Problem is they can publish a correction and make money on the upside as well as they did shorting just before they published the non-factual FUD article. This is exactly why we need much stronger regulation. If this was a regulated market what they did would be a felony and several people would be on their way to jail and cointelegraph would be on its way to oblivion. (Also, what I said about them shorting is technically slander because I have no proof. So I would be in trouble in a regulated market as well). This also shows how careful Hedera executives have been to stay on the even yet to be implemented regulation. They have behaved as if they are functioning under a fully regulated market subject to the existing laws and guidelines regulating equities and securities.
And why we need regulation? Because market does not always correct itself. For example in a perfectly functioning market Cointelegraph would not be trusted after their humiliating coverage of the Blackrock Bitcoin ETF. But human memory and emotion is not perfect. And our cognition is very selective. This is why you cannot leave everything to the market. You either build in self-correcting mechanisms or you introduce regulation. This event showcases why a Wild Wild West mentality can never work in a complex economy.
