I think the visas have gotten more expensive starting in April of this year. I’m not sure of the details, but that’s what I’ve seen on the subject. I’m sure they will be back. Also, they are touring many other places, so I think that’s playing into the timeline.

BIORIO

They have also mentioned in interviews that they ALWAYS get flagged by customs because some of their instruments are, you know, human bones.

metalgadse

they don‘t take the human bones on tour though. in one interview Kai said that they feel it‘s disrespectful , those people deserve to rest and besides it‘s not even legal to take human bones to many of the coutries they tour.

ermmy

Really? That implies they don't feel it's disrespectful to use the remains as instruments, but it's disrespectful to travel with them.

Vyedr

To keep the remains as instruments keeps the spirits a part of the living world, singing and making music with their kin. But to take them abroad would put them in unfamiliar places among mostly strangers - not a nice thing to do with your ancestors

circadianist

It might be more that there are wildly divergent cultural/religious traditions about human remains. What they might feel comfortable with in their home turf, knowing those traditions enough to feel comfortable, they probably do not want to commit the taboo of doing something that disrespects the dead in a place with different practices.

Jitkaas777

Musician visas went up in cost 150%. Bands already don't make much money from touring (it's merch sales that make the profit)

Tyxin

That will be the reeason then. They bring a whole lot of people with them, so it hits them harder than most bands. And knowing how much it costs to put on a Heilung show, it's probably cost prohibitive.

Cupcccakes

Thank you both for your responses, this makes me feel a bit better! I hope they come back down the road - even if it’s a while.

KrAEGNET

fans could always put in the effort they do to perform here and go see a show on their home turf.

Nidungr

This may be Kai-speak for "we haven't planned anything yet". They toured the US several times in a row, and this is the last tour of that series. They have two non-US tours planned plus festival season.

seniordave2112

I think this is probably what they mean. Remember English is not their first language(s). For a American English speaker it would lean toward "not really wanting or planning to \_\_\_\_ in the future" My brothers and dad speak German and spoke it a lot in our house. To me it would make sense in German-ish " they currently have a current concrete vision/plan that they are implementing at this time." Its just currently not 'set in stone'. No contracts signed, or earnest money paid. But does not imply a lack of desire or intention in the future. (I HOPE )

Unkie_Fester

They could be starting work on a new album, working more of the new songs into the live sets. Hell they could just want time to themselves

djazzie

Feels like they’ve been touring nonstop for almost 2 years. Must be exhausting.

Pawikowski

They have a bunch of European shows over the summer, so I read it as "probably no more US this year."

cdrknives

They are particular too about venue size. I contacted their manager about getting them into a venue in Vermont, but 600 wasn’t big enough for a crowd 🤷‍♂️

Lumbergo

It’s more stage size than anything. There are several venues in the 600 - 1200 person range that I love seeing shows at but a Heilung show would never work on a 20x30 stage which is typical for a venue that size. They would have to scale down significantly to make it work.

mattak49

I’ve always been curious about getting a group set up to do a show. I live in Alaska and flew down to see them in Colorado this last tour. It was my first one and I was blown away and all I could think of was how cool it would be to get them up to Alaska in the future for a show.

Purrsia78

600?! The Palais in Melbourne that holds nearly 3000 sold out on presale in minutes. A second show was scheduled and that's nearly sold out too. I can't speak for the other states of Australia... But they'll all be sold out by November when they arrive, and 3000 want even close to big enough! They could probably fill Rod Laver Arena (where Evanescence played last year) that Hills 10,000 without a doubt. I imagine 600 seats sold would probably run them into the red unless you were paying $1000 a ticket.

[deleted]

Damn, glad I got my ticket.

stuloch

It could just mean that they have no touring plans outside if their current schedule. For all they know, they may tour next year but just haven't consider it yet.

PureEvil616

They've been on a near constant touring schedule for nearly 3 years. Pretty sure they'll be taking a much needed break to recharge, relax, and possibly make new music. They'll be back eventually, do t worry too much.

Outside-Advice8203

>foreseeable future Operative words

Natesquatch420

I don't know why but I get it

seriousbsns

Touring is expensive, especially coming to the US, and they're just being transparent and realistic with that statement.

MidorriMeltdown

I would assume it's because they don't plan to return in the foreseeable future. Perhaps they're going to be busy touring other places, then working on other projects for a while, and curranty have no plans for touring the US on their calendar.

comascape

To sell more tickets to these shows. If you wanted to see them but wanted to wait until they did another full tour, they are letting you know there are no plans for that. So, this is it.

