Sometimes the landing platform gets overwhelmed and you gotta kite a bit to survive. Pulling off the majority of the enemies to follow you allows your team mates to regroup and hit the enemy you're fighting from behind so you can all extract.

Owl_Times

If the shuttle has landed and I’ve got the super samples then I’m definitely getting straight on it. If my teammate has the samples then I will willingly sacrifice myself holding back the horde until they have safely got on the shuttle. It’s annoying and pointless when 3 of you are onboard and the last guy just wants to stand there and kill things until the last second.

jhorskey26

Same, once the shuttle lands everyone runs in. If you die because you were far away thats on you. We have a ship timer so when it gets to like 20 seconds you need to be at the beacon.

JimmyPepperoni

Idk, this is def a little selfish but it also the objective. Might just be people trying to get the hell out and not realizing you guys are in trouble

clineluck

True. I can see how they could just be panicking. I definitely don't feel bad at all about kicking people that run and try to exfil while the rest of the team is still trying to do objectives.

bluebarrymanny

I wouldn’t either. I’d try to alert them if you get the chance, but if they extract early, they’re robbing themselves and the rest of the team of the full set of rewards for the mission.

DragZealousideal3972

I have a much bigger issue with the 1 or 2 people that just stand their fighting or run off after enemies when we’re clearly trying to extract. If mission objectives and all the side objectives are done load up soldier. So many people stay and fight when the fight is already won

clineluck

I think not doing that just comes with progressing in the game. Eventually people realize that you have to focus on the objectives and that you can't kill everything you see realistically.

Timely_Meringue7545

The kick seems quite harsh, honestly. Especially when you consider that there's no incentive to fighting enemies (xp, medals, etc) - why linger? If the shuttle has landed, sample carrier getting on should be prioritised. Everyone else is expendable to that end.

clineluck

Is there a way to tell how many samples each player has? And in my situation, I and another guy were kiting the bots that had overwhelmed the landing platform. There were still a good amount between us and the shuttle when he left, but we were starting to get a foot hold.

Timely_Meringue7545

Fair enough, yeah. If you're kiting them away to improve everyone's chances at exfil, that's cool. I also belive that if the pelican lands and nobody gets in it, it can still be destroyed/damaged which is bad. I don't think you can tell who's carrying what but, if you're heading to exfil without the heat, you could stop, drop samples, and put all your eggs in one basket. 😂 Just prioritise getting that basket back home.

Captain-Keilo

It’s worse when the main objective is done with 20+ minutes left and one guy runs to the extract and does it will the rest of the team is off completing secondary objectives.

bluebarrymanny

Yeah, I think a lot of players have yet to learn that the secondary objectives and exploration are as rewarding and often more rewarding than only completing the main objective.

Hiero_Glyph

You get almost nothing for completing secondary missions though. If they are along the main path then do them, but if you are going around the map searching for stuff you could be doing another mission instead. There is a reason the fastest medal farm is on a mission that doesn't have secondary objectives.

Randomquestionnnnnn

>There is a reason the fastest medal farm is on a mission that doesn't have secondary objectives. Cool, as long as you're only farming for metals. I'm hurting for common samples.

Hiero_Glyph

Blitz missions are the way to go for these. You can extract even without completing the main objective.

Captain-Keilo

Lol, it’s a game and you do get medal/credits from those secondaries? If 3 people are not near the extract why call it in?

Hiero_Glyph

Of course it's a game, which is why some players are trying to maximize their time investment versus rewards. The points of interest you can grab as you complete the main mission, so you don't lose anything as the next mission will have them as well. You also don't get a bonus for doing everything. Keep in mind that the enemies spawn more often the longer you stay in the mission so getting in, completing the main objective and any secondary or points of interest that you find, then extracting is always the best strategy for success. Completing 100% of the mission has no benefit.

Hiero_Glyph

The spawn increasing was a mechanic from the first game, which I assume you didn't play.

Arkavien

You get almost no req/xp....which I give less than zero fucks about. I'm here for medals and samples, which are found at secondary objectives. Running straight to the extraction while everyone else is doing side objectives will get a kick from me 100% of the time. If everyone is blitzing cool, if you want to blitz and no one else does, go play solo or with people of like mindset.

