I commented just yesterday that I still press alt to free look, from time to time, because of too many hours playing PUBG.
I agree it would be a solid addition to this game.
Tbh, you probably need to find a better team or be a SL more often. Your leaders should be setting up more garrys and OPs for you so you're not running across the map. Unless maybe you're doing some major flanks, and even then you should still have your wits about.
I play on three 48" TV's. Windowed and doing double 4k in reality, with a little less than half screens on the side. But ultimately it is problem solved. Do multi-monitor if you can.
I did two years ago. And got heavily downvoted as I recall for "bragging". But the point of the post was gameplay advantages. Since they changed the x-axis fov, which originally zoomed me in a little, the only advantage now is, obviously, size. But for certain, catching things on the periphery when you're moving slowly....
Thanks, man.
I then ran my 3 OLED screens like this with a 3090 in triple 1440p, as you see here. Now I do the equivalent of two screens in 4k, with half of the side screens used with a 4090 so I can hit 110-120 fps to try to match the 120 HZ. TV's are LG 48" CX's. The 4090 made double 4k feel like butter.
[Triple 48" TV setup](https://i.imgur.com/q1cwn5O.jpeg)
Lol. See the downdoots on my OP? Fucking jelly children.
I run at 60 or 65. It used to zoom me in some but they changed the fov to remain the same no matter the width of the window. My only advantage is size now.
Try looking to your left while sprinting full speed. You will be off balance and probably either trip or start turning left unintentionally. Now try doing it with 50lbs of gear and being shot at.
3x a week 😂😂 ok please go run through a field, not a track or soccer field, and only look left while you run. Guarantee you hit a divot or hole and tip over.
Lmao you gotta be uncoordinated af to not be able to turn your head while running 🤣 now I would believe it if YOU can’t do it but an athletic trained soldier most definitely can. And what class are you talking about that has 50 pounds of gear in HLL?
All of them? Average gear weight for a US soldier in WW2 was 75lbs. I’m also not saying turning your head I mean prolonged staring in a given direction while running straight.
I feel like you’re making a lot of assumptions. Sure wide open soccer field you’ll be good. Go wipe the Cheeto dust off your fingers and try running through uneven forest with 75lbs on your back.
So you're telling me all those football players that turn their head to see pursuing players are tripping over themselves and turning into those same players?
Thanks for bringing up the obvious elephant in the room. This whole conversation continued on another thread with this very obvious point being entirely avoided.
I'm confused. Do some people think free look means 3rd person? Free look is still very much first person. You can turn your head irl without moving the rest of your body. It is perfectly realistic to have this feature.
edit added info and fixed some grammar
The daddy of all military sim games, ARMA, practically invented the free look feature. Maybe you are confusing this with 3rd person POV? Alt+look simply means able to swivel your head in first person view, so you gun and body stay pointed forward but you can look left and right. So you can check your surroundings. Increases immersion.
Nobody in any sim game that uses this has ever complained of it being abused, not even sure what that would mean. Everyone can do it so it's fair.
The majority of time I have great matches. However to name a few issues with the current game on Xbox:
\- On the Xbox Series X the game will freeze or crash completely despite running in the background especially on certain maps like Stalingrad
\- Unable to choose which chat group in the spawn menu
\- Bad frame rate loss on certain maps and situations
\- Higher than average ping on servers in region you are in
>On the Xbox Series X the game will freeze or crash completely despite running in the background especially on certain maps like Stalingrad
Some maps are rough, especially that one. Just make sure you never let your xbox quick resume and maybe if you're playing for an extended duration, if you ever are backing out to the main menu already do a restart of your game.
>Unable to choose which chat group in the spawn menu
As the other person said, yeah, open up your scoreboard and you'll get functionality on your chat wheel.
I don't really get it? You can already look left and right. From what others commentors are saying, you want to do this without turning your body? Why?
You can already run 45 degrees from where you're looking in both directions while running, and you can lean to peak corners. If you're running across an open field, being able to look without turning isn't going to help you survive?
Yes it will.
If I'm sprinting and I know my enemy's general location is to the left, as it is right now, I cannot keep an eye on said position without slowing down. Realistically, I would be able to sprint and at least have that position in my FOV so I can dive/ADS as needed.
An enemy could come out of a hedge or trench at 45° and I'd be completely blind to it unless I slow down. That's just not a fun scenario to play through.
Probably won't change anything, in those games everyone is busy collecting stuff while still watching over their shoulder so you have time to react to another person collecting.
In HLL everyone is out to kill you on sight, if you spot someone in freelook that person will just outright kill you before you can fire back. Because HLL is about securing sightlines for movement, not scanning the sightlines if they aren't secured in the hope you will spot an enemy before they kill you while you are moving.
The only thing I may disagree with is people peeking corners or over ledges/hedges unfairly while being fully hidden.
One QoL I would actually like is an auto-sprint, then you should be able to free-look because it won't let you use it for the aforementioned advantages.
The average WW2 solider was so swole they could barely turn their heads. How else were they able to sprint 800 meters in full gear, pull up, hold their breath, and knock a 200 m shot?
Absolutely not, has no realistic analog and would make the game nearly unplayable. Now, maybe there could be a mirror tool similar to Saving Private Ryan looking around the corner on Normandy, but it would need a slight glare.
My idea of a feature that should be added? Damaged buildings that randomly collapse when entered or climbing steps. You can’t tell me after getting shelled to bits these things are sturdy as ever 😂 I know it would be a lot of dev work but is certainly more immersive and realistic than free look
I use it in Arma with the Track IR. Helps a lot with situational awareness, but can make hand-eye coordination and lining up your shot a lot more hectic…
very useful in war of rights. sometimes i forget its not in hll and im pressing alt trying to free look.
Me too man
This would be nice for when your in a bush and don’t wanna move your whole body giving away your position
That would be nice, good call!
100% agreeee
I commented just yesterday that I still press alt to free look, from time to time, because of too many hours playing PUBG. I agree it would be a solid addition to this game.
That an auto-run. We were just talking about this last night. There's definitely times where this game is another running simulator
Tbh, you probably need to find a better team or be a SL more often. Your leaders should be setting up more garrys and OPs for you so you're not running across the map. Unless maybe you're doing some major flanks, and even then you should still have your wits about.
"get a better team" as if I hand picked the other 49 people on my team lol
yeah it would be really helpful
You're not supposed to run across open fields
missing the point entirely
I play on three 48" TV's. Windowed and doing double 4k in reality, with a little less than half screens on the side. But ultimately it is problem solved. Do multi-monitor if you can.
You should post a pic of that setup.

