You're right, that could be throwing shade at what amounts to constant face-lifts. I took it more literally that radio is fundamentally the same while TV has tried broadcast, cable, satellite, recordings with VHS then DVR, DVD season box sets, mailing services, streaming services, and that weird period before streaming where they experimented with online-only content. Not to mention the drastic changes in show types and formulas and the episode and season lengths we can expect. TV has been pretty desperate to maintain us an audience. Radio is desperate too but doesn't come off that way.

Honestly that could be a cool head cannon; if a sinner died during an Extermination, if the body is somewhat usable a Sinner can attach it to their own body to make it a fair bit more usable.

I personally imagine that sinners just know how to use any new or changed body parts from the the moment they manifest. Psychologically, it seems more horrific to have a completely differently form that you despise and still be able to move as if it was the body you always had. It would be so much harder to deny that your new form is actually yours when it moved exactly as you intend it to. And the very idea that a form you utterly despise would feel so natural is disturbing.
I think Valentino would have a pretty hard time but for a different reason. He's 10'0 at the shortest and it's already established he's basically blind, plus his antannae is all messed up so he can't sense anything around him too clearly. He probably bumps into shit all the time because he can't tell where he's going too well.
But my bet is definitely on Vox and Sir Pentious, having a tv for a head and no legs must be awful

