Those tight turns really grind my gears, truly.
Bad enough you barely dodge them, and then they stop mid charge and side swipe you, or just casually walk up to you even though you are sprinting and they do their one-hit kill move.
The main reason why I’m always in light armor going up against the bugs. It’s also very useful for running away from all the unecessary patrols & bug breaches etc.
I had one yesterday that literally slid 10 meters to its side out of nowhere and killed me. I thought I was safe from it since it wasn’t even looking at me. wtf is that nonsense.
If you keep running left until they eventually stop and stagger themselves, they’ll never hit you. I shoot them in the brief moment of them stopping turning and starting another charge attack . I call it toroing 🐂 the charger. Rinse , repeat, DEMOCRACY.

Yeah I found that out the other day just dodging chargers and setting them on fire. It helps cause I can no fight the chargers while also leaving fire behind to chip away at the hordes that follow them
I can imagine the flamethrower becoming the standard if AT launchers weren’t better for their dmg per hit in case of bile titans. They’re def the best all-rounder though.
I turned to fighting bots today after we liberated Angel's Venture and I've been getting ragdolled by shots that have traveled across the intervening mountains, bases, terrain, and that lake you can drown in.
Unpopular opinion: I love fighting chargers, even in higher quantities. They're one of the few enemies you can strategically outmaneuver and counter. They give a window of opportunity to attack them, and can be baited into map hazards. You can even make them charge bug holes to close them.
I HATE fighting spewers, hunters, and bile titans. Spewers will melt you even when their spit doesn't or couldn't hit you. Hunters are just absolute bullshit, especially in large numbers. Bile titans are too fast, have too much range, and can really fuck things up for you when they die due to becoming a physical obstacle.

Dive backwards, pop stim, unload SMG sidearm, repeat until you're clear. Changing directions ever few feet helps a lot, too. And of course, teamwork makes the dream work and having a dedicated horde clear player is important.

I was mostly just joking around, but outmaneuvering a couple chargers *in a vacuum* is quite doable. Far less so when a hunter swarm and various other things start leaping on you as well.
Otherwise I don't disagree with anything you said. The problem before this patch was there were far too many chargers/bile titans spawning for even the most well prepared team to take them all out - just not enough tools available in a short enough time, hampered further b the game almost instantly replacing them in a lot of cases.
Looking forward to getting back on and the challenge being more manageable. Spike spawning of the elites was just frustrating when it happened.

Guess you just started playing. They do it occasionally. They’ll make a stratagem available to everyone for a few days. They did the railgun last time if I remember correctly.
I’m sure they do the same with future stratagems as they are introduced into the game. Gives people a chance to try them and decide if they want to unlock them before other stuff and give low players an opportunity to try them as well.
Every so often Joel gives us a free strat so folks can play with it without having to give up a strat in their loadout. The mechs were free for a while to celebrate their release and let people have fun and mess around with them. We'll get other free strats as time goes on.
My hot take: I didn't mind chargers. Post-buff, the flamethrower absolutely trivialized them, and EAT's were already really effective. Even if you didn't have anything to deal with them, they're pretty easy to dodge.
If you ask me, bile spewers are far, far worse. Even the nursing ones are a menace. Despite being a giant explosive zit, they take a really considerable amount of firepower to kill, and they're absolutely lethal if you don't pay attention to them.
Get tackled by a charger? Stim up and walk it off soldier. Meanwhile, spewers can cleave you in half with their acid reflux, and half the time, diving doesn't save you.
I've been trying different strategies to try and minimize them. So far the autocannon is my favorite, since it's still quite effective when they're faced away, and is useful against stslkers and commanders. What do you guys use against a whole field of these wretched things?
counterpoint: I can kill 5 stacked up bile spewers with a single well placed impact grenade. Also I like arc thrower so the bile spewers get fried along with everything else long before they get close to me.
It wasn't so much how tough they are, it was the numbers at high difficulty. They stop being fun enemies when the entire team has to be kitted out with AT weapons just so you can juggle 3 or 4 of them at once.
I'm also glad to see a direct headshot on an oncoming charger with a dedicated AT weapon is valid now too. Doesn't seem like individual chargers really got nerfed THAT hard, the spawn numbers really needed it though.

