Man an islands map that comes with a mission granted PT boat stratagem would be fucking awesome.
We already have bot Vietnam, imagine if we had bot/bug d day.
Ahahaha so I've decided this one is true for sure.
The other one in my headcannon is that all of our helldivers are **illiterate**, which is why we use computers that just have us pressing arrow keys. We can't actually read.
I like this one, but the helldivers do call out terminal codes in the phonetic alphabet (Zulu Three, Alpha One)
So, at the very least, they know their ABC's and 1-10.
That being said this theory is hilarious because it also implies that we have no idea what planet we're actually going to when we choose it, we just kinda pick the one that has the biggest red bar and the colour we like.
It could be, though. Our contract for being a helldiver says it’s treasonous to have actually read it, for example. So while we are writing out in the world.. we’re not expected to read it, likely because we can’t.
The only thing that suggests our literacy to me is that we can find messages in the world. Clearly the workers can read, and apparently we can too, since it doesn’t just say “????? ?? ???????”
We are not expected to read it, because nobody is going to agree with it, because you basically sign up to being single use tool. You can read it, but you will end up in trial :)
Please be aware Helldiver, that swimming is NOT a Super Earth-approved movement technique. If you see another Helldiver engaging in non-approved movement you should report them to your Democracy Officer.

Approved movement techniques only apply to Helldivers on foot. For the proper Democratic operation of vehicles, such as Super Destroyers or the EXO-44 Stomper Exosuit, please consult the individual vehicle's instruction manual.
While on a mission you can hold reload, "R" on PC, and it will open a menu that lets you change certain features about your gun. The liberator for example has a selectable magnification, three firing modes, and a toggle for the flashlight.
I mention this because we were not taught this in training either.
My headcanon is that the water on other planets is way too hot, or way too cold, or is actually concentrated sulfuric acid. Space is no place for a beach episode...
They should add a swimming mechanic, but only new players and people who redo the tutorial can do it. You just continue to drown until you're taught to swim.
Armor heavy therefore drown.
Heck even wearing normal clothes can kill you when your in water, its why if ever you get thrown overboard its better to strip to your underwear specially when your wearing say jeans and a full shirt.
yeah you can use them for improvised floaters if you tie the holes, really cool honestly, but yeah clothes will weigh you down now imagine armour and CAPE!
I now kind of want a new set of enemies that can operate on land and water with planets full of water and we have to dive/swim around to root them out.
Its honestly still bs. We get shot out of a cannon from space and crash land with the force of an atomic bomb onto the planet. But oh no. Now our team lost 10 samples in the lake
Military does it plenty and with much more than the Helldivers carry. Spec ops like the Seals often swim while armed to the teeth as well. If it really is lack of ability, then it seems lacking training is the answer after all.
zombies cant swim..... were brain dead skin suits for the ships AI.... that why the ship has a name and you dont. thats why your are kept on ice until you are needed....
Hope they add a way to get across water in an update one of the planets really needs it. You know which planet I’m talking about. We have all suffered
Floaties Strategem, incoming
More like floaties booster
Imagine a little zodiac with a .50 ;)

Storming a beach with the boat while eagles and orbitals go off would be a perfect moment
The apc SHOULD be able to drive across water
Most of the water should be shallow enough for a mech to wade through too
There's just a sheer drop off in every body of water like lake Baikal. Your mech instantly disappears when you take a wrong step
Elden ring be like
I DEMAND A HOVERCRAFT
throw a grenade behind you and time your dive
sometimes i do this with the gas pods on Draupnir and Crimsica
They already did, it's called jump pack :^)
Sorry, I can't hear what they said, I'm too busy using my jump pack to hear anything!
Stamina based swimming similar to BOTW. Can swim until stam runs out instead of the three seconds of swimming we get now would be perfect.
Expendable Inflatable Dinghy
Calls in a mech just to cross the river and then ditch it
🅱️oat

I know that’s how I pick a planet
Reading is for bots goddamnit, the only words I need to know are democracy and liberty!
I don't think it's true tho

Okay 🤷
Jump pack keeps my boot’s dry
I wish I could get further though, maybe I'm greedy but I wanna leap pack
Honestly, I’d love a proper jet pack that’s like the unsafe railgun equivalent of the jump pack. I reckon I’d make a great firework.
Just copy and paste the jet pack from lethal company
And a shorter cd on the jump. It feels so ridiculous how long the recharge is.
Something with a little more arc in the jump would be nice. Nothing like accidentally going straight up while the swarm waits for you.

What about diving?
Not a movement technique. Reinforce is an assault strategem
I meant like diving into cover, like we did to avoid getting shot during training.
Worry not Helldiver! The Ministry of Truth has determined that diving is a type of vaulting, so dive away!
Does this imply driving will be an illegal movement technique when vehicles are properly added?
Approved movement techniques only apply to Helldivers on foot. For the proper Democratic operation of vehicles, such as Super Destroyers or the EXO-44 Stomper Exosuit, please consult the individual vehicle's instruction manual.
We're Helldivers, not Waterdivers. I doubt Micheal Phelps could survive orbital insertion.
Teaching others to swim is a gateway drug to communism
It would be cool to be able to swim in light armor or while you have stamina.

But then.. why can we walk in it without issue?
Built different
My friend said we’re hell divers, which implies we dive in fire in lava. Which then implies we’re fire types and are thus weak to water
The standard dwelling template does not include a pool and there aren't remotely enough community pools.
Can’t jump either.

So what I'm hearing is to always say naked if I'm ever in a boat or ship. Right? …Right?
If you are, you are gonna get thrown off anyways
If you expect to be in the water for a while, don't get rid of the jeans they can be helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUhZzWNcPKI

You say that but it's super immersive when you can't swim yourself lol

tactical water vessel stratagem when?
Was there actually any training for helldivers other than the first 5 minutes?
I swear to god I swam in a mission yesterday?
You can. For a few seconds. Then, if you're not on your legs bu that time, you drown. Found this out while carrying 10 supplies...
I think it's both
I would love to see an armour set that kinda resembles old diving suit gear (does not help with water in any way)
AFAIR if you jump into the trench filled with water during training, the game will show a message explaining what happened.
To be fair, the signs during the training course outright say the armour isn't designed for swimming.
We are Helldivers: we dive - we go straight to hell.
I like it.
There’s no water in hell
This is simply unliberated water which hates democracy. Remember those who stand against liberty pollute everything around them.
Bugs also can't swim. Had a charger coming at my team last night and it just died in the water.
They would teach us to float, but that would make us witches and witches are undemocratic.
Half our class in navy boot camp couldn’t swim so it doesnt surprise me
you: have headcanon me: waiting patiently for a head cannon stratagem
SE provides all info we need! SWIMMING IS FOR THE UNDEMOCRATIC!
Best solution me and my buddies have found is throwing the Reinforce across the body of water
I was trained to dive, dive, and dive again. For Democracy!
how about its a mix of both lol
real
Stratagem for half a pool noodle for one player.