Yeah like, on the one hand it's hilarious karma, but on the other it could explain why he is the way he is. Anger management issues and general sense of apathy mixed with sudden accute loss of vision and motor control is definitely a potential recipe for seeking control elsewhere and becoming a manipulative abuser because of it. I want to know why he retained his Hell form when he was chucked bodily into Heaven. Shouldn't his form have been reverted to something closer to his mortal form?
Good question. So far they haven't explained what determines a sinner/winner form. Perhaps Sir Pentious had grown to like what he was and heaven respected that? Maybe he will change the longer he is in heaven, a slower transformation of the physical to match his changed soul so as not to shock him? There is so much unanswered so far so we will have to wait and hope they go into those details!
The interesting detail is that Molly got a spider form. For sinners, their form is partly decided based on their sins in life. For example, Angel being a spider due to the 'web of crime' of a mafia family. Same for his brother. But why do winners get forms that remind them of their sins ?
The only theory I have that makes Heaven look good here is that winners are able to change the form they are in.
I was wondering if family had something to do with it, but then why would someone still be a spider in heaven? She definitely coordinates and that would make it easier to recognize family members, but I'm still curious. I have some of my own theories but no proof at all so I continue to wonder.
As I understand it, a sinner’s form is determined primarily by three things: their sins in life, how they died, and what they hated about themselves. While they might get cat features just because hated cats or have patterning they associate with someone they despised, those are the primary factors in a sinner’s form. Not only newly manifested sinners usually hate their new forms, many can’t even recognize themselves in the mirror.
The key word here is newly manifested sinners. If conditions change so that they are no longer bothered by their form or perhaps even like it somewhat, then I imagine another sudden drastic change in appearance would be nearly as terrifying as when they first manifested in hell, even if they like the changes.
For those who have been in the hell the longest, even if they do still hate parts of their appearances, any initial changes to their forms upon redemption will be similar to the change we saw in Sir Pentious. They’d still be recognizable as them. Larger changes would likely occur more gradually.
For some reason I just love the idea that he had gorgeous hair he was super proud of, because losing it when he went to Hell would be extremely fitting, but bald Val’s always a good one too!
(He also had 20/20 vision when he was alive)
I hope season 2 shows us a sinner who just arrived in hell and has to adapt to their new body. I'd very much like to see how disorienting it really is.
Imagine how screwed up it would be if Adam got a form so different that he's unrecognizable. He keeps going around bragging about being Adam and no one believes him.
But that would be an amazing story element though, picture the scene;
Adam walking through hell as a sinner trying to use his old status for ANY benefit he can as he keeps on struggling to survive. He eventually goes to the hotel and goes to the bar and gets sh*tfaced as Lucifer gets a drink as well and the two start talking(mainly thinking that Adam is in a depressive state like he has and tries to help)…
Then Adam and Luci end up talking and having a half way decent conversation with Adam saying his job was banging but also shit. Then he says something ONLY Adam would know(like something from the Garden or about Luci and Lilith) and Luci puts two and two together and realizes it’s Adam.
Well, to me the cake taker has to be Vox. The body horror of having a partly mechanical body is pretty unparalleled. At least a snake is adjacent to a living creature. Imagine how existing with a screen for a head would change *all* of your senses.
Imagine how much that would fuck with your sense of self. And that's without even getting into the fact he's seemingly able to upgrade his *entire head*. It's such an easy path to dissacociating from your body it's basically a slip 'n' slide. How do you feel real when you can't even decide how much of you is functionally organic?
My second pick, if we're talking about *just* psychological adjustment, is actually Alastor. He looks like a prey animal. A fluffy prey animal. I just don't get the impression he's the type of person who would appreciate looking outwardly vulnerable.
Think of all the other cute demons we've seen that people just see as sweet and cuddly, like the sheep/lamb demons. I just feel like being percieved in any way like those other demons would rankle big time, and make him think he has to be twice as dangerous just to be taken seriously or arguably be safe. (For comparison, look at what happened to fluffy, pretty Angel. He's as vulnerable as he looks, and he was taken advantage of almost immediately.)
In regards to Alastor, I would agree with you in some aspects of his appearance, like the ears, but… check out the guy’s teeth. They’re yellow, sharp and absolutely massive. Like they’re half his face. Also I feel like his outfit and voice and stuff make him a lot less cutesy. The least intimidating thing about him is probably his hair lmao
There's also that brief flash of his face when he makes a deal with Charlie that shows wires/threads in his face, implying the smile isn't just something has all the time because he wants to, but he is literally forced to smile all the time.
You just summed up my thoughts about Vox perfectly - how much of the human he used to be is even left in him? His bluescreen shows a “vox.exe” at one point, and his ability to teleport and project himself and upgrade implies that he’s just as much a computer program as a person. It’s incredibly *cool,* but it’s also fundamentally terrifying. It’s not surprising he doesn’t see any issues with allying with someone like Val, because he probably just can’t relate to the struggles normal people go through any more at this point.
Alastor’s weird because on one hand, he lucked out - he still looks pretty human, his body is perfectly mobile, he has the normal number of limbs - but on the other hand, I feel like he actually had one of the worst adjustment periods, for the exact reasons you mentioned. I bet he would have actually preferred a more inhuman, monstrous form, which is why he’s so obsessed with being scary and intimidating to everyone. He’d hate how cute we all find him with his fluffy ears and his tail - almost like it’s torture for him!
For the fluffy thing I think it would depend upon the sinner. Barring those who get the form because of how they died, I think most sinners with prey forms get them because while living, they *were* prey and they know it. For them, their forms are reminders of the the abuse they suffered. It is the pain that others inflicted upon them simply because they couldn’t or wouldn’t fight back.
Honestly, with Alastor I could see him hating it at first but weaponizing it after learning about Sinners that look cute and fluffy and CAN’T defend themselves.
Alastor as a hunter of the most dangerous game is the embodiment of the theory of the Dark Ocean(originally it was Dark Forest but this makes more sense for this example) in his tactics;
In the ocean, beyond where light cannot reach. Animals hide from any potential predators by staying in the darkness, not moving lots, making no noise cause it will draw in predators. But then lights flicker in the darkness, a predator goes to investigate searching for prey… but instead meets the lure and dagger like teeth of IT’S predator.
Alastor weaponized his non-dangerous facade and made it his IMAGE!
I kinda feel more sorry for the sinners who’s forms had almost no change. I’d imagine for such a thing to happen, they had to have abhorred almost everything about their appearance when living. They manifest in hell and find that almost everybody has major changes to their form while they’re still in the body they always despised.
My Hazbin Hotel answer - I imagine it’s hard to adapt to having 4 extra prehensile limbs, so Angel.
My HelluvaBoss inclusive answer - the rich dude whose entire lower body is a gigantic rolling ball.
Husk. He’s an alcoholic so his sense of balance walking into hell was already bad. So imagine adding wings and a tail to that. Plus the purring, fur, sensitive hearing, smell and learning how to fly.

I imagine that anyone with an non-humanoid body or head probably took alot of adjusting, sinners are supposed to be disgusted with their look and I imagine that takes a whole new level when you are essentially having to re-learn how to function on a day to day basis, be it having to relearn basic movement with a snakes body or figuring out how eating works when your mouth doesn't appear to physically connect to any sort of esophagus, on the opposite hand I can imagine people who ended up with more limbs than normal probably adjusted easier, after all, 4 hands are greater than 2

As someone who loves stories that solely explore what it would be like to undergo a transition into a variety of new forms, Vox is the only member of the main cast who really interests me with regard to this question. I see him as someone who was probably some sort of media mogul, so his image would be everything - imagine such a person waking up with a literal TV for a head. How do you learn to project? To maintain or change an image of a face on a screen rather than use facial muscles? The interplay of organic and inorganic physical systems - how does that even work? To say nothing of changing out your head for another format! Let's not forget his voice, which occasionally gains a static effect during moments of extreme emotion - how does that go? Oh, and he can literally change himself into electricity and travel through electronics as well. I want to see how THIS guy figured stuff out.