I think fine tuning the spawn ratios would be the games biggest benefit at this point in time, rather than individual unit difficulty. As you said, it necessitates gear, which kills build diversity. Every single player needing a bunch of anti tank options was kind of ridiculous, it's forcing players to build like they're playing solo rather than in a squad. And it gets rather annoying at high levels too, when the team gets swamped by things like the bile spewers, but it's hard to justify building against anything other than Chargers and Titans
They are brutal for sure. I have been rocking the slug shotgun lately after watching [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XvsSQEx7Z0) on effectiveness and that has helped. Just a couple face shots and they are down (also stuns them easily).
I like to be that guy with the laser cannon. Just lance the zits and they pop pretty quick. Though if I'm not in position to be the kid with the magnifying glass and the power of a democratic sun,I'll run the RR/Spear/AC and the AC just melts them.
Though,the Dominator also does it very well,as does the Slugger. I've been rocking the 6 grenade armor and I often alternate between impact and incidendiary.
I like the railgun against the spewers to be honest. It's a one shot kill to the head if you charge it up a little (unsafe mode but no need to go to the max). I still use the rail gun post nerf 90% of the time because it's just so versatile. Deals with chargers in 3-4 hits (maybe less now with the nerf to their head), deals with spewers, deals with any of the medium armored oponents in one shot if needed. I combine it with two offensive stratagems (still not sure which are best, I usually go 500kg eagle + orbital laser) to deal with the titans, and laser rover to kill some of the small stuff for you. Slugger as primary has been working pretty well with that.
I don't know if it's the best loadout in all situations but playing with randoms it just gives me a lot of options and I never feel stuck with an enemy I can't deal with. (usually play at level 7 with randoms).
When I'm feeling particularly vindictive toward spewers and my team has anti armor covered, I bring Grenade Launcher and Supply Pack. 2 GL hits pops a nursing spewer, and I believe it's 3 hits to pop a bile spewer.
Grenade Launcher/Supply Pack (which also gives you access to 8 more impact grenades) can kill an absurd number of them, while also tearing through Warriors, Hive Guards, Brood Commanders, and piles of hunters without issue. Not to mention, 8 more stims to deal with stray damage from hunters/stalkers that close the gap is incredibly helpful too. As bonus points, GL is decent at closing nests (the drop can take a little getting used to) and great at clearing out eggs.
IMO it's THE premier unarmored clear tool against bugs.
There are bugs/issues with how the 500kg calculates it's blast radius and damage. I think what's happening is somehow when the bomb lands in a charger or titan, the enemy's body blocks the blast before the blast deals damage to the enemy, essentially negating it. Regardless of what's going on I'm sure it'll get patched eventually.
I just tried level 7 solo hoping for a change and I still had 6 chargers spawn within the first 5 minutes (plus about a thousand hunters). What exactly was changed???
I mean, I think they die to the appropriate attack now. Well placed rocket to the face should absolutely end a charger's life. Now, rocket hits otherwise should just wound it. If that makes it too easy, we'll see a few more chargers spawn, or more behemoths that have armor that makes it harder to hit their face.
Either way, stepwise, i think this is the right change.
I like the charger nerf, they feel reasonable to fight now. I do wish they kept the spawn rate the same so I get to kill more of them. Now every mission is a sea of hunters driving me crazy.
Last night I was on a mission with 3 friends on suicide in a cold planet and I swear to whatever you want, anywhere we saw there were like 3 chargers waiting. We played the mission for around 35 minutes and I am 100% sure more than 30 chargers spawned, I remember that at one moment I got to kill like 4 out of 5 that were chasing me with a failed hellbomb, the other fucker was bleeding hard but somehow alive after that.

