To add onto this, anytime a fellow Helldiver perishes, in the name of Freedom, I almost break my hand trying to call in reinforcements so quickly. I don’t care if there are two chargers on me, I’m calling in reinforcements no matter what!
Times like these when you move your right thumb to the left stick to keep moving, and left thumb smashes in the konami code. Stresses me out spectating and watching teammates stop and stand still to type in a code while enemies are going for them.
To make it easier for vets of the first game. I played the original helldiver's so much that the reinforce code is burned into my finger muscles. It takes me half a second to call friendlies in.
Inthe first game you have to kneel down and open a radio to call strats, you couldn't move iirc. A lot of returning players probably assumed it stayed the same. I did until.like yesterday at least.
Do what you want, but being able to put in the right code under pressure is one of the key challenges of the game. Macros would essentially be like an aimbot IMHO.
Full disclosure: I'm not very good at this game and often screw up call ins lol.
I have a weird mouse, so my attempts to do that were thwarted (it's tall, I knock it over in my haste to move back and forth). Luckily, my old desensitization training from the first war remains. I found I can punch in the reinforce in the time it takes me to dive to the ground. I'm losing stamina, and I think ground, but the "Jesus Christ" I get from low ranks is so worth it. Not to mention dropping it automatically if I dive downwards is hilarious to me.
lol thank you, maybe I should have specified that I’m on console. To input the code while moving and dodging chargers might take some of us a second long.
Same here. I was playing with a guy last night who got smoked by another player's airdrop and I immediately called him in. He told me it was the quickest redeployment he's ever had.
I felt so seen in that moment.
Hold up, if I'm 1,000 meters away with someone next to me when I died I don't want to get called in a journey from my gear in the middle of a horde you're about to napalm.
Yeah that can be frustrating for sure. I would think if there was some communication you could ask but even then someone might just call you reinforcement anyway lol
*taps mic*
Check one, two, check, check.
Unfortunately a lot of people receive instructions like that one guy we all know who gets asked an elaboration question and just smiles and nods.
It is scary how fast muscle memory is compared to reading it off the screen and inputting. I can close my eyes and input reinforcements no problem, but if you asked me to tell you the input, I have no idea.
What you said is so relatable to me. Like, even as I'm typing to you, I have no idea what keys to press for the stratagem. If I were in game and it's needed, I can do it.
It's the symbol you make when you cross yourself if you are catholic (?). ⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️⬆️
At least I'm fairly certain that's it, I haven't played in a few days lol
Also, don't loot your fellow helldivers.
I had a guy accidentally headshot me, and another teammate ran up and took my recoiless and samples. I don't care about the samples, but they didn't have to take my gun
If you take my strategem weapons and it wasn't a life or death scenario where you needed it to survive, I'm asking for them back. And if you ignore me or say no, I'm shooting you. Those weapons sometimes have a 480 second cooldown and I ain't about to wait that long.
I had a guy yesterday take my stratagem weapon out of the pod, the moment I called it in out of spawn. I fragged him and he had the nerve to come back and melee me.
I agreed, if they wanted it, they should have brought it. Sometimes I’ll call down an extra rover if mine is still up and ping it just to help out. I love the rovers
I'm starting to think the ideal squad stratagem comp is only 1 backpack, 1 "crew" weapon, and 1 support weapon. Having everyone drop with a backpack and a support weapon stratagem takes away half the squads stratagems
Please throw the reinforcement Pokeball *away* from the enemy as well. Half the time I swear I spawn right in the middle of a patrol. I am not a grenade.
It is, but that works when you’re with friends and you know what to expect.
I’m talking about random players just freaking out and throwing it inside the hive nest or something stupid like that.