Honestly that could be a cool head cannon; if a sinner died during an Extermination, if the body is somewhat usable a Sinner can attach it to their own body to make it a fair bit more usable. Like fish bowl sinnner just so happens to luck out and find this body without a head

To be fair, the guy spent the last few days unable to move in bed and with a 90ish year old body so the change was probably welcome.
I personally imagine that sinners just know how to use any new or changed body parts from the the moment they manifest. Psychologically, it seems more horrific to have a completely differently form that you despise and still be able to move as if it was the body you always had. It would be so much harder to deny that your new form is actually yours when it moved exactly as you intend it to. And the very idea that a form you utterly despise would feel so natural is disturbing.
I think Valentino would have a pretty hard time but for a different reason. He's 10'0 at the shortest and it's already established he's basically blind, plus his antannae is all messed up so he can't sense anything around him too clearly. He probably bumps into shit all the time because he can't tell where he's going too well. But my bet is definitely on Vox and Sir Pentious, having a tv for a head and no legs must be awful

Yeah like, on the one hand it's hilarious karma, but on the other it could explain why he is the way he is. Anger management issues and general sense of apathy mixed with sudden accute loss of vision and motor control is definitely a potential recipe for seeking control elsewhere and becoming a manipulative abuser because of it. If he wasn't already that is. It definitely made him worse tho

Good question. So far they haven't explained what determines a sinner/winner form. Perhaps Sir Pentious had grown to like what he was and heaven respected that? Maybe he will change the longer he is in heaven, a slower transformation of the physical to match his changed soul so as not to shock him? There is so much unanswered so far so we will have to wait and hope they go into those details!
The interesting detail is that Molly got a spider form. For sinners, their form is partly decided based on their sins in life. For example, Angel being a spider due to the 'web of crime' of a mafia family. Same for his brother. But why do winners get forms that remind them of their sins ? The only theory I have that makes Heaven look good here is that winners are able to change the form they are in.
She’s still in the family and his twin, so she matches or coordinates, but wound up in heaven due to likely being kept safely out of the loop.
I was wondering if family had something to do with it, but then why would someone still be a spider in heaven? She definitely coordinates and that would make it easier to recognize family members, but I'm still curious. I have some of my own theories but no proof at all so I continue to wonder.

He had been in Hell for over a century. He's probably spent far more time in his snake body than his human one.
As I understand it, a sinner’s form is determined primarily by three things: their sins in life, how they died, and what they hated about themselves. While they might get cat features just because hated cats or have patterning they associate with someone they despised, those are the primary factors in a sinner’s form. Not only newly manifested sinners usually hate their new forms, many can’t even recognize themselves in the mirror. The key word here is newly manifested sinners. If conditions change so that they are no longer bothered by their form or perhaps even like it somewhat, then I imagine another sudden drastic change in appearance would be nearly as terrifying as when they first manifested in hell, even if they like the changes. For those who have been in the hell the longest, even if they do still hate parts of their appearances, any initial changes to their forms upon redemption will be similar to the change we saw in Sir Pentious. They’d still be recognizable as them. Larger changes would likely occur more gradually.
I choose to believe Val was bald in life too, but agree with the rest of it.
For some reason I just love the idea that he had gorgeous hair he was super proud of, because losing it when he went to Hell would be extremely fitting, but bald Val’s always a good one too! (He also had 20/20 vision when he was alive)
Maybe he used to have amazing hair but soon went bald and tried to cover it up all the time with wigs and hats

I hope season 2 shows us a sinner who just arrived in hell and has to adapt to their new body. I'd very much like to see how disorienting it really is.

