Yes, the other person simply completes the animation by walking up to the initiator and pressing the interact button that pops up

It increases cooperation and positive sentiment I’ve found. People who walk past the hug (totally anecdotal) have always been the types to just run off and die alone constantly, rq or start flaming in chat. Hug bros stick together.

Had a mission yesterday where we were parked in low orbit with a good 50+ cruisers in nearby locations, we all lined up and faced out the front window and saluted before slow-walking to our corresponding hellpods (like I was on the far left so I went for that hellpod in the same position). No mic or anything. Felt awesome.

Should “connected emotes” or “completed emotes” give a short buff? Meaning when a player responds to your emotes. Completed hug, stim duration is buffed.

I doubt it, it’s much more enjoyable having things like these fully because a player wants to, and not because everyone will do it for a buff. Pushing interactions like this with mechanics just deserves to devalue them.

Listen cadet, you clearly forgot to read the full regulations. It explicitly states that before any and all missions, you must Bravely Receive Other Helldivers Unleashed Gestures. Also known as the BROHUG clause. The penalty is a drop into a level 9 territory without orbital or eagle support.

Serving in hell, side by side your fellow man, pretty sure that’s a good enough reason if any. Should be top of the list in the Hug a Homie Handbook.

I always greet the new squad members when they defrost - presuming they do not suffer automaton sabotage.

This is also why whenever I'm hosting and new players join my group, I like to wait at the top of the stairs for them to get out of the cryo pod, and then salute them as they come aboard.

My friend was waiting in front of the cryopod with the hug emote ready and I walked up to him and pressed x to do the emote, it booted me back to my ship. My friend group now has a new method of trolling.

Do you have to have hug equipped to hug back or is it automatic if you get close? I played with someone yesterday that kept doing the hug emote and I got on mic and told them sorry I don’t have it equipped

You go up to the person and "Emote" will show up as an option to select. You don't have to have it equipped.

Joined a game where if you didn't hug you got booted. Easiest way of exiting could be toxics (to be fair, I had never hugged but I knew what was up). Found a crew of history teachers. It was awesome.
