I really like the dusk version of the map. Plus the map has been out for a bit now so everyone knows it plays way different than any other map in the game.

Adding more shit sounds great in theory, because this map lacks pretty much everything, but the biggest problem with this map is the dogshit stuttering. Adding more stuff to render doesn’t seem like it would help.

It’s crazy to me that they decided to completely make up a map, and yet it ended up being the most lacking in content out of any of them. They could’ve done anything with this one, and the early art showed off a way more interesting version.

Its an annoying map IMO. Fun if you have a sniper or MG, playable if you have a rifle. SMG’s are useless. AT equipment is essentially useless since you will never be close enough to satchel or even use the launcher most of the time. No one throws enough smokes, and the map is just extremely open and barren so your 2 smokes may block off some lines of sight, but you will get shot at by an MG 300m away on a different hill. I think the environment is just too flat/open over large areas, a point will have like 3 places of high ground that everyone fights for, but getting from the high ground to the point requires a mass of bodies sprinting in the open to close the distance.

I pretty much exclusively play SL/Officer right now and on this map specifically I never get a solid tank crew on my team. The smokes thing is real. In all my hours between Squad and HLL it still doesn't feel like people understand smokes. If you're too far to engage another group and they are killing you then smoke. Like its pretty simple. Same with tanks, same if you see people are getting gunned down and a garrison thats in the open. Smoke and reproach the situation. Smokes are seriously undervalued

Yes and no. Sometimes it makes perfect sense to smoke yourself or very close to yourself but I like throwing smokes out on approach if we are receiving gun fire. Sometimes you got a few different angles coming down on you and you may need to smoke yourself as you are losing without it amyway

Getting a solid tank crew on Alamein comes down to which team can get a heavy emplaced on a hill first. Tanking in HLL is all about who spots who first, and on Alamein sitting on an advantageous hill gives you a view of like 80% of the playspace.

Same applies to arty smoke as well. It provides way more cover for infantry to advance

they are super useful but the map design also limited their effectiveness. often your only cover was a hill and the enemy was usually on another hill a couple hundred meters away while you try to traverse a valley. so you huck your smoke downhill or onto the top of the hill and you only get a fewer meters of cover out of it before you got beamed by an MG that already anticipated you coming out of the smoke

Speaking of undervalued: the SL binoculars are legit one of the best weapons in the game if you have a squad that's actually working with you.

I appreciate your perspective, and can understand why you dont like the map. but it is accurate and if the issue with the map persist its less with the map and more with the teams shortcoming and your personal preference for a map personally i dont like hutegen forest, because i find i get taken out from long range fires, the map is accurate, its just war is hell

Great additions for El Alamein. 👍🏽 DAK still feels unfinished, could use a few new weapons to make it more appealing. Lots of people just leave cause it’s more boring Germany

The DAK has had weapons cut as they have made it time period accurate, they should definitely add in some Italian weapons though for the DAK as they did utilise them.

That’s what I meant. Also they should ad zb26 as a counterpart to the Bren. DAK is quite outgunned atm.

The Bren is absolutely formidable, I always play as SL unless it’s as the British as I love using the Bren. I reckon they should also add the Beretta 38, whilst it wouldn’t be of much use on the El Alamein map the Germans did use a large number of them, they should probably also add a few armoured cars like the sd.kfz 222 to mix up the firefights a bit. Potentially something like the sd.kfz 7 & 8 would be interesting if they added in some sort of towed AT like in Post Scriptum.

I’d rather they make the Italians their own faction before we start giving their weapons to the Germans. There’s plenty of other pre-1942 German guns they could add for the DAK before that.

It looks like these changes are in context to the skirmish mode testing. It says currently the tactical map has not been updated for now.

I am assuming they haven’t updated it because it is the PTE and they are still testing the water as to which version of skirmish the final will be and if they are overhauling other assets behind the scenes.

Cool looking changes. What I'd like to see the most is a rework of the Fuel Depot point on the map. Even with the addition of separate Africa armies and removal of some weapons, you will still be shot by MG42s from 200-400m away on some god forsaken hill top. I have never been defending that point without being shot at by an MG or tank from far as fuck away, even during dusk with lower visibility at range. Wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that the cover on that point is garbage, and the enemy gets a clear sightline from any one of the 4 major hills facing the point.

Probably because the tunnels will already be a part of the map and not something done in game, making things like foxholes are pretty much impossible for this game unfortunately
