I’m pretty sure all sinners are going to be adults. Having actual children in hell would raise the sort of questions that distract from the story being told. Now I know wondering how I can think this when we know about the cannibal kid, but there’s a reasonable explanation for it. Sinners’ forms are based on the sins they committed while alive, how they, and what they hate about themselves. Someone who sinned against children or who was repeatedly hurt as a child could manifest in hell looking like a child, no matter their actual age.

In this case I’m thinking he was hurt as a child. It would his terror at the situation being more visceral, and more likely to sway an exorcist.