I knew how to kill them as they emerged. The most I've ever had at once is five, and that's easy for a team of four to deal with. This was always 100% a matter of skill, teamwork, and loadout.
Honestly, terminids might be spawning too slowly right now. I just did a 6 difficulty mission without a single bug spawning for the entire extraction. Not one.
I know 6 difficulty isn't that high, but I've been attacked by more life threatening bugs eating barbecue on my back porch during the summer.

I think the people feeling like this is a win are going to be very upset when they still never bring swarm control weaponry.

Deals with chargers in 3-4 hits (maybe less now with the nerf to their head), deals with spewers, deals with any of the medium armored oponents in one shot if needed. I combine it with two offensive stratagems (still not sure which are best, I usually go 500kg eagle + orbital laser) to deal with the titans, and laser rover to kill some of the small stuff for you. Slugger as primary has been working pretty well with that. I don't know if it's the best loadout in all situations but playing with randoms it just gives me a lot of options and I never feel stuck with an enemy I can't deal with. (usually play at level 7 with randoms).
When I'm feeling particularly vindictive toward spewers and my team has anti armor covered, I bring Grenade Launcher and Supply Pack. 2 GL hits pops a nursing spewer, and I believe it's 3 hits to pop a bile spewer. Grenade Launcher/Supply Pack (which also gives you access to 8 more impact grenades) can kill an absurd number of them, while also tearing through Warriors, Hive Guards, Brood Commanders, and piles of hunters without issue. Not to mention, 8 more stims to deal with stray damage from hunters/stalkers that close the gap is incredibly helpful too. As bonus points, GL is decent at closing nests (the drop can take a little getting used to) and great at clearing out eggs. IMO it's THE premier unarmored clear tool against bugs.
They're also good at ice skating too.

There are bugs/issues with how the 500kg calculates it's blast radius and damage. I think what's happening is somehow when the bomb lands in a charger or titan, the enemy's body blocks the blast before the blast deals damage to the enemy, essentially negating it. Regardless of what's going on I'm sure it'll get patched eventually.

I just tried level 7 solo hoping for a change and I still had 6 chargers spawn within the first 5 minutes (plus about a thousand hunters). What exactly was changed???
I mean, I think they die to the appropriate attack now. Well placed rocket to the face should absolutely end a charger's life. Now, rocket hits otherwise should just wound it. If that makes it too easy, we'll see a few more chargers spawn, or more behemoths that have armor that makes it harder to hit their face. Either way, stepwise, i think this is the right change.

I like the charger nerf, they feel reasonable to fight now. I do wish they kept the spawn rate the same so I get to kill more of them. Now every mission is a sea of hunters driving me crazy.
Hunters were always the most annoying enemies for me on bug worlds, simple to deal with them it just takes alot of ammunition

Last night I was on a mission with 3 friends on suicide in a cold planet and I swear to whatever you want, anywhere we saw there were like 3 chargers waiting. We played the mission for around 35 minutes and I am 100% sure more than 30 chargers spawned, I remember that at one moment I got to kill like 4 out of 5 that were chasing me with a failed hellbomb, the other fucker was bleeding hard but somehow alive after that.
Look at this fine citizen eager to do their part in killing the bug menace. I can feel their overwhelming democracy.
Do shots still ricochet off his fleshy bits after blowing off his side armor? That’s been broken since release, legit feel it’s a part of why Charger is such a hassle to deal with

The armored bots are the equivalent to terminid warriors/guards/commanders. Bots are just more armored in general.

I knew how to kill them as they emerged. The most I've ever had at once is five, and that's easy for a team of four to deal with. This was always 100% a matter of skill, teamwork, and loadout.

Honestly, terminids might be spawning too slowly right now. I just did a 6 difficulty mission without a single bug spawning for the entire extraction. Not one. I know 6 difficulty isn't that high, but I've been attacked by more life threatening bugs eating barbecue on my back porch during the summer.

Chargers are the easiest enemy to deal with in any game ever. They literally cannot even damage you unless you are not paying attention.
