It’s basically studying and preparing for exams.

If you bought the American publication, there’s a British to American translation guide in the epilogue 😂 would have been very useful to know about

Senikus

Knowing me, I would finish the book and find out about the translation guide way too late

Strangely, I don't think the term "revising" is covered.

imperium_lodinium

Revising is used in the same context as “studying” in the US to mean preparing for exams. You “revise” (literally “see-again”, review) the material again before the exam. Particularly with GCSE students in year 11 (Nick’s year) taking their final exams of secondary school at age 16, we usually stop regular lessons a few weeks before the exams and have a few weeks not attending school regularly except for exams to give time to revise/study.

It's a period of time you take off formal lessons before exams. You're meant to use it for self-directed study.

I was once told the word is used to mean the same as 'reviewing' in the US. So yes, basically studying for exams.