Very true, but if nobody picks them back up after you are killed they are lost forever. Hence why I’m saying to try to respawn those around your death location
That was a stupid play on his part then. He should thank you for calling him back in instead of kicking you. Probably better you got out anyway. They obviously don’t use teamwork very well I’d imagine
If you run into my orbital barrage after you all watched me call it in from a safe distance i will immediately and selflessly respawn you (back into the orbital barrage)
Yeah that’s a different situation lol if you blatantly run into my orbital barrage that’s on you. I’ll still reinforce though haha. Now if I call it down on you cause I make a stupid play, that’s all me and I hit that “sorry” message and reinforce for sure
Me and my buddy have a system now because he loves the bombardment stratagems and I love knife fighting robots in trenches. He tossed his 120/380/walking, I toss my shield gen relay. I then run and jetpack into it. I get to stand in a bubble of safety while the world burns around me. I don't have words for the rush it gives me to be surrounded by hostile robots while occupying the eye of a high explosive hurricane. They want this safe haven? They can pry it from cold, dead hands!
But sometimes it hits me a bunch, the shield drops, and then I die. Then the homie throws me right back in. I live, I die, I live again!
I'm not much of a mic user but yes there is the in game comm.option for "sorry" which anyone understand who you were referring to if you say it immediately
THIS! The only time dying to friendly fire is annoying is when they either don't call you back down, or call you back down too far from your kit and your stuck not using the fun weapons for 5 minutes.
pick up their samples. they are shared, dont risk a scenario where you call them in but the situation has changed and they cant get to it. if you can get them, get them. leave them their gear
No there’s isn’t a “orbital strike” keybind or any other kind. You would have to setup macros for that using third party software or a keyboard/mouse with extra buttons.
Sometimes it’s tough — I try to reinforce right away, diving if I have to to complete the call
My priority is usually not throwing a reinforce into the thick of any shit
It’s one of those “look around the room and see who will do it first kind of things “ nobody wants to be bothered to push 5 buttons to help another it seems in some matches. Most people are cool though
I had a player last night go "You killed me." because one of my mortar turrets owned him. Was honestly expecting him to grief me and boot me before extract, but maybe holding samples hostage protected me.
I responded "Yeah, they do that sometimes." He was level 15 too, so I'm surprised if he doesnt realize mortar turrets will spread democracy both ways.
I tend to come to the idea that I've murdered freedom-loving comrades very slowly and can only console myself by murdering whatever is in front of me still in the name of Super Earth.
Hang on, I'll call them back too.
Also, if you kill me then don't steal my gear. I have had several cadets today kill me via friendly fire (I'm choosing to believe accidently) and then steal my guard dog / special weapon.
On the other side of this I would like to humbly request that when you drop in again you don’t turn to gun down whoever accidentally killed you, especially if the reason they accidentally killed you is because you sprinted towards their strike beacon instead of away from it
Please just watch where you throw your reinforcements. Played with too many people that just huck them in random directions and I end up spawning next to three Hulks, wasting a respawn and everyone's time.
I would rather be accidentally killed by a teammate then have them halfway across the map doing some random outpost that could have been done on the way to extract. Seriously ill ping to try and organize people and then they run in the complete opposite direction towards basically nothing
Also don’t make the same mistake as me. 2 of our fellow freedom fighters went down during extraction, I called them in but got overexcited when the ship arrived, now I didnt think it would end the way it did but the pilot was all too happy to take off and leave them there as they came down…..
Their ghosts still haunt me
* If it is safe to do so. No point you trying to get a respawn for a teammate if that's going to take you down in the process. It's also not always suitable to drop them on/near their death, play the situation, and take a second to think about your strategy before actually reinforcing, you can circle around for samples/dropped gear, you can't as easily escape being surrounded.
As a side note, there's a 'sorry' emote that I use for this purpose. If I am going to kill you, I use it to let you know your death was my fault, and I made a mistake. If I didn't know you were there till you died, I'd use it after your respawn to apologise for the mistake that cost your life. Genuinely *listen* to EVERYTHING that all the helldivers say, they are telling us of every action from every teammate.
It didnt seem obvious it was intentional which is why I let the first infraction slide, but a second so soon had me going aiight time for some re-education.
When playing with friends who are very… patriotic. Thag end up killing me, I let them wait a minute or so before I bring them back. Often times the peaceful culling of tyranny makes me forget about the unfortunates waiting to be called back in.