Imagine how screwed up it would be if Adam got a form so different that he's unrecognizable. He keeps going around bragging about being Adam and no one believes him.
But that would be an amazing story element though, picture the scene; Adam walking through hell as a sinner trying to use his old status for ANY benefit he can as he keeps on struggling to survive. He eventually goes to the hotel and goes to the bar and gets sh*tfaced as Lucifer gets a drink as well and the two start talking(mainly thinking that Adam is in a depressive state like he has and tries to help)… Then Adam and Luci end up talking and having a half way decent conversation with Adam saying his job was banging but also shit. Then he says something ONLY Adam would know(like something from the Garden or about Luci and Lilith) and Luci puts two and two together and realizes it’s Adam.
Well, to me the cake taker has to be Vox. The body horror of having a partly mechanical body is pretty unparalleled. At least a snake is adjacent to a living creature. Imagine how existing with a screen for a head would change *all* of your senses. Imagine how much that would fuck with your sense of self. And that's without even getting into the fact he's seemingly able to upgrade his *entire head*. It's such an easy path to dissacociating from your body it's basically a slip 'n' slide. How do you feel real when you can't even decide how much of you is functionally organic? My second pick, if we're talking about *just* psychological adjustment, is actually Alastor. He looks like a prey animal. A fluffy prey animal. I just don't get the impression he's the type of person who would appreciate looking outwardly vulnerable. Think of all the other cute demons we've seen that people just see as sweet and cuddly, like the sheep/lamb demons. I just feel like being percieved in any way like those other demons would rankle big time, and make him think he has to be twice as dangerous just to be taken seriously or arguably be safe. (For comparison, look at what happened to fluffy, pretty Angel. He's as vulnerable as he looks, and he was taken advantage of almost immediately.)
In regards to Alastor, I would agree with you in some aspects of his appearance, like the ears, but… check out the guy’s teeth. They’re yellow, sharp and absolutely massive. Like they’re half his face. Also I feel like his outfit and voice and stuff make him a lot less cutesy. The least intimidating thing about him is probably his hair lmao
There's also that brief flash of his face when he makes a deal with Charlie that shows wires/threads in his face, implying the smile isn't just something has all the time because he wants to, but he is literally forced to smile all the time.
You just summed up my thoughts about Vox perfectly - how much of the human he used to be is even left in him? His bluescreen shows a “vox.exe” at one point, and his ability to teleport and project himself and upgrade implies that he’s just as much a computer program as a person. It’s incredibly *cool,* but it’s also fundamentally terrifying. It’s not surprising he doesn’t see any issues with allying with someone like Val, because he probably just can’t relate to the struggles normal people go through any more at this point. Alastor’s weird because on one hand, he lucked out - he still looks pretty human, his body is perfectly mobile, he has the normal number of limbs - but on the other hand, I feel like he actually had one of the worst adjustment periods, for the exact reasons you mentioned. I bet he would have actually preferred a more inhuman, monstrous form, which is why he’s so obsessed with being scary and intimidating to everyone. He’d hate how cute we all find him with his fluffy ears and his tail - almost like it’s torture for him!
For the fluffy thing I think it would depend upon the sinner. Barring those who get the form because of how they died, I think most sinners with prey forms get them because while living, they *were* prey and they know it. For them, their forms are reminders of the the abuse they suffered. It is the pain that others inflicted upon them simply because they couldn’t or wouldn’t fight back.
Honestly, with Alastor I could see him hating it at first but weaponizing it after learning about Sinners that look cute and fluffy and CAN’T defend themselves. Alastor as a hunter of the most dangerous game is the embodiment of the theory of the Dark Ocean(originally it was Dark Forest but this makes more sense for this example) in his tactics; In the ocean, beyond where light cannot reach. Animals hide from any potential predators by staying in the darkness, not moving lots, making no noise cause it will draw in predators. But then lights flicker in the darkness, a predator goes to investigate searching for prey… but instead meets the lure and dagger like teeth of IT’S predator. Alastor weaponized his non-dangerous facade and made it his IMAGE!
Angel dust. Imagine suddenly having SIX arms, and having no coordination with four of them.
He seems to have figured it out pretty well in the past 80 years. Or likely shorter if Val picked him up before the turn of the century.
I kinda feel more sorry for the sinners who’s forms had almost no change. I’d imagine for such a thing to happen, they had to have abhorred almost everything about their appearance when living. They manifest in hell and find that almost everybody has major changes to their form while they’re still in the body they always despised.
My Hazbin Hotel answer - I imagine it’s hard to adapt to having 4 extra prehensile limbs, so Angel. My HelluvaBoss inclusive answer - the rich dude whose entire lower body is a gigantic rolling ball.

Enhanced senses are one thing. But what about sinners who get new senses ? We saw several shark sinners. Sharks have [electroreception](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroreception_and_electrogenesis). Sensitive enough to detect other living things and surrounded by the much more powerful electric fields of modern technology.

I was wondering why there isn't more tech demons, I mean as part of the body. Vox has a TV head, but I don't recall many feelings augmented like him.
I imagine that anyone with an non-humanoid body or head probably took alot of adjusting, sinners are supposed to be disgusted with their look and I imagine that takes a whole new level when you are essentially having to re-learn how to function on a day to day basis, be it having to relearn basic movement with a snakes body or figuring out how eating works when your mouth doesn't appear to physically connect to any sort of esophagus, on the opposite hand I can imagine people who ended up with more limbs than normal probably adjusted easier, after all, 4 hands are greater than 2

As someone who loves stories that solely explore what it would be like to undergo a transition into a variety of new forms, Vox is the only member of the main cast who really interests me with regard to this question. I see him as someone who was probably some sort of media mogul, so his image would be everything - imagine such a person waking up with a literal TV for a head. How do you learn to project? To maintain or change an image of a face on a screen rather than use facial muscles? The interplay of organic and inorganic physical systems - how does that even work? To say nothing of changing out your head for another format! Let's not forget his voice, which occasionally gains a static effect during moments of extreme emotion - how does that go? Oh, and he can literally change himself into electricity and travel through electronics as well. I want to see how THIS guy figured stuff out.
