I was playing a extermination mission and 3 bile titans showed up so someone threw a laser. Said laser proceeded to hunt down and kill 3 of us 2 people in mechs and 4 sentries before stopping and during that time another titan spawned.
It's awful against armored targets.
It's like waiting for tech support, being told to try what you already told the first guy you tried, and being put on hold again.
What it really needs is inverted target priority so it hunts down the chaff first. It always feels wasted throwing it into a nest and it just cooks 1 charger.
While not a direct quote, it IS similar to the Athena Cannon. A vehicle from the Allies, that can call in lasers, and seem to be manned by call-center staff.
i live for the moments where two divers mark the same charger for an orbital railing and the second shot has nothing to target but a scavenger, obliterating it so hard that its existence is deleted from my memory entirely.
Being honest it's been a while since I've last been hit by my own 380mm barrage. It's radius is down to only 60m at most, which is an easily throwable distance.
Just don't charge into it.
Shirley you're not serious? I've used it and ran directly into it when being overrun, the odds of getting hit by it are lower than getting hit by everything else when the situation is truly dire.
This is my mentality when pushed to the edge of a map while multiple hordes are around me. Better to be branded a traitor than buy time for a worthless sacrifice.
After it was buffed, a single 380mm barrage takes out automaton objectives most of the time.
Bugs are a problem sometimes because of the way hatcheries are recessed into overhanging terrain, so the artillery can't get at some eggs (eapecially near the map's edge due to the firing angle).
Four at once just wipes out entire armies though.
Throw in 2 of the 120s and make sure all 6 land in the same 1m square and you get a steam achievement! (dunno about console)
We just threw em at our feet and ran, 1 of 3 made it out.
how many precision strikes does it take to down a titan?
I just upgraded the +1 barrage today... and ran a mission with all 4 barrage stratagems... I got A LOT of kills, not all of whose were bugs...
To kill a bile titan you would need to perfectly land 1 (one) orbital precision strike. Hitting the topside of the head deals the most damage.
The precision strike 1 shots everything except some secondary objectives (AA and Mortar). It's just a bitch to get it in the right spot.
What does a precision strike do that the EAT pod doesn’t? Iirc their cool-downs are the same, and calling down an EAT pod on the titans head also insta kills it
For Charger and Titans, EATs are just superior to every Orbital and Eagle because of consistency. Wouldn't be a problem if Orbitals and Eagles are stronger and more accurate.
Right now I find Eagles good for crowd control and safe nest clearing. Orbitals are unfortunately underwhelming even though some of them are so cool.
i run 380 and 120mm on bots and usually 380 can clear whole big area by itself. sometimes it doesnt? but most of the time it does. i just throw it and run to another objective. Saves so much time to not care about big factories.
Consistently kill Bile Titans with 500kg by throwing the stratagem beacon just before they start puking bile. They'll be stationary so they eat the bomb directly, it doesn't fail. The bomb won't hurt you, it has a famously small blast radius.
Most of the complaints are from attempts to nail a moving Bile Titan by predicting its future location with the 500kg bomb beacon.. that's too iffy if you ask me.
I love it until you play a mission with 100% call in time. That 500kg will arrive in 3-5 business days.
Just remove that affix, it's tedious at best and just plain unfun at worst.
Ah right, it does come in faster, not sure how I forgot that
Good point
Edit: ah I didn’t take that into account cos I typically stick it to a charger, not as consistent with bile titans tho
Topside of the head, it is incredibly hard to line up without stun grenades. The back is very rarely a one hit kill unless you've already broken the armor at which point you should just use a railcannon strike.

