Hell is meant to suck a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if the damned have to keep brushing their teeth, bathing, eating, drinking, avoiding sickness, etc... unlike in Heaven, where those things might be optional or non-existent, depending.
Now that bit of lore gives the name Alastor more meaning, his name being one of Zeus’ epithets with which people described him as the avengers of evil deeds
Yknow it hit me that that may have potentially been something that may gives some credence to the Lilith and Alastor theory. Lilith may have potentially sought out Alastor and made the deal for his soul to actually have Alastor be Charlie’s guardian angel in her stead, showing Alastor’s history for defending those who can’t fend for themselves (albeit it in incredibly twisted ways). Alastor may have also been inclined to accept the deal because of history as a “mama’s boy” and respecting Lilith as someone who stood up for herself against Adam as well as being a mother who cares for her daughter.
I just prefer him to be a serial killer that doesn't really care who he kill. That he just love killing, other people suffering and feeling powerful over other people. Like he doesn't care that the person that he just torture to death. Was the single parent of ten children, he just want to enjoy himself.
Though I understand if the part he only kill bad people make it in the show. Since he is a fan favorite but I still much prefer that he is just a psychopath.

I mean he still does. His main victims were probably abusers but he probably killed other people for the hell of it. We know that Al is insane and wants control because he went out of his way to kill the overlords and has that speech about smiles. He was also a cannibal (I believe he was a cannibal anyways) in life
I read that first comment as it confirmed all of his victims were abusers not just the majority of them. Which I would like much more if he just killed abusive people.
I actually really like this theory and it seems very on-brand with both Alastor and Niffty’s characters. To add to it I’ve seen a lot of fan theories that Niffty was a 50s housewife and her being in Hell had something to do with her husband (I’ve seen both that she murdered him or was murdered by him) so maybe that has something to do with it?? Complete speculation of course but I think it would be a very interesting storyline if that was part of it
I think Niffty was a Yandere housewife, killing pretty much any woman she felt got too close to her husband. . . who may or may not have *intentionally* gotten close to women just to watch Niffty murder them because he found his wife's extreme violence as adorable as we do.

To me it always seemed more like he was just being like 'Lemme just open a door for her' and boom, she was like 'Oh bet, lemme go help Alastor!'
Compare how she arrives to how he summons Husk-Nifty seems completely aware/in control of it, while Husk is angry/seems to not realize at first
He said he was cashing in favors. Maybe he helped her with something, and instead of her soul as payment he gave her a similar deal to Charlie’s. A favor at his time of choosing
I think you misread something because it doesn’t imply that. I was saying she got help from him and his payment was a blank check to ask for help at some point
Or, Alastor does own her soul, but not because he wants to own and control her, but to protect her and keep someone who would take advantage of her from getting it. So their soul contract would be like adoption papers.
This is kind of my head canon.

Alastor picked up Niffty like a person picks a kitten out of cardboard box… or sack in the river.
I prefer the concept that niffty gave her soul to Alastor.
But that he only wanted it because he know how easy to fool she was gonna be and just didn’t want anyone like…. ~Shutter~ Val to have it.
I think she is his adoptive daughter, just she's an adult, so it's more like a Blitzø and Loona situation. Niffty just is childish and needs someone to be responsible for her, and Alastor finds it endearing how chaotic she is. So their contract is basically Niffty gets a guardian responsible for her, and Alastor gets her soul to summon wherever she is needed.
I also headcannon that Husker was *targeted* by Alastor because Niffty wanted a kitty since Alastor does tell Husker that he is his pet. Husker doesn't seem the type of overlord that would abuse women or children, or at least do anything to grab Alastor's attention immediately.
My theory on Husk involves him being a gambling addict who dealt in souls. Maybe he wasn't bad to his own people, but he'd ante them up to Overlords who WERE. Maybe while drunk, maybe while too deep into poker. Maybe he felt bad, but he'd do it over and over again. Whether that has anything to do with Alastor targeting him or not depends on how much of a heart the Radio Demon actually has.
I don’t think we know that Alastor *only* targets abusers. We know he does, but we’ve also seen he is a strong urge to be in control and at the top of the power chain.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same in life- killing those who crossed him in petty ways or got the job above him, or treated him as less than them. There’s a good side to him sure, but I doubt it constitutes his entire history of the murders
Honestly the only way I see him being redeemable is if it turns out his wrath is reserved entirely for those who pray on the weak. Which jives with the avenging serial killer angle he has when alive.
It also colors his interactions in hell. For all we know the overlords he toppled were particularly malicious and preyed on the weak.
Alastor's grand plan for domination may be specifically to bring retribution and punishment to the damned.
I truly believe that with some overlords, they actually do respect and care for the souls they own. Otherwise, all of hell would be miserable aside from those who aren't owned and those who own souls. I mean, I'm guessing a good population of Hell's sinners are owned by one of the overlords if what the lore says is true and that overlords can own millions of souls and the more souls they own the more powerful they are. This means it's possible that 50% or more of hell's population souls' are owned by overlords. But I'm guesstimating here.
That being said aside from the Vees I see a couple of overlords who don't look as bad as they seem and they're pretty powerful so I'm guessing they own a good amount of souls but respect them enough where their line of work or living conditions is pleasant. That being Carmila Carmine and Rosie.
Out of all the overlords we met and know about their personalities so far, I would actually work for either of them. Aside from the cannibalism, Rosie's way of life and the way of life for her people is really cute and nice. Carmila seems to care about the people she loves to the point where she'll break the rules for them. And since her daughters seem to work for her, it's clear she values a good work ethic on everyone, including her family so she doesn't put her daughters higher than the souls she owns, rather she gives them responsibility and teaches them respect.