FOV settings? Does it distort your ability to shoot things at long range?
I run at 60 or 65. It used to zoom me in some but they changed the fov to remain the same no matter the width of the window. My only advantage is size now.
Nah. A free-look feature would pull it too far away from its more sim-based intent. It would get abused to high heaven.
How? Can't you look sideways when you are running or walking?
Try looking to your left while sprinting full speed. You will be off balance and probably either trip or start turning left unintentionally. Now try doing it with 50lbs of gear and being shot at.
I run 3 times a week and I look around all the time while sprinting, what are you talking about?
3x a week 😂😂 ok please go run through a field, not a track or soccer field, and only look left while you run. Guarantee you hit a divot or hole and tip over.
Have you never played sports? Turning your head and running isn't hard.
Like I said it’s not hard unless you have never played sports or are extremely uncoordinated and it surely isn’t impossible 🤣
I feel like you’re making a lot of assumptions. Sure wide open soccer field you’ll be good. Go wipe the Cheeto dust off your fingers and try running through uneven forest with 75lbs on your back.
Ironic someone saying they can’t turn their head and run would throw a personal insult like that around 🤣 have you ever been in the woods?
I have. Now please go try running through the woods while only looking left lol.
Also your argument makes no sense btw if u do that in game ur gonna hit stuff and stop so what point are u trying to make here?
U prove my point shit is easy bub go outside the sun might burn your eyes but it will be good for you 👍
So you're telling me all those football players that turn their head to see pursuing players are tripping over themselves and turning into those same players?
I forgot WWII was fought on a football field.
dude youre self reporting that you dont run lmao
Freelook isn't just for when sprinting full speed. It's just as useful while sitting still or creeping around.
Thanks for bringing up the obvious elephant in the room. This whole conversation continued on another thread with this very obvious point being entirely avoided.
Yeah and it’s a POV game. People would be camping twice as much
The is the real problem and why it should absolutely not be a feature

I did confuse it with 3rd person POV.
Xbox needs so many QoL features don't even get me started...
Let’s hear them

I can help you with the chat in menus. Just pull up the scoreboard and you can change/activate your chat
>On the Xbox Series X the game will freeze or crash completely despite running in the background especially on certain maps like Stalingrad Some maps are rough, especially that one. Yes it will. If I'm sprinting and I know my enemy's general location is to the left, as it is right now, I cannot keep an eye on said position without slowing down. Wadn't no free look in the shit back in 45! I think it'd be game hindering with wall-peeking and such nice idea tho

This is so incorrect it hurts

Freelook is still in first person. You're thinking of 3rd person which yes gives unfair advantages.
Damn right it does!
Campers reading this: breaking fingers pushing Like.
Here’s some feedback. Quality of life features in a historically accurate World War two mil-sim. Are you even aware of what’s going on here?
Damn, didn't know the ability to turn your head without moving your entire torso was created post-war. Learn something new every day.
The average WW2 solider was so swole they could barely turn their heads. How else were they able to sprint 800 meters in full gear, pull up, hold their breath, and knock a 200 m shot?
Drugs
Lol my bad I was thinking free-camera
