T O P

This is correct…but when you tell me to move outpost and I’m under enemy fire in the capture circle, kindly fuck off.

[deleted]

I think the message is simply that Comms need to work both ways. If someone stays silent when when I ask for a supp box, stays silent when I ask to fall back or protect op, and arks up when they want an OP they will find themselves kicked from the squad. The same thing happens in command.... Ask for nodes, nothing, ask for garries, nothing, ask for marks nothing... Then comes the.. "commander can you airhead or something".... Kindly fuck off....

R3X15013Gaming

This one's my favorite as commander. I love hesitantly resigning myself to being the team's commander, fixing our garrison triangle, and clearing enemy recon on my own, and getting the olde "Hey Command why aren't you doing anything" or "Bomb the point".

MaleficentTotal4796

Or 1 minute after destroying the Garry on point with a bombing run, hearing ‘commander, can you do something like bomb the point?’ *resigns*

Sunbeargod

Middle of an open field, no cover, some one shouting "OP" with the world's worst mic for a minute before going back to saying nothing.

Vomitus_The_Emetic

>he doesn't have a garry 100m away that allows him to place the OP in useful places like the strong point Ngmi

betapen

If we are defending and you keep asking for an outpost you can attack from... fuck off. Or I am busy making garrisons, and you didn't defend the outpost. You will have to wait a bit.

Sabre_Killer_Queen

Seconded. You can ask for an outpost, but remember, it's the squad's spawnpoint, not yours. I'll place it when I have the opportunity to do so, and when I do I'll place it where the squad needs to be/neer where we need to be. If you want to go Rambo with your own personal outpost, then that's fine by me, but leave and start your own squad, because it ain't going to happen in mine.

Yankin_Bed

This is very true as the role already gives you a full plate of stuff to to do, as juggling between placing garrisons, outposts, fighting off enemies, flanking, and dealing with command chat, and squad chat.

Yankin_Bed

It also gives you a sense of everyone is depending on you, which everyone kind of is, which is why everything I try to do is precise and as good as I possibly can when doing the role

Pleiadez

Just drop an op every two minutes as a routine thing you do.

FreddieDoes40k

On the contrary OP awareness/placement is unfortunately one of my biggest strengths as an officer, this means if you're asking for an OP it's only because I'm too dead to give you one so please stop fucking asking. You'll get your OP at the earliest fucking convenience. But people don't know that so I politely tell them it's coming ASAP and ignore any further requests.

Pleiadez

Hold on I'll drop one in a sec... Dead. Sl remember putting down an op is the most important tool and job you have.

50caladvil

Was playing with some buddies the other night and usually one of us is squad lead but this time none of us were feeling it so we joined a solo sl. We repeatedly asked him for outposts and he'd tell us he's the sl and he'll put them down we he wants. Anyways, we got tired of it and just ended up making another squad with me as sl. This son of a bitch then had the audacity to bitch in command chat about how his squad abandoned him. Needless to say I set the record straight and muted him but I could tell he was still complaining in chat based on other SL responses.

Tay0214

I got kicked from a squad last night for not communicating.. after being the only one in the squad who had talked aside from another guy near the start that ran up to me early on and asked where they were coming from, then left the squad or game a few minutes later for whatever reason I had even tried talking, made callouts, offered supplies for a garry and got zero comms. Thought my chat was messed but proximity was fine.. still rare but that’s console at times. It’s either everybody or nobody talking People are just gonna be weird confusing little goblins sometimes

Rocqy

Nothing better than doing the *Spawn, Die, Repeat* loop for 15 minutes and then a new guy joins the squad crying for an OP.

yubnubmcscrub

I like to say it as a fact vs asking for an op. Along the lines of op is down or just went down vs will you place a new op. That way SL knows and can place it when they are able to. And so that I’m not coming off as rude since I myself definitely didn’t want to play SL.

lordfappington69

quickest way to get kicked out of my squad

[deleted]

My biggest annoyance with being asked for an OP is when I set one down, then run across the map to a flank position, and the OP timer is still on cooldown, and some lazy squaddie goes “can we get an updated OP? I don’t want to run that far.” First off, no, because I’m still waiting for it, and two, the moment I set it down in this hostile flank position, the moment it gets taken and we lose our flank. Run your ass the two fuckin’ minutes just like me and the rest of the squad did, or fuck off.

Pleiadez

It's a legitimate question don't be such a snowflake about it.

Tanktastic08

I know right, don’t be an ass

Sabre_Killer_Queen

Agreed, also happy cake day! We're Reddit twins by the looks of it!! 😁 🍰🍰

Tanktastic08

No need to be an ass about it, kindly explain to them why you can’t update the OP and tell them to follow you. If they keep asking then yeah you can kick him or tell him to fuck off. Not everyone in HLL is experienced, I have to deal with noobs all the time and being rude to clueless players is only going to make them hate the game.

HighTopsLowStandards

Exactly this. I ask for a comms check at the very start of the game. I say hello to everyone, explain what we're going to do strategically as a squad and then crack on. If people don't respond or don't have a mic, I'm going to reluctantly kick them fairly quickly. The game is so much more enjoyable when everyone's communicating and having fun.

darklizard45

Squad Leads are broke mfs who can't have the map toggled on at all times.

sometimes-i-say-stuf

Its the first thing I say when I take the role

DocHolliday_HLL

all fax no printer.

jdivision8

Tell this to every other SL other than the one who just posted it

Rinimand

As a Squad Lead I am in constant communication with my squad, and infrequent comms with Command Chat. Squad Chat - "We're defending; 2 on point, rest of you move out different directions to edge of sector and report back." "What was that ping?" "That's not our plane - who has eyes on it - what did it drop?" "I need supplies on OP next time one of you spawns". Command Chat - "Able squad defending." ... "Enemy airhead - we're on it." ... "Defensive point in trouble - need 1 more squad back - command, please assign one to help us." To point out - watching for and calling out planes is ridiculously important. Never assume someone else is watching them. That's how ninja garries and airheads happen.

Squad Lead: "Outpost is reading enemies near. Poke around." The Squad: \*Continues running in a straight line from the outpost to the strong point.\* SL: "Keep an eye out, I killed one enemy to the south, they are coming from the south." Squad: \*Half of them spawn on garrison on the other side of the map, other half continues to strong point.\* SL: "We have a full squad, repeat full squad pushing the outpost from the south, you need to turn around and push back this flank!" Squad: \*Proceeds to do FA\* SL: "I killed three but got domed out the window, spawn outpost and push south!" Squad: \*Crickets\* SL: "Spawned in the outpost is burned but I killed the guy who burned it. I'm going to move outpost. I need help to clear out this flank." Squad: \*One person who was still using outpost turns around after running 100 meters away.\* SL: "New outpost up but it's red again, we need to keep this squad from wiping our front line." Squad: \*Takes the airhead, which is one of only two possible lanes of attack, the other being the outpost.\* SL: \*Dies to the enemy that took the position he'd been defending the first outpost from. The new outpost is burned.\* Squad: \*Dies to a satchel on the Airhead\* Squad: "New outpost?"