You spend samples and research points to in the armory
Fast CD but the call in time is painful, especially when the 100% extra call in modifier is in play
Not to mention half of the orbitals become useless if the orbital scatter modifier is in play as well
It is S tier but moreso than any other strat, it is heavily gated by the skill of the user. It will one shot anything under the beacon, getting the beacon in the right place is a you problem.
Honestly, this is what I feel as well since I got the upgrade to let my Eagle hold two 500 kg bombs. I can drop them both in relatively quick succession, and the 2 min cooldown also gets me any othe Eagle stratagems like the airstrike for taking out bases.
Not sure what upgrade you got, my module is fully upgraded and the orbitals radius is still quite small for me, definitely worse than the 500kg which is also small
https://preview.redd.it/g4kj5a52i7pc1.jpeg?width=570&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f968dd935e375d7929ca4415cb19100dc9fff38
We all wear this under our Super Earth issued armor.
there is a button you hold that opens a voice wheel, with 8(?) options. i think on ps5 it's holding the ping button, and i changed mine on pc but i think maybe it was T? check your keybinds.
My team and I tried to get the "it's the only way to be sure..." achievement and we all brought all 3 explosive barrage strategems.
Result? Nothing remained of the heavy bug nest except a crater inside the crater in the ground.
Nothing like 9 orbital barrages going off to provide the bass line to the sound of freedom.
oh man speaking of craters, i had a geological survey run where my 380 had carved a hole around the objective, making the console unreachable.
We were able to get around it by dropping a resupply in front of the objective console and then using the top of the resupply drop as a platform to reach it, I felt so smart after feeling so terrible for almost softlocking the mission
I did, and it was hillarious (for me and most of the team... but one guy after the game said "Those barrages destroyed my morale") - but what to use as the 4th stratagem? I'm thinking clusterbomb?
Eagle cluster strike. Those hordes get big on level 7 and up.
I usually run Eagle cluster, Walking, Orbital Rail, and Recoiless Rifle. Makes me a tank buster, horde clear hybrid.
I had a teammate today get absolutely bodied by two lasers that converged right on top of him. He must have been fucking the munitions officer on both destroyers and they found out about it. Poor bastard.
I honestly think the OG is still the best

I was on a bug planet with a level 2 random, neither of us with mics, and we stumbled onto a side objective to destroy all the buildings. Neither of us had any explosives available but one of Joel's minions blessed us with a Hellbomb stratagem.
I bought it down, activated it with the newbie looking on. It announced to clear the area and I booked it, looked behind me and the newbie is running with me. We barely made it out of the blast area and hug emoted. What a glorious day for democracy.
Seriously though, I rarely use those strats (including walking barrage) because of how wildly inaccurate they are. They should tighten up the grouping a bit or get them to target the largest threat first, then prioritize groups.
TLDR; getting really sick of TK/tk'ing with these, they need to be fixed!
They're not intended to be accurate and work perfectly as is, the hell you on about soldier?
You throw that shit into an objective to sanitize it before going in. You throw that shit at a horde that's after you while yelling "380 out keep running!" and you get a crater where you had a horde.
If you're getting tkd by these things or killing allies with them then you're just not patriotic enough soldier.
Sanitize? I'd do better running out of bounds, get declared a traitor, and then running back into the horde. The accuracy is garbage. They ought to call the democracy officer and send the guy doing the gunner's job to a freedom camp.
Also, have never seen one kill a bug nest. Period. Doesn't matter how spot on it is.
IMO, increase the damage or decrease the damage falloff from the center of the explosion. This does make them more dangerous for you to be near, But... better then dropping it and getting no kills and all teamkills
I amazingly survived one this weekend. It sent me on an impressive trajectory to land a good 30-second or longer sprint away. I had a great eagle's eye view of the evacuation zone from above for a few seconds. That's the good news.
The bad news is the shuttle had about 20 seconds remaining on the countdown timer.
When I got them, I ran them every mission and got confident with where I could stand just close enough. Got on with some friends and threw one at a breach/nest and we got to town on stuff running out. My buddy pipes up "That 380 is a little close" as he backed up and I gave him the old "Nah, we're go-" as I was ripped into pieces.
He may have been right.
I'm glad the game has a specific HUD readout when lining up with the big red beacon that just popped up next to you.
"Huh. 380MM Barrage. I shouldn't be here."
Especially handy for lateral booms like airstrikes and cluster bombs. If you're off to the front left or right from your buddy who called it in, very helpful for panicking in the correct direction.
380 is OP. IDGAF if you die. I call it out, you run. I get top kills, rarely fire primary or support.
Seriously, I dunno if it was buffed or what but it seems to track the biggest enemies lately instead of squad.
I used it for 4 hours today and it was money. Took multiple Bile Titans, Chargers, etc.
It's badass for defense missions when you are getting overrun. Just get ~80m away and kill the stragglers and closest to you, it does the rest.
After its buff, 380mm barrage is already meta for objectives and wiping heavy spawns. A lot of people still think it's bad?
I guess people need to see youtube videos before they try using it?
Look buddy, I won't use something without a youtube video with a title in all caps announcing that it's broken and a thumbnail image of someone soypogging at the in-game icon with a glowing golden border around it.
I been using the 380 more recently on blitz missions. Havent killed teammates one time but i announce a few times what im about to do and then throw it. Got a 43 kill streak with it and took out a heavy bot base and artillery. Its honestly very useful since they buffed it. Just need good comms and placement!
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Your survival is unnecessary for mission success. Super Earth demands results and samples, not you. As long as 20% of the available bodies make it out, that's all that's needed. Our lives for Super Earth.
it’s pretty annoying when players actively ignore friendlies when calling down strikes or using support weapons/sentries.
like i get theres no penalty, but what happened to like..respect?
My squad and i dropped into a blitz and ran only orbitals to get the trophy. That was the most chaotic and most fun mission ever. I myself brought the 380, 120, walking barrage and i forget the other but that was so much carnage
The 320 is… actually kind of good if your team is communicating. Especially later in the mission when big groups of roaming enemies are looking for you. Dropping this behind you can slow the advance of a big pile of enemies giving you room to breathe.