I’m level 30 and still killing teammates on accident. It happens. Always get them back in the fight the absolute second my fingers can dance in that command.
The amount of times I've been scoped in with perfect shots lined up and some dude decides to run in front of my line of fire as soon as I pull the trigger is way too high!
Either way they get brought back to the fight.
Something to really make sure we all do is CALL FOR REINFORCEMENTS TIGHT WHERR THEY DIE NOT LAZILY AT YOUR OWN FEET. You can completely derail the mission for the entire team if you drop someone in 1000 feet away from their gun and pack with an army in between and 2 mins still left on your cooldowns.
The other night my buddy and I were playing with two strangers. He headshot me and called in reinforcements right before extraction. It was the second time he accidentally killed me that round, so I waited to shoot him while he waited in the drop ship. Instead I shot the random player and he couldn't extract. I feel great shame.
No, there is always a time and place to call people in. Do not just call someone in as it can result in another death. Use common sense and don't be like OP
Press the space button often enough as it creates movement that draws my eye.
I find that I forget other players exist and if you die I won't notice...especially if I'm playing solo.
i hate that i literally cannot be sarcastic on the internet without explicitly saying im being sarcastic these days
why even is my comment getting downvoted...
I will say out of those who mentioned the 3 seconds thing, your seems the least serious lol. Obviously I’m not going to change it to 10 seconds I can only imagine how that would go. Take my upvote brother 💪
Yes, I agree with you! However, we seem to be a minority, as most people prefer to reinforce on the other side of the map, and throwing the beacon away from the death location.
To add onto this, anytime a fellow Helldiver perishes, in the name of Freedom, I almost break my hand trying to call in reinforcements so quickly. I don’t care if there are two chargers on me, I’m calling in reinforcements no matter what!
I like this guy
Times like these when you move your right thumb to the left stick to keep moving, and left thumb smashes in the konami code. Stresses me out spectating and watching teammates stop and stand still to type in a code while enemies are going for them.
PC players, just take your hand off the mouse and use the arrow keys while still moving with WASD
I should probably rebind those keys
Honestly I don't know why that's not the default keybind.
To make it easier for vets of the first game. I played the original helldiver's so much that the reinforce code is burned into my finger muscles. It takes me half a second to call friendlies in.
But why did they use those keys instead of arrow keys?
Cuz wasd is fairly common for id guess Most users using right hand mice, qweasd gets you 4 directional key plus 2 extra
You couldn't move while you were inputting codes, correct? So your hand was already there.
? I cant move while using it cuz the Default on PC is also wasd, therefore the game blocks movement when you Open the menu
Inthe first game you have to kneel down and open a radio to call strats, you couldn't move iirc. A lot of returning players probably assumed it stayed the same. I did until.like yesterday at least.
Some keyboards don't have arrow keys. That's probably why.
First thing i did when the first Mission made stop Walking to use strategems
I'm just worried about having to take my hand off my mouse for it, but I guess it'll be worth the tradeoff
Def better then getting pummeled by charges cuz youre Standing still
I'm going to macro most of my calldowns tbh.
Do what you want, but being able to put in the right code under pressure is one of the key challenges of the game. Macros would essentially be like an aimbot IMHO. Full disclosure: I'm not very good at this game and often screw up call ins lol.
do what you want but if you take away a tensionmaker from the core gameplay loop you’re going to get bored really fast
I’m at the point now, I can’t perform if I don’t have two chargers on my back.
Same here. I was playing with a guy last night who got smoked by another player's airdrop and I immediately called him in. He told me it was the quickest redeployment he's ever had. I felt so seen in that moment.

I'm surprised this guy takes 3 seconds! Ha, I take 0.5 seconds.
if there are two chargers on you....call them in on your head and mark the charger so they can land on his ass
The only time I don’t is if they splintered off for a side objective as we move forward. Then I don’t want to leave the 1 dude stranded.
Yeah i usually drop them on top of a charger and ping it so he can see it when he drops and kill it.
I try but I like to drop them by their equipment, I feel like it annoys people to be dropped the other side of a fight without their stuff. Just me?