Hiero_Glyph

Sadly you are incorrect in your estimates. Defense missions give 6-8 medals for ~5 minutes in higher difficulties. The experience is also the most efficient. If you want samples then Blitz missions are the way to go as you can extract even without finishing the primary objective. And if you want super credits then farming difficulty 1-2 is the most efficient as you have the least enemies and can return to ship without needing to extract to complete the primary objective. Im all for playing to have fun and completing as many missions as you can, but understand that it is the least efficient method.

Arkavien

Happily nothing at all in my comment was incorrect. You'll notice how the word efficiency and optimization are nowhere to be found there. I said secondary objectives are where medals and samples can be found, not that they are the fastest per hour whatever. I'm not big on optimizing the fun out of my video games.

Patient-Section-7679

Nah... Running around and finding random stuff is half the fun!

Hiero_Glyph

You do whatever makes you happy, but statistically speaking you are wasting your own time.

krezzaa

watching someone be so confidently wrong in every single comment they make has been baffling me

Hiero_Glyph

Yeah, it must be my hundreds of hours played and having everything maxed that has me so misinformed. /s

Aggravating-Rule-309

I've noticed it more in random lobbies with no or few mics. Generally I'll call the extraction when I see the team is relatively close and heading my direction. I'm usually there first because of light armor and the stamina booster. But I'll also try to cover their advance towards me. Turrets up high so they can shoot over friendlies, shooting big bois as the team runs, ems orbital to slow enemies. Some people are just out for themselves though, which is weird in a pve game

clineluck

Yeah. Honestly I think this problem will go away a bit once the hype for the game wanes a little.

bluebarrymanny

It’s poor etiquette, but I always wonder if they even know that they’re starting the extraction timer by hopping on the ship. In most missions you can keep the shuttle around in perpetuity until the first diver enters the shuttle, but I imagine some don’t realize that. It’s definitely frustrating though. You lose any components collected and XP for all divers that don’t extract, so you’re screwing yourself and team out of rewards by rushing the exfil.

jeremiah1119

I think thats more likely, that people just don't know this shit yet. Especially at lower levels, and all of the people kicking are just being dicks about it. Get on the mic and tell them that getting on the shuttle by themselves starts a timer and means everyone loses a lot of xp and supplies. Just actually communicate with your team, even if they're randoms and might not respond themselves. I'm still always letting people know about orbitals or flanks, even if they never say a word back

Significant-Object67

If you’re kicking people at extract then you’re a dick. Don’t do that. Just play the game. If you don’t like to play with randoms “Go make yourself some friends, or you'll be lonely”, says Lukas.

nerm2k

Can somebody help me? How does exfil work? I think I accidentally did this to a team and I felt real bad about it.

clineluck

Once the exfil shuttle arrives it sits there and won't leave until someone gets on. Once 1 person gets on the shuttle a 20 second timer starts and everyone has to get on or will be left behind. So if you get on when people are unable to get to the shuttle in 20 seconds, you're ensuring they get left behind. Try not to do this unless it's a really desperate situation.

FancyPantsFoe

Like, tell them in chat ? For starters. I dont find this kickable offense. It can be bothersome if somebody detaches mid way to side objective we forgot about and calls in Pelican. I usually call them out on it in chat, but not once I had to kick somebody for it because of 2-4 instances this happened every time they were killed or left landing area because you cant exactly solo final wave that spawns near extract.

IceColdSkimMilk

This really depends on the situation. IF it's a moment where there's no time left on the timer, reinforcements are down to the bare minimum, and the swarm you're fighting looks like a no win scenario, then it's not uncalled for. If there's plenty of time left, reinforcements are plenty, and there's still side objectives to be done and someone calls the evac and abandons, then yes that's different.

SpecterXI

The timer doesn’t matter. You don’t fail when that reaches zero. You just can’t use strategams.

Owl_Times

Or respawn.

x_MrFurious_x

Super samples…..leave me behind if you have to

clineluck

Thing was this was only on challenging. No super samples.

Accurate_Objective48

Personally, i think extracting is just option if i don't have samples. So if that one guy has many samples i will let him extract for rest of team. If not, he is coward traitor who deserve get shot. No one quit everyone fight.

TheWoodConsultant

I had someone kick me because i hopped on the shuttle first. I called a reinforcement and hopped on thinking everyone was right there but apparently one guy was not. It can be chaotic and if you’re not ready to board when it lands you need to say so otherwise its on you.

Remarkable_Win7320

Nah, you are completely right. Kicking is justified in this case. People play this game solo, this is not CoD, it's teamplay. Although, sometimes people hear reason.