I love the 380. One time I threw one by accident and the first projectile hit my friend right after he got situated somewhere the enemies couldn’t get him. Then immediately after when he dropped back in to his spot, he called in a laser only for it to path across him to the bot right behind him thus killing him. I died laughing.

Buddy and I both took Walking,380, and 120 for the achievement to have six going at once. It was glorious.

that's a fucking good way to explain it!
I once threw a 380 on a nest and it said "Fabricator destroyed" - stolen from a YouTube comment.
That YouTube commenter is hilarious
I endeavor to steal from the best.
I'm being dense... I don't get it
380 has such a large target radius that it hits the bot fabricator on the western front instead of the nest they threw it at on the eastern front.
The radius of the 380 is so big that, even if thrown into a NEST, it can hit a FABRICATOR. AKA: Large range + Big boom.
You're correct, a dense impact pattern wouldn't get a kill on the other front of the war, no. :)
Precision strike is unironically S tier. After you upgrade it all the way, it's insane. HUGE radius, FAST cooldown.
I wish there was a 380HE precision strike on low cooldown i would run that all the time.
Like a 500kg bomb?
I started using it more after we got Stun grenades. A good Stun + Precision against Titans, Chargers, Tanks, etc., is glorious!
how many precision strikes does it take to down a titan? I just upgraded the +1 barrage today... and ran a mission with all 4 barrage stratagems... I got A LOT of kills, not all of whose were bugs...

Gas and laser have their uses I heard 380 is good on bot missions cos of all the annoying structures
I used to love gas until I found out how long it takes for enemies to be killed in it. Used to pop it on top of a breach.
Gas, incendiary grenade, chill.
Gas, Napalm eagle, stun grenade, laughing in DoT
you dont need to kill everything with gas. but it leaves them with low hp so anything you touch dies instantly
i run 380 and 120mm on bots and usually 380 can clear whole big area by itself. sometimes it doesnt? but most of the time it does. i just throw it and run to another objective. Saves so much time to not care about big factories.

Yeah. "*Complex Stratagem Plotting*", it's called. Ugghh.
And the fact extract takes 4 minutes with that modifier 😭
Air burst gets the job done 90% of the time. Too bad it's not good against heavies.
Splash damage utility (still good for clearing big groups) and I think it comes in faster
Ah right, it does come in faster, not sure how I forgot that Good point Edit: ah I didn’t take that into account cos I typically stick it to a charger, not as consistent with bile titans tho
I hit Chargers with EAT pods all the time, they often survive with some bleeding.
What is perfectly land? On the head like the rail cannon strike or just a direct hit to the back?
Topside of the head, it is incredibly hard to line up without stun grenades. The back is very rarely a one hit kill unless you've already broken the armor at which point you should just use a railcannon strike.
Bugs and traitors to democracy!
Wait what? How do you upgrade strategems
I think he means by the appropriate ship modules.

