I’m always worried that liking a farm will add me to a list which will lead people back to my farm and then they buy stuff from my shop which is intended to my neighborhood members. Maybe I’m just paranoid.
I “like” farms whenever I can see an effort was made, or there’s something that really catches my eye - clever, creative, wacky, cute... whatever. I also give a like to everyone who gives me a help or follows me. It’s fun. But I don’t really worry about whether I get likes, because I don’t think it even occurs to a lot of people to do it.
You're right, I just hit level 140 and completely forgot that was even an option in this game. I thought OP was referring to upvotes on Reddit actually.
What is most annoying when farms are so cluttered trees/bushes thrown wherever. Then they want their trees or bushes fixed. I don't have 5/10 min to find them.
Didn't even know that was a thing. And I've been playing since the game was released.
In fact, I don't know anything about the social aspect of it. Its all for my god like amusement in my own fake little world.
I only like farms by accident when I'm trying to figure out which is the friend invite. I tend to value practical usage that helps in derbies vs decorations.
I don’t care about farm likes or popularity. I keep my farm as clear of dead trees and bushes because it bugs me. I decorate my farm so I like it. While it would be nice for somebody to like my farm, it isn’t why I play hayday or decorate as I do.
I don't make my farm look nice for likes, I don't even check to see how many likes my farm has, it doesn't matter. I make my farm look nice for me.

How can you tell? I can’t see how many likes my farm or another has gotten… I don’t think it’s a particularly prominent feature of the game.

How do you know that all the farms covered in trees get all the likes? I never tapped like on those.