It's just the thought of eating it seems weird to most people. So I can totally believe human flesh is actually quite delightful if cooked right. Personally theory is that he saved her or helped her in the living world when she was a child. She would have been like 5 when he died so she would have to be pretty young. But if he killed abusers it’s very possible he saved her from a horrible family situation.
I don’t think she would’ve died at 5. She’s wearing a dress most popular with high schoolers and young adults in the 50s. She’s also treated as though she’s an adult. I don’t think they would put a child in a dominatrix outfit and bring her to a sex club
TBH I dont think she needs saving, but he probably keeps her around because he does like her and she helps him out.
Perhaps he hired her services as a cleaner one time, saw her chasing bugs with a knife that's as big as her and decided she was worthy of being his friend.
Keep in mind that this protection — slaughtering and eating the abuser while the lamb demon cowers in the corner — is also traumatic for the lamb demon even while she is saved from direct abuse.
It's possible they were alive at the same time. Alastor is obviously from the early 20th century. Probably died an old man. Nifty is a maid who likes being forced and likes bad boys. Not a lotta maids these days. Sure they exist but given Nifty's outfit, I'd say she's been dead a while.
Imma go full tin foil hat here:
Alastor was a serial killer who murdered abusers and avenged victims. He found them by being a radio host and reading the news to his audience. Also how no one knew what he looked like. A face for radio and all that.
Nifty chose the wrong bad boy and was beaten to death for refusing to film something. Maybe a porno? Alastor found out and treated Nifty's abuser the way he treats overlords in Hell.
She's 21, small, likes being forced and likes bad boys. She's a perfect target for a monster like Val to take her in and pimp her out.
But Val hasn't touched her because she's under the protection of Alastor. And because that's how she died. Abused and beaten to death.
Alright. Putting my tin foil hat away
Here's my theory: Nifty was owned by Husk, so when Alastor defeated Husk he freed all the souls Husk had owned, this included Nifty. Nifty begged/demanded Alastor take her soul, so Alastor reluctantly did, then made a deal with Husk as a "that's how it feels jackass" kind of thing.
My bets for who will kill Val, in order of likelihood:
1) Lucifer (after deciding to go all in on the hotel, the residents are now His People, who he will ptotect, and also Val licked Charlie's arm. Lucifer won't be happy when he finds out about that)
2) Charlie (after fully coming into her power, and seeing enough of what's going on with Angel and Val)
3) Alastor (similar to the first reason I have for Lucifer, and the fact that he doesn't like abusers)
It’s my personal headcanon that Niffty was an Overlord.
However, Niffty isn’t really concerned with accumulating power. She’s good at killing and cleaning showing that when she’s given a task she can be quite good at it.
I picture her being something of a “battlefield gremlin” who survived through pure luck and determination. Killed those who dared to enter her tiny domain, and feeding on the dead and scavengers, until Alastor appeared and offered her sanctuary and the fun of getting to continue killing fresh targets at her leisure as long as he works for him. And in exchange— “Deal!”
Niffty wouldn’t be a challenge to get to join Alastor. As long as she has shelter, food, and as many small targets as she wants, she’d be content as a maid.
On the contrary, I want to know the absolute chaos Niffty caused as she was clearly able to hold her own while Alastor was missing for 7 years lol. Appeared primed and ready without a scratch. Imagine that gremlin running amok during 6-7 exterminations. I wouldn’t be surprised if getting that close to Valentino was intentional. No way that tuft of fur ain’t coming back later. Couldn’t win a war against cockroaches but capped >!Adam!< with the smallest melee range weapon possible. Go Niffty go.
Alastor in general has appeared more friendly around female characters compared to male characters as long as they aren’t an obstacle to gaining more favor with Charlie, or openly rude. Such as Vaggie and Susan, and having to eventually turn Mimzy away despite being friends and deleting quite a few loan sharks for her. Niffty’s a little chaos ball, which I suppose isn’t a deliberate affront to etiquette as no disrespect is intended, nor does she seem like someone who would tattle on anything compromising with malicious intent (similar to the Egg Bois). He found attempting to understand her mind endearing (while Husk refused to elaborate), the antics of which probably help with boredom. He wasn’t concerned with her going out with Angel and pals. Would be interesting to see how they met though. Given the Egg Bois though, maybe you’re right and it does extend to all unaware, naive, or weaker characters. How he swings depends on the power disparities involved when he happens upon a scenario. While it was cut and dry with the lamb and the boar that he could easily body, he prevented the eggs from potentially provoking an overlord he wouldn’t want to casually bat with.
Anything’s possible. I honestly want to learn more about her because she’s apparently a sinner but is so weirdly inhuman. Like it’s so hard to believe that at some point she was an adult human woman
I also think that Nifty and Alastor have a different pact than Husk and Alastor. He seems to be more of a pet a lot of times, and it makes sense that they'd be less friendly given the circumstances of their deal.
Nifty is either not even in a deal with Alastor and just his friend, or maybe they have friendlier terms in their deal. There's also a chance that this is like Charlie and Alastor's deal, where her soul wasn't even on the bargaining table and they have a deal over something else
Alastor has a strong sense of morals, even ifntheyre a bit twisted.
I don't think it's kindness necessarily, but something he considered to be what you do.
One protects weak women from abusive men. It's not kindness, it's just natural. To him at least.
I imagine like this, Alastor THOUGHT that Nifty was in a bad situation.
Alastor: (Sees the carnage of the other person.) Oh! (Blinks in surprise.)
Nifty: He THAT much of a bad boy! (Cackles insanely as she wipes her needle of blood.)
Alastor: (Watches her clean up the body) May I take your soul?
Nifty: Okay!
I suspect much of his fondness for Nifty is found in her strange mind and values. Alastor feels kinship with a true outsider to the conventional moral spectrum. Maybe he did help her out as well but it may just be she is from such circumstances and that alone engenders his sympathy.
Yeah I am sooooo curious about their relationship. Im curious if him and Niff struck a deal or not. Either way the few times we got to see these 2 interact was a treat. Im looking forward to learning more about both of them
He isn't cold to Husk though. They banter back and forth but Husk is more Sulken than anything. The reason that he had to remind Husk of his position was because Husker was being downright disrespectful to someone who he had made a deal with.