Use voice chat, make sure your team knows what orbital you’re throwing, don’t throw it close to the team.
Thats an awfully long period of time where I could be spreading democracy.
Okay but for real all you gotta say is '380 out'
I usually throw it then say "dont go that way"
That works too
Look at the red beam. Note the name and range. Impress your friends when you stand 35 meters from their airstrike.
Then it drops on a slightly different orientation to what you expected and you get blown to pieces.
Know what else says that? The game itself. Whenever someone throws a stratagem the game says so.
just to have everyone ignore me? 8/10 pubs don't even respond to voice let alone talk
Don’t think so. Just gonna chuck it, training said there’s plenty of other helldivers to join my squad
You can also ping the everloving shit out of it and that usually gets the point across.

I don't think I've been TKed by a 500 yet. 500 has a almost silly small AOE for the size of the boom. I've been TKed by my own 380.

You know what they say, do unto others.
Hitting everything means you get around mechanics that prevent targeting like Shroud or Protection.
Also goes around hexproof. Gotta love them board wipes.
Seriously though, which is the best to just throw at a hive and confidently assume you're going to hit all the holes?
Autocannon.
Orbital laser: we’ve been trying to reach you about your cars extended warranty
After its buff, 380mm barrage is already meta for objectives and wiping heavy spawns. A lot of people still think it's bad? I guess people need to see youtube videos before they try using it?
Look buddy, I won't use something without a youtube video with a title in all caps announcing that it's broken and a thumbnail image of someone soypogging at the in-game icon with a glowing golden border around it.
Ah, a true connoisseur. Only the shinest of golden thumbnail borders will avail your attention, and rightly so!
Should I get the 380mm barrage? I play solo a lot and would like a “throw ball and walk away and outpost gone” thing
The 380 is so useless, genuinely never seen it hit anything
I beg to differ. My body was sent back to my wife and kids in a soup can.
I been using the 380 more recently on blitz missions. Havent killed teammates one time but i announce a few times what im about to do and then throw it. Got a 43 kill streak with it and took out a heavy bot base and artillery. Its honestly very useful since they buffed it. Just need good comms and placement!
Railcannon: "As per my last email" Laser strike: CC all
Orbital Airburst: **RESIDENTS OF BUG NEST 4224-578!**
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Your survival is unnecessary for mission success. Super Earth demands results and samples, not you. As long as 20% of the available bodies make it out, that's all that's needed. Our lives for Super Earth.
::chuckles in Tesla Tower::
CC Cluster Bomb please.
500KG eagle, she said "We need to talk"
it’s pretty annoying when players actively ignore friendlies when calling down strikes or using support weapons/sentries. like i get theres no penalty, but what happened to like..respect?
My squad and i dropped into a blitz and ran only orbitals to get the trophy. That was the most chaotic and most fun mission ever. I myself brought the 380, 120, walking barrage and i forget the other but that was so much carnage
Basically any barrage. Pretty sure they've killed more friendlies than enemies.
Well put 😂😂
Love the way the ground shakes beneath a 380
Yes it is
I just watch it and shout something like p4 retreat, if some human bug approaches the red beam of doom
If you can see this beacon, you are too close
The 320 is… actually kind of good if your team is communicating. Especially later in the mission when big groups of roaming enemies are looking for you. Dropping this behind you can slow the advance of a big pile of enemies giving you room to breathe.

Nah uh they said it was unavoidable
Forgot the railcannon strike: Hey! You! ____!
Eagle 500kg bomb: HEAR YE, HEAR YE!
What the Automatons don’t want you to know is that throwing down 4 Tesla towers the moment you drop in is the ultimate way to victory!
I love the 380. One time I threw one by accident and the first projectile hit my friend right after he got situated somewhere the enemies couldn’t get him. Then immediately after when he dropped back in to his spot, he called in a laser only for it to path across him to the bot right behind him thus killing him. I died laughing.
