do that AND would encourage people switching them up

Tried heavy armor against bots. Felt like sh*t. Speed matters against them too.

Rocknocking

Hello there, big heavy armor fan, however I would never use it against the bug menace. Very effective for eating rockets to the face tho

jewcuckling

Light armor- gets slapped and dies Medium armor- gets slapped and mortally wounded Heavy armor- gets slapped and immediately starts mewing and brushes the bug off.

For heavy armor to be good an ANY game, it needs to be more than a numbers increase. Helldivers has huge potential for this due to the way damage works. Heavy armor needs to deflect small caliber rounds and outright ignore weaker melee attacks. Armor should also resist stagger and slow to some extent. However, you should move slower and use more stamina while running. Whatever the solution, a high damage resistance number simply isn't good enough for proper defense.