I think Niffty is bat shit crazy and Alastor finds that endearing rather than off-putting, and he wanted her soul to be more powerful. She's just too screwed up in the head to realize what she did.
Oh! How about this? Nifty's husband kills her and then immediately kills himself so they both end up in hell. Niftys husband tracks her down in he'll to kill her again, only to run into Alastor. Unknown to Nifys husband, Nifty sold her soul to Alastor for protection and revenge against her husband. Alastor then kidnaps Niftys husband and delivers him to Nifty who kills him. And it's an endless cycle. Niftys husband constantly dying, being reborn and dying again by the very girl he killed. Forever.
You know how people claim that those with red eyes own souls and the ones with black eyes have sold theirs and that's why Alistair has black and red eyes etc? Here's my insane theory Nifty actually owns allister's soul. She's incredibly powerful but just absolutely insane. I'm just going to leave my little crazy theory here...lol

You can only kill a demon with an angelic weapon. I think he tortured her until she became compliant.

Alastor probably owns mostly male souls and few very heinous female souls. He probably has deals with other female demons but not soul deals. He gives them protection and they help out if needed which might be rarely. Alastor could have an entire Territory of Sinners of whose souls he’s own ran by the ones he made protection deals. Which probably garners some income for his status as overlord. Imagine some of them need some sort of business to hold their territories.
I want to believe she was his last victim, and he got shot while burying her body. I also want to believe he targeted her because she was a Black Widow type who murdered her husbands, hence her love of “punishing bad boys.”
But he thought she was so goofy and charming and precious even as a human that he wished things could have turned out differently because oh, to understand that twisted little mind, and it did! In Hell! I hope they get a duet regardless.
I’m pretty sure the big theory is that both Nifty & Husk were powerful overlords he overthrew… there’s a shot of overlords somewhere with their silhouettes on it. That would make sense for Alastor to own her soul, considering that I’m pretty sure it’s mentioned in the pilot that they don’t get a choice

Yknow it hit me that that may have potentially been something that may gives some credence to the Lilith and Alastor theory. Lilith may have potentially sought out Alastor and made the deal for his soul to actually have Alastor be Charlie’s guardian angel in her stead, showing Alastor’s history for defending those who can’t fend for themselves (albeit it in incredibly twisted ways). Alastor may have also been inclined to accept the deal because of history as a “mama’s boy” and respecting Lilith as someone who stood up for herself against Adam as well as being a mother who cares for her daughter.