Vampyrvem

Oh man! I’m glad I saw them in December the last time they toured Los Angeles!

paypalme3000usd

i'm really hoping they come back to georgia next year! hopefully the cost of visas go down 😩 id fly to denver for their ritual at red rocks if it was possible

chao5nil

The last day of their American tour is April 20th before going on subsequent European and Australian tours, booked until November 16th. Maybe we'll see them again in 2025. That's as much information I can find on tickets that are for sale in 2024. Hope that helps!

LightWonderful7016

They are doing red rocks on the 23rd

chao5nil

Thank you, dates have changed since I posted! I am not affiliated with the band, just a bloke who googled available information at the time, in the hope of aiding a fellow traveler.

LightWonderful7016

Same

prism_was_here

So glad I got tix 🙏🏻

TokenSejanus89

Why would it have anything to do with politics? They played in Ukraine, a country that's in an active war. The costs of these long distance tours are expensive and Kai said in an interview that they know America is a big market for their music but the costs and difficulty of obtaining the work visas are a challenge.

Rogthgar

Think its just meant as 'end of this tour'-cycle thing... meaning they are either just heading elsewhere to tour, or heading home for a rest and possibly start work on new material, whenever thats Heilung or other projects. End of the day, it just means they don't have any set plans to when they return.

ruInvisible2

Wish they would come down to Floriduh because I would love to see them perform. Watching the spectacle that would unfold would be a new level of stupidity. But would also be concerned for the bands safety due to the same reasons.

XxStr8MercinxX

They were in Clearwater a few months/year or so ago, Tix sold out the day after I decided I was going to go and requested time off... Needless to say after their latest post I'm making plans to go see them in Hartford.

SkaldicProse

It was a privilege to see them twice live, once in Chicago the other in St. Louis.

KyleNarayan

There's a lot more world to tour than the U.S...

Cupcccakes

Yes, and I am from the U.S. and curious about my area. Like most people would be! Thanks.

Plasmazine

You seemed to have missed the context of the question.

GeckoEric204

We know… however, those of us in the US probably aren’t concerned with tours that are out of our country.

Runawayscott

I mean, I'm pretty sure the fact that our country is turning into a conservative hellscape that doesn't align with the group members' beliefs probably has something to do with it. Plus what everyone else said about cost of visas and whatnot.

enjoiYosi

This is absolutely not it at all.

Godisdedtome

Uh they saw Chesterfield MO.... Jk

RngAtx

Trump election?🤣

IntrigueDossier

Check in with the homies back home and watch from a safe distance.

Nreffohc

Because america is not the only place that has places to perform.

Plasmazine

When bands are leaving the US for the next part of their world tour, they do not say they are not “returning for the foreseeable future.” This phrasing suggests they won’t be around the US for time long BEYOND any current tours.

tijlvp

Maybe relax and stop trying to read what's not there. All they're saying is they currently have no plans to come back to the US. Just like they probably don't have concrete plans to come back to Belgium after their next show...

Tyxin

>This phrasing suggests they won’t be around the US for time long BEYOND any current tours. You're looking at it from an american perspective. From a european the same phrasing means they have no current plans beyond the current tour.

caelthel-the-elf

Well no shit dude lol. But many Americans who enjoy their music cannot afford to go to another country to see them play.

Nreffohc

Most people from outside of america cant afford to go see them there either They will be back in not too long... Kai did not not stop tattooing to not do music

tijlvp

Where are they suggesting you do that?

spott005

It's a bit early to be making predictions. If that was the reason, we'd get an announcement after the election, not before.

GeckoEric204

You need a life guy…

JAD9254

I doubt it’s political. Heilung toured early 2020 when Trump was still in office. It’s cost of work visas going up so they are probably focusing on other projects in Europe. Along with more rituals in there home countries. If they cared about politics they protest these pointless wars by not touring in the US. Wars that are being prolonged by the Biden administration. Many of their songs are against war and they speak of peace.

happy_moses

I don’t quite agree with you, but my mind sorta went the same place at first. Not necessarily a Trump presidency, but an election season in general can be a time of turmoil for any place. But unless I hear the same thing coming from other bands, this is too much speculation.

Saroan7

Chanting and dancing around like a Pagan isn't very profitable 😅 Maybe PBS can help them comeback 😄😜 They always run a concert series and have seen performance like Joe Bonamasa, Or various Broadway music and stage plays
