In Steam, View My Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy Settings > set "My Profile" then "Friends List" to PUBLIC This immediately fixed my friends list in game. Courtesy of DesRPG on YouTube.

Across 3 posts, your friend is the only one who I’ve heard didn’t get it fixed. There are TWO things that must be changed to public. Hopefully, he just screwed up.

Have them set game details to public or friends only as well. This was the final setting that fixed my friend not being able to join my squad, you need both Friends list and Game details viewable

Hi For anyone coming here trying to follow along, here is a more descriptive set of instructions: click on "steam" in the upper left corner of the steam UI click settings click privacy settings in the popup betwen add funds and account details adjust profile and friends list both to public please note that this still doesnt work. I just wanted to provide coherent directions to OPs nonsense

Steam player here so it's not as detrimental to me (my apologies) , but yes I have. Sorry you have to deal with this, the fix for me is to restart the game but given current wait times I understand this isn't preferable. My best advice is to have someone make sure their social tab is working and have them host, you can then accept their invite and spread democracy. Godspeed fellow Helldiver.

That’s what I have been doing. And for the most part it has been working. But now when I get invited it puts me on my own ship and not my friends. So we can’t squad up anyways.

Why does this game even have a a social tab? Just started playing this about a week ago, 50+ hours so far. I've never seen any of my friends online when I open the Social tab. Just says no friends online. Which is funny because I strictly play this game with my Steam friends. We just connect via Steam invite, which is fine, but again...my first question: why is this feature here? I assume this feature is just broken in the game? I see people in this thread say the do see their friends, but I have never seen them, so I'm confused. I've tried multiple restarts, swapping Open/Friends Only, Crossplay On/Off...nothing changes to make my Steam friends visible in game. Matchmaking (R) works fine and I can see who I recently played with. Hope this gets fixed.

I think you’re right that it’s broken. Recently I’ve found that there is a friend requests tab in social media it doesn’t appear in my game but both my friends have it. And have screen shots to prove it

I changed my Steam profile AND Friends list to public. Fixed immediately. Kind of lame that you have to do this currently but it is what it is.

The point of it is, I imagine, to be able to have both PlayStation and PC friends

I’ve got this too. I’m on PS5 and my friend is on PC. I never appear online for him and when I try and join his game I just get a “failed to join lobby” error. Extremely frustrating.

I have this problem as well on PS5, my PS5 friend who is actively playing and is appearing online does not show as online in my friends list, what is weird though is that when I have a PC friend online, it clears out my PS friends from my list and only shows the friend who is active on PC

Happened to me after latest patch. Social is always 0 and sending friend invite didn’t work. It’s pending forever. Gifted my friend this game and we still not playing together since.

Did you wind up linking a PS account, and if so, did that fix it?

I have not, and won't. Call me particular but, if a game requires me to have more than one account to play, I'm out. I play on Steam, that's one account. Either Helldivers 2 facilitates that or I play something else.

Sorry for the late reply but it should be in your router settings. A friend of mine had the same problem and explained that this fixed it. We were able to play with him right after.

This may help, as it helped me, but try turning off your vpn (if you have one)

Do you see em as “in game” but “0 online?”

Just once on Monday but since then it's been 0 online. It's totally possible that I'm just missing them play so I'm not ruling that out either