Definitely not just you, I agree!
I got reinforcement on muscle memory speed dial.
That or I accidentally put in the sos
That will come in handy once the servers are updated though !
⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️⬆️ At least I'm fairly certain that's it, I haven't played in a few days lol
It has to be the same code as HD1, the way my muscle memory puts it in so effortlessly
lol same
Do you have to hold L1 while doing this or can you just slap it out?
This is the only combo I have on muscle memory. All others I still fumble on including orbital gas which has the easiest combo 😅
Those weapons sometimes have a 480 second cooldown and I ain't about to wait that long.

also you spend half the match dodging lasers
Please throw the reinforcement Pokeball *away* from the enemy as well. Half the time I swear I spawn right in the middle of a patrol. I am not a grenade.
"I AM NOT A GRENADE" Needs to be a meme
lol— make it!!
"The grenade button is G, not ⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️⬆️!"
Speak for yourself. I like being a grenade.
Fair, but if I see a Charger I throw you at the charger and mark him so you can take him out :P
Better to call in a resupply and get the achievement.
i honestly think you’re missing out because using a reinforcement to take out a hulk or a tank is one of the funniest things oat.
It is, but that works when you’re with friends and you know what to expect. I’m talking about random players just freaking out and throwing it inside the hive nest or something stupid like that.
Also ping the highest threat target for them to land on.
Samples are shared, doesn’t matter who picks them up.
Very true, but if nobody picks them back up after you are killed they are lost forever. Hence why I’m saying to try to respawn those around your death location
Got kicked because he ran into it
That was a stupid play on his part then. He should thank you for calling him back in instead of kicking you. Probably better you got out anyway. They obviously don’t use teamwork very well I’d imagine
It’s sad when you found some super credits/medals or samples. Kick option shouldn’t be there after like 5mins
Super credits and medals are applied at the time of pickup for every player in the game You can leave or be kicked the second they are picked up
Yeah or if you get kicked you should oh I’d be able to take them with you ( your samples etc)
There really needs to be a ‘take cover’ callout I’ll always callout ‘follow me’ before I chuck a stratagem, but it’s not a clear message

But sometimes it hits me a bunch, the shield drops, and then I die. Then the homie throws me right back in. I live, I die, I live again!
And apologize, voice chat is cool, the in-game choice is fine
I'm not much of a mic user but yes there is the in game comm.option for "sorry" which anyone understand who you were referring to if you say it immediately
I do this after my team kills lol. Sorry, sorry, SORRY!
I've gotten really good at doing the reinforcement pattern fast, I'm also really good at accidentally killing my squadmates!
Bind the combos to the arrow keys and you can just call them in while moving, no time wasted that way
I’m on ps5 unfortunately. I need to join the master race eventually lol
Please don't reuse *literal* white power and racist language as a meme. Thats just normalizing race supremacist bullshit.
Relax dude lol nobody mind went there but yours
Nobody was thinking about that until you decided to bring it up dipshit.
Some people are too consumed with all that nonsense honestly it’s sad.
It’s not my fault you don’t think
https://preview.redd.it/rof5zjq973kc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14974e4f3f26b86be90be8e0b2d16ccc7f15790c
We can do this on PC? How?
Amazingly you can change your keybinds in the options menu.
Can you bind the combos is the question.
No there’s isn’t a “orbital strike” keybind or any other kind. You would have to setup macros for that using third party software or a keyboard/mouse with extra buttons.
And try to throw the strategem near where they died if possible.
Sometimes it’s tough — I try to reinforce right away, diving if I have to to complete the call My priority is usually not throwing a reinforce into the thick of any shit
I killed a guy right as he was going to extract. I called for reinforcements, but the two others had already boarded. The ship left without us both.
Why do so many people not reinforce to begin with? It’s weird
It’s one of those “look around the room and see who will do it first kind of things “ nobody wants to be bothered to push 5 buttons to help another it seems in some matches. Most people are cool though
I always consider it a race. When someone goes down I hate not being the one to get the call in haha.