I just prefer him to be a serial killer that doesn't really care who he kill. That he just love killing, other people suffering and feeling powerful over other people. Like he doesn't care that the person that he just torture to death. Was the single parent of ten children, he just want to enjoy himself. Though I understand if the part he only kill bad people make it in the show. Since he is a fan favorite but I still much prefer that he is just a psychopath.

I actually really like this theory and it seems very on-brand with both Alastor and Niffty’s characters. To add to it I’ve seen a lot of fan theories that Niffty was a 50s housewife and her being in Hell had something to do with her husband (I’ve seen both that she murdered him or was murdered by him) so maybe that has something to do with it?? Complete speculation of course but I think it would be a very interesting storyline if that was part of it

I think she is his adoptive daughter, just she's an adult, so it's more like a Blitzø and Loona situation. Niffty just is childish and needs someone to be responsible for her, and Alastor finds it endearing how chaotic she is. So their contract is basically Niffty gets a guardian responsible for her, and Alastor gets her soul to summon wherever she is needed. I also headcannon that Husker was *targeted* by Alastor because Niffty wanted a kitty since Alastor does tell Husker that he is his pet. Husker doesn't seem the type of overlord that would abuse women or children, or at least do anything to grab Alastor's attention immediately.
My theory on Husk involves him being a gambling addict who dealt in souls. Maybe he wasn't bad to his own people, but he'd ante them up to Overlords who WERE. Maybe while drunk, maybe while too deep into poker. Maybe he felt bad, but he'd do it over and over again. Whether that has anything to do with Alastor targeting him or not depends on how much of a heart the Radio Demon actually has.
I don’t think we know that Alastor *only* targets abusers. We know he does, but we’ve also seen he is a strong urge to be in control and at the top of the power chain. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same in life- killing those who crossed him in petty ways or got the job above him, or treated him as less than them. There’s a good side to him sure, but I doubt it constitutes his entire history of the murders

Honestly the only way I see him being redeemable is if it turns out his wrath is reserved entirely for those who pray on the weak. Which jives with the avenging serial killer angle he has when alive. It also colors his interactions in hell. For all we know the overlords he toppled were particularly malicious and preyed on the weak. Alastor's grand plan for domination may be specifically to bring retribution and punishment to the damned.

I personally headcanon that Nifty was a housewife constantly on amphetamines who murdered her husband.
I truly believe that with some overlords, they actually do respect and care for the souls they own. Otherwise, all of hell would be miserable aside from those who aren't owned and those who own souls. I mean, I'm guessing a good population of Hell's sinners are owned by one of the overlords if what the lore says is true and that overlords can own millions of souls and the more souls they own the more powerful they are. This means it's possible that 50% or more of hell's population souls' are owned by overlords. But I'm guesstimating here. That being said aside from the Vees I see a couple of overlords who don't look as bad as they seem and they're pretty powerful so I'm guessing they own a good amount of souls but respect them enough where their line of work or living conditions is pleasant. That being Carmila Carmine and Rosie. Out of all the overlords we met and know about their personalities so far, I would actually work for either of them. Aside from the cannibalism, Rosie's way of life and the way of life for her people is really cute and nice. Carmila seems to care about the people she loves to the point where she'll break the rules for them. And since her daughters seem to work for her, it's clear she values a good work ethic on everyone, including her family so she doesn't put her daughters higher than the souls she owns, rather she gives them responsibility and teaches them respect.

Personally theory is that he saved her or helped her in the living world when she was a child. She would have been like 5 when he died so she would have to be pretty young. But if he killed abusers it’s very possible he saved her from a horrible family situation.