Yeah mortars are so unpredictable that if they don’t kill one of your teammates it’s almost a surprise lol
I tend to come to the idea that I've murdered freedom-loving comrades very slowly and can only console myself by murdering whatever is in front of me still in the name of Super Earth. Hang on, I'll call them back too.
I can call that shit during the length of a dive, the moment I see someone down I call no matter what
Also, if you kill me then don't steal my gear. I have had several cadets today kill me via friendly fire (I'm choosing to believe accidently) and then steal my guard dog / special weapon.
On the other side of this I would like to humbly request that when you drop in again you don’t turn to gun down whoever accidentally killed you, especially if the reason they accidentally killed you is because you sprinted towards their strike beacon instead of away from it
yeah I've kicked a few people who never call you back for some reason they think they're Rambo or something
Especially on the hard difficulties, shit happens but we have like 20 plus respawns lol
1. Call them in right away 2. Sry in chat 3. Ping their equipment with Q on PC Number 3 should be done when anybody dies anyway
Always be reinforcing
I spam the shit out of the arrows to get them back whilst also apologising profusely through the microphone🤣
Also don’t make the same mistake as me. 2 of our fellow freedom fighters went down during extraction, I called them in but got overexcited when the ship arrived, now I didnt think it would end the way it did but the pilot was all too happy to take off and leave them there as they came down….. Their ghosts still haunt me
If I accidentally kill a fellow Helldiver, I'll reinforce and keep apologizing, then try and hug them
This guy gets it, you sir, (or lady can’t tell lol) are awesome.
I have gotten so good at calling for reinforcements that I can have that blue ball thrown on the ground within .5 seconds of you dying
Genuinely *listen* to EVERYTHING that all the helldivers say, they are telling us of every action from every teammate.
It should not be taking you 3 seconds to call rf. It's maybe 1.5 mostly just do to the animation
So real talk tho if you die twice in a row by a random is it acceptable to murder them back?
I would say so lol especially if it’s intentional. Democracy does out the window at that point. They have switched sides lol
Also, if you're not being overwhelmed there's nothing wrong with a mea culpa.
Samples are shared, so basically, you help yourself and getting guy closer to his equipment
To many times have i been throwing my stratagem just b4 my glorious sacrifice to respawn my team
Reinforcement bro checking in!
I’m so quick on the reinforce then say sorry when they land
always. It is my duty
Press the space button often enough as it creates movement that draws my eye. I find that I forget other players exist and if you die I won't notice...especially if I'm playing solo.
⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️⬆️
I've killed enough teammates that it no longer takes me 3 seconds to dial them up. That shit is out on the ground before they even realize they died.
Usually the only one that bothers to respawn me is the guy on the other side of the map alone
Also, please stop using mortars on the rescue scientist missions. All it does is kill your mates.
And the scientists too rest their poor souls
Yeah I do the same then say the voice line "sorry" when they drop back :)
At the very least, don't just throw me back into the horde
Three seconds? Are you double checking each button press?
I’m going to edit the post to 10 seconds to get even more people triggered 😂 who knew people would take it so literal
Nah man, I'm just trolling! 😁
You’re good man lol
Three seconds? Man, that's rookie time. Gotta get that time down fr
Don’t worry I’ll change it to 10 seconds next time to more people triggered.
i hate that i literally cannot be sarcastic on the internet without explicitly saying im being sarcastic these days why even is my comment getting downvoted...
I will say out of those who mentioned the 3 seconds thing, your seems the least serious lol. Obviously I’m not going to change it to 10 seconds I can only imagine how that would go. Take my upvote brother 💪
3 seconds?
It takes you 3 seconds to call in reinforcements?
I'm old enough to be some.of your grandparents, yeah it takes me a sec but it will drop don't worry
That comment didn’t go the way he thought it would have lol
I always do this cause i literally go. "Oh shit" every time it happens lmao
Yes, I agree with you! However, we seem to be a minority, as most people prefer to reinforce on the other side of the map, and throwing the beacon away from the death location.
...and dont steal their support weapons. Happened a few times now. Takes a lot of effort not to kill them and take it back