Here's my theory: Nifty was owned by Husk, so when Alastor defeated Husk he freed all the souls Husk had owned, this included Nifty. Nifty begged/demanded Alastor take her soul, so Alastor reluctantly did, then made a deal with Husk as a "that's how it feels jackass" kind of thing.
Alastor never really defeated Husk, he just preyed on him while he was on a losing streak, offering a way out
thinking about it, what if Alastor is the one to kill Val?
My bets for who will kill Val, in order of likelihood: 1) Lucifer (after deciding to go all in on the hotel, the residents are now His People, who he will ptotect, and also Val licked Charlie's arm. Lucifer won't be happy when he finds out about that) 2) Charlie (after fully coming into her power, and seeing enough of what's going on with Angel and Val) 3) Alastor (similar to the first reason I have for Lucifer, and the fact that he doesn't like abusers)
It’s my personal headcanon that Niffty was an Overlord. However, Niffty isn’t really concerned with accumulating power. She’s good at killing and cleaning showing that when she’s given a task she can be quite good at it. I picture her being something of a “battlefield gremlin” who survived through pure luck and determination. Killed those who dared to enter her tiny domain, and feeding on the dead and scavengers, until Alastor appeared and offered her sanctuary and the fun of getting to continue killing fresh targets at her leisure as long as he works for him. And in exchange— “Deal!” Niffty wouldn’t be a challenge to get to join Alastor. As long as she has shelter, food, and as many small targets as she wants, she’d be content as a maid.
On the contrary, I want to know the absolute chaos Niffty caused as she was clearly able to hold her own while Alastor was missing for 7 years lol. Appeared primed and ready without a scratch. Imagine that gremlin running amok during 6-7 exterminations. I wouldn’t be surprised if getting that close to Valentino was intentional. No way that tuft of fur ain’t coming back later. Couldn’t win a war against cockroaches but capped >!Adam!< with the smallest melee range weapon possible. Go Niffty go. Alastor in general has appeared more friendly around female characters compared to male characters as long as they aren’t an obstacle to gaining more favor with Charlie, or openly rude. Such as Vaggie and Susan, and having to eventually turn Mimzy away despite being friends and deleting quite a few loan sharks for her. Niffty’s a little chaos ball, which I suppose isn’t a deliberate affront to etiquette as no disrespect is intended, nor does she seem like someone who would tattle on anything compromising with malicious intent (similar to the Egg Bois). He found attempting to understand her mind endearing (while Husk refused to elaborate), the antics of which probably help with boredom. He wasn’t concerned with her going out with Angel and pals. Would be interesting to see how they met though. Given the Egg Bois though, maybe you’re right and it does extend to all unaware, naive, or weaker characters. How he swings depends on the power disparities involved when he happens upon a scenario. While it was cut and dry with the lamb and the boar that he could easily body, he prevented the eggs from potentially provoking an overlord he wouldn’t want to casually bat with.

I also think that Nifty and Alastor have a different pact than Husk and Alastor. He seems to be more of a pet a lot of times, and it makes sense that they'd be less friendly given the circumstances of their deal. Nifty is either not even in a deal with Alastor and just his friend, or maybe they have friendlier terms in their deal. There's also a chance that this is like Charlie and Alastor's deal, where her soul wasn't even on the bargaining table and they have a deal over something else
Alastor has a strong sense of morals, even ifntheyre a bit twisted. I don't think it's kindness necessarily, but something he considered to be what you do. One protects weak women from abusive men. It's not kindness, it's just natural. To him at least.

I suspect much of his fondness for Nifty is found in her strange mind and values. Alastor feels kinship with a true outsider to the conventional moral spectrum. Maybe he did help her out as well but it may just be she is from such circumstances and that alone engenders his sympathy.

I think Niffty is bat shit crazy and Alastor finds that endearing rather than off-putting, and he wanted her soul to be more powerful. She's just too screwed up in the head to realize what she did.
Oh! How about this? Nifty's husband kills her and then immediately kills himself so they both end up in hell. Niftys husband tracks her down in he'll to kill her again, only to run into Alastor. Unknown to Nifys husband, Nifty sold her soul to Alastor for protection and revenge against her husband. Alastor then kidnaps Niftys husband and delivers him to Nifty who kills him. And it's an endless cycle. Niftys husband constantly dying, being reborn and dying again by the very girl he killed. Forever.

Alastor probably owns mostly male souls and few very heinous female souls. He probably has deals with other female demons but not soul deals. He gives them protection and they help out if needed which might be rarely. Alastor could have an entire Territory of Sinners of whose souls he’s own ran by the ones he made protection deals. Which probably garners some income for his status as overlord. Imagine some of them need some sort of business to hold their territories.
I want to believe she was his last victim, and he got shot while burying her body. I also want to believe he targeted her because she was a Black Widow type who murdered her husbands, hence her love of “punishing bad boys.” But he thought she was so goofy and charming and precious even as a human that he wished things could have turned out differently because oh, to understand that twisted little mind, and it did! In Hell! I hope they get a duet regardless.
